I’m not going to try to tank their ratings, but this worth sharing with other curious people. I’m an out of towner who wanted to purchase a daypass. The website is very basic with no details about daypasses, which are very normal for serious gyms. I called several times no answer. Took a ride down to the gym and you cannot open the door for security reasons it seems. The instructions outside to call are useless. Nobody picks up at the google voice number. I peeked in and saw a beautiful gym. It was clean, looked like there was an open wall or door for good ventilation. Not a lot of people inside. I’m heading to another bodybuilding gym on a different side of town unfortunately. After this experience it’s very unlikely I’ll use the venue on trips to LA. In most of my travels I visit bodybuilding gyms. I know they can be niche, lean organizations that aren’t very staffed but this was weird. To anyone considering a visit from out of town don’t go without confirmation AND don’t let your ride pull off before you’ve gotten through the door.

Hidden gem of a bodybuilding gym in South LA. Great price, amazing equipment selection and a great space to workout.

Hands down the best gym in Los Angeles. Private, very friendly, great price, and a ridiculous amount of great equipment. Sadly I am only here another week to enjoy it. But anyone looking for a real bodybuilding gym this is your spot. Drive 30-45 minutes each way happily to workout at Hardcore.

Omg, when I first entered this gym, I couldn't believe it, a REAL Hardcore gym in the LA area. Not only do they have ALL the equipment I sought out, but the membership fee is crazy cheap compared to those other YouTube celebrity filled gyms. It's fresh and you get a door code. I'm home. Valhalla!

This gym is truly a hidden gem. The owner is very friendly and he signed me up right away. The equipment here is far superior than any commercial gym!

Great gym so far. Friendly staff. Love the rooftop patio for a break. Id upgrade to 5 star if you had the wherewithal to not inundate us with 6 CNNs while we're on the treadmill. 1 is absolutely more than anyone needs

One of the best gyms on the planet! Great community, clean, and has all the equipment you need. Never a wait for equipment even during peak times. People here come to train. Has an old school/vintage feel to it. Locker rooms are spacious. I’m moving out of LA and this is one place I’ll miss the most. The owners are awesome and front desk staff especially Joe are all cool. Thankful I had the opportunity to train here

Love this gym. I have been coming here for over 5 years now. Everyone is always professional and polite, staff and gym goers alike. The set up is great, and it’s never “too slammed” to not be able to get a good workout in. Highly recommend!

Awesome gym I found in that area, best combo of being both never too full and not overpriced and always has free parking. Has awesome roof where you can exercise in the sun, hit the punching bag, or do yoga with a class. Downstairs always has windows open all year so the entire gym is well ventilated and breezy. Equipment is older and it feels like you’re stepping into a historical gym. There are pictures of famous actors that worked out there. On another floor below there is a locker room and sauna where there is free hair gel, lotion, etc. Lastly, most of the people who go there are really fit so it’s quite motivational and gets you to work harder.

When I flew into LA on the way to Hawaii I was looking for a gym I could drop into that would have easy access to barbells and other strength & conditioning equipment. Photos of this space don’t show a lot so I figure I’ll note that they have a wide variety of machines, and a handful of barbells and associated racks. They also have a surprising amount of machines like stair masters and two free running treadmills (as well as the standard cardio machines). I did not see nor look for rowers or ski ergs, though if my training session needed them I’d focus on the CrossFit or similar facilities. For those interested, they have a handful of kettlebells with the single heaviest being an ~80. Of the various gyms close to where I was staying south of Hollywood, Easton looked to be the easiest to access, probably because it’s a standard gym rather than a more specialized fitness facility (like CrossFit, HIIT, or the variety of personal training spaces nearby). They are on the 2nd floor under the metal sign. A drop-in day pass cost $25. They currently seem to prioritize mask-wearing which is nice. Note that if you plan to change or shower or carry around more than just a small bag you’ll probably want to carry a lock too.

Do not get a membership at this establishment!! They will keep debiting your account every day! I also had my card locked last night and they still took money out of my account! Then I call for a refund and to cancel the membership and the lady Monica told me she couldn’t do it. I had to wait for the manger free to get there instead. I’m highly pissed off! How is there no manger or supervisor at the business to process refunds? So they just have workers opening and closing with no supervision? I want ppl to know not to trust this planet fitness especially since I have to go through all of this for a refund! I will be reporting this business to every thing I can because I shouldn’t have to wait for my own money when I never stepped foot in this establishment! Do better and have a dam supervisor on site, smh

This planet fitness is very chill. it has it moments of chaos. meaning it's packed people working out and a lot of movement. staff is chill, too. usually I go in the morning, morning. very clean and nice *updated review* I used to love working out here. Used to, know there's a lot of homeless in the bathrooms, using the lockers. high schools kids loitering the machines. Most of them sit there and don't workout. But they use their phones to kill time on the machines. It was a chill cool place. Now is dirty bathroom stalls are always used by homeless people and showers. The main problem is management. They don't care or would say anything to the homeless. I really thinking of closing my membership. If you don't believe me stop by a Tuesday around 3:00 you will see.

Amazing location. Staff is attentive and the equipment is always functional. Time for an upgrade with the treadmills. Thank you!!!

Worst location ever! First of all there’s a bunch of crack heads in the parking lot. Second the security this planet fitness has is always getting high or just chilling in the front table and always on the phone. I almost got attacked by a black man who was trying to get fresh with my 16 year old and where’s is the security? Oh that’s right inside sitting down using his phone with his feet up! Third there are some machines that are broken and have been like that for the past 6 months. Planet fitness do better!

Rest In Peace to Hector the trainer . So sad this Gym is closed . Floyd should have bought it but of course he opens a gym in porter ranch . Dumb ish . Hopefully this zh opens back up. Rest easy to the women and her son who owned the gym . She died and her son died within a year later . The gym has been closed ever since . I heard a rapper bought it .

It has that old school boxing gym aurora as soon as you walk in. The staff are friendly helpful and they are there to promote a positive environment for adult and child athletes.

My husband had a really good experience the first week at this boxing gym. 3 day free try out, even better. He was excited and committed and showed up daily. Great experience the first week But Shortly After paying the first month of member ship for a trainer $100 plus the gym $45 the trainer didnt seem as dedicated anymore. I would think thats what they get payed for. I feel that we wasted our time and money. We found a more affordable gym and so far its been going good with the new trainer.

The gym is great, really classic. My trainer Hector is the guy to go to. He's very nice and works you pass your limit. However the mannagers are really rude.

The Griffin Club Los Angeles is a great spot for those seeking a mix of fitness, socializing, and relaxation. The facilities, including the tennis and pickleball courts, are well-maintained, and the fitness center is modern and fully equipped. The pools are a highlight, offering a perfect escape on sunny days. The dining options are solid, though the menu could use a bit more variety. The ambiance is upscale yet welcoming, making it a pleasant space for members to connect. However, the membership fees are on the higher side, and at times, the club can feel a bit crowded during peak hours. Overall, it’s a wonderful club with plenty to offer, but there’s room for small improvements to make it truly exceptional.

This place was awesome. Although I was just a visitor... if I lived in LA I would make it my home. The staff was amazing and efficient and the food was nice. Just a great environment

Too many kids running around, amenities not that great. Management doesn't care about the staff - They get paid the lowest. Had a server telling me how half of their gratuity is being taken by the club and they barely make anything in tips.

Excellent day for the pool in LA with the Balakrishnan family!! The pool was warm and the drinks COLD!!

I initially got a membership for tennis and they lied to me about having quiet spaces and tennis program for older teens. I went to the club to get work done and all I could hear were children shouting and screaming. When trying out their “older tennis teen class” (supposedly with 17,18 yr olds) it was actually filled will 11 year olds…and was told that the only other tennis class option was a live-ball session with older men…The initial fee was 2,000 before even paying for the membership…def not worth it unless you only go in the morning or are a mom with kids that need to be entertained…It feel like your at a children's play park more than half the time and the food is mid for the amount you pay for a membership.

This is my favorite gym of all time. I’ve done 24, Gold’s, and LA Fitness over the years and it’s not even close. I signed up in 2015 when it was David Barton then came back in 2024 - wish I did it sooner! IconFit’s staff not only sets a golden standard for gyms, but also with customer service for business. They are super knowledgeable and make me feel at home. The gym is always clean, has towel service plus refreshing eucalyptus ones, and there is plenty of equipment with usually short maintenance time. Tips to note: - Bringing your own lock will save you time and hassle over borrowing from the front desk ($6 Master Lock Black Combination Padlock for Luggage on Amazon) - 2 hour parking validation on weeknights, 3 if you ask nicely (don’t be shy) - Shower before using the cold plunge (self explanatory…) If you are serious about health and SAVING TIME then this is the place for you.

IconFit was the second gym I joined in Los Angeles and it was about everything you could ask for in a gym. Equipment was always available even while busy and the additional amenities (filtered water machines, sauna, etc.) were great. The best part about the place, though, was the people. It was a joy to be able to come in and talk with friends I've made for a brief moment before heading to work out. Some days I enjoyed coming to the gym just to be able to talk to the gym folks. I'd recommend IconFit to anyone who wants to have a luxurious gym experience in a friendly, personable environment. Thanks for everything!

been going here for years. staff is amazing. i normally go in and just do my thing for 30 minutes then im out. never had issues with anything or anyone. lots of machine variety. great place. my favorite gym ive ever been to.

This has to be one of the best gyms on the west side. Clean, maintained and has the Equinox feel without the high prices. Membership is one third the proce of Equinox. Staff is really friendly. Highly recommend.

I've been a member of IconFit for around 2.5 years. There's a lot to like about it from a personal standpoint: 2 minutes drive or 15-20 minutes walk from my house, easy parking, pleasant aesthetically, and recently some top notch new cardio machines have been installed. It's clean and very convenient and I like how most members are all business about workouts and not standing around socializing as much like at other gyms, such as Equinox. But, and I've addressed this directly with the management without any luck, the volume of the music has increased significantly in the last few weeks. I don't mind a gym playing music but it should be in the background, not overwhelming all the acoustics in the place. There are close to 20 speakers circling the gym floor and at any one time, most members work out a short distance from a speaker. For people to hear the music the gym wants to play (not my kind of music either but I can live with it), it is not necessary to keep it at the current default volume, which is the same level whether I go at 11:30 a.m., 2 p.m., or past 4 p.m. I have tried to see if there is a difference depending on what time I go (there is none). It is simply too loud and it's not a matter of opinion. Sometimes there is such a thing as an objective truth. It's really an unpleasant and unenjoyable experience to go to IconFit now and I am very disappointed the management has not turned down the music, just a little. Not a lot to ask.

I absolutely love this gym and have been a member for about 2 years. I feel so comfortable and uninhibited. The membership fee is ridiculously affordable and reasonable for the vibes and community that you get! My favorite part is that I routinely see other queers here - like it’s rare for me to NOT run into a friend or neighbor. Thank you so much for everything 💞

Small and cozy. I feel comfortable and safe here. The locker room is respectful and the staff is cool. I'm sad they removed the bench outside. Great gym!

I love this place. It's a friendly neighborhood gym where everyone is welcome. It's so nice to go to the gym and not have to worry about getting stared at or made to feel like you don't belong there because you're a woman, which, unfortunately, is how I've felt at most other gyms I've been a member of. EVERYBODY is a breath of fresh air! I'm so grateful.

it's really disappointing when places preach diversity and inclusion but really just mean gay and white. i was infuriated after spending an hour there and being the only black person in the room besides a picture of a black yoga instructor in their LA Times cover feature. i give them two stars because the facility is nice, small but comfortable, the outside is cute and they offered a week of free services after Trump's election to foster community. i really support those ideas. i would've considered a membership but yall gotta do better. make an effort to actually bring "everybody" there.

Inclusive in Name Only – A Disappointing Facade If you're looking for a gym that claims to champion inclusivity while doing the bare minimum to actually make people feel welcome, then congratulations — you've found it! I walked into this gym hoping to experience a space where everyone genuinely felt accepted and supported, as my neurodivergence makes it incredibly difficult to be inside larger, mainstream gyms I've tried. Instead, I encountered a hollow marketing ploy wrapped in buzzwords. Sure, they have posters of diverse people on the walls and a couple of rainbow stickers slapped on the entrance, but that's where their effort stops. The staff? Tone-deaf at best, patronizing at worst. I overheard a staff member repeatedly misgendering a member and shrugging it off with, “It’s just too confusing to keep up!” And the so-called “accessible” equipment? A single dusty yoga mat tucked in a corner does not equate to inclusivity. The gym floor is uneven, cramped, poorly laid out, and clearly designed for only the most able-bodied members. The culture? Let’s just say if you don't fit the aesthetic, be prepared for judgmental stares and unsolicited advice from people who somehow think “inclusive” means “anyone I can shame into fitting my mold.” They assumed to know my identity consistently in their self-righteousness. If you get triggered by the staff repeatedly being hostile towards you (something that's a common theme amongst other reviewers), then you are "aggressive." This gym's idea of inclusivity is performative, shallow, and offensive. Instead of investing in real changes — like proper accessibility measures, staff training on disabilities, or safer spaces for beginners — they've poured their energy into slogans and window dressing. If you want a gym that truly respects all bodies, look elsewhere. This place needs to understand that inclusivity isn't a trend or a box to check off — it's a commitment to every single person who walks through the door. They need to do better

Beautiful gym, immaculate modern facilities with kind, warm welcoming staff members. This place creates a community of inspiring athleticism. If you want to up your fitness game and become a better version of yourself, this is the place for that transformation. I love the boutique, yummy Earth Bar smoothies and warm towels! Sauna, steam room and on-site spa. Group fitness classes are great both in quality as well also in forming community bonds. Not to mention you have world class shopping right outside the door at the Century City Mall. What’s not to like? 🩷

I'm very disappointed in the customer service at this specific club. I recently joined it, and I had to freeze my account, which I was told by Daniel that it's okay to freeze up to two months. When I freeze my account, I was charged, and Daniel said that I will be credited for the next month. The next month, when I had to freeze again, I was charged again two months, which is $770. I was very upset, and there was a reason that I no longer was able to come to the Equinox, and I said that I want to cancel my membership. Gina Wong, he connected me with her, and this person was extremely rude, not communicative. Every time when I tried to call her, she would say she would call me back, but never would. Via email, I expressed my feelings, and she said that I cannot freeze my account, I cannot cancel it, and they continue charging me. So it's been three months since I haven't visited the Equinox, and they continue charging me. At this point, I have no choice but to reach out to the CEO of the Equinox, and also, I would never ever advise anyone to join this club, because all they care just about their money. If you ever want to cancel, good luck with that. They care about their money. Gina Wong is just the worst person to deal with it. She would refuse to communicate, she would refuse to call you back, she would refuse to be there for you, especially when you're going through experience with the fires, that I lost part of my business during the fire, and I'm no longer able to pay that Equinox because of the fire, that I was a victim of the fire.

I’d give equinox a 2.5 star rating if I could since there’s an equal amount of pros and cons of getting a membership here. Pros: -unlimited classes -unlimited classes -accessible amenities Cons: 1. horrible customer service, rude misinformed staff 2. no appreciation or loyalty to members 1. I have a student membership at the uc Berkeley location and I truly truly loved my first two months as an equinox member. The classes have amazing instructors at the Berkeley location for all of the classes and I believe they do uphold their instructors to be the highest quality. Another plus is how you can take unlimited classes and this is probably the best part. The most frustrating experiences as a member has been the customer service as none of them are truly well informed. I’m not saying berkeleys location as it’s kind of a special location so the customer service with concierge there was usually accurate, with only small things where I was misinformed but no where near as bad as other locations. As I’m originally from the LA area I went to the century city location multiple times and every time there was some bad mistake by the concierge that was helping me. I don’t mind mistakes as it’s only human but my main frustration was there inability to fix their mess ups. And they would be pretty bad mess ups like one time they charged another customer for something I was supposed to be Charged and it resulted in me missing half of the yoga class I was attending bc I had to talk to the concierge person for a while. After that they made me responsible to fixing the mistake with very bad instructions and I ended up giving up because I was upset at how horrible the service was. Another instance was I chatted with concierge on the app to pause my account as there is a policy that for students at the Berkeley location can pause there account for one month, no fee. I was told very confidently that ALL members (including Berkeley) HAD to pay a pausing fee of $50 multiple times but when I called my location and talked to other members they said that is absolutely wrong. Thankfully I called instead of chatting and they told me that yes I could pause my account for free for a month. I nearly paid the $50 pause fee so I was grateful I checked and tried again and was helped by another staff member that was better informed. 2. Another issue I had with equinox is that I’m paying quite a lot so I’d expect that they would honor loyal customers as that’s usually how it works with luxury companies. I recruited four members to the club as I loved and raved about the gym a lot in the beginning. Then when I’d ask for possible deals on more guest passes (as literally every one of my guests ended up signing up) or like possible day passes for when I’d go back home on break at LA locations, they would never ever honor any favors to loyal members. I understand that’s not promised when you bring in new members to sign up for equinox too but you’d think they would treat you with some little favors when politely asked. I also believe bringing in 4 members to join equinox is quite a pretty penny and I just think for the price u pay for this gym, there should be way better service.

The staff at the front desk exhibit a troubling lack of professionalism and maturity. Their attitude is consistently poor, and they seem ill-equipped to handle client interactions effectively. Considering this is one of the most expensive gyms in Los Angeles, this level of service is both unacceptable and disappointing.

Convenient location and beautiful gym, but not enough value or respect given to individual members and their needs. Even after being a member for over 7 years and consistently paying for personal training/pilates sessions, the manager doesn’t have the time to help resolve member issues/problems. They fired my Pilates instructor the day they asked me to buy another package of sessions without informing me that my instructor would no longer be returning; and now when I requested a refund for the remaining sessions they tell me they are non refundable. After speaking with the general manager regarding this issue, she reassured me she would come up with a solution by last Saturday… still haven’t heard from her. I have called and left a few messages for her since then.. and keep being told she’s in meetings. Hopefully this review reaches someone who can actually help.

Visiting from Chicago and loved our meal at The Grill plus our stay in the suites. Jonathan Club's impeccable attention to detail of the Town Club as they've modernized it really shine.

My wife and I had the opportunity to eat dinner at the JONATHAN club last Friday. We were in Los Angeles for business meetings and were able to go there the last night of our trip. Daniel at the front desk was so helpful. He explained to us the history of the club as he signed us in. It’s a beautiful place. The dinner was amazing. We will return.

Our wedding at the Jonathan Club was nothing short of magical! The venue itself breathes elegance, perfectly complemented by the team's exceptional service. Our guests have not stopped raving about the experience, and we are profoundly grateful for the dedication and care exhibited by everyone involved. The Jonathan Club is not just a venue with a rich history; it's a place where special moments are curated with excellence and grace. Thank you, Kaitlynn and the Jonathan Club team, for making our wedding day truly memorable. We couldn’t have asked for a more perfect setting and service.

This place is really historic! Very nice. Too bad is members only but if you get invited to go here is beautiful!
