I have been attending the SS classes on M, W, & F as well as the Stability/Balance class on Wed after SS for almost 2 years. I was a little disappointed when our previous instructor did not return in September, but I am now really enjoying our new instructor, Debbie, who came on as a sub for the summer and is now permanent. She gives us a head--to-toe, whole body workout. We use weights for strength training which is very important for bones at our age. She teaches us what part of the body the exercises will help and the correct way to do them. As this class is made up of mostly seniors (60+) who have varying abilities, we are able work at our own pace in a safe environment. Also, since falling is a big fear of mine, I feel the balance classes have been helpful.

Do not go to this racist camp I will be leaving out my own and my kids name for privacy reasons. And please excuse my poor grammar and use of language. Previously, the summer of 2021, I have enrolled my kids in this camp so he can socialize with other people and overall, have a good time. So imagine my anger, when both of my kids say they were getting mistreated from the other kids. We are of Asian American descent and since the COVID-19 pandemic, Asian/Chinese discrimination skyrocketed. Both of my kids had reported that other kids were picking on them and calling them derogatory and discriminating terms that I will not repeat. They have reported those incidents to the counselors which they failed to do anything. I have told the head counselor about the situation which she was unconcerned and negligent about. The next day, I have gotten a call about one of my kids getting into a fight. I arrived there and was met with my kid and the head counselor. The counselor explained to me that my kid can no longer go to the camp because of the fight and refused to give a refund. I asked my kid about it to evaluate the situation. It turned out that the other kid took the ball that he was holding and refused to give it back. My kid told the counselor who failed to do anything. When my kid tried to forcefully take it back, the counselor intervened. The other kid did not get into any sort of trouble except for my son. I went to the camp next day to unenroll my other kid. Overall, this was a bad experience for my kids. I do not recommend going to this camp

My daughter started going here when she was 9 months old. And today she is 7 and l must say this is the best thing what happened to us. She learned everything from Y whether it’s manners, life lessons or about education. She did Pre-k also here and when she went to kindergarten she knew all the things before. Now it’s her 3rd year going to the summer camp and l am so happy for it. She likes the camp so much she never wants to come back.

(PT.2) - There is way too many things wrong with the Raritan Valley YMCA in East Brunswick, New Jersey. One of the gym doors is broken and extremely easy to break in to , they still haven’t fixed it and it’s been years! There is a cockroach problem in the toddler room and the infant room that was not properly taken care of. They had a molding problem in the Pre-K room on the walls and the baby room closet walls, and the mold got painted over instead of being properly removed. The above ground pool is no longer with us , this is because it was rusting pretty bad and the director decided to paint over the rust. This caused the pool to collapse during a camp day while one of the younger groups was swimming. one of the counselors had to rush to get all of the kids out insuring they didn’t get hurt. There was a mice problem and instead of getting pest control, they got mouse traps and put a couple down. The staff was over worked, sometimes they didn’t take breaks and most of the time they were working over the amount of hours they were allowed to be working, and not getting paid overtime or at all for those hours. They did this mostly to minors ! The director, Gina Stravic, ordered a staff member to ask a Spanish speaking American that was at the Y , if they were LEGAL. Gina intended to pay them under the table for janitorial services if they were not. The man who drives the bus during the summer often hits curbs while driving kids to and from the Milltown pool and the Brookside pool. Most of the front desk workers rotate and change very often and they do not know who belongs in the Y and who doesn’t, and without any type of security system or cameras, this makes the Ymca an unsafe environment to have 100+ children inside of. I could go on forever about the hazards this place has , and these poor kids that go here should be withdrawn until the director and management fixes the unsanitary and unsafe environment that the Raritan Valley YMCA is.
