I was initially planning to switch to another gym due to some miscommunication. However thanks to the exceptional customer service provided by Melly or Melanie, I’ve completely changed my mind. Her dedication and professionalism have truly stood out and because of her, I’ve decided to return to this gym after my current contract ends. Huge thumbs up for her outstanding service!👍👍

Worst gym I have ever been to. One of the ladies who works here does not care about the customers at all. The equipment is always messy or broken. They add so many extra fees to make money. The dumbbells are always all over the place. Plates are scrambled and unorganized. Leg extension machines(all of them) are crooked and slanted. The cable machines are all old and uneven in the upstairs floor. I'll say two nice things about this gym because majority is negative. They have lots of treadmills and the bathroom looks decent. Outside of that, this gym is not good at all. They charged me extra and I got the lady on the phone was no help and said it is not their fault when her co worker was the one that told me my issues here with payment were resolved. I can not make this up, she then proceeds to not answer any calls because she knows what they did is wrong but because its "policy" she can hide behind it and not actually help.

I’ve been charged $108 MONTHLY by Speakeasy Los Angeles, and I just realized they’ve been taking money from my account for months without proper notice. Canceling the membership is a nightmare!!! it's nearly impossible to get in touch with anyone to resolve this. At this price point ($108), I’d rather go to John Reed or another gym that offers more transparency and better service. Now I have to cancel my card just to stop the charges. Feels like a complete scam. Avoid at all costs!

very-very-very bad gym I cancelled my membership 2 months ago, the staff told me that they cancelled your membership. But they lied to me. It turns out that they didn't cancel it. The staff works very badly. I didn't use the membership and didn't come to the gym, but they took my money twice, once $35, once $69. This is not a gym, there are scammers, thieves, don't come to this gym, it's a very, very bad gym, they are thieves. They only know how to withdraw money from your bank card, that's all. 👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻

The gym presents a spacious and stylish environment, with a plethora of equipment ensuring minimal wait times for users. An impressive abundance of restrooms, paired with the luxury of a sauna room, amplifies the facility's upscale feel. However, there are operational shortcomings: a scarcity of water refill stations compromises convenience, while the neglectful etiquette of not re-racking free weights diminishes the otherwise pristine ambiance. The absence of 2.5lbs plates is a noticeable gap in the equipment roster, potentially hampering fine-tuned weight adjustments for serious trainers. Overall, while the gym impresses in its aesthetics and scale, there's room for improvements in functionality and user discipline.

Good gym - clean, nice equipment, and good environment. But they ALWAYS change their operating hours seemingly at a whim. Here on Sunday at 2:20 PM during summer hours and they're closed. Just last week, they were open at their advertised times. Tried asking the staff at Lyon Center Gym (the one a block's walk away) and they just shrugged. 🤣

Such a great facility to workout at, when it isn't teaming with people. If you get there early or just before it closes, it's possible to get a great workout in undisturbed. Otherwise, expect a wait. Despite being smaller than the gym at Lyon Center and open for shorter hours, I'd argue that the Village Fitness Center is a much more welcoming bet.

They really have to do something about their opening hours. It’s so confusing. It’s still a school week and I’m here at 11 AM and it’s suddenly open from 1 PM… This just keeps happening over and over again.

Everything is clean and well maintained. Staff are friendly and helpful. Equipment is of good quality and in good repair. Plenty of dumbbells all the way up to 115lbs+, with duplicates of most weights. Benches in the free weight area can have a wait time, but it is usually not too long. I do not recommend going in the hour before closing because it is hectic and hard to secure equipment to get on.

As an up and coming power lifter currently working towards a 3 plate bench and 5 plate squat and deadlift, I have been to a multitude of gyms across the world. Among all the gym staff I have encountered, Mr. Luke Langlois is the best staff member I have interacted with. Upon first impression, Mr. Langlois was dressed extremely professionally and greeted me with a warm, friendly smile. He swiftly but gracefully moved his tablet from one end to the other to scan my phone and made sure to carefully examine my Trojan check. He understands that gym member and staff safety is crucial and should be taken seriously, especially during this pandemic period. As such, he makes sure to carefully check his device to make sure there is in discrepancies between the Trojan check and the presenter. With such an focused outlook on his role as a gym staff, I truly believe that Mr. Langlois deserves a raise.

Honestly I used to work out at Golds in downtown and La fitness. The reason why I switched is because both of those gyms were becoming increasingly more and more packed with little to no room to Lift. Weight times for machines were out of control. Planet fitness at this location is never that busy even at peak times. Working out here gets the job done and there is room for everyone.

Theres only been one fully working rowing machine out if about six for over a year. The rest all have broken foot holders or pull bars, I've notified the staff multiple times. Very frustrating as its the only machine i use there. Please get it fixed. Edit: can you give me a real response please? Not the "we're so concerned about your satisfaction" response you gave while providing no solution. Will you them fixed or not?

Have been coming here for a while now and for the past few weeks, I had noticed that some of the machines had a missing pin to hold the weights. As of today. 90% of the machines there are useless since the pins are all gone and if there are loose ones. People take them to the machine that they want to use. To make it worse. Staff had put PENS into the weights where the pin is supposed to be. I will most likely canceling my membership here. Here are 3 pictures I took on different machines to show how they "fixed" the issue

Just tried this location for the first time. The machines are newer than at other locations, TVs, Bluetooth, pairing to Apple Watch, generally less creaking and need for WD-40. It’s a Saturday and it wasn’t super crowded. Didn’t have to wait on any equipment. What could it work on? There isn’t much order to their strength machines. The other locations have better flow as far as areas to concentrate on certain muscles. The employees are either super shy or hate all of us. This is the only spot where you’re not greeted with sparkles, but how long am I really gonna hang with them up front? Two hours free parking. Don’t forget to validate in the little box on the right side of the counter … cos they won’t do it for you. 🤣

(Update) Visited again after a week and was pleased to see that all the machines now have the pins! Thank you for the quick action—this is definitely a 5-star gym! I look forward to continuing my workouts here!! ____________________ I've been here for a month and appreciate the clean facilities and friendly staff. Recently, though, most machines have been missing pins, creating a cycle where members take pins for themselves, leaving others without!! Staff mentioned new pins are coming this week, so I’ll update my review soon.

Its a $15 membership so its good for the price. My small complaints are that paper towels for cleaning run out fast during peak hours and machines are limited so you’ll probably be waiting for the ones you want when they’re busy. Otherwise it’s pretty good. Free parking for 2 hours and all that

Been a member over a year and loved coming here. Now, none of the machines work because someone stole the pins. Perhaps leaving this review will help in making the necessary fixing. And please, you contact the manager directly and not your clients.

So it's been a few months since my last post, and I haven't noticed any improvement. Here is a couple more pictures of the etiquette at this location. Arrived at 5am when they had just opened and found an empty red bull from the night before. Weights strewn all over the floor and a guy had his stuff in the way. Honestly wake up staff. Original Post: Management is in need of an extreme wake-up. 1. The staff is useless. They do a decent job of folding towels and greeting you from behind the counter. That is all. At any given time, there are 2-3 people standing around with no real purpose. My suggestion, get them to reorganize the weights at the end of the night. If they show they care, maybe the customers will too. At the very least, they will be earning their paycheck. 2. Cleanliness is lacking. I've been here about 6 times in the last couple of weeks, normally before 2 pm, and I've only seen the cleaning staff one time, same Hispanic lady. She was cleaning the windows one of the times. The sanitizing sprays usually barely have any in them, and I've shown up at 5 in the morning when they open. 3. It is very overcrowded. That's obviously a good thing. Use the staff to enforce some sort sort of order. I've seen a diverse number of clients with no gym etiquette whatsoever, who better to learn this from than the staff. I seriously doubt you will lose clientele to suffer a loss. Let me not only post all the bad but the few good. The towel availability is a great thing. 3 hour free parking is very good. That is about it. Recommend for the manager to take a trip to Santa Anita mall Golds Gym and see where to set the bar. Will update in a month or two in hopes that I see more pros or possibly a change in the way business is run.

This is my first ever gym membership. Glad I made the decision to try it out. I’m still new to the gym, but so far it has been a good experience. It’s a decently sized gym, but still has good equipment. The PT I was assigned to has done a wonderful job at making me feel welcomed and has taught me new techniques to improve my workouts. I hope it continues to be a good experience for me every time I go. It is packed full of guys most of the time, but if you mind your business and blast your music in your ears, you should be okay! 😁👌🏼

EDIT from 1 star to 4 stars: After leaving this review, management at Gold's has called me to resolve the below experience. They confirmed that the deals should not have been sold as a package. I've been refunded the training days and been assured that this type of behavior isn't in line with the values of the gym and will be addressed with the team. It's very good to know that the team at Gold's takes this type of behavior seriously. I'll be staying at Gold's due to their professional response. ORIGINAL: My experience at this Gym has been alright, but the salesmen did swindle me out of extra money when selling the membership. I was offered a "special deal" where I could get my first and last month off, as well as a permanent $5 off monthly, if I bought 5 trainer days. I learned that deal is on the website without the need to purchase any trainer days. I'm severely disappointed with the management of this branch. To be clear, I would not have bought the trainer days if I did not believe I was saving money on my membership. My personal trainer has been perfect. He's taught me many things I need to know about different muscle groups and how to hit them all properly, as well as the diet required for my goals. I simply wish I had more time with him for the amount that I spent on the meetings, now that i know they weren't really part of any deal. I won't be supporting a Gym that takes advantage of it's customers, and after I've used up my training days I will be switching to a different gym. They don't deserve any loyalty after conducting deals in that fashion. Otherwise, my experience at this gym has been relatively average. Like most gyms in LA, it's pretty understaffed, the weight rack is disorganized, but you can go and get a workout done easily. I do enjoy the class selection that they have.

There have been a lot of reviews about this gym allowing homeless people (who are members) to lounge around in the gym. It is true. It may be bad for business, but the owner of the gym allows it anyway. As far as I'm concerned, this gym is doing the Lord's work. I commend them for trying to help others in a city that is rampant with homeless people. The bottom line is that the gym has all the equipment and facilities you need to improve your health. The gym is well maintained/clean. And the pricing is a great value: it's open 24 hours, 7 days a week. They even offer classes. So there are no excuses to getting on the road to fitness.

Super chill gym, everyone I've encountered is respectful and mindful of others, on the gym floor. Locker rooms are a bit hectic at times so, be wary of no space on the benches , or the occasional dude who just HAS to be butt naked for some reason even though towels ,and shorts exist 🤣 I usually go between 12am-7am. And the place is basically empty. Overall great place to work out.

The people up front make or break the experience you have to ask them why they aren’t smiling ? You have to ask them why they are in a bad mood. It’s better to go to another location and the toilets are always filled. There’s parking and showers. It’s unsettling to be in a gym where it doesn’t feel welcoming and you get whatever energy they have on them!

I’ve been a loyal planet fitness member for over two years now and it’s been the best thing I’ve done to help myself be fit and healthy… This plant fitness in Los Angeles, does not have warm water for their showers and if you use the restroom to wash your hands. Cold water , no warm water. I showered in lukewarm water not so good . This is cruel and unusual water situation at planet fitness , hopefully management will look into the matter and address any issues that may concern a member regardless of my race. Thank you

Went to LA Boulder on the recommendation of a friend, and it's located in the art district of LA. The day pass is 30 dollars, which is about the same as other large climbing gyms in southern California. After checking in, you'll notice that the place is pretty spacious. I went on a Saturday morning, and it was not packed at all. They do the v-system rating here, but depending on who set the route, it can be a fairly soft grade or about right. The facility has a gym as well as the bouldering side. They have a few free weights, campus board, and pull up bar as well as cardio machines on their second floor. About half of the climbs you're able to top out on, so if you're looking for a place to be able to top out, this one has you covered. The cave that they have support long routes with a lead/top rope rating system without the ropes since it's not extremely high off the mats. However, they do have halfway points that are considered finished routes for the bouldering side. The community is friendly here as with most climbing gyms I go to, and if you're in the area, check it out. I plan to visit the other touchstone gyms and will compare it to this one.

I came here with my friends as first time climbers, the first time the gym was more busy than usual but we were still able to have a good time. The second time we came in the gym was not busy and we had a good time trying different climbs. The staff are friendly and the restrooms are clean. They also have an area for free weights. Parking can be a hassle causing you to park somewhere else and needing to pay. Very good gym overall and fun hobby!

This gym is AMAZING. I truly love it here. Old school community vibes with modern walls and new holds, it's the best of both worlds! The staff are incredibly friendly, and it's clear that permeates into the culture here. I think the day pass, for what the gym offers, is a little over priced, but that seems to be the going rate at gyms out here. Kinda challenging to pay that often when you're just passing through. Get a membership if you like it here, best way to save money. Overall though, fantastic gym! -Anonymous Climbing Gym Reviewer

Really great place, even if you have never done climbing before. Since I have no idea what I’m doing, I love to just take long breaks and watch professionals do crazy crazy stuff! Everyone is friendly and chill. Whenever you are coming with a big group or by yourself you’ll have fun. Note: LA Boulders website provides some useful safety and etiquette information 😊. Street parking is quite challenging, but there’s a paid parking structure close by.

The staff they have are so rude for some reason. And they are on their phones and eating while on the clock. I get they have breaks but when you're on the clock and get made for me asking about a membership it makes no sense. I have a black card I had brought a guess with me. And I got the massage bed for my guest with MY MEMBERSHIP. The staff got mad at me and said that they were not allowed to use the bed even though they were my guess. And I have done this before and no staff have ever told me this before. So I don’t see the problem. And when I tried to offer a fist bump to kinda “swash the beef” the dude said he was eating and rolled his eyes at me. Like my bad for trying to use the membership I am paying for and using the perks that come with it. No need to roll your eyes and make a scene in a public place. When there are people that slam weights which is against their rules. They checked me for using my membership. The new staff they have hired have such attitude problems and feel superior or something to be so rude to the gym goers. My friend is now hesitant to even go near this location due to the rude and poor quality of the staff.

All of the PF are clean and the staff are always friendly. Idk why/how people have bad reviews. This is how nice the staff are there: There was a homeless lady who walked in and got water. They attempted to stop her when she first walked in (which is understandable) but they allowed her to drink. Upon finishing drinking some water, she dashed into the bathroom. The gentleman was telling her to not go in but she did. He informed a female staff member and she went inside the bathroom. I was on the treadmill so I don't know what was said. Fast forward to the lady leaving. They told her she can't use the bathroom and that it is for members. A staff member went in the bathroom and cleaned it. My point is, they showed her compassion which is rare these days. They could have been rude and disrespectful. They could have ushered her out. They actually had the right to refuse her, but they didn't. They could have called the police or security because the lady was trespassing, however, they did not. Two thumbs up to the staff there. I am not sure if this is the PF on Wilmington or Hawthorne. So to be clear, this incident transpired at the PF on Wilmington.

EDIT: I am downgrading this to a two star review. Lately, management has been playing Fox News on literally ever other TV in the whole gym. It's inesacapable. Can't lift, run, or even change in the locker room without having to look at racist, misogynist drivel. Original Review: This is my “home” gym, and it is by far my favorite of the SoCal Equinoxes I’ve visited. Very well laid out. Spacious locker room. I have never run into an issue of cleanliness or broken equipment. Regulars are a mix of professionals working in West LA, with a smattering of grad students and retired folks. Feels fairly low attitude - especially compared to Beverly Hills. Class schedule is pretty robust and the instructors i’ve met have all been excellent. Perhaps most importantly, it’s never really that crowded, while always feeling lively.

Why are we paying more per month when the quality and amenities of the gym have gone down? The steam room has been out of order for weeks, the scale in the men’s locker room is broken, the snack bar/smoothie shop downstairs has been closed for at least a week, and the new equinox brand soaps in the bathroom are extremely low quality and gave one of my friends a RASH on their head. If you are increasing the price 3-4 times in a single year on people, you MUST increase the value they are getting from the service you are providing. Who the hell is running the show here? They should be fired.

Very disappointed of this what called‘Luxury gym” they don’t value honesty or integrity. I have contacted them hundreds time for refund since I wasn’t able to practice,, they asked for doctor note and even after I did provide it , the manager in NYC told me that she will be contacting team in LA. However, they email me like they don’t know anything, and then when I respond I only receive auto messages . They all care about how they could charge for anything,, but they have no integrity,,it’s really not classy or luxury when it comes to customer service. Very cheap CS honestly. If I could do zero stars, that what I could give. Thank you!

We signed up because of the swimming lessons for the child, but I also tried swimming - and everything was clean, the pool wasn’t crowded and sauna/steam/jacuzzi were a great bonus too! I like the option of reserving the line. I am not going to be using the gym - it seems a little too crowded and not well equipped for me. But i tried yoga and I will be doing it from time to time.

So me and my son went to the YMCA for first time and I let him swim for one hour but before that I thought that they have dryers and every boys girls women’s and men’s room locker room and there was no thdryers in boys and girls room so my son had to get out of YMCA with wet hair and I’m worried about him to don’t get sick. by the way, when I ask the staff who they were there for help help me they were not they don’t have any good manners and they were rude and they didn’t help me anymore even they dident care. i’m so sorry for this situation. I thought the YMCA it’s the place for the family care and member care and I didn’t know that’s much careless.

Not worth 105$, because classes and swimming pool always full and they will hold your right to reserve spot for classes if you don’t check in with the coat h even though nobody tell you to do that. To cancel your membership you have to email and that takes 30 days to get processed. Insane!!!! Get cheaper gyms with way more benefits. The staff always not helpful and can’t fix anything!!!! Otherwise the facility clean and nice.

This place is always packed no matter what time you go there. The equipment is limited and it's constantly in use so you end up waiting and practically begging for a turn. The most ridiculous part is that there is only one portable fan for all the rooms and whenever you go to the cardio room for example it's not there so you're left struggling to breathe with everyone sweating! They say we have to move it back and forth, sorry! By the way they charge you for the parking daily! And almost impossible to find a spot in the area! On top of that, people are constantly dropping weights and not a single employee says anything when they see that. It's just so annoying and distracting. Not recommended at aaaaalllll!

When the Westside Family YMCA closed down, I became a member of David Barton Gym and then Equinox. Now I am definitely glad to be going to the Collins and Katz YMCA for lots of reasons. The first is it is near me to drive and not too far of a walk as well. I want to mention some people, Kalena is very nice and helpful and patient. Joseph is also very nice and helpful and I enjoy talking to both of them. As for working out I used to not have a routine and so I didn't enjoy going to the gym. A major change happened when I took personal training sessions with Carl. I learned a lot from our sessions, because Carl is a fantastic trainer with lots of knowledge and expertise. Thanks to our sessions, I am going consistently to the gym and I am loving working out and am motivated to see the progress I can make and see great results. So these are my thoughts, thank you and have a great day!

I tried to join equinox not just for my personal use but also explored whether to bring my corporate company team to equinox but the system is chaotic and as a result utterly unreliable in terms of making any training or spa appointments or even trying to pay for these sessions - I can’t bring my business account here as the service is poor and on 2 attempts to book simple private training and physio sessions all appointments got lost or dropped from their system so I turn up both times and both times there is nothing on the system recorded - there is double bookings and the system on both occasions dropped my account off their system - I have wasted so much of my time -equinox is definately not worth wasting time with - looks glossy and fantastic but the critical service required to support that is lacking to a shocking degree. My experience was frustrating and wasted money and time and my advise is Do not join this gym. In LA there are plenty of better gyms with higher basic level of service support.

Hello, I had a contract for one year, there was an automatic payment, the contract ended 2 months ago, a letter came about the end of the contract, I have been going to another gym for 2 months now, and yesterday I discovered that they are still writing off my monthly payment in the amount of 287 dollars, I write letters to the general manager, the concierge, there is no answer from either of them for 5 days, I call the concierge, they say that the contract goes into leasing after a year, and your membership is still active!!! Why does no one talk about this at the time of signing? Why does not any confirmation of this come? Do I want to renew the contract or not??? I did not expect this from a company like you ... this is more like a scheme to profit from other people's money!!!! No recalculation and does not want to return my money, although there was no activity during this period! I am obliged to know about all this myself, I am obliged to call you myself, so that it turns out to be canceled my membership! Scam! Because of people like you, I never want to set up automatic payments, so as not to fall for such tricks to give away money!

In regard to equipment and overall quality, I was fairly happy with the gym outside of limited business hours and so many members that the equipment was never available (especially if you work a 9-5 and go in before 8a or after 5p). DO NOT trust or sign up with Jan, he is highly unprofessional and will ghost you the moment your credit card hits auto bill. He dodged my emails for 2 weeks when I tried to cancel, I had to eventually call in and find someone else who would allow me to cancel without the obvious gimmicks. If you have the budget for a luxury gym don’t waste your money here.

Today marks the sixth day this month that I have had to leave the gym several seconds after walking in because there are no machines available whatsoever. I understand that there are rush hours for every gym however, it has gotten simply out of hand at the Equinox gyms in Los Angeles especially the one in Hollywood. Multiple trainers are taking on clients during rush hour and holding multiple machines at the time per client. This practice doesn’t make any sense and it shouldn’t be allowed. Today I was making my way towards the only open machine and I was cut off by a trainer who was literally running to get there before I could. I have also gone up to seemingly empty machines only to have a trainer tell me it was one of several bring reserved for their client’s workout. The trainer proceeded to leave said machine unoccupied for 20 minutes — longer than I would have needed it. I joined equinox for the promised amenities — one of which was limited capacity. This clearly is a promise that they have failed to uphold. They care more about commissions for new contracts than the fact that this gym is overrun. Not only are you wasting my money; you’re wasting my time.

Sorry but I have to agree with the other user. The gym is just too full and all the machines are often occupied. This could easily be solved by leaving the gym open 24/7 because then people could come outside of the rush hour. The gym itself is clean and offers a lot of training rooms. Nice.
