Let me start saying that this gym is really clean. The owner is very nice. The staff members are very friendly and coaches are great I’ve been bringing my son to this gym for almost 4 years. I have no complaints at all. The coaches are very respectful. I would totally recommend this place for kids who wants to train for boxing. They have soccer for adults they could train to. This gym is not only for kids, but also for adults so that’s great

This gym falls significantly short of the standards set by other fitness centers, both in terms of value and overall experience. Not only are the membership fees prohibitively expensive, but they also bind you to a contract, limiting flexibility and adding to the frustration. Additionally, the time spent here feels wasted, as the facilities or services don’t live up to expectations, especially when compared to what is available elsewhere. Based on these factors, I would strongly advise against signing up here. It’s clear that almost any other gym would offer a better return on investment, not just in terms of financial cost but also in the quality of the workout experience and the level of customer satisfaction.

I am very disappointed at this place! I signed my son up for boxing and decided to take him out because it was not safe anymore. At one point they had young children hitting the punching bags right next to full grown men using sledgehammers to train. When my husband witnessed this we decided it was not safe anymore but agreed to continue paying because we did sign a 6 month contract. When I went to cancel my contract I was told I had to have done it a month in advance so now I was going to be charged $79.99 for an extra month (apart from the 6 months on the contract). I wasn't happy with this but agreed to pay it. Within the next couple of days I noticed I was charged an extra $19.99 fee from this gym. When I called to ask what this charge was all about I was told it was a regular yearly fee that everyone had to pay and even though I had already cancelled, my membership was still active when this charge went through! So I ended up paying a total of $100 for the month of January. If your thinking about signing your kids here or yourself I would suggest you think twice about it before making this big mistake. They DO NOT have an AC and it gets hot as hell in there during the summer!!!

I have BX and IN shape membership and heard about this place. I head about this place and wanted to check it out. I walked it and new I had to get a membership. I’m a body builder and it had everything I need there. Front desk super friendly. The best part is there is no time restriction on how long you can work out. I work out 3 hours a day and don’t like leaving the gym going outside for 15 mins and going back. Throws me off. You can put your gym bag and don’t have to keep it in a locker. Showers are available too. So you can go straight to work from there and catch the freeway. Plenty of space to do lunges. Overall excellent gym. Anyone that says anything negative about this gym are negative people for sure. I know what a good gym looks snd feels like. This is it. FYI I cancels both my other memberships because of the inconvenience.

A small, quaint gym. Lost among the downtown buildings. Its been years since i came here at 14. It's been here forever and yet still thrives. Marc is a great and caring man who loves health and the ability to share it with others. They have all you will need and doesn't have that regular gym vibe

5 stars hand down. Old School gym clanging and banging weights. The Owner Mark has been training me for 2 yrs. I went from 175 to 206lb. Huge muscle gains. Mark Has been working with my injuries (Motorcycle Accident) to get me back to 100%. I’m in the best shape of my life . His training style is unmatched by anybody in Town. I can confidently say that I’m being trained by a Pro Body Builder & he has his Card to Prove It. Thanks Mark 🙏

Great place to work out, family owned. The owners are super nice and will make you feel like family. Prices are reasonable as well they offer a wide range of activities. You will love it!

Great Muay Thai with a lineage of instructors. Same for the jiu jitsu. They also offer women's self defense classes. I would recommend this place

I absolutely love the classes. I feel challenged, the instructors engage and correct movements. I typically go to Stephanie and Karah's classes, It works best for my schedule, but I really enjoy both girls. The unique feeling of community and personal connectivity has also gave me a level of commitment which is very important to me.

Went on 12/23 for a Barre FIIT class taught by Stephanie while visiting family in town. The class was amazing, perfect level of burn and great instruction and flow. I will definitely be back!

I have been impressed with the professionalism and personal touch from one of the owners along with positive communication exchanges and quick responses. I have had only one session so far and the instructor (Luisa) is knowledgeable and caring which makes me feel confident that a long term relationship will be established going froward and that she will help me reach my fitness goals. Time, of course, will tell but as a business woman myself, I am happy to support this local business run by women. My first impressions have been very positive which and I am happy to share. :)

I am consistently challenged, i am never bored and I learn something new everytime I attend a class. Each instructor has shown me something new that keeps me excited to keep attending.

I absolutely love the barre and fitness/barre classes. They are high energy and fun! In a little over a year with healthy eating and this class I have lost over 10% of body fat. That’s incredible, especially for someone over 60!

I strongly advise against using MESH for your business address needs. My experience with them has been incredibly frustrating, primarily due to their recent decision to relocate all businesses to a new address without any prior notice. This lack of communication is not just inconvenient; it’s unprofessional and shows a complete disregard for their members' needs. The inconvenience caused by their actions is compounded by their apparent indifference to the financial and logistical burdens placed on their members. If you're looking for a stable and trustworthy partner for your business address, I strongly recommend exploring other options. MESH's lack of consideration for their clients is a red flag that should not be ignored. Save yourself the hassle and frustration—look elsewhere for your business needs.

MESH CoWork is just the greatest possible place to unleash creativity and get to business at the same time. Members are all very friendly and helpful. It is nice to be able to have a place for clients to meet with me instead of always having to go to their establishment. Working from home was depressing, but working from MESH CoWork is uplifting.

I am a Mesh Cowork Virtual client and it's been very helpful for my business to have a space to send my mail to and also have the great Mesh Cowork Team like Lydia and April. I always appreciate the alerts for mail and the professionalism they give. I really recommend them if you are looking for a place to host your office.

I worked out of Mesh Cowork for several months over the summer of 2020. The space was clean, well designed, and full of sunlight. The number of people in each room was limited to accommodate pandemic precautions and masks were required in common spaces (hallways, kitchen, etc). The office setup was great and while I did most of my work from my desk in a shared office I also made frequent use of conference rooms whenever I needed a quiet environment. I could lock and unlock the entrance to the space using an app. Tabari, Mesh Co-Owner, was professional, kind, and easy to work with. During my time at MESH I met entrepreneurs of varying stripes and was more productive than I could have been in my home office. I’ve since moved out of town but plan on purchasing day passes should I ever need to work while visiting family in Bakersfield.

I did the fire and ice package and felt AMAZING after it. The staff was so friendly and walked me through everything (and even gave me a pep talk before getting into the ice bath lol!) Definitely a must try for anyone in town.

I like that the In-Shape Coffee Road is a very clean and positive environment. From the gym, equipment, and locker rooms are kept up very well. Also, the staff at this location is very friendly and helpful. Lastly, I enjoy coming to this gym location because it’s right by my house and it meets my daily fitness lifestyle needs. Because I started my weight loss journey almost 10 months ago here at this very gym!

I really enjoy the space and lots of workout equipment choices The hot tub, hot sauna, and steam sauna as well as the lap swim areas are all bonuses. My nine year-old son really loves the Kidzone.

Staff is very friendly. I’m here visiting and I decided to train legs here today, the guest passes are EXTREMELY overpriced at $20 and this gym has hands down has the WORST leg machines I’ve ever used. All 3 legs extensions absolutely suck and so does every hamstring machine in the facility. Even the calf machines suck. They feel like the cheapest machines I’ve ever used, I had to adjust every single machine multiple times and never got them positioned correctly, the only thing worth using is the squat rack and that’s pretty hard to mess up. I do not recommend training legs here. Waste of time and money. You’ll be better off going to planet fitness. However the staff is great and I’ve had decent chest/back days.

Great gym with plenty of equipment. The parking lot is kind of crazy as it shares a lot with other businesses but otherwise there's enough to go around. I just wish they had one in Fresno so when we go up to visit our family I don't have to miss my workouts.

I was a family guest on vacation from Utah. I must say this was a great fitness center. My guest visit was uncomplicated and swift. The pools and hot tub clean. The staff non-intrusive. A wonderful visit and I understand an easy no frills membership which I think is very inexpensive.

Think I found out where all the coolest ppl in Bakersfield are hanging out! It’s def at Corey’s 9AM class. We did a HIIT cardio circuit that absolutely HUMBLED me. But everyone was so kind and encouraging and Corey helped a bunch correcting my form and showing me modifications when the second round proved to be too brutal lol. I feel like even just a month of this class would turn me into a beast. And I’d for sure do happy hour w everyone in that class. Great workout, great community. Thanks Corey!

I really like it, it's spacious with lots of equipment and a great room for massages if you pay 22.00 a month. What I really like is that they require you to wipe down the machines after each use which means no more sweaty dripping machines. They've also got signs posted throughout of this being a no grunt zone which is really nice. Nobody out there hollering and dropping weights all over the place. Just a nice place to have a good peaceful workout.

I absolutely love this gym and Devon is an amazing instructor, his workouts are always different and his attention to each individual person in class and their needs is beyond impressive!! I always look forward to 5 am class and enjoy the vibes Devon brings!!

Jeremy (Manager California) handled a situation that for the most part left me feeling less than human. I have been a member of PF for over 3 years and have lost over 150lbs. Panama lane machines for handicapped have been broken for over a year and I was told they are not under a warranty so likelihood of repair is nonexistant. The main issue was having to use an aluminum chair and a yoga mat to exercise on the equipment, after which when I asked the employee if I could leave the mat at the counter because my back and foot I was hurtine i was told, "That's not in my job description". I guess customer service isnt this employee's Priority. Furthermore the employee went back to checking his phone after, and I walked away feeling defeated. To think I actually wanted to work for this location because Ayla is a great manager and her staff talk highly about her. I already struggle to get in a work out, stay pain free, and consistent and this employeess judgement left me wanting to cancel my membership. If It was not for Jeremy here at California I would be an inshape member today. He expressed empathy and let me work out on their equipment even though I was not a home member here. Planet fitness needs to maintain its equipment or have someone who's job it is to ensure its not down For months or a (year). We pay monthly im sure the community expects working machines. I look forward to a response to this situation.

I went to the planet fitness on California Ave and the rude manager there told me and my guest to “you could leave, the door is there, leave” only because I told him that I got messed up with the names but the old as manger that should retire told us to leave and didn’t even let me speak and explain why I got messed up with the names. I never had a bad experience with pf but after that I’ll be canceling my membership very disappointed in pf. I was really disrespected by a MANAGER there do better in picking managers!

Horrible customer service specially with a guy named Mario in the front desk he is so incompetent doesn't know anything. I was trying to cancel my membership from a Planet fitness club in Carson ca. this guy said he couldn't help me that I specifically had to go cancel in person to the very same gym I started my membership at. I called the old gym and someone kindly helped me over the phone and helped me transfer clubs to this one here in Bakersfield on California. Even after I transfer club I still couldn't cancel my membership immediately. Planet fitness sucks so fast to take u as a member but make it difficult to cancel your membership..... I still have to be here back unfortunately to cancel my membership another day... hopefully with another competent well knowledgeable employee.

The addition of all-new Matrix treadmills, ellipticals and stair climbers is nice to see. One pet peeve of mine, and this isn't exclusive to Planet Fitness, is people who spend more time on their phones while sitting at a weight machine than they do exercising on it. Even with us standing nearby wanting to use the machine. Do your internet elsewhere, folks. Leave the gym for those of us that actually want to work out and then get on with our day.

Avoid In-Shape on White Lane if you value professionalism, transparency, and quality facilities. The staff here is unhelpful, unprofessional, and poorly trained. The manager refuses to return calls if you have a complaint, and there’s no customer service number to escalate issues. Overcharging is common, and even after canceling, you may still be charged. Refunds aren’t processed back to your card but are sent as a check in the mail, which is absurd in 2024. The gym itself is outdated and poorly maintained. The showers are old and uninviting, the sauna stays broken for weeks at a time, and repairs for other equipment take forever. Compared to other gyms, this location is sad and feels neglected. What’s worse, the staff and management dance around answers, and you’ll hear a different explanation every time you call. This lack of consistency and accountability is infuriating. I’ve also experienced a complete lack of integrity—when I lost money here, a staff member told another member to just keep it. Other reviews are absolutely correct: this place is disorganized, unprofessional, and not worth your time or money. Save yourself the headache and join a gym that values its members, maintains its facilities, and operates with honesty and professionalism.

I want to thank the team from in shape especially Elijah and bre, they where very helpful with signing up my brother to the gym, answering all his questions without hesitation, having patience and keep a smile even tho it was 4 am. The whole entire team are friendly, always smiling, friendly and helpful no matter what time in the morning it is keep hiring people like that.

The gym has everything we need. They're currently remodeling the pool/spa area, so excited to see what that will look like. There are days where I'd like all the dumbbells easy to find and not feeling like I'm on a treasure hunt lol Overall, we have a great experience at this gym.

Honest General Manager, Omar Retrieved, stored and returned cell phone dropped outside I did NOT utilize the gym but, unfortunately, dropped my cell phone outside walking by towards Starbucks across the parking lot. A member, of In Shape, noticed an item had been dropped and, alerted the GM who was walking inside the establishment. He held my cell phone under the front desk/counter. Later, I noticed that my cell phone was missing and retraced my steps. I stopped at about 5 businesses, in the shopping center, to leave my contact info. The last business was In Shape which, actually returned my cell phone. Thank you so much for your honesty!

Attended this gym for years the first time I ever took my child with me ; a situation where I was attacked and almost jumped ( with my child with me) and this gym banned me KNOWING I was attacked by a few girls while I had my child with me. The staff even seen the girl attacking me and walked me to my car. I was still banned. I do not recommend this gym at all!

I enjoy this gym. I really enjoy the staff. They have been wonderful. UPDATE: First let me state, we have a multi person membership, which we use mostly for the convenience of the showers. And most importantly the STAFF is WONDERFUL. With that said, Since my last encounter with manager of the location things went downhill. It was dirty and we could not use part of the facility due to always being broken or locked due to a incorrect repair to a door handle. Also most the soap dispensers were ripped out of the wall for almost 3+ weeks. The soap company gives those for free so you will continue the soap purchases. Manager changed I brought this to his attention and was told it would get corrected. Since then it has become worse the door is falling off it's hinge, wont close correctly or lock correctly. This is not good for a bathroom and shower room. The place has not got cleaner. the water doesn't stay hot or get hot on some occasions. especially in the front showers. There is trash in shower stall in the morning and the same trash at night. See Photos. Please note these photos are all taken at various times and of multiple stalls. you can also see the broken dispensers all at the same time 3 of 4 stalls.

I had a great experience at this gym for it being my first time at this location! The Inshape staff were very friendly and helpful. I didn’t even have to ask to show me around the gym. They were quick to take the time to show me around and made sure to tell me to have a great workout. Lastly, even when I was leaving they made sure to ask How was my workout. Which I responded, Great🙌🏼 I will for sure be back!

Update as of June 20th. Part 1 of 2: black mold appears to be infested in sauna room. Pictures added. Part 2 of 2 Staff finally put a sign up to stop the mens emergency locker room door from opening up where then people could see directly into the men’s locker room as they changed. May 30th 2024 - update. Be careful walking by the security door on the left after walking past the check in counter. This door is never kept locked and if someone opens the door up to wide then you will see dozens of naked men changing in the locker room. I now make sure that I’m not in the line of sight when changing because people who leave the locker room tend to swing the door wide open. I notified front staff, staff supervisor, and maintenance persons about the the poor state of the facility. Maintenance told me they wait for the rubber bars to fall off completely before repairing them because it’s too hard to do routinely. The central fitness area for core workouts never have matching weights where they belong and have heavier weights from the heavy lifting area instead of the lighter weights. Front staff told me they just let people misplace the weights and it’s not in their agenda to ensure the weights match where they belong. Sauna room is disgusting as well. It won’t ever get a high enough temperature because the door is not insulated.

Always something wrong with the steam room. Get it together! Mention this to management who seemed bothered that I was bothered by this or at the very least seemed not to care. Did not have an ETA on when it’d be fixed and told me no other manger would know either. Paying for a service that’s not available. Let’s not get started a the sauna. This place is really run down lately.

Good morning, I am following up in my previous review of Onshape fitness center at the California avenue location. First I gave a two star, instead of one atar because it seems like the gym is gradually making much needed repairs. Cleanliness when I am at the gym has gotten better. A few things the gym staff could work on that would go a long way and will cut down on the negative feedback is: 1. At 4 am make sure the facility is ready for members to train and recover. Its not acceptable to tell me the Jacuzzi is down because it failed a PH test at 4am; and further explain the jacuzzi was shut down the night before the same reason. A broken pump is a good reason to close a Jacuzzi not because the worker the night before failed to do his part to keep the jacuzzi working. It feels like a lack if consideration on the gyms part to keep things open. 2. Supervising the steamrooms To many people go into the steamroom with their dirty outside shoes. Its disgusting! Another thing the Gym allows ecential oils to be used in there steam rooms, not taking into account people with sensitive allergies! I would consider these things before joining a gym you use daily.

Ima start off with saying this gym is the best gym in Bakersfield, hands down. I’ve been a member here for a while and I have never had a bad experience here. The BX Staff Team and Management are top tier when it comes to member services and hospitality. It’s feels like home here, I wouldn’t want to go anywhere else. They also have very good and clean equipment and sanitary bathrooms. I’ve been to a fair amount of gyms in my lifetime and by far BX is the best in my personal opinion. Signings up with them is an excellent choice and an easy process. The staff here are very informative and knowledgeable about the gym and workouts of all types. I love this place and I Know you will too.
