Best Gym near Phoenix, Arizona

I absolutely love the YMCA. This particular branch has incredible staff members. The before and after school program has been amazing for my family. My kids are happy and have great relationships with the staff. The gym is older, but it has everything you need and a bit more. It is clean and well maintained. The overall community is supportive and inclusive. I highly recommend becoming a member. It is evident that this branch works hard to build community, and I love being a part of that.

Disappointed with this facility. I help drop off our friend’s child every day to YMCA child care. Yesterday after dropping off, my three year old needed to use the restroom, but upon asking we were told he wasn’t allowed to go to the bathroom. I was genuinely surprised at the lack of empathy for a 3 year old that really needed to go to the bathroom.

I love this Y. the staff and members are kind, helpful, and respectful of everyone. they truly embody all the principles of YMCA. a very special place right in the heart of downtown Phoenix. thank you YMCA

I don’t normally leave reviews but the YMCA has been everything I’ve wanted and more. Staff is kind and treats people with respect. The facilities are fantastic. The basketball court and gym have an old school feel to them and still have all the necessary equipment. I’m truly happy that I’ve been able to come and work out and be a small part of this place.

We love our YMCA. Very positive and encouraging environment. Good to see all the children well cared for until parents pick them up. Thank you, dear YMCA.

The students working there could provide better service. Some are rude or awkward. I guess they need more experience. They have a variety of machines. The YMCA right next door is nice and they have a pool and a bigger locker room. Overall, the machines are nice and have big screens.

If you enjoy working out with a mask, making reservations to do your workout, and don’t need parking… then this is your place. I joined ASUFC at the beginning of January. It has a good selection of equipment and is walking distance from my house, which is great because they don’t have parking. Once classes began at ASU in mid- January, a mass policy was suddenly mandated in the gym & members were required to reserve work out times in advance. I literally can’t work out in a mask because it’ll cause me to hyperventilate. Fortunately I was paying the monthly membership so I just took the loss. There was no mention of these rules being implemented when I first joined 12 days earlier. That seems like a bait and switch to me.

Great place to workout. But if you're a student be aware that you'll have to pay a monthy fee in between semesters. Might as well buy a YMCA Membership next door that includes parking instead of this ASU Membership.

Good place to get your workout done. Very little people to bother you. Everyone mind's their own business. Not a place to bring guests as it's too expensive. Right in front of the lightrail so you don't have to walk far after leg day.

The SDFC at the downtown Phoenix location is definitely downscaled from its bigger brother down at Tempe. However, they provide enough equipment to get a good workout, and the addition of the YMCA attached to the building means you'll be hard-pressed to get a sweat going. Wish there were more weights than cardio machines though.

Such a welcoming gym, love the atmosphere and supportive trainers. If you’ve been looking for a great gym I would definitely recommend University of SAQ.

Amazing facility, top notch equipment and great environment. Good service with friendly staff ! from beginners to professional athletes to train at!! LOVE THIS PLACE 🔥👏🏽💪🏽 They also have 2 Massage therapists, Nail tech ,a hair braider , and a barber it’s like a little spa ♥️ so convenient!!

This is a great gym. I’m very happy that I decided to start my fitness journey at this gym. The staff members are very supportive.L The group classes are advanced, and the instructors are absolutely amazing and uplifting. They also have a 9 o’clock kids class that I love to take my kids to. This is a great gym.

I stayed as a guest for four nights. The building is clean, well maintained and staffed, and is in a good location. Everything with the room was great accept the bed was horrible. It was a murphy bed that felt like sleeping on a door. A futon would be more comfortable. I'll spend a little more, somewhere else, for an adequate bed next time.

I had a great experience at Kenect! Check-in and check-out were quick and easy. Dimiriae was incredibly helpful in answering all my questions, and both he and Faray were very friendly and accommodating. I truly appreciated their assistance during my stay. I would definitely stay here again!

Had a fantastic stay here, and was amazingly impressed by FaRay at the front desk. Very fun personality, who also knew how to be professional and courteous. Probably my favorite front-desk person at any hotel ever! Hotel is in a great location, wonderful rooms, and an amazing roof area. Price was right as well, compared to other places nearby. 100% would go again.

The building is perfectly located in the middle of downtown Phoenix. The apartment is very clean and has everything you need for a multi-day stay. The rooftop pool is a nice extra. But the highlight is Faray and the entire front desk team. They really help you with everything and make you feel at home right away. Thank you very much!

I loved this place so much everyone was so nice and made us feel safe and comfortable! It was not loud at night and the place was so perfect for our stay! Faray was extra amazing and really help us with new door keys and the manager of the property was there and made sure we got all of our things in our car before we left and that was so nice!

When I first joined, I thought I’d be leaving this studio a 5-star review. The workouts and coaches were excellent. However, a series of billing issues soured my entire Orangetheory experience. Despite requesting refunds for multiple auto-billing errors, the final charge wasn’t refunded. I had communicated my intention to leave in December from the moment I joined and didn’t use the classes from that package. Orangetheory can be a great choice if you commit to one membership rate long-term. However, if you need flexibility or a short-term membership like I did, be prepared for potential frustrations. Edit: Thank you to Cameran for reaching out and resolving the billing issues completely :)

I love this gym so much. I’ve lost 25+ lbs and recovered from shoulder and knee injuries. I’m 63 and after 6 months I’ve regained balance and reflexes I thought were gone for good. The manager, Amy, is amazing. The whole crew is professional and kind; the other member are so nice.

What an unexpected gem! I travel a lot for work and have been to at least 50 or more OTF studios around the country. I don’t think I’ve ever been to one where the vibe is so on point. I felt welcomed, encouraged, and motivated to give my all to the workout. I was in town for a conference and expected to go 1–2 times, but the energy I got from this studio was so great, I planned my days around making sure I got to OTF. Thank you to Amy and the rest of the team for creating such a welcoming place. You’ll definitely see me next time I’m in Phoenix—I’d go out of my way to visit again!!

I'm not new to OTF... years in actually but I love this studio because of the people who work there!! Amy is *amazing* at what she does... you can tell she cares & knows what she's talking about & motivates! Makenna is full of energy & life & pumps you up while also keeping a close eye on your workouts so you know how to improve where you can improve. Julia at the front is so sweet and helpful. I'm really glad I tried something different & it's worth the little drive it takes me each time.

I recently decided I needed to get back into shape. I decided Orangetheory Fitness would be a good place to start as they are known for their water rowers and I have one at home. I am in my late 50's so different from the average gym attendee. However, Coach Amy, the studio manager, has been so welcoming and giving me lots of tips to help me get up to speed. It feels so good to get my heart rate up into the "orange" and "red" zones! I love Orangetheory Fitness!

Met Brendon and told him about my challenges of gaining 50lbs during covid and not being motivated. I have spent hundreds on gym memberships to not show up. When i did show up to the gym i never could find myself motivated to workout. I gave downtown flex a try and their unique way of engaging you and getting you into the workouts has changed the game for me. I look forward to the workouts and defiantly feel like im going to hit all of my goals.

I have been going here for a little under a year, came in with a little knowledge of lifting bur with Braidens help we are getting my Mt body dialed in and maybe even a show in the works. He is not only a coach but just also consider him a friend. A fantastic gym to train at! I had a great experience yesterday. Updated showers are exquisite, and steam room has new tile and stone which is new from the last time I was there. Pool area was gorgeous. Despite some snippy reviews, I found the place as an extremely clean and well maintained facility. I bought a membership as I plan to be there more, wow. The activity areas are clean and maintained. Staff are on top of any issues. I felt safe, relaxed, and comfortable here and that felt amazing. I look forward to killing time here in the future.

I was visiting from Chicago and had an available Monday so I decided to pass the time here. I am not sure I will do so again. Being a Monday afternoon I expected it to be somewhat slow which that was fine. I had hours to spare. I rented a medium room which was clean but a locker would have sufficed during these hours. I will say that the staff was very friendly! They were working and during my visit closed areas temporarily to give them a cleaning to be reopened right after. This I appreciated! While exploring I developed a couple splinters due to the wood fixtures that were in the dark. I understand the lighting situation but when having to navigate with hands it can cause issues. Although the steam room was cleaned the steam was not running consistently so it was like sitting in a damp room. There seemed to be only two bathroom stalls and one urinal in the establishment. The urinal itself was out of service. Perhaps there were more in other areas but none that I came across. The shower area had equipment in it I guess for repairs so only two of the showers were usable. Biggest sadness was that the pool was also out of service. The hot tub was accessible at this time however. Some of the public seating areas were tattered and torn. Sadly I was not by the time I left. If I could be guaranteed more (if not all) of the amenities would be in working order I would give this place another chance my next visit.

My husband & I always enjoy coming to Flex. We are always greeted by the front staff. We enjoy sitting at the pool & hot tub. We also like the blackout nights & meeting new people. Sometimes the other customers who are walking around are very rude & they like to push people around in the dark room, but other than that. We have so much fun @ Flex. We are looking forward to spending our fun time next week during Thanksgiving weekend.

The staff was the standout. They were friendly and helpful and perceptive. Not as epic as the Flex in Cleveland but I like all the mirrored doors and clean with the right touch of sleaze. Certain parts were a bit too cold though

I think the steam room needs BETTER cleaning more regularly as it smelled like mold when I was there. I'd suggest some lemon or eucalyptus scent

We hired William Warren to train our dog. He stated to us that it will be $300 for 10 sessions. We paid him gave him our particulars and address. We agreed on a date that he will start the sessions and he never showed up. We tried contacting him for a good month and a half and he kept avoiding our efforts to get in contact with him. Eventually we spoke and he agreed to refund our money from a week of our conversation. More than a week went by and no refund, plus he is avoiding our messages to return our money for services not rendered. This is very unprofessional for a LLC company and not good business. His excuse was he didn't know we lived far away when in the beginning we gave him our address. If there was a survey for customer service he wouldn't get any stars and I hope people read this to protect themselves from people like William.

I visited this gym plenty times. There is this young man, I think he said Kasim? I am in from 6pm til someday 9pm, I'll go out to my sprinter and return at 1am - 3am and each time, he'll clean the shower for someone if they ask, the stalls if they ask, the sink area.. That's what I appreciate. I included a few photos That employee there now really knows what he is doing with the cleaning. I operate cleaning businesses that sends porters out to clean company hotels and he cleans better than my tenured employees in the mens. Great work!

Sunday evening around 5:30pm I first entered the club to use the restroom and planned to return to my car to gather my gym outfit. Melinda, at the front desk, asked if I was planning to work out. I thought that was an odd question. I said yes and she told me slides (the shoes I walked in with) are not allowed on the equipment. I told her my shoes were in my car and I was just running in to use the restroom. She then threatened to have me leave if she caught me on the equipment with my slides - I thought that was a non-customer friendly exchange. When I walked into the restroom area, I found the entire locker room a mess. There was trash overflowing and the floors were dirty. I decided not to use the gym today due partly to the odd communication but especially the filthiness.

Went here for a couple months then one day in Dec ‘24 the whole gym had this very overwhelming smell of piss, since then I’ve been going to another location. Every now and then due to this being one of the few locations open 24hrs I’ve had to come here, and now it smells like stale piss. Feb ‘25 will be month three of it smelling that way. You never get used to it the whole time you’re working out. Do not recommend unless you like throwing up in your mouth and/or smelling piss.

Desk personnel are very nice. Place is nice and clean with plenty of equipment. Men's locker room some what small. That is an issue due to several lockers seem to have permanent occupants.

I have to come here cause it’s the closest location to the airport where I work. There is always a different person working the front desk, some more present or polite than others. Lots of times I don’t feel like I get the customer service that I expect when I come here. Also the floor in the showers is always dirty. I saw a girl cleaning the other day dragging her feet. Even thought they have supplies they don’t do a job at cleaning.
