I'm just visiting for the week and when I was walking around my hotel I found this gym. I've always been a big ufc fan. So why try it. They offered me a free 3 day pass and it's been great. The gym is big and filled with tons of equipment. It was clean and the staff is super friendly. I would keep coming to this gym if I lived here.

Had a great experience at UFC Gym thanks to Mark Rutkowski! He keeps the place running smoothly and always greets members with a smile. The gym is clean, well-maintained, and Mark is super helpful with any questions. Definitely recommend checking it out - the positive atmosphere he helps create makes working out here a pleasure! 5/5 stars.

I've been to many different gyms over the last 15+ years and I can confidently say that his gym is top tier & very fairly priced, especially for a gym downtown. Basic membership gains you access to free weights & equipment, plus other spaces (like spin cycles or bags) if they're not being occupied by classes. This gym & women's locker room and bathrooms are extremely clean & the equipment is brand new and great quality. I read some other reviews about poor management, but there is a new GM here, Jess, and she is outstanding. This gym has a ton of different options and amenities (classes, recovery, tanning, etc) which are obviously added costs. If you're interested in joining I'd recommend taking a tour & discussing with them what you're interested in to get the best idea of how much it will cost if you want more than just a basic gym membership. They also offer 2 free hours of parking at a nearby parking garage. Highly recommend this gym, especially if you live around downtown.

This is regarding the gym at the Waterfront/Homestead location. Hello, I was going to this gym for awhile and just paying with cash to see, if I would be interested in attending here as a member. Glad I didn’t sign up because everytime there are two classes going on, I cannot access the equipment I need like a mat or a foam roller, as another poster said, this is an ongoing problem here when there are two classes going on at once. I cant imagine what it will be like in January when more people will be there and this gym is so small compared to most gyms in the area. It is wrong to have two classes going on at once when it is a very tiny and small gym.

UFC GYM is a great gym with an amazing staff. I highly recommend taking the boxing conditioning classes with coach Rob Jackson. He’s very skillful with his coaching techniques. With having no boxing experience, coach Rob was there to help build my confidence up. The environment is very welcoming and you get a great workout while learning the fundamentals of boxing. If you’re trying to find a gym, UFC GYM is the way to go as well as taking coach Rob’s classes. I promise you, it’s worth it! LETS GO!!!!

Just moved to Pittsburgh and previously worked at a local gym in Austin TX in management, so finding a gym with good equipment and not corporate is very important to me. Tried Etage out today and it was great. Locker rooms are nice and clean! Lots of different machines to utilize. They pretty much had it all. Reasonable priced for what they offer and location. Definitely interested in joining. Eric assisted me with all my questions and was really friendly. Overall great gym and I look forward to going back. Lots of space to workout too!

If you are looking for a very clean, fully equipped, and reasonably priced athletic facility in Downtown Pittsburgh, ETAGE is an excellent choice. The multi level gym is equipped for just about any work out routine. They have newer cardio machines, weight training, Spin and Yoga. Whatever you may be working on, my guess is they have it. The staff is pretty helpful with any questions you may have. Also, they even have nice post workout lounge area and some aqua loungers to loosen up after. Having their own garage with validated parking is a must for downtown as well. Check them out!

Pittsburgh’s best gym! From front door to top floor, this is what a gym is supposed to be. The front desk staff, Ashton and Trace, were very welcoming and professional as they helped us get started. The equipment is well-designed, clean, and well-maintained. The other gym members are respectful and put things back where they belong. For the Instagrammers out there, the lighting here and the rooftop views can’t be beat. Can’t wait to continue training here.

This place is full of matrix machines and free motion machines. It's an unusual combination to have Taiwanese machines (only Matrix brand) in an American gym. In particular, I know that the machine price is not cheap, but rather more expensive. Just because it's unusual doesn't mean it's bad. On the contrary, it is very good. Machines with enough capacity make exercising more enjoyable. I enjoyed visiting every day for a new experience. I was impressed by the cleanliness and excellent facilities. I recommend this place to everyone and have no regrets.

Where has StretchLab been all my life? As a fitness enthusiast, I thought I had my stretching routine down. A friend recommended StretchLab when I was complaining about lower back pain from my desk job. After only a few sessions, I have felt so good and learned so much about how to focus my stretches towards very specific areas. I couldn’t recommend StretchLab more! Bonus that the entire staff in the strip district is friendly and very knowledgeable. Try it out, you won’t be disappointed!

This had honestly been the best addition to my wellness routine in a decade. As someone with a back fusion and an autoimmune disease, it’s hard to find things that make a huge impact on my everyday life and mobility. But StretchLab has been life-changing! Having someone who helps me each week with stretching, mobility, and overall health is amazing and has greatly improved my ability to continue other activities. It’s been six months with StretchLab and I can’t see myself giving it up anytime soon.

Getting stretched by Tyler, Nicolas, and Katlyn on a weekly basis is one of the best parts of my week. I’ve had a few minor injuries from outside activities and the team is always working with me to heal and progress based on where I am. Definitely come in for a trial!

We dropped in for a week while we were in Pitt for work and had a great experience! The gym had everything we needed for a week of great workouts. We were able to workout properly and didn’t miss a beat with our training. The facility was clean and never over crowded. The coaches we met, John and Aaron, were both very welcoming and friendly. They offer all sorts of classes. Including strength training, spin, boxing, versa climber and open gym. Absolute hidden gem in downtown!

I moved to Pittsburgh a few months ago and wanted to find a local gym. I've lived in MANY cities and been a member at MANY gyms, so I know what I want and need. As I researched nearby gyms prior to my move, Altus stood out - they had great reviews online and their philosophy/program offering seemed to align with what I was seeking. John was very responsive to my initial inquiry and after I got settled, I went to meet him for an initial consult. Our conversation gave me full confidence this was the place for me. I love strength training, so I wanted to work with a trainer to get me back into the routine of lifting weights, but I need flexibility - I travel frequently for work and often have to book trips last minute. During our conversation, we talked through everything - my history with strength training, my work and travel schedule, nutrition, injuries, goals, expectations, budget --- it was the most thorough consult I've had with any gym. I also had a preliminary session to determine my baseline (strength, range of motion, etc.) and get all the data measurements, which we use and remeasure to track my progress over time. Now that I've been going to Altus for a few months, I can genuinely say the entire experience - and Altus team - have been amazing. I immediately felt welcome and I appreciate the trainers so much. I've been working with Aaron for my individual sessions and squad sessions and it's been great. He's truly a 'coach' in that we're always talking through each set (about my form, the muscle groups we're focused on, how I'm feeling after each set, why we're doing certain things, etc.) -- it's educational, engaging, and fun. And he's always flexible with my crazy work schedule - accommodating changes when I have to go out of town, providing workouts through the mobile app that I can do virtually when I'm gone, squeezing in sessions when nothing about my availability is 'normal', and checking in regularly between sessions to see how I'm doing. I've also joined several classes and they're always fun - Heather, Cheri, Brandi --they'll kick your butt, but you'll love every minute of it. :) the Versa climber was a new piece of equipment for me --- it's killer but awesome! If you're looking for a gym that will focus on what you need and trainers who will champion you every step of the way to reaching your goals --- head over to Altus. They're the best!

Altus is an amazing gym. The coaches are great and very enthusiastic. I never used to understand fitness before but training with coach Aaron has been a great experience. I started off as a beginner but this gym has given me an amazing zeal to keep going with my workouts and nutrition. The team sessions are absolute joy and I always come out happy after attending a session. Regardless of the number of people in a team session, the trainers are always keeping an eye out for everyone (from beginners to advanced) giving us informative suggestions when required. I would totally recommend this gym to people who wanna start working out but don’t know how and where to start. They teach from basics and help you advance further. All in all - Altus is a must go to gym!

Altus is an excellent space with excellent people. I’d recommend Altus and their programs to anyone looking for guidance and perspective on healthy living. After years of crossfit, I began looking for fitness instruction with a more intentional focus on quality movement and quality of life, rather than one with a competitive and performative focus. Altus is exactly what I was seeking. The instructors at Altus are passionate, knowledgable, and know how to encourage and teach. The proof is in the progress that you can see in their clients.

Lined with historical warehouses, the now hip Strip District has a lively mix of iconic Pittsburgh based food shops, all the gifts from Pittsburgh you can dream of, hipster bars and so many spots to eat. Really unique spot in the city that shows its charm & character. It’s not a trip to Pittsburgh without seeing the strip! They have plenty of parking (that’s cheap!) so it’s easy to park & walk around. Really fun vibe in the Strip. We enjoyed our stroll around this vibrant area, taking it all in. Lots of great coffee shops, photo opps & just good vibes all around!

Why are there so many golfing places here? Axe throwing is out, but "gentrified mini golf" must be in. There are some interesting shops here though. The little benches and photo ops outdoors are fun, but looking for parking is like watching a bunch of sharks circling around their prey.

After a tough pregnancy and suffering from some health issues the last few years - my body and mental health hit rock bottom. I was weak, overweight, not eating right and just felt bad all the time. I came to Chris in hopes he would train me and help me start a new chapter in my life with health and fitness. It’s been about a year and I can’t believe how far I have come. I’m the strongest I’ve been in years; I am meeting the weight loss goals he helps me set monthly; I’m eating clean and I feel absolutely amazing. The best thing about Chris as a trainer is he pushes you to be your best self and celebrates your wins with you. I feel like he’s just as excited as I am when I hit a goal - and that makes me want to train even harder. If you’re looking for someone to help you meet your fitness goals - Chris and Mindful Movement is the best!!!

So far what I can say is, we went to find a gym and the young woman at the counter was not super helpful or informative. We asked about a membership, she handed us a paper with what the memberships consist of with no other information. Maybe my expectations were too high, I thought maybe she would explain the different aspects each came with, or a tour. Had I not been to a planet fitness before, I wouldn't have been able to explain it to him. I will however go back to try the "free day" you can get with the app. I hope my experience gets better and there is someone with the willingness to assist.

Decent gym. Insanely crowded & terrible weekend hours. Smith machines are backwards, which make it hard to correct form using the mirrors in front. They need turned around, all of them. This is a massive injury prone situation.

This is not a judgment free zone. I had the worst experience with shaler planet fitness. The staff from 2 days ago were terrible. I took my autistic client to the gym per his request. When we arrived we were not greeted while my individual has a sensory issue he carries his vape around never used it in the gym he knows not to indoors. He wanted to try out some equipment. He is new to the gym. The staff were at the desk laughing and watching our every move. We were there maybe 20 minutes. When were going to leave the staff stopped us and told us that she was watching and that he couldn't vape in the gym which he never did and that I couldn't come to the gym in crocks and that we didn't wipe down the equipment. We carried our own wipes and hand sanitizer but she never said anything to the other people in the gym not wiping equipment down. She proceeded to say say this is your warning and it's not acceptable at the gym. I told her that my client was autistic and that he was new to going to the gym she still said this is your warning and was very rude. So not only did they make fun of my autistic client she upset him and made him feel like he was in trouble. I will never bring any of my clients back to this location.

I’ve practiced at different yoga studios for 15 years and I’m glad that in 2021 I found my forever studio. Every teacher is extremely qualified and has their own style of teaching. One Point One is by far the best yoga studio I have ever attended. And that is saying something since I've been to many studios in Pittsburgh and around the world (travel for work). Whether you are new to yoga and looking for a pure physical practice or you are far along on your yoga journey and looking to delve deeper into yoga philosophy, the studio can support you and your growth. Unlike many other studios or fitness centers where you walk in and maybe don't talk to anyone the whole time you are there, you will be instantly welcomed into the community at One Point One, meet kind people, and enjoy in a truly inviting and welcoming space. Do yourself a favor and sign up to try the studio for two weeks. You won't regret it. There are opportunities to do a work-trade (seva) as well for reduced prices if money is an issue. Megan and her incredible team of teachers have created a truly unique space and it is an incredible gift to our community to have this studio in Pittsburgh. Try it! You'll love it!

On a scale of cotton candy to Brussels sprouts, One Point One Yoga is a freshly made salad. When you decide to attend a yoga class here, be sure to sign up and pay online before arriving as the website says they only accept pre-paid participants. Walking into the studio felt like I had been transported to the coziest magazine spread of design inspiration. While the yoga instructor gave me a quick tour of the space, it was also very intuitive. The class started promptly, and the instructor moved us through the vinyasa expertly with great instructions throughout.

A space that truly welcomes you wherever you are in your yoga practice. My friend and I found 1.1 back in 2017, when we were reunited together in pittsburgh as roommates—both seeking comfort within ourselves and a studio to call home. One of the best decisions I have ever made. Intentional teachers lead you with offerings for the body and the mind that bring a sense of peace amidst the chaos we live in. 1.1 is a safe space and one I could not recommend more.

The staff are a bunch of old friendly neighborhood meatheads. Extremely affordable. Literally the only thing they don't have that I would like (because it's my preferred form of cardio) is either a stair climber or a rowing machine. But I'm not docking a star for that. Parking, like anywhere in Pittsburgh, sucks. But it's not the worst.

If you are looking for an old-school bodybuilding gym, or a place to lift weights that isn’t a sterile/generic feeling commercial gym — this is the place. All of the staff here is wonderful, friendly, and helpful. This gym uses metal weights (which is hard to come across these days) and has a good variety of machines. One of my favorite aspects of the gym are the trophies and posters that cover almost every inch of the walls. This place has a lot of history, and the staff that work here have a lot of passion for weightlifting (and the Bloomfield/PGH community in general). If you are looking to join a gym that actually has purpose, look no further. Despite being more old-school, everything is maintained very well. Only downside might be the bathroom, because it isn’t large, but that’s not the reason you go here. I would recommend this place to just about anyone, I even bring my dad when he visits because he likes it so much.

Christian and the trainers in the gym are very knowledgeable and teach you how to work out as well as put you through a tough hour of exercise. What separates this gym from the larger ones, is the hands on assistance, the values the employees carry and push onto the gym members, and the sense of community among everyone in the gym. Small, quiet place with lots of equipment & friendly people. I always enjoy my time here BUT their rates are right up there with the other big gyms even though there are no locker rooms or showers. I've spent a few free trial days using this gym before deciding if I want a membership, and I've been tossing the idea around in my head for a week now...not being able to get a shower & go about my day has been making it a toss-up for me. I guess if you live close by it wouldn't make too big a difference.

Nice small gym with a good assortment of equipment. No power lifting though. Owner is often present and ensures all the equipment is treated well and cleaned up after. Many clients are in the competition body building scene. Good prices and none of the corporate BS that you'll find at LA Fit, Fit 19 etc. Often have the place to myself in the AM or early afternoon.

I joined The Gym almost 3 months ago and LOVE it. This is the longest I have stayed a member and have so much motivation now to change my life. The Gym is one of the reasons I have been changing my life. The atmosphere is welcoming and equipment is great. I have never had problems finding equipment to use, if something is being used I go to another piece of equipment and then I can get the one I wanted (on the very rare occasion this happens). I have been a couch potato all of my life and now I am going to the gym on a daily basis. I signed up with a personal trainer who puts so much time into helping me achieve my goals and teach me the proper form when I am doing workouts. If you are looking for a friendly gym that has people that care, this is the place for you. I have tried the yoga classes which as great ways to stretch your muscles and work on mindfulness. Also, tried the Kettlebell AMPED which is a tough workout that really pushes you. The Gym is a secret gem in the south hills that is so worth the visit. The owner knows everyone and gives personal attention to the quality and atmosphere here.
