It has been 1 year since LA Fitness took over Gold's Gym. It is has been a quick decline! Equipment is increasingly "expecting maintenance", the working equipment is deteriorating (torn padding, missing pins for machines, child care gone, 1 vending machine 1/2 empty, etc). The ONLY reason I work out here is convenience and I like the layout. Some staff are very pleasant, others look like they hate their job. Also, the gym is now 99% men.....ugh! UPDATE 12/9/24: I was a member at the previous Gold's gym for 20+ years and LOVED them......then LA Fitness took over the location and it has been a swift DECLINE! My photo below shows the biggest complaint...........lack of machine maintenance!! BUT, to show how cheap they are.......notice the TV's with ONE channel playing on the 3 active monitors, while the others are just dark..........they won't even pay for a cable channel! This past weekend I tried to bring my wife in as a Guest.........they said $20 bucks (my monthly dues are $40)! They would not take a guest coupon since wife had been there 8 months ago......and even though she is going to retire in March and WOULD have joined, the manager said "Sorry"! GREAT customer service guys. Like most, I go here because I like the layout and location.................but everything is in decline, including the members! Rude, stinky people who are so inconsiderate they think you like hearing them sing aloud next to you, sit on machines for 30 minutes looking at their phones, or my favorite.....the tools who occupy more than one machine at a time. Sorry to the Manager, but this is a mismanaged, rundown gym with employees who look like they hate their jobs.

Do not go this location because: The bad - there is alot of broken equipment (cardio machines and cable machines or pulleys) and when that happens they leave it broken for a long time. Like a month. There is zero urgency to fix it. - the bathroom smells gross. There has to be a sewage leak or something bc its cleaned regularly its not possible to smell as bad as it does and appear as clean as it appears. - like all gyms, its a pain to cancel.(Denis he’s the manager of the gym if there is some issue he cannot de-escalate situation, he is on the phone all the time only there during 9-5 so if you work regular hours its not possible) The good - the culture of this gym is good. People come here to lift and mind their business. Nobody is filming tiktoks or being obnoxious. Everyone is polite and doing their own thing. - front desk people are chill except the manager (Denis) - they have most of the equipment you could ever ask for

This was a great gym when it was Gold’s. Once it became LA fitness the quality went down drastically. As others mentioned, machines remain broken for months at a time. Basically you’re paying for free weights - which isn’t necessarily a problem but membership rates should reflect that.

Truly horrendous gym. Clearly don’t care about patrons. Broken Machines/equipment will go unfixed for months at a time. There is never equipment. The only “improvements” in the last two years were two god awful paint jobs. The manager sits in his office on his phone constantly. This gym should be viewed as a last resort.

I cringe every time I see the charge come in from this place. I go there because it’s close by, but honestly so are many others - note to self: consider shopping around for another gym. The machines are constantly out of service for literally MONTHS. They have around 6 stairmasters and last I checked (yesterday) only 2 of them are functioning, and it’s been like this for weeks. The outrageous number of treadmills, bikes, and ellipticals is hysterical. They take up so much space and only 1/4 of them gets used at one time (this is me being generous). It’s not 1970s anymore, people want to lift WEIGHTS! Yeah, speaking of weights they’re always scattered throughout the gym, there’s 1 machine for each exercise aside from leg press (2) and squat rack (3) and that’s not enough!!!
