I loved visiting this location for the first time this past Saturday! The space on both floors is very well thought out with machines and stretching areas. If I were closer I would come every day! This will be my Saturday morning location for sure! 10/10

Great value for money. Staff are very friendly. The gym is well equipped and it has everything you need to work out properly.

The staff at this location is kinder and more attentive than any other gym I have had a membership to in my entire life. I'm not being hyperbolic, just honest. Also, they are constantly kind to our unhoused brethren and navigate a tricky situation of not pushing them out regularly. If you want a gym that is clean, has an almost 100% working machine ratio and that is KIND, this is your gym. I value that tremendously and think that corporate gyms largely lose this focus. Also, the pricing is insanely fair and the ROI for me is WILDLY on my side. Also, the guy/girl ratio is in favor of the ladies and it is a pretty incredible visual...

I just went to this PF for the first time and I can’t believe I waited so long. It’s incredibly large and well equipped for a city planet fitness. Definitely the largest gym in uptown. Clean, chill, I’ll be back!

Planet Fitness is a clean environment, staff is always friendly & helpful. I live in whiteplains, NY and they're friendly & the gym is clean. I also visit PF in Midtown Manhattan on 35th Street. I Work in Midtown so I do also work out at that PF. The same experience, friendly & helpful staff. I would recommend. Luis Worrell

The worst showers and toilets of them all. Iv’e had Blink membership for more than three years and most of the time I come to this location because it’s convenient for my commute. The toilets are always dirty and with the toilet paper on the floor or the actual toilet. The showers are always dirty and they don’t supply soap (if the soap holder is not broken). I talked to a manager about it a few months back and nothing changed.

I've been going here for roughly 5-6 years. The gym is good, the equipment is between good to brand new as they recently had new equipment. The gym is typically 70-80% full at most times I have ever been. The members are very friendly, the workers are great, and it is very clean. Unlike other comments not once have I ever seen homeless people within the gym's premises. A lot of the reviews comment in regards to it's capacity and having to wait for equipment. This is NYC and this gym is not the size of a warehouse. There are a lot of machines and free weights. I typically never wait more than 5-10 min for a machine in the rare cases that I wait as I dynamically change my workout and order depending on what is being used. Only issues are sometimes when a machine is knocked out of use it can take a while to fix it. And obviously 5 less treadmills replaced with a few other machines wouldn't hurt

The facility and equipment is good and well maintained despite near constant use. The hours are good and the staff is nice. HOWEVER in over 15 years of lifting I have NEVER experienced a gym with such awful members. No one has any gym etiquette. They will monopolize 3-5 pairs of weights at a time. They’ll take up benches or machines for 30+ minutes to do 3-4 sets. It’s unbelievable how inconsiderate and entitled the people who go to this gym are. If you can afford ANY other gym in the city I’d highly recommend.

Clicks between members allow them to dominate machines even when you’re waiting for 15-20 minutes for your turn. This location is honestly the worst for this behavior and staff can’t really intervene appropriately. I’ve been going to blink for 3+ years, but this is by far the most difficult location to workout for this reason.

I’m not coming here anymore ! They are not organized, there are only few machines . They don’t control the access of homeless people to lockers or any area but yet they denigrate good people just because they don’t like them as they Did with a GOOD guy I used to train with 🙏🏼. There is a tall, thin, very haughty girl. They will soon run out of customers because of that and more and will have to close. 👍🏽at the end planet fitness much better 😆

My wife works in the university and we wanted to go to the gym together, so she bought the membership for a year. Today I decided to try only one day’s membership and we went together there. But outside the gym they can’t allow me to pass inside, so I am too upset because we wanted to go there only together. My wife also doesn’t have motivation to go there without me. I tried to get the refund but it was unsuccessful, the support can’t help us. It’s not fair to not have information about it on their site. She bought the membership only because we wanted to go there together and it is possibility to buy membership for spouse but no information about the prohibition to go inside the gym for people like me. I lost money for the day membership and my wife for the whole year because she definitely won’t go there without me. Why don’t post information about it on the site? What should she do, go to another gym with me and pay for another annul membership again? I am really upset that support unable to refund my money that I lost today. I paid for the service that I didn’t get, it’s stealing my money!

Dodge Physical Fitness Center is one of the best place for recreation in Columbia University campus. Unfortunately it's overcrowded. It's a well equipped gym, Basketball, Volleyball, Badminton and Swimming pool. It's free for students and to access some of the services or gym trainer, it'll require basic registration fee. It's an underground fitness center that's spacious and clean. Dodge Fitness Center is only open to registered Columbia University, Barnard College and Teachers College students and faculty and staff.

Do better, columbia. How about we spend some money on the gym, which is ostensibly for improving students' health and well-being, instead of gentrifying harlem?! Not renovating dodge is one thing. The real show of stinginess by CU is the fact that students have to pay to lock their stuff into lockers. I am not able to bring my own lock; the majority of CU's lockers are inaccessible because we need to pay the towel + locker fee to even open them. The only low-cost/free option is the small number of 12 inch box lockers that barely fit a backpack, and for those, your option is to 1) pay per use to lock the locker, or 2) risk getting your stuff stolen. Can CU either allow students free access to the locks and lockers, or let us bring our own locks?

Considering all the money the school has, you'd think they could afford a better athletic center. I went here for a swim test and was terribly lost in the labyrinthine lower floors of the structure. Columbia deserves better.

I thought people were exaggerating when they said avoid Dodge at all costs. They weren’t, This is the absolute worst gym in my life. The equipment to people ratio is absolutely insane. If it’s not an elliptical or treadmill, there is like one of each workout machine which always has a line of people waiting to get on the machines. To give you an idea of just how little equipment there is, there are like five floor mats and weight benches for the entire gym. Mind you, this school has thousands of students. It makes no sense The layout is also horrendous. You have to squeeze past people doing their workouts because they reserved such a small space for workout equipment and it’s always packed. The fact that there are three different floors, albeit each with tiny workout sections, tells you how wild this layout it. Whoever designed the place should really think about how poor a job they did. I don’t understand where the money is going because it’s definitely not here. I have to wonder is physical and mental health important to the admin if this is how they treat their students? Do better.

BEWARE OF THIEVES IN THE LOCKER ROOM. DO NOT LEAVE YOUR SHOES OR SOCKS ON THE LOCKER FLOOR. YES I HAVE LOST THEM. Equinox E85 has been a fantastic gym experience for me. The variety of classes, especially under the stunning glass ceiling, is amazing. The cycling and yoga studios are decent, though the noise from weights being dropped upstairs during yoga can be a bit distracting. So I would prefer other quiter yoga studios. It would also be great if JuicePress made fresh smoothies on site. Despite these minor issues, I genuinely love working out here and appreciate the excellent facilities and classes offered. Equinox has truly enhanced my fitness.

The thing I like best about this gym is the yoga studio and how clean it is. The yoga studio feels private and very large. Some members get upset abt the weights dropping on the floor above us but it doesn’t bother me so much. There are a lot of stairs in this gym and the layout can be confusing but they have tons of cardio machines, weights and equipment and spacious mat area for stretching. I do get confused and get lost but it’s a beautiful space to be lost in.

I've truly enjoyed coming to this gym over the last 1.5 years. It's very clean, it has all of the right equipment including a straight pull up bar and more importantly space which allows me to work on handstands. I find staff and trainers to be very friendly, front desk always welcoming and smily, and management to be very understanding and responsive. I'm not sure where all the negative reviews came from, but speaking from my personal experience I have nothing but great things to say about this gym.

I'm really disappointed with the Equinox on E 85th St—it's by far the worst location I’ve been to. The women’s steam room never goes above 40 degrees, which is basically useless. I’ve asked management multiple times to fix it, but nothing ever gets done. It feels like no one is listening, yet I’m still paying for amenities I can’t even use. Some of the instructors do the exact same workouts every week. The whole point of taking classes is to try something different, but it feels unoriginal and lazy when they just repeat the same routines. For what they charge, you'd expect more variety and effort. And don’t get me started on the showers—they’re tiny and uncomfortable. For the price they charge, this place doesn’t live up to the hype. Definitely not worth the money. Equinox E 85th is the worst location I’ve been to.

I deeply regret ever signing a contract with Equinox. Their business practices are deceptive, and I’ve been trying to cancel my membership for over three weeks with no success. The customer service team is unhelpful and unresponsive, making the process extremely frustrating. I highly recommend avoiding this gym at all costs.

Reluctant being a member here - they can be rude and unhelpful. Sometimes they’ll clean the showers during peak hours so I have to wait 15-20 minutes to use it. Today they had 0 towels and didn’t send an email notice or mention as you walk in. I didn’t have time to go home and shower so I was forced to air dry and couldn’t use the steam room either. They also didn’t even apologize for the inconvenience. If you’re paying $100+ you expect common decency and to get basic needs met.

I got a free day pass to use the gym from an ad for Crunch Gym 81st street and decided to check it out the next day. When I arrived, a rude guy at the front desk without looking at me (he was just using his phone all the time) told me I should have scheduled a date to use the pass—something that was never mentioned when I received the email confirming my day pass I scheduled a time to use my free day pass with the manager at Crunch Gym. After arriving and waiting a few minutes for him to check my ID, I was told I still couldn’t work out. Instead, they spent the entire time trying to sell me a membership, insisting that I had to sign up if I wanted to use the facilities. I explained that we wanted to work out first, as I was doing a gym tour to decide which gym to join. He said that I have been there before couple months ago with a friend and he couldn’t allowed me to work out. Ok so what’s the purpose of a free day pass? This completely defeats the idea of trying the gym before committing and feels like a scam. Because while I’ve visited (more than 7 months ago) I’ve never used a free day pass—nor has my sister, who hasn’t been to the gym at all. Thankfully, one friendly front desk employee offered me a discount on a day pass and allowed my sister to use her free pass. I was genuinely interested in trying the gym before committing, but the experience left me feeling misled and frustrated. Be cautious of their advertising—it’s just a sales tactic.

I love group classes, I think it's time to update the mats for training. And the most important point, why is it so difficult to separate the area for yoga, it is impossible to concentrate because you can hear the music (loudly) from the gym. Put a glass door there, not glass, anything. It really prevents you from enjoying the training with good trainers.

Bright, clean, affordable yoga studio close to my home. The yoga teachers can be a hit or miss - as with any fitness class, there are others better or worse than the other. Not all of them will do adjustments, and others are very fast that it’s sometimes hard to keep up. I’m not a beginner but yoga practice shouldn’t feel rushed. I like going to the early evening ones, especially during the summer when it’s a little bit cool and they light candles all over the studio. It gives it such a relaxing vibe.

The temperature in this gym is unbearably hot, especially on the 2nd floor where all the cardio machines are. I spoke to front desk and Management doesn't do anything about it. Also, there are no gym wipes to wipe down equipment, just rolls of brown paper towels and "disinfecting spray" you're supposed to carry and bring back to every machine before and after use. Extremely inconvenient but very easy fixes that could make clients happy if addressed.

I have been going here for a few weeks now and have been enjoying my experience! I can't really speak about the weights since I just enjoy cardio, but I have NEVER had trouble finding a machine - no matter what time of day. There are more than enough cardio machines. Everything is clean and there are very few broken machines. There has always been enough paper towels/cleaning liquid. I wish they would install a proper water bottle filling machine, but still appreciate the water fountains that they currently have for filling up bottles. Overall, a great gym experience for a great price.

Have been coming to this location for 8+ years and today I was about to go to the treadmills and was not surprised that I saw someone with a dog on the treadmill, that’s the world we live in, where people only think about their wants and needs, my surprise was that when I went to ask the front desk staff about this dog being allowed inside the gym, someone else was already addressing this matter with the employee who did absolutely nothing but say that it’s New York City’s Law to allow what he called service dogs, I also have the right to workout in a not just judgement free zone but a pet free zone as well. Not everyone wants or can be around four legged animals, the two legged ones are inevitable. Very disappointing.

The owner truly doesn’t care for his clients. One of the elevator hasn’t been functioning for over a month and the door is locked which I think is a fire hazard because staff say the owner keeps the keys. With 1 elevator that is working they only allow 4 people in when the limit is 2,500 pounds, making us wait for over 10 mins to get in once the gym opens.. let me not mention the issues the gym has. An area has been having water issues for months, another area leaks whenever it rains! Owner truly doesn’t care! Go elsewhere. Do better! Giving it a few more weeks if not to planet fitness I go.. UPDATE 8/19/24: 1 elevator is still out of service . A handful of machines are out of services. Officially canceling my membership and going to PF.

- Always packed and weights will be scattered all over the place while the employees chitchat at the front desk. - The stairmasters (3 out of 5) have been broken for over a month and a half (if not longer) as of today. - They don’t have enough barbells for the number of squat racks and benches. How’s that even possible for a gym that stays this busy? - There’s been a leak or something going on with the men’s bathroom since last year and still to update or progress. Currently the issue has made one of the squat racks unusable as well as the ability to shower! Honestly, if there’s was any other gym in the area that wasn’t PF, I would ditch this place ASAP. I reached out to support for an update and of course the provided the most non-answer ever.

Worst gym I’ve ever had. Place is always packed making it take double the time to get the workout you want. Things break all the time and it takes forever to get it fixed. One of their elevators was out for months and if you go in the morning you have to wait to get in because there’s a line of people waiting to go upstairs. Machines are not fixed quickly either. Three of their stair machines have been out for weeks. Would have left months ago had I not been locked in a contract

Been going here for a year on and off when I’m in the area. Place is proof that you get what you pay for. This gym is always crowded. And lately more and more of their equipment is broken. The owner is either not bothering to reinvest in this place or he is not paying attention. There is a limited amount of cable machine attachments. Certainly not enough for every machine. I’ll jump on one of the cable machines as soon as it becomes available and then I’ll have to let it go because I’ll walk the entire room and can’t find it even one extra hand grip attachment. Also long wait times to get on machines because everybody’s busy on their phones or setting up tripods so they can record themselves. A Work out that should take me one hour end up taking me two hours.

If there were negative stars, I would use them. This company seems just as shady as any of the other conglomerates. They take advantage of the people who are barely getting by, while at the same time filing for bankruptcy. I lost my job last month and have been trying to have this bill cancelled (to avoid fees and debt) and they continue to tell me the same thing. It seems so unfair that they are unwilling to cancel my membership without penalty while simultaneously making the world known that THEY ARE FILING FOR BANKRUPTCY and selling their brand. This is one prime example of how the system screws the little man. I literally only used their premises twice in a 6 month period. Please find another place to exercise and get healthy!!! This company seems just like any other capitalist pig, who can care less about their customers. Never again.

I’m here almost everyday and am shocked how no one seems to pay any attention to the treadmills that aren’t working. It’s been weeks and more than 15 of them are not functioning, this has been the case for weeks. Not sure if it’s management or if management isn’t getting support from the corporate folks but something needs to be done, don’t be surprised if revenue goes down if this continues without a solution. Not to mention that some that do work are unstable and not leveled, causing the user to be unbalanced and potentially fall (an avoidable liability).

My biggest complaint and the complaint of many others who’ve iv encountered in this gym is the use of the smith machines for training at this location. There are individuals who take it upon themselves to train others using all of the smith machines for HOURS. It is inconvenient to others and inconsiderate of our time. In the past I have had to wait 1 hour for 1 singular smith machine which people were lined up for because the other 3 were being used by a rotation of individuals being trained. I let the front desk know and they told me they understood but couldn’t do anything… isn’t this against the PF policy? I don’t understand.

I have been visiting this recreation center for over 20 years, The basketball program they offer for kids and teenagers is good to keep them busy in sport activities. The facility does have an indoor and outdoor pool. The indoor pool can be accessed all year around with a membership. The outdoor pool is open during summer season but I would stay away in summer afternoon when the facility get crowded full of unruly teenagers. Instead go early in the morning if you want to enjoy the pool without any disturbance, they also offer free swimming classes during the summer.

The gym in question is a perfect example of inconsistency and frustration. This establishment can be likened to a ghost town with its perpetual closure, leaving patrons stranded without any semblance of reliability. If you're looking for a place to work out, consider this gym as nothing more than a mirage. They might as well hang a permanent "closed" sign on the door, for the frequency of its closure is unmatched. The gym's operational hours are a mere suggestion, as it seems the staff adheres to a schedule known only to them. Forget about planning your workout routine; it's a hit-or-miss situation here. Don't bother checking their website or social media for updates, as the information provided is as reliable as a broken compass. You might catch wind of sporadic announcements about maintenance, repairs, or even staff shortages, but explanations remain vague and unreliable, leaving patrons in a perpetual state of confusion. Membership fees? Oh, they're gladly accepted, with promises of access to state-of-the-art facilities. However, good luck trying to actually use them! Paying for a membership is akin to buying a ticket to a show that's never scheduled to start. The sheer lack of accountability and consideration for their customers is astounding. It's as if they've mastered the art of disappointing without apology. Save yourself the frustration and opt for a gym that values its members and actually bothers to open its doors when it claims to. This establishment is a textbook example of how not to run a gym.

I was a member of the Planet Fitness on 117th Street for a year. Unfortunately, there isn't a Planet Fitness close to my home now, so I had to join Blink Fitness on 116th Street. I'm writing this review to help others make an informed choice between gyms. Planet Fitness stands out for several reasons. First, they have an abundance of machines, so you never have to wait for your turn. There's always equipment available, which makes working out more convenient. The staff at Planet Fitness are exceptionally friendly, always greeting you with a warm smile. Additionally, the gym is consistently clean and well-maintained. I want to especially thank the staff at Planet Fitness for making my experience there so positive. Their friendliness and professionalism made every visit enjoyable In my experience, Planet Fitness is a much better option than Blink Fitness.

It’s cheap, yes. It’s also clean. And the staff really is nice and friendly. It’s also dangerously hot. (Hi, Planet Fitness, I am sure you’ll respond below that I can communicate my concerns to your friendly staff, as you’ve told dozens of other people commenting; maybe save yourself the time and address the problem instead). I’ve been coming here for nine months: anytime from 6am, to 10am, to 4pm, to 8pm. Invariably, the weight lifting section will be packed. In nine months of coming five times per week, I’ve been able to use one of the three Smith machines *at most* six times. Not to mention that one of them has been out of service for one week now. If you’re a weight lifter, this gym is simply not for you. (Weights only go up to 75lbs too, by the way, and you’ll be lucky if even those are not missing). The gym has 40 ellipticals and 42 treadmills. Not once have I seen even a third of them being used. Meanwhile, 70% of the patrons are packed into the corner where the weight lifting equipment is kept. I can’t wait for there to be more gym options in the neighborhood.

Great location but for a black card membership it’s not worth the price. Hydrobed has not been working for months, turns on then off and the wait for one of the two massage chairs takes forever. Please fix these issues because it’s not worth the black card membership without the amenities

I'd been going to this location for a while and really enjoyed myself. That was until one day they cut my lock off a locker. They have a rule that you can't leave your stuff in a locker overnight, which I understand. However, they are supposed to put your belongings in the front for you to retrieve them. When I asked the front desk staff about my gym bag I got a slew of different answers of what could of happened to my stuff. "Another member could have taken it", "If it's not up here then we don't have it", etc. The manager wasn't very cooperative at all. She said she could pull tapes to see who cut off the locks that night, but couldn't give me any information of what she found. Lol does that make sense?! One of staff actually said she DID see my bag at the front desk, but now it wasn't there. Conclusion being one of the other staff members stole my gym bag. Makes sense because it's a bunch of kids who there. They closed down the target because of the same theft. Not mad, just disappointed. The staff is really that downbad that they steal from members.
