LA Fitness

Update as of January 27, 2025 the pool & hot tub is still closed yet they advertise that we have a pool. There’s water in it but has been closed for 6 years. You cannot get an answer as to when the pool will open. Can’t find paper towels anywhere to wiped down equipment. Weights are all over the place. Granted members should put them back but you have a lot of staff sitting around and playing on their phones. I would love to get paid for sitting around and doing nothing but chat it up with other staff members and watch tv or text on my phone. They post no large bags on the floor but they don’t enforce it and I’ve caught myself tripping several times overs large gym bags. If I get hurt, La Fitness will be paying my medical bills. The free weight area is worse as staff do not re-rack the weights at the end of the night (members should as well) but management leaves the gym a mess. Broke. Treadmills which is old as hell, missing pins so you can’t use the machines. Weights all over the place and not put back. I wish I could rate it a negative 0 but I had to give a star (forced) in order to write a review. They never replaced the old Ellipticals and treadmills when they closed for renovations. The gym smells of bad body odor and mold. Missing pins from equipment. You gotta love the FAKE REVIEWS giving 5 stars about staff. Staff and even trainers are always on the phone, whether they are texting or watching something. Kids club closed down. They can't keep knowledgeable and talented instructors. Not many classes being offered at this location. Forget about air conditioning, they place fans through the gym blowing around. They use to have spray bottles for members to clean off equipment, they got very cheap and no more. They have wipes that dry out and not enough paper towels. So many fake reviews about staff. Staff are always on their phone texting or watching movies/shows. Beware. I do not recommend signing up at the North Brunswick Location. The gym is is big and has potential but as you see from the photos taken on 5/28/2022 the building is not safe. The pool has not been open for almost a year. Pins for weights are missing, ceiling tiles are missing and when it rains, water gets in. You can smell mold. Plenty of equipment have been broken for over 6 months or longer and they keep a sign on “schedule for service”. In the free weight area, there are holes in the concrete. Good Luck finding dumbbells and plates of 5 and —.

Went to this location a couple of months ago to check the gym out due to the reviews. I did not want to show my ID for the guest pass so they asked to provide 6 friends/family names and phone number to refer… plus a 5 star review before being able to even check the gym out I declined leaving the review before hand and wrote down a bunch of fake phone numbers and names. Do not believe the iffy 5 star reviews this place has they are being unethical. Anyways this place sucks many broken machines, pool is closed, people go in sauna with nasty shoes on 🤢 stay away

The staff is super friendly and helpful but unfortunately it appears they are overworked. It’s clean and the machines are well maintained, however, sometimes when a machine breaks it takes weeks or more to repair. I’ve been going there for a year and a half and the pool has never been open during that time. The most frustrating part of working out there is that the dumbbells are almost never on the racks. The members leave them scattered around the gym. PUT THE WEIGHTS BACK WHEN YOU'RE DONE!! You’re at the gym dammit, stop being lazy!

I’ve been coming to LA Fitness for a while now, and Dara at the front desk consistently makes my experience great! She is always welcoming, friendly, and goes above and beyond to make everyone feel comfortable and valued. Dara is quick to answer questions, assist with membership needs, and handle any concerns professionally. Her positive attitude and warmth create such a welcoming environment every time I walk through the door. LA Fitness is lucky to have her!

Working out at LA fitness in North Brunswick has been a great experience, thanks to Dara! She was incredibly helpful when I first started out at the gym answering all the questions I had and making sure I had everything I needed in order to workout. Her professional attitude truly made a difference, and I greatly appreciate the extra effort she put in to assist me. I highly recommend this gym, thanks to dedicated staff members like Dara!
