It does not seem like these reviews are monitored which is unfortunate. Nonetheless I find this to be a good gym but compared to Pottruck it is lacking. I know that it is much smaller and serves a different purpose but certain aspects should be consistent. For example, Cable attachments, there are barely any at fox and it seems like more go missing by the week. Someone should do an inventory of the facility and replace what is missing. There's like one random yoga matt around. Also there's no where to change as they don't want you to do so in the bathroom.

Really small gym compared to Pottruck. I had to come here because Pottruck was closed for a week for maintenance. Lots of good machines and very clean. However, there is not a squat rack or power cage. Only a single Smith machine is available which is extremely disappointing.

My roommate and I were given a fantastic deal on a room after moving in October and so far have loved staying at 4419 Ludlow. The only cons are that the nearby construction is loud in the morning and from the 2nd floor the music from the gym can be heard. However, we love our rooms and the personal bathrooms. They have very large windows to let in light and lots of outlets. We especially love that the heating/cooling can be controlled by room and lighting is dimmable; both are really nice touches. Also, the in-unit washer dryer are larger and work better than other units we’ve had in previous apartments we’ve rented. The building is well-lit at night and with the door person and cameras, we always feel safe coming back at night. The leasing staff is very responsive and all of our maintenance requests were finished within 1-2 days. Overall, we love living here.

This apartment building was newly constructed and is an acceptable place to live, but it’s important for new tenants to know that the building already has issues and that some information is misadvertised. There appears to be an issue with mold growing in the apartments on the walls and in the showers. The elevator is constantly breaking. The AC also broke in the heat of the summer. There is not great ventilation in the apartments, so the fire alarm often goes off. They advertise 24/7 front desk personnel, but in my experience, the front desk people actually work for the gym on the first floor and often cannot be found. Package deliveries get stolen or left on the streets because the “front desk” people are not around. I would say it is an inaccurate depiction of a “front desk” person because they have no training in security practices. The gym is also extremely loud. You can hear the music and dropping of weights on the second and third floors, so pick a unit that is higher above. Overall, it is a fine place to live, but for the price of rent, I think there are better options in the area.

The sound insulation in this apartment leaves much to be desired. There is construction across the street, and they often start work early, many times before 7:00 in the morning. Also, there was a time they left a metal plate on the road for a couple of nights. The noise it caused when cars drove over it was so loud that it could still be heard clearly, even with earplugs. The building work is almost done now, so it might be quieter. But my time here was not good. If you're thinking about living here, you might want to think again

I’ve been living here for about 2 months and it has been worth it. The maintenance and staff are extremely nice and helpful. Having that quality of a gym included also makes it worth while. I would rate 4.5 stars if I could just because my unit was not very clean when I moved in. That also may be because I requested an earlier move in date than I was supposed to have. Other than that everything else is 5 stars. Very close to Aldi, but would be very nice to have a market in the building which I heard may happen. Overall, the experience has been worth it and I can see myself staying here longer than a year.

These pictures were taken on a Friday afternoon at the pool area, which was full of kids screaming, yelling, and jumping. It was super crowded and hard to find a space, making it feel more like a kids' club than a pool club. I can't imagine what it's like on the weekend. If you can't handle kids screaming all day, I would not recommend getting a pool membership here. Personally, I don't have an issue with it and managed to find a little peace and space in the water. The gym also has issues with air circulation and is always overcrowded. You may have to wait in a long line to use the cable machines if you're lucky. The group classes are held in a tiny area where you have to be careful not to hit people around you. On a positive note, the staff is excellent, particularly the receptionist with beautiful curly hair who is always smiling and creating a good vibe. Everyone is very helpful. Overall, it is an average neighborhood gym that costs $50 per month. However, the lack of AC and overcrowding may be deterrents for some.

I was really nervous to join a gym because I was concerned about the sometimes toxic masculine culture around working out, but I was so pleasantly surprised by how welcoming City Fitness is. The Old City location is perfect. It’s mostly working professionals and the layout of the gym feels intimate and not like some giant open warehouse where everyone is on display. I signed up for Thrive personal training and Jake is so patient and kind. I’m glad I joined this gym and would recommend it to anyone who may be hesitant to start working out.

Excellent experience. I bought a day pass for 45 N 3rd Street. What a gym! All the equipment you could ever ask for and an abundance of all types. Most importantly, staff member, Kambridge was exceptionally welcoming and helpful! I am looking forward to visiting Philly & going to the gym again. The members are fortunate to have such a great fitness center!

Edit: Ron, who is now the manager, talked to me informed he will purchase new equipment. The manager from my review was another one that worked there in April 2023. ———————— As an experienced weightlifter with over 10 years of 6x a week training, I can confidently say that when some of the equipment Planet Fitness has is better, it’s not a good sign. Before joining this gym, I did a trial and asked if they could improve the low quality lat pulldown attachments. They gave me the email of a manager to discuss it further. I sent an email and spoke with him in person, explaining the issues with the current attachments. He assured me they would purchase new ones, but a year later, nothing has been done. Additionally, they don’t have a decline bench at all. The layout is also strange, with leg machines and the leg press on opposite sides of the gym, and the same goes for the bench press and chest machines. The only reason I go to City Fitness is because it’s very close to home. Otherwise, on days that the routine I’m doing allows me to out at Planet Fitness (like back day, for example), I just go there instead.

So I was looking for a new gym at like 2am this morning. This is great travel wise from where I live and was worth it as well. It definitely is upgraded I would consider this a luxury gym. I currently going to switch over in the next week. Every thing was clean and accessible , staff was friendly , very relaxing. Price point is worth it def fits for my wallet.😊 the only thing I can say is it needs to be a little bit warmer in there to really build up a good sweat but I enjoy it😊

Plus, the immaculate cleanliness of the space reassured me and created a welcoming atmosphere that made exercising a pleasure rather than a chore.

What an awesome Pilates experience. Both Dara, the owner, and Alexis, the instructor, spent time with me before class started to discuss the different classes available as well as give me detailed information about my upcoming class, Pilates 101. Alexis was very thorough and supportive throughout and attended to everyone's needs and helped them modify the exercises, if necessary. The space is gorgeous and calming and I felt such warmth and community - and it was my first time there. Can't wait to experience more classes with Alchemy X.

Stay away from this gym! My locker was broken into, because their lockers are cheap. I’m disable veteran who was told buy a full membership for your son or leave. Was never told about the upgraded membership. This place has gone down hill fast. It seems all about money and not about the guest.. if you have silver and fit or silver sneakers don’t pay the 240.00 for upgrade membership join crunch their upgrade membership is 5.00 a month and that allows guest and tanning beds with message chairs. Look at the safety issue here! Rugs with rips in them, dirty bathroom sinks, rust on the equipment, machine out of order, but the best is he closes the basketball courts down at 4pm on Sat. The gym gm doesn’t care.. is this club worth 39.99

MANAGEMENT IS COMPLICIT!!!!! Many lockers are constantly being broken into by the locks being cut-off and/or twisted to break the hardware. Management is totally aware but has done nothing to reinforce the hardware. THIS IS NOT A NEW PROBLEM. Locker theft has been going on for years!!! Management wants to keep the locker thefts on the down-low so they can sell new memberships. If the new members are NOT being informed about locker thefts THEN THAT IS UNETHICAL and Management is part of the problem!!! How can one comfortably workout knowing their personalty is “at risk” of being stolen? Finally, the tread mills were replaced w/new ones. Stair Masters are very old, constantly out of service and they need new ones. Other LA Fit. Ctrs. have new Stair Masters but not Grant Ave. There used to be 6 sanitary wipe dispensers but now only 3. Most times the dispensers are empty for several days. THIS IS UNSANITARY! Staff claims that’s all that has been allocated and there isn’t any money in the budget to refill the dispensers. In the Men’s locker room, all paper towel dispensers are empty (for several days) to dry hands after washing. So members don’t wash hands? THIS IS UNSANITARY! The locker/bath rooms are a filthy mess, trash cans overflowing, toilets are VERY dirty. Given the lack of funds for supplies, I hope the proper amount of chemicals are being added to the pool and spa? Hmm

The gym equipment is good, but the music is crazy loud. I don't mind there being music in the background, but why does it need to be as loud as a nightclub? Especially when everyone is trying to listen to their own music with their own earphones. Also, the lockers are sketchy and broken most of the time, so I'd advise not using them. Other than that, it's a decent gym.

Fix the refrigeration function of the water fountain/bottle filler and then it will be a 5 star review. The only water fountain dispenses WARM water. Also every time it rains there’s a roof leak right above the squat rack that’s close to the swing squat machine. Water accumulates on the ground right at the squat rack it’s unsafe. One of the best gyms I have ever gone to. I went from Planet Fitness to Giant and it could not have been any better. I worked out at PF for a year then moved to Giant Fitness because I heard about it from someone. When I was consistent working out, at the time I would work out in the morning. Even during my transition from PF to GF. This may look like a Home Depot for you labor/union guys but the morning guys that worked out early in the morning, granted that I did not talk to them that much, were great and hilarious. Especially listening to their conversation. I highly recommend this gym for working out. And I would recommend bringing your own music to listen to if you work out with music. Dj's music selection is eh but we there to work out not dance! Also I am getting back in the gym grind. Im going to resume where I left off at. I sooo recommend this gym!
