My family and I recently signed up for a free pass online to try out Gold’s Gym with the intention of potentially becoming members. We were excited to test out the equipment and classes at this location. However, our experience was unfortunately marred by the behavior of the person at the front desk. Upon arrival, we were greeted with an unwelcome attitude. The staff member informed us that our free pass was only valid for the night we booked it. We signed up for the free pass around 11pm because we intend to go the next day. It was not indicated anywhere in the email confirmation or on the website that the pass is only valid for a certain day or it’s only valid the night we signed up for the free pass. We had planned to use the pass the following day, and if we had been aware of this restriction, we would not have made the trip. However, this was not the main issue at all. If there were restrictions regarding the pass in this location, we would have been okay with it. He could've explained it to us properly. The interaction with this individual was disappointing and unprofessional. He was condescending and showed little interest in assisting us. We felt as though he was dismissive and unhelpful, which was surprising given that customer service should be a priority in such roles. People in customer service positions should strive to assist and provide clear information to potential clients. Unfortunately, this experience left us with a negative impression of Gold’s Gym. We hope that management will address these concerns to improve their service in the future.

Friendly and helpful staff. Not as much of a variety of equipment as some of their larger locations. Sauna and showers are a little old. Good experience overall though.

If you're thinking about joining Gold’s Gym, think again. The air conditioning has been broken for months, and the gym's "solution" was to bring in a few fans that don't even work properly. The environment is beyond uncomfortable, making it almost impossible to get through a workout without feeling overheated and frustrated. It's clear that the comfort and safety of their members are not a priority here. With the high membership fees, you'd expect basic amenities like AC to be maintained. But here we are—months later—with nothing but broken fans and empty promises. I’m thrilled to wait for their likely automated response, which will surely do nothing to fix the situation. Save your time, money, and energy—find a gym that actually cares about its members.

A/C has been broken for months. There seems to be no sense of urgency on behalf of management to get the A/C fixed. I didn’t want to be too critical of the gym because everything else is pretty much good but if management is willing to go months on end without A/C it makes you wonder what else is management being neglectful about that members don’t see. It’s so humid and muggy in the gym and it isn’t safe to have an intense workout in there.

I grew up in this area, but have not been local for a long time now. I was in town recently and wanted to check out a place to exercise so I decided on checking out this Gold's. I used a guest pass found online that gives you three days free to try the gym. When I came in the front desk staff seemed a bit confused with my pass. They got the assistant manager to help me and he was a real nice guy named Greg. He was helpful and asked me what I was looking to accomplish and looking for in a gym. His customer service was real good. The location itself is located in Rockville Town Square so parking can be an issue and I imagine this location can get crowded. The days I went were right after Christmas so it was never too busy. The mens locker room is pretty small, but does boast a sauna. When I got out onto the floor what really stood out was how old some of the equipment seemed and how run down the walls were. I am not sure if they charge an annual facility fee like so many gyms like to do now a days, but it doesn't seem like they are putting that money back into keeping things fresh and presentable. The gym has what you would expect from a Gold's Gym like a squat rack, benches, dumbbells, and cardio equipment, but some items are fairly worn. I didn't see any broken machines though. It is not the cleanest gym I have gone to either, but the bathrooms were clean enough and they did seem well stocked when I washed my hands. The price I was quoted for membership dues was $39 a month. This seemed pretty high for this gym in particular, but it did give me access to other locations which I am sure are larger. Additionally, if you look at other reviews they mention experiencing charges on their credit cards after they cancel and I had the same experience over seven years ago when I went to Gold's Gym. At this point I would expect them to get paperwork wrong and have to check my credit card statement continuously, so that also makes $39 a month seem a bit high. I am not sure what gyms in this area are good, but I am not sold on this Gold's location.
