I was initially planning to switch to another gym due to some miscommunication. However thanks to the exceptional customer service provided by Melly or Melanie, I’ve completely changed my mind. Her dedication and professionalism have truly stood out and because of her, I’ve decided to return to this gym after my current contract ends. Huge thumbs up for her outstanding service!👍👍

Worst gym I have ever been to. One of the ladies who works here does not care about the customers at all. The equipment is always messy or broken. They add so many extra fees to make money. The dumbbells are always all over the place. Plates are scrambled and unorganized. Leg extension machines(all of them) are crooked and slanted. The cable machines are all old and uneven in the upstairs floor. I'll say two nice things about this gym because majority is negative. They have lots of treadmills and the bathroom looks decent. Outside of that, this gym is not good at all. They charged me extra and I got the lady on the phone was no help and said it is not their fault when her co worker was the one that told me my issues here with payment were resolved. I can not make this up, she then proceeds to not answer any calls because she knows what they did is wrong but because its "policy" she can hide behind it and not actually help.

I’ve been charged $108 MONTHLY by Speakeasy Los Angeles, and I just realized they’ve been taking money from my account for months without proper notice. Canceling the membership is a nightmare!!! it's nearly impossible to get in touch with anyone to resolve this. At this price point ($108), I’d rather go to John Reed or another gym that offers more transparency and better service. Now I have to cancel my card just to stop the charges. Feels like a complete scam. Avoid at all costs!

very-very-very bad gym I cancelled my membership 2 months ago, the staff told me that they cancelled your membership. But they lied to me. It turns out that they didn't cancel it. The staff works very badly. I didn't use the membership and didn't come to the gym, but they took my money twice, once $35, once $69. This is not a gym, there are scammers, thieves, don't come to this gym, it's a very, very bad gym, they are thieves. They only know how to withdraw money from your bank card, that's all. 👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻

The gym presents a spacious and stylish environment, with a plethora of equipment ensuring minimal wait times for users. An impressive abundance of restrooms, paired with the luxury of a sauna room, amplifies the facility's upscale feel. However, there are operational shortcomings: a scarcity of water refill stations compromises convenience, while the neglectful etiquette of not re-racking free weights diminishes the otherwise pristine ambiance. The absence of 2.5lbs plates is a noticeable gap in the equipment roster, potentially hampering fine-tuned weight adjustments for serious trainers. Overall, while the gym impresses in its aesthetics and scale, there's room for improvements in functionality and user discipline.

I’ve been a member of the YMCA for a while, but after my recent experience with Harrison at the front desk, I’m seriously considering canceling my membership. I went to ask for help with my barcode, and Harrison was unbelievably rude. He told me to go to the YMCA Hollywood location instead and seemed shocked that I was even a member. When I mentioned my account, he asked if I knew the password, even though there’s a photo of me on the account. He didn’t seem to like my attitude and became very impatient and short with me, which is when my attitude shifted. To make matters worse, after this interaction, he deactivated my account without any explanation. The complete lack of professionalism, courtesy, and respect is unacceptable. I expect far better from an organization like the YMCA that’s supposed to value its members. I’ll be taking my membership elsewhere if this is how customers are treated just because you don’t know how to solve a very simple technical issue that sometimes can get frustrating you just don’t tell a customer to go to the next one. That’s not how you treat someone especially in a place like ymca. I have my little cousins that goes there it’s supposed to be safe space for families and kids. I was very very disappointed with how I was being treated.

The people that run this are thieves. I needed to place a hold on my membership and did so online through December. today Nov 2, I got charged for the membership fee! I took screenshot of the hold confirmation email from Oct 15 and my bank screenshot today and hope it takes less than 5 business days to read my email and then finally refund my fee? No excuse for this type of business practice. I won't be going back.

I’ve been coming here for years. It’s very clean, the staff is friendly, they have most equipment I need, and an indoor pool and sauna which I love. That being said, it’s cramped, it’s small, there’s not enough room for as many people go there at peak hours. Another thing that I don’t like is since covid they changed the hours so that it closes at 8 pm, it’s closed for 3 hours in the middle of the day and it’s closed weekends. There is no reason to keep the hours like this from what I see! Overall I like the gym, but please change back the hours

Very happy with the Westwood location. Facilities are top notch. Never had to wait dor any weights. The gym has a steam room and great locker room amenities. Machines and locker room are always spotless as it should be. The customer service is what makes this location stand out. Chris in particular is very helpful ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

$250/month for one leg press machine… staff is awesome, place is always clean, but Equinox got cheap with this location. This isn’t an issue if you are going in the afternoon, but you might as well pull a number like you’re at a deli for the leg press machine between 5-7pm

EDIT: I am downgrading this to a two star review. Lately, management has been playing Fox News on literally ever other TV in the whole gym. It's inesacapable. Can't lift, run, or even change in the locker room without having to look at racist, misogynist drivel. Original Review: This is my “home” gym, and it is by far my favorite of the SoCal Equinoxes I’ve visited. Very well laid out. Spacious locker room. I have never run into an issue of cleanliness or broken equipment. Regulars are a mix of professionals working in West LA, with a smattering of grad students and retired folks. Feels fairly low attitude - especially compared to Beverly Hills. Class schedule is pretty robust and the instructors i’ve met have all been excellent. Perhaps most importantly, it’s never really that crowded, while always feeling lively.

Why are we paying more per month when the quality and amenities of the gym have gone down? The steam room has been out of order for weeks, the scale in the men’s locker room is broken, the snack bar/smoothie shop downstairs has been closed for at least a week, and the new equinox brand soaps in the bathroom are extremely low quality and gave one of my friends a RASH on their head. If you are increasing the price 3-4 times in a single year on people, you MUST increase the value they are getting from the service you are providing. Who the hell is running the show here? They should be fired.

Very disappointed of this what called‘Luxury gym” they don’t value honesty or integrity. I have contacted them hundreds time for refund since I wasn’t able to practice,, they asked for doctor note and even after I did provide it , the manager in NYC told me that she will be contacting team in LA. However, they email me like they don’t know anything, and then when I respond I only receive auto messages . They all care about how they could charge for anything,, but they have no integrity,,it’s really not classy or luxury when it comes to customer service. Very cheap CS honestly. If I could do zero stars, that what I could give. Thank you!

I want there on a guest pass, just to see if I like it. I did not. Club hours supposed to be till 7pm today. I was in the sauna at 6.30 pm when cleaning lady very rude opened the door and told area is closed. So they must start cleaning it at 7pm, instead they interrupted relaxation and this is terrible. All this noise and I was not able to use steam room. Horrible experience and it’s just not I want for myself. Cleaning must start after the place closed not before. So I would never will be a client because behind all clients services this place is trash.

Been at this club since May of 2023. I signed up with executive membership and love it. It’s the most complete club in all of Los Angeles. Not perfect, but it’s close. They have basketball courts, racquet ball, pickle ball, swimming pools, jacuzzi, sauna, steam room, a parking structure, cafe, lounge area, work area, a rooftop exercise spot, and much more. You should at least come try it out.

I’ve been a member here since January, and I genuinely love this gym. At first the price tag was kind of painful but now, I spend so much time there it’s worth it. From the new coffee shop and always open tables to work from, the sauna and showers, classes, weight areas, it’s easy to spend 2 hours here a day. I also feel like most people, from the members to instructors to front staff, are super friendly. I genuinely enjoy this gym, and am really glad I joined!

Amazing sport club in LA. I’ve been only to this Equinox and I loved it. I’ve tried some other gyms and this one is my favorite. High quality service, clean spaces, interesting classes and a huge variety of choice! The monthly subscription is very expensive though, but if you can afford it, I think it’s worth it!

I’ve been a member for many years, and in the early days, it was undoubtedly a 5-star facility. The service was top-notch, the place was always spotless and well-organized, and they had the best, most up-to-date equipment. If anything broke down, it was fixed immediately. In the five years leading up to COVID, it slipped to a 4-star experience. Cost-cutting measures became evident — the quality of the equipment declined, cleanliness standards started to drop, and overall service was not what it used to be. Since COVID, it feels like the gym has settled into being a 3-star facility. Cleanliness in the locker rooms, spa, and showers has noticeably deteriorated. Broken equipment or amenities now take weeks to repair, and that’s only after multiple complaints. To be fair, they have upgraded several machines, which is a plus. But there’s a palpable shift in employee attitude — it often feels like they just don’t care. I’ve reported issues in the spa area to several staff members, only to be met with indifference or excuses, as if they’re all just passing the buck. Another major issue with cleanliness is that, to be fair, it’s not entirely the club’s fault. A lot of it comes down to inconsiderate members who leave towels behind in the showers, discard Band-Aids, or leave shaving razors lying around. However, the club bears responsibility for failing to address it. Despite my repeated requests, they’ve refused to confront the issue head-on by making explicit announcements, sending member-wide emails, or posting clear notices around the shower area. A simple, direct message reminding members to clean up after themselves could go a long way, but the club seems unwilling to take that step. If it weren’t for the hottest steam room in town, I would give them a 2 1/2 star.

Perfect value for the price. Family membership for 100$! We signed up because of the swimming lessons for the child, but I also tried swimming - and everything was clean, the pool wasn’t crowded and sauna/steam/jacuzzi were a great bonus too! I like the option of reserving the line. I am not going to be using the gym - it seems a little too crowded and not well equipped for me. But i tried yoga and I will be doing it from time to time.

So me and my son went to the YMCA for first time and I let him swim for one hour but before that I thought that they have dryers and every boys girls women’s and men’s room locker room and there was no thdryers in boys and girls room so my son had to get out of YMCA with wet hair and I’m worried about him to don’t get sick. by the way, when I ask the staff who they were there for help help me they were not they don’t have any good manners and they were rude and they didn’t help me anymore even they dident care. i’m so sorry for this situation. I thought the YMCA it’s the place for the family care and member care and I didn’t know that’s much careless.

Not worth 105$, because classes and swimming pool always full and they will hold your right to reserve spot for classes if you don’t check in with the coat h even though nobody tell you to do that. To cancel your membership you have to email and that takes 30 days to get processed. Insane!!!! Get cheaper gyms with way more benefits. The staff always not helpful and can’t fix anything!!!! Otherwise the facility clean and nice.

This place is always packed no matter what time you go there. The equipment is limited and it's constantly in use so you end up waiting and practically begging for a turn. The most ridiculous part is that there is only one portable fan for all the rooms and whenever you go to the cardio room for example it's not there so you're left struggling to breathe with everyone sweating! They say we have to move it back and forth, sorry! By the way they charge you for the parking daily! And almost impossible to find a spot in the area! On top of that, people are constantly dropping weights and not a single employee says anything when they see that. It's just so annoying and distracting. Not recommended at aaaaalllll!

When the Westside Family YMCA closed down, I became a member of David Barton Gym and then Equinox. Now I am definitely glad to be going to the Collins and Katz YMCA for lots of reasons. The first is it is near me to drive and not too far of a walk as well. I want to mention some people, Kalena is very nice and helpful and patient. Joseph is also very nice and helpful and I enjoy talking to both of them. As for working out I used to not have a routine and so I didn't enjoy going to the gym. A major change happened when I took personal training sessions with Carl. I learned a lot from our sessions, because Carl is a fantastic trainer with lots of knowledge and expertise. Thanks to our sessions, I am going consistently to the gym and I am loving working out and am motivated to see the progress I can make and see great results. So these are my thoughts, thank you and have a great day!

I tried to join equinox not just for my personal use but also explored whether to bring my corporate company team to equinox but the system is chaotic and as a result utterly unreliable in terms of making any training or spa appointments or even trying to pay for these sessions - I can’t bring my business account here as the service is poor and on 2 attempts to book simple private training and physio sessions all appointments got lost or dropped from their system so I turn up both times and both times there is nothing on the system recorded - there is double bookings and the system on both occasions dropped my account off their system - I have wasted so much of my time -equinox is definately not worth wasting time with - looks glossy and fantastic but the critical service required to support that is lacking to a shocking degree. My experience was frustrating and wasted money and time and my advise is Do not join this gym. In LA there are plenty of better gyms with higher basic level of service support.

Hello, I had a contract for one year, there was an automatic payment, the contract ended 2 months ago, a letter came about the end of the contract, I have been going to another gym for 2 months now, and yesterday I discovered that they are still writing off my monthly payment in the amount of 287 dollars, I write letters to the general manager, the concierge, there is no answer from either of them for 5 days, I call the concierge, they say that the contract goes into leasing after a year, and your membership is still active!!! Why does no one talk about this at the time of signing? Why does not any confirmation of this come? Do I want to renew the contract or not??? I did not expect this from a company like you ... this is more like a scheme to profit from other people's money!!!! No recalculation and does not want to return my money, although there was no activity during this period! I am obliged to know about all this myself, I am obliged to call you myself, so that it turns out to be canceled my membership! Scam! Because of people like you, I never want to set up automatic payments, so as not to fall for such tricks to give away money!

In regard to equipment and overall quality, I was fairly happy with the gym outside of limited business hours and so many members that the equipment was never available (especially if you work a 9-5 and go in before 8a or after 5p). DO NOT trust or sign up with Jan, he is highly unprofessional and will ghost you the moment your credit card hits auto bill. He dodged my emails for 2 weeks when I tried to cancel, I had to eventually call in and find someone else who would allow me to cancel without the obvious gimmicks. If you have the budget for a luxury gym don’t waste your money here.

Today marks the sixth day this month that I have had to leave the gym several seconds after walking in because there are no machines available whatsoever. I understand that there are rush hours for every gym however, it has gotten simply out of hand at the Equinox gyms in Los Angeles especially the one in Hollywood. Multiple trainers are taking on clients during rush hour and holding multiple machines at the time per client. This practice doesn’t make any sense and it shouldn’t be allowed. Today I was making my way towards the only open machine and I was cut off by a trainer who was literally running to get there before I could. I have also gone up to seemingly empty machines only to have a trainer tell me it was one of several bring reserved for their client’s workout. The trainer proceeded to leave said machine unoccupied for 20 minutes — longer than I would have needed it. I joined equinox for the promised amenities — one of which was limited capacity. This clearly is a promise that they have failed to uphold. They care more about commissions for new contracts than the fact that this gym is overrun. Not only are you wasting my money; you’re wasting my time.

Sorry but I have to agree with the other user. The gym is just too full and all the machines are often occupied. This could easily be solved by leaving the gym open 24/7 because then people could come outside of the rush hour. The gym itself is clean and offers a lot of training rooms. Nice.

I came here on a guest pass, and absolutely love this place. It is chic, private, with any amenity you would need. I spent about 4 hours here complete with a workout, 10-minute sauna, then enjoyed the rooftop jacuzzi and lounge pool, followed by a healthy smoothie at the restaurant. It really feels like a day spa. It’s great if you can work remote or don’t need to drive all over LA during the day as it is right in the middle of all things traffic unless you’re able to go late in the evening. They also have very good classes and a spa where you can pay for massages, nail care, etc

Love this gym! Honestly, the closest comparative option being Equinox comes very short to HEIMAT (truly objectively speaking). The only reason why someone would pick Equinox is because it has access to multiple locations, BUT, if you live in LA and want your go-to gym, this place has unlimited classes on top of clean and non-packed facilities.

I’ve been a member of Heimat Gym in West Hollywood for a while now, and I can confidently say that it’s one of the best gyms I’ve ever been to! The atmosphere is always welcoming, and the gym is equipped with top-of-the-line equipment. What truly sets this gym apart, though, is the staff. Kayla, Dalia, and Annie have been absolutely amazing — always going above and beyond to make sure I feel supported in my fitness journey. Together, Kayla, Dalia, and Annie create an atmosphere of care and attention that makes Heimat Gym stand out. The Griffin Club Los Angeles is a great spot for those seeking a mix of fitness, socializing, and relaxation. The facilities, including the tennis and pickleball courts, are well-maintained, and the fitness center is modern and fully equipped. The pools are a highlight, offering a perfect escape on sunny days. The dining options are solid, though the menu could use a bit more variety. The ambiance is upscale yet welcoming, making it a pleasant space for members to connect. However, the membership fees are on the higher side, and at times, the club can feel a bit crowded during peak hours. Overall, it’s a wonderful club with plenty to offer, but there’s room for small improvements to make it truly exceptional.

I initially got a membership for tennis and they lied to me about having quiet spaces and tennis program for older teens. I went to the club to get work done and all I could hear were children shouting and screaming. When trying out their “older tennis teen class” (supposedly with 17,18 yr olds) it was actually filled will 11 year olds…and was told that the only other tennis class option was a live-ball session with older men…The initial fee was 2,000 before even paying for the membership…def not worth it unless you only go in the morning or are a mom with kids that need to be entertained…It feel like your at a children's play park more than half the time and the food is mid for the amount you pay for a membership.

Not enough water fountains for a physical education building, and too many cockroaches. The handicap entrance leads to the basement, but it's impossible for a wheelchair to get to the sub-basement (where group exercise rooms are used for various activities). There's allegedly an elevator to take you from the basement to the first and second floors, but it--like the rest of the building--looks like it hasn't been serviced in decades. Some brave souls have taken the elevator and emerged unscathed, but they never want to take it again...

Do you like games? Have you played the memory match game? Well then you'll love it here. Try finding the other pair of weights to match the one you are looking for at this gym. This place might of have gotten a remodel, but either or- this YMCA's staff are lazy to clean up the night before ( I was here at 11am- highly doubt someone came early in the morning to make this mess) or I am ashamed of my hispanic community for being this dirty and unorganized and even less-- mindful of others. Either which way, I came here because I was in the area, but sure sucks for who ever comes to this gym because I'll take my self elsewhere.

In the same line with 24 hour fitness gym, club one etc. For $50 per month, it gives great value and plus they validate parking which is very rare in the city. If You Have Kids, This is NOT the right Gym for your kids. Besides this Gym being dirty and lack of AC in some rooms and the lockers smelling like urine and hairs on the floor; this Gym definitely does not treat family Gym members equally and fairly when it comes to the usage of the exercising facility. My 11 year old kid wanted to exercise along with me in the cycling and treadmill room, but the staff refused my kid's entry because he was under 13, but then the staff said that if I paid $20 extra aside from what we're already paying for "our membership", my kid would have access along with one of their staff no matter the age. Because even seen 5 and 8 year old kids in the cycling bikes as we walked by. I work hard for my money and pay my monthly membership for my kids and myself, and for what? for my kids to not be able to exercise and make a positive healthy use of the money we're paying for this expensive membership! when all they have is access to the babysitting room and the pool. In that case might as well stay home right? The staff at the Wilmington Y are thief's, because I know the one in San Pedro has access to the exercise facility for the kids included with their membership as it states in its contract and as it should be. P.S . WORST FACILITY AND CONS AT THAT!

I like that this gym is near by and it has a lot of machine's. But for what you pay the elevator is DISGUSTING !!!! When you are tired and don’t want to take the stairs the elevator is so gross. The stairs are covered in gum. The whole parking lot has never been swept cleaned up or pressure washed a lot of gym equipment needs to be reupholstered. When it rains it’s leaks and there is sections where the ceiling is falling apart. The elevator hasn’t been inspected since 2017. It’s supposed to be inspected every year.

You guys need to get it together. RAT FECES on the floors in the shower, steam and sauna areas is becoming a health hazard. You say you close the wet areas an hour early for cleaning but in the morning the showers, steam and sauna are as dirty as the night before. Same bottle caps and trash on floor in all areas. Steam room smells moldy. Today the sauna smelled like week old sweat and was filthy. They don't enforce the rules in steam and sauna area. People go in fully clothed wearing shoes with makes the areas super dirty and unhealthy to breath. The steam room has been closed for almost a month with no signs of being fixed. The Jacuzzi was not working for 2 months and they fixed it. The steam room went down. It’s very rare that the steam, sauna and jacuzzi work at the same time. They add water to soap dispensers instead of adding more soap. They went weeks without hanging any soap at all. We pay money every month and then a fee once a year for maintenance so you guys should be doing way better and not taking advantage of you costumers. Any CEO, Manager and employee should be embarrassed.

i love many aspects of the speakeasy gym.... lots of great equipment, lovely pool for lap swimming, hot tub, dry and wet sauna , variety of ages and generally not over crowded. Its a great place to go escape the grind of la and take it easy at the speakeasy.

I only go here because they have a plethora of machines to use, but besides that, this gym is absolutely filthy, disgusting, and gross. They never clean the bathrooms, there’s always something leaking from the ceiling, the steam and sauna are always broken, there’s rat poop in the bathrooms that sits there for weeks. Treadmills are out of date and some of them are falling apart and machines go broken and take forever to fix. They took away their beautiful dance studio and hot cycling room and their smoothie bar. This gym use to have character to it, but the new owner just stripped away everything creative about it. Also, the parking lot is filthy with broken glass and trash everywhere. Wish this place would just do better on the sanitation part of it. Also customer service is lacking a lot.

This is definitely a place to come get ripped, enjoy the view of the mountains. There is a personal trainer/Manager named Edwin who is very knowledgeable of all the equipment and recourses the Gym has to offer, including 3 floors, swimming pool and much much more. There are also various other locations in the area.

This gym is horrible. There are no toilet seat covers or toilet paper in the bathroom. The gym needs a good cleaning for months and no one has done anything about it. The neon lights are just to hide the dirt. If they were white lights, no one would even train there. There is a total lack of commitment to the people who are registered at the gym. It is also impossible to cancel the plan. I`m living in other state and they are imploring me to go to Van Nuys cancel the membership, horrible! I`m sharing my last time that I went to the gym and took some photos of the male restroom

If I can place negative stars on this gym then I would. This specific location is the dirtiest gym with the worst customer service ever. Whoever the girl that works the front during the day and the guys that work the evening are the worst people I've ever spoken to. I called this gym to cancel my membership when in reality it was supposed to be cancelled a year ago until I noticed a charge on my account. I called to confirm the cancellation and told me I had to go in person to do it. I asked to speak to the manager and they told me the manager would be there the following day. I called the following day and the front desk girl told me they don't have a manager and was extremely rude about it. I don't know who the hiring staff is on this payroll but I really question their judge of character. TIP: Don't ever let them bully you into going into the gym to cancel your membership because I called a different location who was more helpful. They were able to process my cancellation. Overall, this company is such a scam.

I like how spacious this gym is and they really spread out all the machines so that’s a plus. I love the food/juice area was well!!!! Nice addition. Juan is also so awesome! Best gym employee ever! People should take notes from him!

Do not waste your time signing up here, called yesterday was told I am able to cancel my membership once I had paid my membership fee which I did and to stop by the front desk which I did, than was assisted by a guy who claims he is the “manager” and the “gm” and has a history of making girls uncomfortable. They will not cancel your membership at all, will charge you 3 times the amount you were promised when signing up. I had showed the guy my contract of the cancellation agreement and all he can say was “you can’t cancel until you pay this fee $118 annual fee (which I paid $135 for the annual fee 2 months ago) or you will be denied entry” I looked at my billing inform on my account and they tried to charge me another annual fee which I paid when I had signed up and was told I won’t have to pay again until November. Now I am in communication with my bank to despite any charges from them because this a fraudulent gym. FYI THE BASKETBALL COURT IS STILL NOT OPEN, THE GIRLS RESTROOMS ARE ALWAYS DIRTY, AND NO CUSTOMER SERVICE, stuff here will literally not help you at all. They have no communication with one another and lack of sense.

I have been coming here for the past 3 years, I enjoy the The convenience of the location of this gym, and how friendly the employees are the thing I’ve loved about this gym is that there is a pool and it’s open year-round. There are enough machines or weights to be able to work out and there are a handful of other things available if you come in and talk with the front desk. What I have seen, is that the equipment has gotten a lot better and there are a lot more lights. It really looks awesome compared to what it was a couple years ago. I highly recommend anyone and everyone to come and check it out
