1/16 update: see time stamp - class doesn’t start for over an HOUR and no one is in this room with their stuff🤡🤡🤡 45 minutes before cycle class starts and people are putting JEANS on bikes to hold them??? the entitlement? how about you get better bikes with consistent quality so we all don’t have to use the same 6 bikes?

LA Fitness Signature at Bakery Square. I've been a Signature member of LA Fitness since 2018, and my experience at this location has been mixed—until now. After the gym underwent two weeks of renovations, I returned on September 25, and I must say, the transformation has blown me away. Before the renovations, the club felt like a dungeon: outdated, broken equipment that hadn't been serviced for years, poor air circulation (often reaching 100 degrees in the summer), and dirty, unpleasant locker rooms. I had raised these issues multiple times over the years to no avail. But today, all that has changed. The moment I walked into the lobby, I could see a complete shift in the atmosphere. The new lighting, refreshed branding, and inviting design made a strong first impression. Walking into the main section of the club, I was genuinely thrilled by the revamped layout. It feels organized and intentional—equipment grouped together by muscle target areas, so you don’t have to trek across the gym mid-workout. The redesigned lower-body workout room is especially impressive. It's bright and purposefully equipped, a far cry from the old, dark space it used to be. Even the racquetball court has been repurposed into a Pilates studio (though I do wonder if two studios are necessary, given they already have a dance room). While the basketball court only received minimal updates, like a shiny new floor and a big LA Fitness logo, the changes upstairs are impressive—brand-new treadmills, Steppers, and recumbent bikes on the second level. However, the swimming pool remains closed, and it’s high-time LA Fitness stopped advertising it as a feature since it's been shut down since 2019. Overall, this remodel has completely changed my outlook on the club. LA Fitness has stepped up its game, and I’m genuinely excited about my future workouts here. It finally feels like a Signature Club worth being proud of. 1. Locker Room Renovation: The new locker setup, featuring sleek, modern locker designs. This indicates an improvement in the overall cleanliness and functionality of the locker room space, addressing previous concerns about outdated and poorly maintained areas. 2. Cardio Equipment: New treadmills, ellipticals, and other cardio equipment, showcasing the state-of-the-art upgrades LA Fitness has integrated. 3. Weight Training Area: The gym has been equipped with new weightlifting racks, barbells, and platforms. The arrangement may be more intuitive and user-friendly, allowing for better-targeted workouts and easier access to different areas without crossing the gym. 4. Specialized Room: The newly designed room specifically for lower body workouts, which includes equipment like leg presses and machines targeting glutes and hamstrings. The setup appears well-organized and user-centric. 5. New Pilates Studio: The newly designed Pilates room, with it bright aesthetic to differentiate it from the previously outdated racquetball court. 6. Lighting and Ambiance: The overall lighting seems to have improved dramatically, creating a more welcoming and bright workout environment compared to the previously dim spaces.

Roderick and Anthony are great! They’re so friendly and helped me get set up with my membership and intake. This place really goes above and beyond for their members with great perks and is always clean. Awesome atmosphere for the first time gym-goers or regulars with any machine u can imagine.

I joined this club primarily because it had a racquetball court. Racquetball has proven to be an essential part of maintaining my mental health for the past year. I walked in today with a court reservation only to find that they’re turning it into a Pilates room. In addition, the AC hasn’t worked for years, and there’s no pool. I’m so frustrated that the only accessible racquetball court in the east end is now gone.

I’ve been going here for about 2 years. It’s very mid, but I keep coming back because it is affordable via a discount I get from my health insurance, and it is sort of centrally located on several bus lines. Cons: - the men’s locker room is just plain gross - it gets overcrowded around 5-7pm and you will have to wait for equipment - they don’t have nearly enough weightlifting equipment, but a huge surplus of cardio equipment. The majority of the time I go, there are not enough dumbbells and I have to wait to use them - the sauna culture here is whack. Phones, electronics, and shoes in the sauna. Yikes. - the pool has been closed for the 2 years I’ve been going here, and it looks like they have no plans to fix it. They just did a huge interior redecorating and built a Pilates studio … but no word on the pool.

More than what I expected!! They do the work so you can enjoy your time. I had a toddler triplet birthday and always need extra hands and when having their 3rd party here it was pure excitement and joy for the family. The babies had the time of their lives with guided play and activities and to top it off had a personal touch with a bubble dance with their favorite song. My oldest daughter has some sensory needs and they helped by providing some noise canceling headphones. I was in a budget and wanted a private party and they were worth it and more. I will show up for classes with the kids soon cause they provide that as well. I thank you “B”, Courtney and Miss Katt. You were the best!!

Such a great place for our little man! He has so much fun there. As soon as I mention that we're going to Romp and Roll he starts chanting "romp roll! Romp roll!" It's also been nice meeting other parents and their sweet littles!

We had my son's 3rd birthday party here in December and when I say, it was top notch service from start to finish, I mean it sincerely!! Starting with all of upfront information and check in calls/emails to review details and preferences, to walking in the door day of the party and having our host say "Hand me everything and we will take care of it all, go enjoy!" it was such a relaxing and fun way to celebrate our boy! There is something to be said about not having to stress about food, timing, set up, decorations, invitiations, activities for the kids, etc. The team kept a great schedule throughout the 1.5 hr long party and it was just the perfect amount of time for all kiddos and adults. We never felt rushed and we were able to just truly enjoy our son and all our friends and family! All our guests said it was such a fantastic party and everyone left with huge smiles on their faces. You will not regret having a party here, trust me!! The price was more than reasonable for all that was offered too. Thank you to the FABULOUS Romp N Roll Team for giving us a day we will always remember!!! You all are rockstars!

Thought the instructor could have been a lot better. Walked around and interacted with families. Maybe get kids excited to do her activities. Plus her full clothing color choices were not inviting. She actually is the only main reason we are still pondering about joining. Kids are use to ppl like Miss Rachel or really any over excited person. Sorry just being very honest. Instructor was Marie. Parents were the only ppl following along with her none of the kids were interested at the beginning and more would have joined in if she encouraged the fun they are having, while she interacts with everyone during gym time

We came here for an event and I'm glad I did. I didn't know this place existed. My son and daughter had a great time playing on the slide, jungle gym and other play items. They enjoyed the songs and of course the bubble play at the end. There is parking if you go up the side of the building, I didn't see it until I went in so I parked on the street. The staff was nice and they even have little toilets for the kids. I believe they have a membership so if you want to try it out just ask them at the front.

I have been meaning to write this for a while--I've been training at Shape for the last several years and this gym is the real deal. The trainers are knowledgeable, intentional, approachable, and fun and the workouts are incredibly effective. There are no gimmicks to their training approach--they taught me how to strength train the right way with good form and focus to avoid injury and to optimize progression over time. The training is functional and has improved my performance in sports outside of the gym. I continue to be blown away by the progress I've made over time in terms of strength and endurance. They've provided me a really solid foundation of strength, conditioning, and mobility that I wish I had found years ago. The community and energy are also great--very supportive and encouraging. Highly recommend.

I've been going to shape 6 months now, and I couldn't recommend this place more!! I have been taking the group fitness classes (8 a month) since I started and am so incredibly impressed with the gains I have made! I am running faster, lifting heavier, and have noticed significant changes in my body comp! Each group fitness class is unique, with a series of different strength /cardio / mobility exercises that never gets boring. The coaches change up the workouts for every class and are all super motivating and passionate. I train so much harder in class than I would alone in the gym because of it! It's also super budget friendly, especially for graduate students like me who want a good workout at a good cost. This place is so worth and I highly recommend

I started with SHAPE training earlier this year and enjoyed my entire experience there. Coaches Marty, Delroy and Xavier were supportive and personalized my workouts even in the group classes. Going through my goals with them in the beginning was helpful because they knew I wanted to get stronger within certain muscle groups. I enjoyed their structured classes incorporating cardio and strength training. I had to stop my membership due to an injury and moved out of the area. I am hoping to find a gym similar to SHAPE training in my new location!

I joined this gym a few years back. It is clean and organized. The staff are friendly and encouraging. I had to leave my contract early for medical reasons and they worked with me to come up with a way to do so. My trainer did zoom training during covid and i saw good results going there. 10/10.

I have been going to SHAPE since 2017 and absolutely love it. I started with the group athletics classes and have continued taking them to this day. I had never gone to a gym before SHAPE and now I can’t imagine not going. I added personal training three years ago with Delroy and have had a great experience. The sessions are challenging but rewarding, and it’s great to be able to track my progress. The programming at SHAPE, whether it’s for classes or personal training, is very thoughtful and intentional. They follow a cycle with specific phases, such as stability/conditioning, strength endurance, and hypertrophy. The overall emphasis is on building strength and muscle, and the trainers will work with you to set and meet your specific goals. Coming to SHAPE has definitely made me stronger physically and mentally and has been an amazing community for me as well.

What an amazing facility! I was coming from Houston to compete at nationals and I needed a gym that was 24 hours, I had reached out via email to see if I could get a week pass and and have access to the 24 hour feature and I was in a bit of a situation. Normally I would take my husband, he was such an amazing stage husband, he was so supportive and proud, I lost him in an accident last year and I couldn’t do a show by myself, so I had decided to take my 8 year old daughter with me. I reached out and Sameer with no hesitation said bring her!! She can hang out on the couch! This gym took so much stress off of me! Everyone was so welcoming and it was so convenient! Not to mention the equipment was everything and then some! The end result? I got my pro card!!

Awesome gym with max aura, well endowed equipment, and a very kind and friendly staff! I needed a gym for the week as I was spending 4 days in Pittsburgh visiting family for Thanksgiving. Found this place and it was great. Don’t let the hours on google fool you, for a couple extra bucks they’ll give you a key and you can go wherever you want; I paid $60 for 4 days, which, with a key for 24/7 access, is very reasonable (I think it’s $40 for a week pass w/o a key). The street parking was not an issue for me, but I go at 0 dark thirty so I can see how experiences may vary.

I love this gym. It's kind of old school in a good way. Nothing overly fancy or stuffy, everyone is just doing their own thing, very low key. They have all the equipment you could ever want. My only two cons are that there isn't a lot of floor space for stretching/ab work and the music they play on the speakers throughout the gym is pretty horrendous (terrible techno beats). Nothing some noise cancelling headphones won't fix though! Would highly recommend this spot to anyone!

Leg1on Training and Performance is the best! I have been a member for approximately 2yrs, and it has been the best experience I’ve had at any gym. Bryan is a hands on owner/coach that has created a positive, clean environment that welcomes athletes of all backgrounds (pro athletes to weekend warriors). The variety of services from individual training, small classes, and nutrition training is top notch as well. My experiences working with Jeremy (personal training/classes), Shelly (nutrition classes), and other staff members have been nothing short of fantastic! Everyone is well versed and motivated to help you achieve your goals. Really feels like they are invested in you doing your best. Personal training is exactly that for the Leg1on staff - Personal.

The overall vibe is also just very welcoming. 10/10 would recommend- hope I can return soon!

I've been training at Legion since it opened, and I've loved every time I get to go in. The gym is always incredibly clean and organized, and the coaching staff is incredible. I originally went to get stronger so that I performed better in sports for my high school, and I now train there solely with the intention of building strength and size, and I have seen remarkable improvements in both facets. Overall, Leg1on is a great spot to train and I highly recommend that anyone in the Pittsburgh area checks it out!

In participation with the Allegheny County CARES Rent Relief program, the Kingsley Association, working in tandem with Action-Housing, LLC employed Navigators whose concentrated efforts serve to support renters through the Covid Rental Relief application process. The goal is to allocate monies payable to renters experiencing an urgent need for housing stabilization funds, I was one of those renters. Having trudged a series of events, I found solace through the support and resources offered by the Kingsley Association Navigators and equipment,( I.e. computer, printer, scanner, fax ect... ). I was overwhelmed meeting the demands necessary to keep my home in the wake of this novel "Corona virus." The Navigators showed tact and demonstrated high levels of emotional sensibility; grossly unfounded within vulnerable population community work; bedside manner, while I unpacked the events leading me to apply. In addition, the Navigators extended resources for food and affordable housing, advocated on behalf of my application, and supplied updated program information. Their actions helped to put me at ease and feel supported during the most STRESSFUL times. Having experienced this organization, I do highly encourage residence of Allegheny County particularly those residing within the 15206 zip code to utilize the services made available by the Association. They are truly here to support you through the process.

I paid for this summer camp April 30th 2024, in hopes to have my daughter attend during the summer. After paying for the summer camp, I received a notification that I would receive registration information upon payment. I reached out at least twice to get the registration information and never received it. After speaking to a few people who knew about the summer camp, I was told that there was flooding inside the property. The staff did not tell me about this until after I asked twice for registration information. However, I was told that I would receive a refund for the $700.00 that I paid, due to the damage from flooding. It is now June and I have not received any of my money back! I do not recommend doing business here and would not recommend sending your child here for summer activities.

Gym Owner Ashley is warm, energizing, and instills so much love and confidence in the kids and her staff. I’ve been bringing my 12 year old for tumbling for the past several months. She also dances at CAPA, Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre School, and Art-in-Motion. She’s previously been in gymnastics at Gymkhana Point Breeze and Aspinwall Gymnastics. STUNT staff have been amazing for her confidence and so focused when it comes to making sure she has the fundamentals to tumble safely and sustainably. They really tune in to each kid individually to aim their growth in practice towards wonderful form. This has been the most instantly rewarding activity experience we’ve had in a long time. Thank you all for what you are doing for our kids.

Amazing gym. I have been training at PTT for almost 2 years now and have had nothing but good moments here. I started training with Don and Andy who are amazing coaches as well as human beings. They are very helpful and always welcoming to everyone from the start. A few months ago I had the pleasure of starting to do the bjj classes with coach Justin and even though I have only been with him for a couple months it feels like I’ve known him forever. He’s a very friendly and down to earth guy as well as a great coach. Every class he works his hardest to making us better and wants nothing but the best for his students. Union Fitness has been my go to gym for the past couple years. The gym itself has the equiptment necessary for strength training, yoga, spin and overall fitness. It is well organized and clean. It's not the biggest space but it is laid out well. If you are looking to get a workout in, for the most part, all the equiptment you may need is there. Now to the best part of Union Fitness and that is the staff and the community. The staff really seems to care about the members of Union Fitness and have been incredible in boosting moral and ensuring everyone that walks through those doors feels supported. I started my UF journey in 2020 taking #powerful classes with CJ and Curtis. They were extremely knowledgeable about strength training and brought positive energy and vibes to every single class. I would highly recommend stopping in for a #powerful class if you have any interest in getting into strength training. I would be remiss if I also didnt mention the overall community at UF. There have been countless bootcamps, fundraisers and happy hours that the staff have put on to help foster a open, accepting and caring community for those that seek it. I hope this trend continues.

I’ve been a member of Union for a long time, first introduced to the gym after spectating my very first powerlifting meet. I initially joined with a goal of building strength, and Union not only supported me through my first powerlifting meet but also adapted when my focus shifted to cardio and mobility—and back to strength again. As a regular at Union whether it’s Cardio Lab, Yoga, or Powerful—I’ve consistently had a great experience. My favorite class is the 5 PM Powerful with CJ and Dahveed. The energy and camaraderie among members help create the best gym community this city has to offer! The programming at Union is always on point. Whether it’s agility and endurance training in the summer or focusing on PRs and refining technique in the winter, every class is designed to challenge, engage, and inspire. No matter your goals, Union offers a workout that will push you to new heights while feeling supported every step of the way. If you're looking for a gym with top-notch programming and a strong, welcoming community, Union is the place to be.

There is ample equipment - I never felt like I needed to fight someone for a squat rack. They also have deadlift jacks and platforms, a ton of special bars, and really everything you could want. (Well, I couldn't find an EZ curl bar? But I bet there's one somewhere and I just wasn't looking in the right place.)

Good proximity within north side - so walkable. Overly blue collar vibe - seems more tailored toward folks who wish to be power lifters vs professional corporate folks who desire a general workout out after the workday is done. My take.

Union is always clean, inclusive, offers great classes— but what really stands apart from other gyms is the trainers and staff. The staff and trainers are next level friendly, helpful, and dedicated. You can count on someone you recognize being around to answer any questions, offer a piece of advice if asked, even just a friendly conversation between sets. The staff and trainers are where it’s at.
