I’ve been a member of various gyms, but my experience at this 24 Hour Fitness location has been by far the most disappointing. Hygiene and organization are severely lacking, and it’s impacting the workout environment, health, and safety of members. Here’s what I’ve encountered repeatedly: 1. Disorganized Weight Area Dumbbells are scattered all over the weight section, making it difficult to find the weights I need and creating tripping hazards. There doesn’t seem to be any effort from staff to organize this area or encourage members to re-rack, and it makes the gym feel chaotic and unsafe. 2. Unhygienic Bathrooms The bathrooms are consistently in a poor state, with trash littering the floors, used bandages, and dirty tissues scattered around. This lack of attention to cleanliness in such a high-traffic area is not only unpleasant but also a risk to members’ health and safety. 3. Barely Refilled Paper Towels and Wipes Paper towels and wipes are constantly running out, making it nearly impossible to clean equipment before or after use. It’s frustrating to see something as simple as refilling these essentials being overlooked, especially when hygiene should be a top priority. 4. Consider a Dedicated Team for Cleanliness and Organization It’s evident that this location could benefit from hiring a dedicated team to handle tasks like re-racking weights, refilling wipes, and keeping the bathrooms clean. I’ve noticed that Blink in the Bronx has implemented a team specifically for this, and it’s made a huge difference. It’s disappointing to see a larger gym like 24 Hour Fitness not taking similar measures. In summary, I’m highly dissatisfied with the lack of organization and cleanliness at this 24 Hour Fitness. Members deserve a safe, clean, and organized environment to work out, and this location falls far short. I hope management can take these concerns seriously and implement dedicated solutions to improve the member experience.

I went to check it out on a day pass since I just moved into town and need a gym. The front desk guys were really nice. But the hang up here for me is that when they went to give me a tour I was immediately hit with garbage strewn across the floor and overflowing trash cans. If I was a salesperson at a gym I would be so embarrassed to give someone a tour with my gym looking like that. None of the squat racks had clips for the barbells luckily I brought my own. And the gym is way too bright. I’ll be honest I did not look at the reviews prior to checking it out, though I wish I had. I’m a personal trainer and my mother has a housekeeping business so I have very high standards for cleanliness but I feel like having a cleaning crew on staff is the bare minimum.

The needs of members whose main exercise interest involves swimming are notoriously a low priority in many facilities despite the fact that it is the only sport many older people can engage for orthopedic issues. When I found out that a facility in Pelham Manor offered this amenity and offered not one but two pools I was very excited, excitement that turned into disappointment. A red flag should have been the poor hygiene observed in the locker rooms attached to the pool. The situation there is so bad that I doubt it would survive a thorough inspection by the health department. The health department, however, is the one that local management is blaming for keeping only one of the two pools open at all times. The reason given is that the health department requires not one but two lifeguards on duty for the two pools with two lanes each that are effectively adjacent to one another. Assuming that this is true, one wonders as to why a large corporate gym cannot afford two lifeguards! But again, if it cannot afford a good cleaning service this is possible. The result is that the only two lane functional pool is perennially crowded with waiting times and rude lifeguards that have been instructed to forcibly remove out of the pool members whose swimming routine exceeds 45 minutes. The only functional pool is purposely kept at a distinctly chill temperature to prevent people from getting too comfortable. Needless to say that after one month of perseverance in trying to make it work, I finally gave up and discovered the only good thing about this facility: they promptly and cheerfully refunded my platinum membership.

I was looking to join a gym as part of my life extension program and a friend recommended 24 Hour Fitness. My health insurance included Silver Sneakers so I was able to join at no cost. The staff are all very professional, and people friendly. The facility is very extensive and features every fitness machine imaginable to tone, strengthen and stretch. On my first day I attended a one-hour Silver Sneakers and it was brutal. I think was the only male in the room and I barely kept pace with the class. I went into the session with a sore lower back but after a hot Epsom salt bath that afternoon I was ready to take on the water aerobics class the next day, it too was challenging. I love the facility and the fact Dave and Busters is just a few feet away so you can take in some hot wings or ribs to help recover from your workout. In addition to the plethora of fitness equipment, the gym features two lap pools, a jacuzzi, showers, sauna and steam room to sweat out toxins. All and all, I love the facility and look forward to achieving my fitness goals. If you are a Silver Sneakers member, I highly recommend this gym. It is well maintained and the staff is eager to help. Shout out to Eve at the reception desk.

I joined 24 Hour Fitness for a month, specifically because it was one of the only gyms in the area to offer a pool at that price. The main floor of the gym had all the equipment necessary, but it was in dismal shape. The upholstery on many machines was damaged or torn, and the barbells and plates were EVERYWHERE instead of being reracked; probably because there was never any staff on the floor. The main locker rooms were unclean as well, with toilet paper missing in the stalls and dirt on the floors. The pool area downstairs is where I had most of my issues though. It is located down a steep flight of steps and the elevator has been out of service for at least a month. The locker rooms downstairs have been completely neglected and many of the lockers are just broken. The floors are soaking wet, and there is dirt everywhere. There are two, two-lane pools, but for some reason, one of them was closed for the entire month with no explanation, leaving a tiny pool to serve the entire gym. The lifeguards spent their time texting and socializing instead of watching the water, a major safety risk and fireable offense at any other pool. I can not recommend 24 Hour Fitness and do not plan on returning here.
