Hands down the best gym in the city. It’s more than a gym, with so many amenities such as basketball gym, golf simulators, pool, sauna, barbershop, cafe, rooftop lounges and more. The staff (especially Thea who gave us tours and helped with the sign up) is incredible. Fresh towels, clean, attentive and always saying good morning. Not sure where the negative reviews come from, never an issue with scheduling or getting on machines, always a healthy balance of people here but never overly crowded. Plus who would want a gym that no one’s at anyway?

I’m a new member but so far am really enjoying the facilities and classes. I haven’t found it difficult to get into yoga or Pilates classes (Admittedly, I’m taking them during the day.) The locker room, hot tub, and sauna are well-appointed.

I had a decent experience at The Sporting Club overall, but I recently cancelled my membership because it didn’t quite live up to expectations. One of the main issues that led to me leaving was the fact that the club’s membership has increased dramatically over the last six months. I understand that their incentive is to have as many members as possible, but this results in the club being very crowded during peak times. I was super excited about the fitness classes when I first joined, but the rapid membership growth resulted in it becoming very difficult to reserve a spot in any class that isn’t held during the workday. To get a spot, you essentially need to set an alarm for when a class opens each week, but even this doesn’t always work because of how much competition there is. The increase in membership also made it a lot harder to find a place to do some remote work during the day, since there are only ~15 comfortable seats near a power source. It was also (understandably) too loud to take calls, so I can’t really recommend it as a place to work remotely. I definitely lost some respect for the club when they refused to honor their membership policies. When I asked which section of the membership agreement states that a freeze can’t precede a cancellation, they were unable to answer and seemed very unhappy that I wanted to cancel my membership at all. Also, they charge a $25 fee just to freeze your membership, which is such an obvious cash grab. Considering how high the monthly fee is (not to mention the sign-up fee!), it didn’t feel great to have them try to wring as much money as possible out of me before I left. It’s worth mentioning that the facilities are very high quality. There’s a ton of space, the locker rooms and showers are super well-kept, and there’s a great rooftop area. I think it would be a good fit for someone with a very flexible schedule so you can avoid peak times, or if you really want a pool since that’s difficult to find at other gyms.

This is the BEST gym in Philadelphia!!!! They have everything you need for a successful workout. Basketball court, indoor track, hot tube, cold plunge, sauna, steam room, fitness classes 💪🏾, spin, trx, business area, game room, snack bar. The absolute BEST!!

Over the past four or five months, the club has seen a dramatic increase in members. Classes are more difficult to book (good luck getting into Pilates!) The pool and running lanes are perpetually full. The locker room is overcrowded and consistently out of towels. The remote work areas are always occupied. I loved the club when I joined a year ago, but the current reality does not justify the sky-high sign-up fee and monthly membership rate. I only give two stars instead of one because the reception and locker room staff are all incredible even through they are stretched thin. If you want to join, I encourage you tour during peak hours (4:00pm-7:00pm) to see what you're in for!

Philadelphia, known to a small but influential group of locals as "Philly," seems to be some sort of a workout desert. There is no equinox and only one CorePower in the city?!?! Damn I'm starting to sound boujee lmao my fault... I made the trek from Black Turtle Coffee to Corepower to make the 1pm sculpt class. Much to my surprise, the class wasn't full and had ample space to actually do yoga. I think I have PTSD from every studio in nyc where even getting a spot in a sculpt class is an absolute BLOODBATH. Really grinds my gears but I don't really have a solution for that so Imma stop complaining. Mina (sorry if I spelled your name wrong Mina) was a FANTASTIC teacher, the perfect amount of leading a good workout but not making it so hard where no one can do the mf class smh. She also did a good amount of the class along with us, which is one of my critiques of yoga teachers in general. A good general leads from the front like Mina does. Mina isn't playing scared. Few things have my endorphins pumpin, dopamine rushin, like a good yoga sculpt class. The perfect mix for me of getting an actual workout and stretching out. I feel as free as a female gymnast in my body while simultaneously feeling lean like a Fight Club Brad Pitt after a good sculpt class. As for Philly, known to a smaller but likely more influential group of locals as "The Big P," I'm sorry I called you a workout desert but will some of y'all please give me some recs for other classes to do. I hang my hat on taking constructive criticism in stride when given opposing evidence. Why am I in the Big P so much lately? Good question, my dear reader. That will be covered in a later review. But I WILL be back to take Mina's class again. THANK YOU COREPOWER! THANK YOU MINA! IG @jnov_ Tiktok @jnov__

Mostly exceptional! Great workout. Challenging and effective. Friendly staff and instructors … With some constructive feedback/room for improvement. (Hence the minus 1 star). The positives: large studio space with multiple rooms for >1 class at a time. Prompt check in at front desk. Vast retail selection of yoga apparel, athleisure, mats etc. Locker room for showering, changing etc. Locks available. Vast schedule with early morning to later evening classes of variable class types — from more traditional yoga to yoga sculpt (which is more of yoga HIIT including abs, cardio, squats, and optional weights.) Yoga sculpt is my favorite class type and complements my cycling, Pilates, and orange theory workouts well. Mostly good instructors. Motivating. Encouraging. Good cueing and coaching with a tie in between body, mind, and spirit. Emma is great. Carla is great. Brian is great. Very challenging but modifiable classes with many progressions and regressions offered to students to tailor their practice to their specific skill level/needs. Clean space. Temperature well maintained (hot in the hot yoga studios but nice and cool in lobby and locker rooms). My constructive comments: music is usually VERY loud. Blaring. I like the music because it’s motivating and fun but it’s usually so loud that you often cannot hear instructor cues especially if they’re on the opposite side of the room. During final stretch/final rest, I want to relax and close my eyes but still, the music is at a very high volume. I have seen students in class who have commented on this pre/during/post class but feedback doesn’t seem to be acted on as it pertains to this. Some instructors (not all) cannot count. I have been a fitness instructor for 13 years so I have a lot of experience counting on the beat. Many count down from 8 but with pauses in between which is actually a 16 count — or count down from 4 but with pauses which is actually a total of 8. This may seem trivial and I know I am more sensitive to it due to my background but it’s important if you’re holding a plank or pose and want to pace yourself through an exercise. It’s something that maybe should be reviewed. All of the instructors here have good musical taste although I think it would be nice if playlist is changed more frequently. I teach cycling and make a unique playlist for every single class so maybe my standards are too high. My only suggestion regarding scheduling is that if there is a last minute sub, I would love to receive an email with an opportunity to cancel or reschedule the class. Recently I arrived to class to find that there was a sub and it is an instructor I’ve had before that I do not enjoy because she acts bored (if not bothered) to be teaching. Had I known it was her, I would have opted to cancel/reschedule the class. Finally, there is little to no reinforcement of the no cell phone policy in class. This is a reflection of how addicted and selfish some people are, but I wish the instructors reinforced this rule. Many yogis are texting, obsessively checking their phones during class and it is distracting, inconsiderate, and rude to both the instructor and other participants. TLDR: A very sweaty workout. Fun. Engaging. HARD. I consider myself fairly fit and I’m challenged by CorePower yoga sculpt every single week. Some room to improve, always. Thanks for keeping me strong!

I took my first yoga sculpt class today with my instructor, Jillian and she humbled me for 60 minutes. Jillian was incredibly kind upon my first check-in, making sure I knew where to go and what to expect, as well as directing me on where the class would begin and kindly suggesting what weights I should have. I thought she would be the type of instructor who just stood there and gave us directions but to my surprise, she was also working out with our class and encouraging us, as well as making sure to correct my form if I made a mistake which I do appreciate. The class was heated and hot, not uncomfortably hot, but warm to where you know if you put in a good workout, you will be dripping sweat. Jillian does make sure to remind you to hydrate and if you need to take a break it’s OK to take one as well, but pushes you to do your best. The studio is huge and clean, as well as having bathrooms and towels readily available. I do see myself getting a membership here! I can’t wait to go back to my next class.

I decided to take a yoga class to try something new. The class was ok , but when I finished I was so sweaty I really neded a drink of water. They advertised they had free water bottles in the back. But when I went back to get one, a woman working there started screaming at me to leave. I left the place angry and dehydrated.

Took a trial class at corepower yoga. I was surprised it was “hot” yoga but room was more warm and less hot - which is good because I hate super hot (over 100 degrees). Class I took was a mix of strength and stretch infused with upbeat coaching. Studio is clean- has full shower and lockers. I’m ready to go back!

I’ve dabbled in yoga before but I am definitely beginner level. I decided to take a class today at Thrive Yoga, and the instructor was an absolute gem. She was super friendly, offered modifications for those of us who were beginners and even asked if we were okay with her making adjustments. Gotta love someone who respects both your personal space and your level of flexibility - or lack of flexibility LOL Now, onto why I’m knocking off two stars. Enter: the front desk woman. I walked in curious about membership options, thinking yoga might be my ticket to finally managing life’s stress - a high hope but nonetheless can’t knock it till you try it. But nope! This woman looked at me like I’d just asked her if the sky was green when I inquired about how to rent a mat. The vibe? Less “welcome to your yoga journey” and more “ugh, another clueless beginner.” The class was great, but judgmental and condescending front desk left me with a really bad taste. If you’re a beginner looking for a warm, fuzzy welcome—maybe bring your own mat and try another studio! I am still hopeful that yoga will be my cure to my stress (again high hopes) so I will be trying other local studios.

TRX + Pilates Springboard class with Maggie was very good; Maggie is the sweetest instructor and corrects and encourages you; the music was not too loud and there was no yelling in a microphone, which I absolutely love; the space is beautiful, light and spacious. Highly recommend.

I began training here at the end of summer and was initially very pleased with the facility, which prompted me to pay for an entire year in advance. However, I have noticed that some ongoing issues remain unaddressed over time. Specifically, a leak near the squat/barbell rack has persisted for over six months. Today, I was trying to squat and the floors were all wet; if I or someone else gets injured by the negligence of the non-existent gym manager, I will sue. The other day, one of the Female trainers had an open class with two women. She had the audacity to play music so loud that even with both of my AirPods, I could not only enjoy my music but not only that, I could not longer work out close to the speakers as the music was so loud that I thought I could need a hearing aid. I left the gym at the moment. The next day, the same female instructor had another class, and she left all the equipment in the middle of the gym. Putting weights back is encouraged for us members but not for employees. The disrespect I get from these people is unbelievable sometimes The front desk is operated by a couple of teenagers who don’t manage the building. They always seem to hang out as if this was a social event instead of working. I will attach pictures to this review showing equipment that has been broken for months now. The gym also gets very dirty. Not enough people are working to make this place decent. It would be a good idea to stop with the constant promotional offers when the place is clearly getting way too big management/employees to handle. Even on Sunday you will find yourself waiting for equipment. This will be a fire code violation waiting to happen Will not be renewing my membership, I highly discourage anyone from paying up front in an attempt to save money. These people will not care to address anything once they are paid

This place just continues to get worse and worse so I’ve decided to leave for good. 1. The soap dispensers in the men’s bathroom have been broken for months. So assume all men’s are not washing their hands. There’s not even a temporary bottle in there. This has to be some health code violation. 2. None of the paper towel dispensers worked so instead of fixing them they just removed half of them. 3. About a 1/4 of the machines are broken or feel like they are so you can’t even use them. Broken machines will sit for 3-6 months it seems. 4. The staff just hangs out. No one is really there to help with anything that’s broken and they are almost never at the front desk. I assume their only responsibility is to sign people up.

Was a promising location with good potential a couple month back but sadly they grew too fast and only care about $$. Multiple leg machines have been broken for weeks. Absurdly crowded at practically all times, staff just hangs out and cracks jokes up front

One star for the personal training experience. The trainer manager will talk a good game about how great the trainers are. Professional, flexible hours etc. The trainer I got was none of that. After you cancel your training sessions and gym membership, you will be charged even after the 30 days. Very average gym, just wouldn’t recommend the training sessions

I love this branch of the Y. The pool is one of the best I’ve visited - really well maintained with friendly guards (and a sauna!!) The studios are clean and bright with enough space for everyone. Erika’s yoga classes and Alicia’s Zumba classes are my absolute favorites - all of the instructors I have met are extremely kind, patient, creative, and encouraging. Unfortunately this place has declined a lot. There use to be nice staff there but now most of the staff is rude, mean, and unhelpful. The front desk is absolutely dreadful, children run freely, young people smoke in the front of the building and Kidzone is ran by a bunch of staff who are glued to their phones and don’t want to interact with the children. Don’t trust these people with your kids…they don’t even want to pick up a baby!

I’ve been a member of F45 for around 2 year, I am a resident physician in a local hospital Negatives: When I first joined, I was led to believe that I could attend classes flexibly. However, policies changed, and now there are fees for even minor adjustments. While some coaches have been accommodating, I’ve been fined on many occasions. Despite holding an unlimited membership, my extremely busy schedule occasionally prevents me from attending for weeks at a time, and it’s just upsetting to be fined for the days I’m emergently called to work. With that being said, I had to abruptly end my membership due to the lack of flexibility and the basic human mistake of not canceling. It’s not about the money at the end as much as it is about the hurt. Some people are treated better than others. The equipment is old (sandbags). Positives: Respectful atmosphere, great community, excellent workouts. I wish them all the best nonetheless and they do have a wonderful family.

OBA is a phenomenal place to drop-in, I always love coming back and taking a class here! When it comes to gyms in Philly the facilities are second to none, but it’s the coaches and staff that make the biggest impression each time I visit. Coaches are incredibly nice!!! I am pretty bad at workout compared to others. Whenever I struggle with workout, they modify workout for me or come and explain again how to do. Also, when I am doing something wrong, coaches come to me and teach me again 😅😅. In addition, they always welcome me even though I can't come to gym frequently because of work schedule.
