Best Gym near Union, New-jersey

I want to hugely thanks Mayra at LA Fitness Union! I initially signed up for a membership but realized after my first workout that the gym wasn’t the right fit for me. I was concerned I’d have trouble getting my money back since I had signed up just two hours prior. However, when I went back the next day, Mayra was incredibly understanding and helpful. She made the cancellation process smooth and stress-free, and I received a 100% refund with no issues. Her professionalism and customer service were outstanding. Thank you, Mayra!

Signed up for my 3 day trial pass. It was my first time signing up for a membership gym (and going to a gym since college) and it was a great experience! The staff the gym were very friendly and open to all the questions to you had. Mayra, one of the staff members did an exceptional job giving me a tour around the gym. The shower and locker rooms were very clean, and they had plenty gym equipment so you are not waiting around for a slot to open. There’s also a pool and child room in this gym! Overall, this is a great place if you wanted a to go to gym!

The worst LA fitness & overall gym in the area. Very hostile environment and terrible customer service. Very argumentative staff. They should invest in professionalism. People come to the gym to destress and workout and you leave more stressed going here. There is always an issue! It’s a scavenger hunt looking for equipment. I got the okay to briefly use a piece of equipment that no one was using from the training room, because it was no where to be found on the main floor; only for another female trainer to walk up and aggressively snatch it from my hand & refuse to let me use it. This is not an issue at any other gym! Unprofessional & staff does not support its members. Always an excuse for the unprofessionalism. I refuse to continue to pay this place. Today was my very last day there.

Used to be nice, now is just disgusting. No one cleans, garbage every where and mirrors probably haven’t been touched in months looks like . This pic taken before gym opened up. You would think someone would’ve wanted to clean before customers come in. Do better!

However, one glaring issue has become increasingly difficult to overlook in the LA Fitness of Union is the outdated gym equipment. While the facilities are generally somewhat clean and spacious, the equipment often feels like it belongs to another era. Aging Equipment Many of the machines show significant wear and tear, with faded labels, squeaky mechanisms, and outdated technology. These issues not only diminish the overall workout experience but also raise concerns about safety and effectiveness. Fitness technology has advanced significantly in recent years, yet LA Fitness of Union seems to lag behind in adopting newer, more user-friendly, and ergonomically designed machines. Lack of Attachments One particularly frustrating issue is the lack of standard attachments for cable machines and other equipment. It’s disappointing to find essential attachments missing during peak hours, and many of those available are old or worn out. As a result, I’ve had to purchase and bring my own attachments just to complete a proper workout. This inconvenience is a clear sign that it’s time for LA Fitness to invest in modernizing their equipment inventory. The Need for Modernization In a competitive fitness industry, it’s crucial for gyms to stay up-to-date with current trends and technologies. Members expect a variety of functional, well-maintained, and innovative equipment to achieve their fitness goals. Adding updated machines, touch-screen interfaces, and a broader range of attachments would not only enhance the user experience but also attract and retain members who are considering other fitness options. Conclusion LA Fitness of Union has the potential to offer a stellar workout experience, but the outdated equipment and lack of standard attachments are holding it back. It’s time for a much-needed investment in upgrading the facilities to meet the expectations of modern gym-goers. Members should not have to compromise on quality or bring their own equipment to make up for these shortcomings. I hope LA Fitness takes these concerns seriously and prioritizes equipment updates in the near future.

I am extremely disappointed with our recent experience at the Union, NJ YMCA, where we enrolled our son, for summer camp. Despite registering and paying, a clerical error led to us not receiving necessary camp information, resulting in our son missing the first three days. Further aggravating the situation, food provided for our son, clearly labeled, was misplaced, leaving our son without a proper lunch meal and severely hungry after a full day at camp. When I addressed this with branch director Jessica, the conversation was defensive and dismissive, focusing on excusing staff mistakes rather than addressing the negligence that led to my son’s distress. She did not even return our Tupperware that has our son's name labeled to it. Can you please return it to us? It's his favourite and I need it back! As a parent, I value professionalism and accountability, qualities that were sorely lacking in our interaction with this YMCA branch. We withdrew our son from the Summer camp after one day and seek other arrangements where his well-being would be a priority. This experience was not only disappointing but deeply concerning, highlighting a significant need for improvement in staff training and management oversight at this facility.

I love this YMCA location! We're a family of three, and love the concept of "family swim". The pool is always clean and the staff is awesome. Our toddler takes swimming lessons on Saturday, Miss Sharon is a great instructor! We also have had other instructors and all of them are good. ☺️

I definitely will not suggest you bring your child to the daycare for any form of childcare, the staff along with the directors do not communicate well, and are unaware how the children in the daycare are being treated. They also need to have more diverse staff members that can relate to different ethnic groups of children. Plus they change staff members to much, to quick. They lie to protect the staff instead of meeting with the parents and staff for resolutions. A very low grade daycare and would NOT recommend you bring your most precious Child to this establishment.👎🏽👎🏽👎🏽👎🏽 DO NOT SEND YOUR CHILD THERE!!

I went to the Five Points YMCA to sign up for the pool and the receptionist, a young lady, I forgot her name but her name started with a "J", she was so very nice, helpful and professional. Lovely facility as well. Nice and clean and the element is also wonderful!

If I was able to put 0 stars, I would. They are biased, liars, and way to nosey when it comes to people’s households. I took my child out of this daycare as soon as I realized how bad their communication was. Once they dislike a child, they will treat them bad, they left the same pamper on my child all day. They leave my child thirsty. Do not recommend!

Don't be a member here. Broken machines, never get fixed. Broken lights, you can't see in the weights area very unsafe. Water leaks, they have buckets to catch water. Noise place. Not enough handles, bars, etc. Owners don't care. Machines not updated. Go somewhere else. I posted pictures.

I went in a rush to get information about this place. Also visited both ymca, it is beautiful clean, private parking available, also you can find easy parkinf on the street. The staff was very atentive and i had a fast tour because i was in a rush, but is was enough for me to see this is an excellent place to workout, the people using the facility look respecful with high standards. Lookjng foward to get enroll soon.

I have been going here for over 4 years , its an ok place if you are around 18-25 i would recommend another gym since its mainly older individuals in there 50s+ , but today there was a snow storm but it didn’t happen, theres people at supermarkets showing up to work buy why isn’t the Ymca open ? And im paying for a place to work out at

I love the yoga classes and the friendly staff! The equipment is well-maintained, the hours are great, and there are plenty of classes to choose from.

Once I got into the plaza I wasn’t able to see the location. Just be mindful if it’s your first time there that the establishment is all the way to the right of Home Depot. I loved how the outside of the building looked. The staff is friendly and helpful. The location is extremely clean. The guy that was cleaning the premises that night was so nice and such a hard worker. There are a few machines that are on the newer side compared to other gyms. It seems like a lot of the planet fitness location have the same set up now.

Always clean and inviting. The staff is courteous friendly and responsive. All the amenities are always available and properly maintained!

I used to go a lot more than a year ago, but I stopped going (Never stop paying even if you don't go ) I went again today to convince my friend to go with me, but I hate how cheap and selfish the massages are. I almost never go. I tried to get my friend to get a membership so we could go together. The lady refused me 10 minutes of massages from my membership, which encouraged me to cancel the membership and go to another one that is not cheap but more permissive.

I find this gym to be very unsafe. I was assaulted and my teeth were broken. The entire time I was being beaten on, none of the staff members intervened, and I had barely been able to escape to call the police myself! Making matters worse, even though I left in an ambulance, they still had to "talk" to the other member before considering banning him, which they refused to confirm with me if they did. I have a lawyer investigating the case now, and they are being very uncooperative to my lawyer's requests, mostly by not responding adequately to them. I would rate this gym a negative star if I could, and out of concern for your safety, I recommend not going to this gym.

Decent gym.. you get what's needed. A bit on the smaller side. Some wasted spaces that they can work with
