Overall: 4.5 stars — I found my experience at YTX to be beneficial considering their location and hours of operation. While the high-traffic hallways full of yoga students can sometimes crowd the small space and might not be for everyone, those seeking a unique and invigorating approach for a quick red light therapy session or cold plunge may find it worthwhile. Just be sure to book ahead using their app so the sauna is hot and ready when you arrive.

I was excited to join YTX when they were on Colorado street - but they relocated to a smaller space and it just isn’t working. It just seems that every class I attend is tightly packed in and people are having to get booted or do a lot of shuffling to fit. I’m not sure what the fix is but this new environment is claustrophobic & harder to park at, making it difficult to justify the cost. Trying to stay positive but if it continues I may have to shop around elsewhere. I also feel some instructors are much better at their job than others (actually taking the time to instruct during the workouts rather than giving out a list of exercises and waiting for us to finish)

YTX is the greatest yoga studio in Austin by far! I moved to Leander recently, but I still make the commute because it’s just that worth it! The location is right in the heart of downtown Austin. The studio is always so clean, relaxing, and aesthetic. The instructors are very professional, skilled, and gifted in their practices. The community has such great energy. I love the variety of classes that they offer, fitting for each level and mood for your practice. Be prepared to sweat out all of the toxins! The juice bar inside is so convenient for after class to rehydrate and nourish. The overall experience is why I keep coming back! Thank you for creating such a lovely space for fellow Austin yogis to practice what they love!

The new studio is really rough, and it’s sad that you are losing some of the best teachers. I still am trying to go here and give it benefit of doubt but it’s continuously frustrating and the new studios really sucks and classes are super crowded and the room isn’t hot. The hallways are extremely crowded and it just seems like nothing ever works. The way you reopened and operated as a business was a big let down. Probably going to have to switch studios soon but not really sure where is better.

Fantastic studio - I enjoyed the unique Yogic Weight Training class (it was an evening THAW class), which was a great workout! Very friendly staff, too! I look forward to taking more classes here when I visit Austin again!

The HIIT classes with Ashlee on Tuesday and Thursday are the best!!!! I really love to swim laps in the indoor pool they have and also take advantage of the steam room! Overall, I’ve had nothing but good experience here at the YMCA. 😊

Wow! Check out this YMCA NOW! The best equipment and deal in gym-rich (and pricey) Austin. They completed a huge upgrade from top to bottom: State of the art equipment and flooring. Love the staff. Check out the photos. I’ll update as it goes.

Seems like a good deal if you're young enough for the young deal, and overpriced otherwise, but it's close to me. Staff has been nice. The breakdown of equipment is non-optimal. The ratio of stairclimbers to rowing machines to treadmills is off. Missing some kinda obvious pieces of equipment for a gym this size like a bicep or tricep machine. On the plus side, they have a steam room that gets decently hot, a sauna (wasn't that hot the one time I tried it and thus went to steam room), a jacuzzi and pool, etc. It's nice if you live nearby or also a good deal if you can get the young people pricing.

However... One thing I have dreamed of, hoped & prayed I'm living. All the trauma im living with & Walking My Way: Day by Day....Through It; The Trauma.....to Be living 3 minutes from the LADYBIRD Lake Trail; is one of the most Truly Beautiful Experiences. I walk every single day, & the problem is I Am So Very Deeply Overwhelmed By The Anghts Of Hate & Racism....I am wqlking further each day but, the Arthritis In My Feet Is getting worse...from the extra walking. It's A Double Edged Sword. 🤺 Walk to heal, more undeserved intended tort & emotion distress....more walking. Help!! This recreational place, which contains gyms and swimming pools for all ages, is a clean and safe place for the family, hot and clean water, and a safe closed place for the safety of children. It has a jacuzzi, swimming pools and gymnasiums for slimming and building muscle. They have programs for all ages at competitive prices supported for families with limited income. I recommend it to all families and individuals who want cleanliness and reasonable price

I don’t review things often but after being a member here for two years, I wanted to say a huge thank you to my favorite gym. I have previously been a member at a lot of gyms around town having moved around Austin a good bit. By far Castle Hill is my favorite. Why? Simple reason- I feel like I fit in and I’m comfortable here. That’s really the best compliment I can pay them. From Derra who works in the spa to Clark’s personal training and Josh’s cycle strength class (which I think is on hiatus right now), every bit of my experience with this gym has been amazing. I struggle with feeling comfortable in a lot of gyms for a variety of reasons, but I have been able to make significant progress on my personal workout goals here. If you’re wondering whether this is the place for you, trust me - it is. Hope to see you there!

Been a member here for a little over 6 months and I only have good things to say. The gym is clean and well kept, it’s never full so you can always get a machine, and the staff are very nice. I went to LifeTime for many years and Castle Hill Fitness is way better if you need the gym essentials.

As a newbie to the fitness world, Castle Hill has been so great to help me work on my goals! I’ve never been very athletic, and pretty intimidated by gyms and working out in general. I mostly take classes, which works great for me because they offer a ton. My favorites are the Castle Barre and WERK with Sabrina. Many of the classes utilize Class Pass as well, so that’s an option as well. I don’t feel weird going in, I love all the different class and equipment options, and it’s nice to have a sauna in the locker room. Pop in for a tour, and they will usually let you come in for a trial workout!

Potentially the best gym in Austin… The life blood of what makes Castle Hill Fitness so special is the hard working and dedicated staff who show up every single day with a great attitude. I’ve been a member for over 7 years, and it’s been my favorite gym in Austin during this time. I have to say this though, upper management is letting the employees and members down. The trainers are constantly being blindsided by not having the equipment or marketing they depend on to develop a client base. Management also refuses to answer any emails or inquiries from long standing members. In fact, it’s extremely rare to see anyone from management actually enter the building at all! During my time there I can recall seeing them locked in an office a total of 3 times. I even knocked on the door and was waved off. I really hope they can turn it around. I’ll update in 5 weeks. Well, I guess this is what it takes to get a response. Never got an email, but thanks for responding on google maps.

I took Cecelia’s class for the first time this morning at 7:30 and absolutely loved it! It was the perfect flow for a Saturday wake up class. some standing poses, some twists, and a great core section in the middle. I can’t wait to take her classes from here on out, I’ll be joining the studio now because of her!

I left my necklace and the staff graciously held it for me to pick it up. When I came to pick it up, the employee couldn't access the locked drawer where my necklace was supposed to be stored. They also were unwillingly to ask for assistance, while class was in session. As an out of town attendee, with a flight to catch, I asked them to make an exception. As being delayed 30 minutes would cause me to miss my flight.

Overall great experience with the classes and teachers. **What I really didn’t like: the fees they charge to pause to cancel membership really turned me off and might not rejoin because of. I believe everyone’s workout experience is different. If I need to take a break, or if it’s just not working for me, I don’t think I need to be killed in fees to pause or cancel. It felt very corporate planet fitness gym vibes instead of considerate yoga studio energy. I am moving locally and needed to take a 6 month break and was fully expecting to re join. Other places like Barry’s and solid core do not do this.

Hands down the best yoga studio in the world. My wife and I love these classes, especially the 45 min yoga sculpt class. I find these classes to be a great workout for my body and mind. The thoughtful mindfulness that each of the very talented instructors inject into each class is really beautiful. This location has recently been renovated and parking can be a bit hard to find in the garage. I would recommend the street parking on 4th street, or close to Merit coffee. If all else fails, there’s always the Whole Foods up the street.

Probably the worst run gym I’ve ever been to. I am not exaggerating when I say these pics were all taken on the same day. I ended up walking around seeing how many out of order signs I could find like it was an Easter egg hunt. You can probably still go in there and the out of order signs will all still be there, no matter what date you are reading this. The WiFi is unusable. The sauna is broken half the time, the refuse to fix anything. Been here for a year and a half and I think it’s finally time to switch. I have asked them many times to fix stuff and this is where we are at now. I went to LA fitness down the road and it’s 10x better so now I will try to bring as many people from golds to LA with me before I cancel my membership out of spite. They either don’t have a manager or they are wildly overpaid because they are never there. Sauna is always broken and is never even very hot anymore, they never fix equipment when it breaks, hours could be better. One thing I will say though is that personal trainer Daniel is dope. They should give him a raise, because he is the only good thing about this place. Don’t go to this gym (unless you want a personal training session with Daniel).

I chose Gold's Gym because of the many locations, which is convenient for me as my job requires traveling all over town. While this isn’t my usual gym, I visited this location yesterday due to a nearby appointment. Unfortunately, I was disappointed by the condition of this gym. It’s clear the facility and equipment are in serious need of upgrades. Many machines, especially those for leg workouts, seemed outdated and poorly maintained—some hadn’t been serviced or oiled in a while, which affected my workout. Based on this experience, I wouldn't recommend this gym.

** I have not been paid or compensated for any reviews I post. All reviews are written with what I see and experience. ** Dear Austin community, This review is for Gold’s Gym Ben White location. My initial impressions when I walked up to the building were reminiscent of an old department store. The outside of the building looks like it hasn’t been washed in years. The signage is dull and unimpressive. Walking in, you are greeted by some of the friendliest employees that always have a smile on their face. They truly seem to love chatting with customers about their day. The inside of the gym, at first glance, is decent. It’s quite large for a gym and there seems to be plenty of equipment to use for whatever your goals. Walking around, you see 10+ machines (cardio, weight, etc..) that are broken and not usable. Many of these have been this way for 3+ months now. Many customers have tried contacting local management about this with no replies which makes this reviewer wonder if management even cares. It doesn’t seem so. Going around the gym to inspect each machine is full of disappointment. Rust, cracks, disrepair of many things in this gym. One should be glad gyms aren’t inspected by the health department or this location would shut down immediately. Cleaning supplies like paper towels and disinfectant are a gamble as to whether or not you will have them for the day. The locker rooms are not much better than the rest of the gym. The sauna is constantly broken, it looks as if it hasn’t been cleaned in over a year, and wooden boards are broken. You can feel the bacteria in the air. Which makes you wonder how often the showers and toilets are cleaned (rather seldom from the looks of things). The music being played over the loud speaker is extremely loud and obnoxious. If you can hear it over your own headphones, it’s time to turn it down or off. Customers like to listen to their own music and not be interrupted by whatever they decide to blare that day. Overall this business gets a D- when compared to the other Gold’s gyms in the area. But I hope things do get better here and wish management the best of luck in turning it around. Update 8/8/2024 - The men's sauna still has not been cleaned and machines are all still broken. Update 8/16/2024 - They have a bad habit of not opening up in the mornings and today was no exception. Machines are still broken. Place is still not cleaned or stocked. Attempts to reach out to management has been unsuccessful. Update 10/20/2024 - Since bringing these issues to management’s attention, nothing has been done. The sauna hasn’t been cleaned, most of the same machines are still not working and the music is still deafening. It’s a wonder this place hasn’t been shut down yet. They should count themselves lucky they don’t have to follow Texas health code.

I’m extremely disappointed with the treatment I’ve received at Gold’s Gym. As a paying member, I expected to feel valued, but instead, I feel overlooked and underappreciated. The staff seemed indifferent to my concerns, and it’s clear that customer satisfaction isn’t a priority here. For a brand with such a strong reputation, I anticipated better service and a more welcoming atmosphere. Unfortunately, this experience has left me questioning whether I’ll continue my membership. I hope Gold’s Gym takes steps to prioritize their members and create a more welcoming place

Friendly staff, solid equipment. Honestly would be a 5-star gym if they would just turn down the music like others have mentioned in the reviews… They blast music from the speakers so if you want to enjoy your own music or podcast like 95% of people at gold’s, it’s not ideal…

If I could give more than 5 stars, I would. I can easily say this was the coolest and probably best workout class I’ve ever taken. It is 20 minutes of spin, 20 minutes of strength/weights circuit, and 20 minutes of yoga. It truly covered all of the bases, and the fact that the workout was divided into three chunks helped the time really fly by. I thought I didn’t like spin classes, but turns out I just don’t like them when they’re an hour long. But these 20 minute workouts were perfect because I felt like I could give my all for each section without being worried about burning out by the end of the class. To start off, I walked in and was immediately greeted by staff. They were incredibly friendly and showed me around the place. They also have free lockers for you to put your things in. There is a designated bike for each person, which is shown on the TV above the lockers, and for new people there are green cones with your name on them to help you navigate throughout the three stations. First timers were also given a free bottle of water! The technology here, especially for the spin class, absolutely blew my mind. They have TV’s that show each person’s name as well as their goal in terms of RPM and resistance. It was a bit confusing for me in terms of the technicalities, but to keep it simple, you want the box next to your name to be green. That means you’re at the level you should be at and it motivates you to keep pushing. For the strength circuit, the room was stocked with so much equipment and weights, and the layout was so clean. I was impressed at how cool it looked. There were TV’s that showed the workouts as well as showed how much time was left for each one and how many sets were left. Yoga was great as well, and the yoga mats were in great condition. They had blocks as well. Bri was an amazing instructor, and she was incredibly encouraging! After the class ended, she sat down with all of the newcomers to talk about their experience and to also show them their stats from the spin class. Everything was personalized, which I really appreciated. Overall, I have nothing bad to say about my experience here. The bathrooms were large and very clean, and they even have private showers!! The facility was incredibly clean and in great shape, and I could tell the community here is tight. One of the attendees, Karen, was telling me how she has taken 600 classes here, and after her 500th class she got a free backpack! I love how they have so many ways of incentivizing their students to exercise and keep their body moving.

I love this gym! It is very clean--it's kind of a miracle how clean the locker rooms are (at least the women's) I never see paper towels on the floor or icky showers. The main floor is clean, well lit, approachable. The best thing though is the staff--I love the trainers they have and I love that the trainers teach classes. I have gotten to know so many of them as class instructors and it's so nice just to see them around the gym cheering you on. I really like the studio membership upgrade with the Gold's Burn and Gold's Fit classes. Burn is a 50/50 cardio and weights class and Fit is a CrossFit style class (without barbells). I love the burn class, the energy, the people, the trainers, the workouts. Honestly I'm surprised by how much I'm enjoying this gym. I've been going consistently for over a year now and I've never had that kind of streak with any other exercise plan before. It just feels like everyone is rooting for my success instead of the competition/showing off I've seen at other gyms.

Wow, I feel sick having walked in to this gym. I just returned to Golds after past memberships in Bee Cave and the YMCA. This is so close to my home but I can’t pay a business for services when it lacks a basic commitment to cleanliness. These photos were taken at 9:30 pm in the men’s locker room. ATTENTION SOUTH AUSTIN: Crunch fitness charges less and gives way more!! They are opening location in Kyle this October! Can’t wait! I pay more $$ at golds, for less amenities/perks, at this gym than any gym I’ve ever been a part of. I pay $40 for a month to month membership. Crunch charges $26, and they give you towels. At Golds, I once asked the front desk for a towel, and they told me that I have to pay extra for “towel service.” For $26 a month at crunch, I get unlimited guest passes to bring a friend. At Golds, I was told when I signed up that I could bring a guest once every 6 months. I brought a guest, and he was told the next time he came he has to pay $15. I asked if I bring him again in 6 months (since I’m supposed to get 1 guest pass every 6 months) if he would have to pay, and I was told yes. I can only bring a different guest once every 6 months. This gym is not nice enough to be that exclusive. They don’t even give you towels unless you pay extra lol. Also for $14 less/month, I get tanning and red light therapy at crunch. I cannot WAIT for the kyle location to open so I can leave this overpriced lame gym behind!

The “no bag” policy only seems to apply if you’re a woman. I watch men and staff walk around with LARGE bags 24/7. Contrary to Moses’ response, men and staff carry around giant bags around the gym daily, i clocked 4 just today. I got a “talking to” by a staff member several weeks ago but never see any of these men being confronted about it. Additionally, if you like to hip thrust this is not the gold’s for you. None of the boxes are low enough for optimal position, even for me and im 5’8 so it’s not possible to lift heavy. The benches are not in a convenient spot for getting them to the platforms either so im frequently forced to use the bench press fixed benches.

1) gym equipment: 10/10. Absolutely everything you need. No shortage of dumbbells, machines, nor anything else. 2) amenities: 100/10. I drive OUT OF MY WAY past other Gold's Gyms to come to here instead of the Ben White and West William Cannon locations. Why? Because OUT OF ALL THE GOLDS, THIS LOCATION HAS THE BEST DRY SAUNA IN THE CITY. It stays around 190 degrees, which according to Dr. Andrew Huberman, is the ideal temperature. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR HAVING A HOT SAUN--UNLIKE OTHER LOCATIONS. THIS IS ONE OF THE BEST PARTS OF MY DAY. 3) customer service: 10/10. Employees are helpful, friendly, and professional. A a young man named "Rey" and a young woman named “Shelby” particularly exuded all of these qualities and more. As a former manager in retail, I can speak from experience that they exhibit elite customer-service skills. Made me feel warm and welcomed and valued. Definitely the type of characters that are promotable and that you want representing your business. Overall, 1000% satisfied customer. Absolutely no complaints. 10/10 everything. 5 stars. Come to this gym. You’ll have everything you need and won’t regret it.

This place is the worst Golds in all of Austin. It’s dirty af. The machines are not kept up and a lot of them are half broken. All the equipment looks like it was sourced from muscle beach in the 80s. They keep this place hot and don’t turn the ac on. There is also a bad smell that I can’t put my finger on. And there aren’t enough wiping stations so half the people don’t wipe the equipment after they use them. There are two dead crickets just hanging out in the middle of the floor in a heavy walkway. This gym fails on every single level. It’s way more worth it to fight the crowds and drive the distance to the Golds on Slaughter and Congress

Only open during business hours. A few hours later maybe, but need a 24 hour gym. Loved the amenities listed, but doesn't do any good if they aren't open during the hours I need. Probably great for people that can break away from working in the office Edit after reply: I have contacted each of the golds in the austin and san marcos areas, southeast Austin location told me they are NOT 24 hour, and san marcos location, even though listed as so, is also not 24 hour. When I asked each of the people I talked to, both stated NO Golds in this area is open 24 hours. Regardless of what the hours on Google say. I do appreciate the reply back though Golds! I was just giving my honest opinion of why it doesn't work for me.

Overall an amazing gym! Only 5 min from me would really love to make it my home gym if they could add a belt squat machine or even a reverse hack like the other locations! Would be super helpful to avoid the drive down to the Kyle location, other than that it's the perfect gym!

Sexist gym. Over 3 months waiting for men’s showers to be remodeled, only a week for women’s as men’s showers access swiftly taken away and given to women when done. When sauna goes down male workers too busy assisting women to stop and reset sauna. Best location to work out but all attention os for female patrons.

This was a great gym until the showers started going under construction. I drive 30min into town and cannot shower at the gym because they’ve been under construction. So this is upsetting. As soon as the men's showers get finished, they switch us to the women's bathrooms which have showers that are under construction. This is unacceptable. The men have already had to go almost 2 months without showers, now we won't have access to the showers until next year, while the women remain unaffected by the shower construction. Thinking of pausing my membership for a few months until construction is complete because after driving 30min into town from Cedar Creek, I have no place to shower.

Recently opened gym, wide variety of equipments and 10 squat racks (amazing). Very large area so it doesn’t feel congested. They offer tanning, hydro massage and personal trainings as well.

Best gym in Austin. Been working out here for a month. It has at least 7 of every machine, 7 squat racks, a women’s only area, basketball courts, saunas, and so much more. The machines, layout, and cleanliness are exceptional. I dropped both PF and GG and joined FC after trying them out during various times for 3 days. Very happy with my decision.

Absolutely love this gym. It’s my type of crowd. It’s super spacious and super cool perk: It has a private women’s only workout section! The guy chaston, who gave me a tour around the gym give me a great in depth tour, and made sure I signed up for the membership lol. He was great as well as the rest of the team super nice people this is a great gym to workout in !!

Will gave us a tour tonight and was great! Went over all our goals and showed us the gym. I love the women’s only section makes it feel easy to workout for somebody who feels nervous to workout in a big gym. For the price it’s a great deal and feels clean.

Friendly and welcoming staff. William is always interacting with incoming members with a positive and uplifting attitude. Great variety of equipment, out of orders usually get fixed within a reasonable time. Good amenities, I would’ve given it 5 stars buuut I’d like for it to be 24/7 again. Also pay the employees more, they are the ones making the magic happen, not corporate.
