Franklin at Ironstone is a huge wealth of knowledge. Besides being strong as an ox, he's also one of the nicest people ever. Anyone who is interested in improving their health & fitness should run to see Franklin and utilize this amazing gym.

Franklin is an excellent coach. He has tremendously helped improve my lifting technique and broadened my knowledge of effective exercise programming. The community at the gym is fantastic as well, with lifters of all experience levels and backgrounds. Training with Franklin will put pounds on your lifts, and slabs of muscle on your body. I guarantee it.

I have been training with Franklin since July 2022. Prior to this, I had no consistent exercise routine with no idea where to start. As someone with a physically demanding job, powerlifting has been a great way for me to build strength and be in less pain. Franklin is knowledgeable and passionate. As a trainer, he meets each of his clients where they are at, and creates a training program based on their specific goals. I never thought I would be a person to exercise early in the morning, but Franklin’s guidance and encouragement continues to motivate me. We have made great improvements in my form/technique, and I am able to feel and see real changes in my strength! I have also enjoyed being part of the Ironstone Performance community. The gym environment is welcoming, and everyone is so supportive of each other. I love that there are lifters of all experiences and ages!

I have been a member of this gym since the day it opened and I love it. I followed the trainer, Franklin, from his previous gym and couldn’t be happier. The gym is clean and roomy, the equipment is high quality, and the atmosphere is great. The community around the gym is supportive and always pushing everyone to do their best. Franklin’s training style is focused on perfect form and avoiding injury above all else. He helped me rehab through a hiking related knee injury to an all time PR squat. I’ve seen him train numerous clients who have never set foot in a gym before into stronger and healthier people.

I've been training at Ironstone Performance for 4 months now. Franklin has been incredible. I'd recommend Ironstone to anyone looking to get serious about their fitness. He's met me and his other clients where each of us were starting at. Each training plan is tailored specifically to the person and their goals. In addition, he's very knowledgeable and has a great attention to detail. My form and the weight I'm moving have both drastically improved. Finally, Franklin, and the community he's developed, is both welcoming and encouraging for beginners or experienced lifters alike.

Operation Manager total disrespect for members. Locks were cut off all lockers with ZERO notice (no email or message on front desk board in the days/weeks prior). In a show of disrespect, the manager instructed the 100% of the items to be thrown away rather than to be placed in the front desk lost & found closet at the front of the club. We love this club, but the Managment is acting in an unacceptable fashion. There has been no communication from the manager to her staff or members as to what happened. This put the front desk personal in a terrible situation with no answers even three days later. Emails to the manager and corporate have gone unanswered. Members of the staff and trainers regularly told members that it was oaky to leave items in lockers overnight as it had become customary and commonplace (as even with >100 overnight locks there was plenty of lockers open for day-use >75% free capacity). Not one member was in need of a locker so there was just no reason to conduct a locker raid at all. The lack of communication coupled with the disrespect of throwing all personal items away is inexcusable. As is leaving the poor staff in the dark with no answers. An even more disconcerting fact has come to light as the Members are demanding answers. The manager is not available because she is training other personnel at the Ballard location. This person should not be training anybody they should be fired immediately for the disrespect and contempt they have shown towards the members by conducting a locker raid in this way and the subsequent lack of accountability or communication despite member outcry.

This gym really could be improved. Exercise mats are scarce and if available in pitiful shape. Hand weights not available in low weight 1-2 pound options. Group exercise classes are cancelled at the last minute. Kids club space could be repurposed. Bike parking? One off kids sitting? Valentine’s Day date night kid sitting? Guest privileges are nil or at best inconsistent and measly for Medicare advantage plan members. And importantly group exercise instructors play their music too loud. We should not be getting notices on smart watches that the music is at a level to damage our ears. If an instructor knows their music is too loud that they need to offer ear plugs, why don’t they just turn it down? Or worse, one instructor told the class that they don’t want to hear the feedback that the music is too loud! Instructors should be open to feedback. And notification should be posted if the water in the hot tub is not hot.

The one-star rating is primarily due to the terrible internet connection, both for LTE and the provided WiFi it’s practically unusable. If you want to listen to music, you’ll need to have it downloaded for offline use. Additionally, the gym is extremely crowded, especially between 3 PM and 7 PM. I highly recommend scheduling your workouts outside of those hours if you want any chance of getting access to a bench or rack.

Joined about a year ago. Facility is nice overall. The classes/instructors are fun! We mostly workout in the free weights section downstairs. In general, we’ve noticed that other members aren’t always considerate. There are signs everywhere saying to not be on your phone on the gym floor and yet there are always people yapping on their phone! There’s also always bros slamming weights down, which isn’t necessarily a rule but it’s just annoying and ridiculous. Sometimes there are people who are on a machine for 15 plus minutes scrolling on their phones, also kind of annoying.

His gym is spacious and ideally located by the water. Parking is plentiful, the equipment is great and it is never so crowded that you feel stifled or pressured to work out faster. The staff is attentive and responsive. The bathrooms are very clean including showers. I do not attend the regular classes but they look well run and attended. I wish there was a steam room and sauna!

Felt compelled to share my experience with this gym. I’m staying about 5 minutes away from the gym at Ronald McDonald House while my son receives treatment. I’m really happy I signed up at this gym during my stay here. It’s provided me an opportunity to get out and clear my head each day as we go through this. Email communication was prompt and comprehensive when I initially looked into signing up. The first day I dropped in, I was warmly welcomed and the process to get signed up was very easy. Can’t remember the fellows name who helped me out but he was very nice to deal with. Since signing up the gym has been great to workout at. Everything is clean, the other members are pleasant to be around and the variety of gym equipment is perfect. I’ll be moving back home tomorrow and wish I could bring the gym with me. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this gym to anyone in the area who might be interested. Thanks again for accommodating me. Jeff Turner.

If you enjoy listening to people talk on their phones while you work out this is the place for you- yeah they have a policy against it but no one pays any attention to it and when I asked a staff member to at least stick a couple no phone calls signs in the cardio area he declined to do so

Community Fitness is one of my favorite places in the whole world! It’s full of really caring, thoughtful and welcoming people. CF if not only a great place to find a fun workout but it’s a great place to get to know the other members and create longstanding connections. This place really cares for one another. The dance classes are amazing!! And all their other classes are incredible too. Cannot recommend this place enough!

This place is awesome! I’ve been to two classes here, dance club with Medora and the Afrobeats class and both were doable for a first timer. I have had dance class experience, but I had never been to these classes before and the way they are formatted means that you can scramble along even if you’ve never been there before. There are 2 to 4 minute songs, and the eight counts are repeated so you can pick it up after a while. I can see where if you come from week to week, you would have the dances down like the rest of the class. The biggest, and most lovable thing about community fitness is the warm and friendly reception I’ve had each time I’ve come there. Not just by the teachers but by the class members . I always seem to have a conversation or get high-fives or encouragement from the people around me. They have towels and water and lots of space to store Your stuff. Registration is efficient, parking isn’t terrible in that area. I’m excited to try more classes even though I live about 30 minutes away from here.

I really enjoy the studio! The front desk and instructors are all very welcoming regardless of your skill level. I’ve always struggled with committing to gyms and stuff as most of them have felt stuffy, unwelcoming, and elitist, and I’ve always felt nervous asking questions, but that’s not the case here. For the first time ever I’m exercising multiple times per week. So fun!

The gym had no supply of water, something that corporate should address immediately. Additionally, there was no water available in the refrigerator, and all of the drinks were sugar-filled. I left the gym in 15 minutes since I didn't have any water with me, which was really disappointing With world wide branches wasn’t expecting this kind of service

I recently visited Planet Fitness in Rainier Beach and found the experience quite satisfying. The facility is exceptionally clean, with an attentive staff that ensures the environment remains welcoming and orderly. There is a wide variety of equipment available, catering to diverse workout needs, and the Black Card area is adequately equipped for those seeking a more exclusive experience. While everything generally meets expectations, there’s always room for minor improvements to enhance the overall experience further. Nonetheless, it’s a great space to work out, and I genuinely enjoy my visits without encountering any significant issues.

The go-to club for communicable disease. Recommend fishing waders to access toilets and urinals across the urine soaked floors. Plenty of free Q-tips on the floor, another benefit of the upgraded black membership, tip: consider rinsing between users. more than satisfactory collection of clothes and shredded papers on the floor if one needs to nest. This despite 4 separate requests to maybe run a mop and broom over the place, although I dare say the 4 front desk employees appeared to be fully proficient iPhone social media surfers. Update, even after my complaint to the health dept, sanitary conditions are unchanged.

Outstanding Experience with Kayla at Planet Fitness I cannot say enough great things about Kayla at Planet Fitness! From the moment I walked in, her warm and friendly demeanor made me feel welcomed and comfortable. She truly goes above and beyond to ensure every member has a positive experience. Kayla is incredibly knowledgeable and always willing to answer any questions about equipment or fitness routines. She has a knack for making even beginners feel confident and supported, which is no small feat. Her professionalism and attentiveness are top-notch, and it’s clear she genuinely cares about the well-being and progress of everyone who walks through the door. What really sets Kayla apart is her energy and positivity. No matter what kind of day you’re having, her upbeat attitude is contagious and uplifting. She’s an absolute asset to the Planet Fitness team, and I’m so grateful for her dedication to creating such a welcoming and encouraging environment. If you’re considering joining Planet Fitness, having someone like Kayla on the team makes it a no-brainer. She’s simply the best!🤘🏽

I recently quit my gym on Capitol Hill due to a price increase, which didn't make sense given the condition of the gym. I used to go to Planet Fitness and thought that the other location might be better for achieving my fitness goals. I realized that I enjoyed Planet Fitness and that it offered me just as many great workout options, as well as amenities like tanning, Hydro beds, and massage chairs. I would recommend this location, even though at times it is a little dirty. It does seem like they have made some improvements to make it look nicer and keep it more well-maintained with better equipment.

Joining this gym has been one of the best decisions I’ve made for my fitness journey! From the moment you walk in, the atmosphere is uplifting and motivating. The staff is always welcoming, professional, and highly knowledgeable in fitness and health training, making it easy to stay on track with my goals. On top of that, the gym is always clean, well-maintained, and organized. Highly recommend!

I hadn’t been to a gym in about three years before signing up, mostly sticking to my apartment gym. So, I was a little anxious about getting back into a larger gym setting. I used to lift regularly, and the idea of starting over felt slightly intimidating. That said, I’ve been really impressed with how welcoming and supportive the staff has been. Dallas, who’s been helping me, has been fantastic - always answering my questions and checking in on my progress. The rest of the staff is equally great! I’ve been to other gyms like LA Fitness, but the personal, genuine interaction here really sets this place apart. Thanks y'all!

One of the best gyms in the area and I'm hesitant to give this review because it's never crowded and they have great Prices. Not to mention that a lot of their equipment is new! Staff is nice, plenty of bathrooms and parking - what's not to love?! they have a lot of classes but I've never taken one. Very unassuming and and plenty of TVs and other distractions, finally they don't blast the music too loud.

UPDATE AS OF 12/12/2023: RHF gave me a call after the 10/8 update which meant a lot. They were super kind and helpful on the phone and as we talked it became clear that my situation is an outlier, and they've really worked to make sure that cancelling your membership is a streamlined process. RHF is a small, locally owned gym and has a really robust volunteer program (one of the aspects I loved most about the gym, I think it's great that they are making fitness accessible to people) and we believe there was just a communication/misunderstanding when it came to cancelling my membership. They were able to reimburse me for 6 months of membership which meant a great deal to me. I'm bumping my review up to 3 stars. I really appreciate all of the time Alicia spent speaking with me and sorting things out - it is really great knowing the care and attention they are able to provide members in situations like this. ORIGINAL REVIEW: The gym is small but has all of the basics. If you're looking for a space to work out, this will do. This low rating and review is to serve as a WARNING regarding potentially predatory membership fees. I was a member of RHF in fall 2021 and spring 2022. I paid my monthly membership in cash after having read reviews of former members having a difficult time having their membership canceled (for some reason these are no longer viewable/still around.) I moved in May of 2022, and when I left, I canceled my membership with a front desk person on my last day. She assured me it would be canceled, and that there was nothing really to cancel since I had always paid in cash. It was certainly my fault for not realizing they had my card on file and were continuing to bill me for the past year and change. But it's just really unfortunate since I no longer live in the area and was verbally reassured my membership had been canceled. This is a fine local gym but please MAKE SURE you cancel your membership. Double and triple-check. Get written confirmation. I thought I was safe because I paid in cash and the desk person reassured me, but that obviously wasn't the case. I think I was more at ease because it's a small, locally owned gym - I spoke to the front deskperson, thought everything was handled, and wasn't vigilant, and that's on me. It's an unfortunate situation - since there was no paper trail of my cancelling, and I was so late to catch it, the gym's hands are pretty tied. This is a fine gym but I feel obligated to warn and remind others to be extra careful when cancelling. If you're looking for a gym in the area I'd recommend Rain City Fit - that's the gym I went to after RHF. It's a bit further but really worth it. I never once had any sort of membership problems with them (I paused my membership multiple times and and management was always extremely helpful and accommodating.) Good luck on your fitness journey! 10/8/2023 UPDATE My original review was 2 stars, but I have now decreased it to 1 - RHF never ended up reaching out to me after they responded to this review. I strongly feel that I should be reimbursed, but certainly the least they could do was reach out. I understand there was no paper trail of me cancelling, but I feel that speaking with a front deskperson should have been enough - it's clear that whomever I spoke with made a similar assumption as I did (I had been paying my membership fees in cash, so to cancel, all I had to do was stop coming in and paying in cash.) I feel pretty scammed and let down by a gym I formerly trusted.

If I give 0 stars I would. I’ve been on & off with this gym in particular since 2014, when I first came here there were hospitable, friendly staff at the front always folding towels. The gym upkeep was nice, clean, people had gym etiquette. Today?!?! Oh honey. There is no exclusivity, there were two young boys that kept coming in & out of the locker room trying to get a peep at naked women. Claiming they “didn’t know it was the women’s” but continued coming in multiple times. The women’s locker room is filthy. I almost wish gyms had to go through inspections like food restaurants and get ratings because this location would be CLOSED. They have upgraded equipment however should be investing in maintained and upkeep. The sauna window has grime and fingerprints all over it. I haven’t even peeked into the steam room since joining again out of convenience but it’s been horrendous, just seen a what looks like a homeless person pushing a cart around the gym today. I’m seriously appalled, I feel like I’m owed money back. Just find a private gym at this point. Invest in someone taking time to care for their space.

Gym as a facility is really good but what makes it great is the staff, more specifically Charles. My guy Charles at the front desk always comes with that 24/7 positive attitude. I’ve been a member of 24 Hour Fitness for decades, however it is absolutely filthy. There is dirt and dust everywhere. The bathrooms are disgusting and unsanitary. Attaching proof with a view of their urinals.
