Best Gym near Montvale, New-jersey

I'm still fuming after the appalling treatment my family and I received at Life Time Bergen County. As a guest of a current Life Time member, I was initially impressed by the facility, but our encounter with Wyatt in the Kids Academy was a deal-breaker. We will not be back, and we encourage others to stay away too. Let me first detail the unacceptable treatment of our children. Wyatt checked in our kids at Kids Academy and then demanded that I obtain a guest pass from the front desk. I let him know I am a guest of my friend's, and he just scanned her membership pass, but nonetheless, we went to the front desk for the guest pass. At the front desk, I was then informed this would require a $20 fee per child. This was surprising and contrary to my friend's previous experiences, as she has had guests at Life Time before, and has never been charged when they said their kids to the Kids Academy. We politely declined and informed the front desk that we're going to collect our belongings from the locker room, then will pick up our kids. They acknowledged this is perfectly fine. Upon leaving the locker room to pick up our kids, we were horrified to find my kids standing at the front desk, looking dejected and confused. When my kids saw me, they immediately expressed their desire to leave the premises. I learned that Wyatt had abruptly removed them from the kids' club, telling them they had to wait because "your mom didn't pay for you." Furthermore, he did this in a condescending manner. This was not only rude but also humiliating for my children. While I understand the need for policy enforcement, Wyatt's choice to be rude and condescending is inexcusable. His actions were not only unprofessional but also damaging to young children. As a parent, it's infuriating to see my kids treated with such disrespect. Unless you're willing to shell out hundreds of dollars monthly to be treated poorly, stay far away from Lifetime Bergen County. The combination of discriminatory practices, rudeness, and unacceptable behavior toward children makes this facility a hard pass for my family.

The woman that works at the front desk (l’m assuming she’s the manager) is incredibly rude. She’s very passive aggressive with the members when communicating something simple. I’ve had 2 separate encounters with her and she really just doesn’t care and it shows. Her attitude and lack of customer service is disgusting. Members pay an absurd amount of money to come to this gym and expect to feel welcomed and respected. The fact that there are several bad reviews about the manager and nothing has been done Is shocking. Please do something about it. She is clearly on some weird power trip.

I was guest when I went. This gym has everything. Pool steam room spa and more then workout area is nice they have studio for class the locker room has everything u need from razor to shampoo when u get done or need refuel they have place for food drinks. If you need spa after that hard workout they have place for hair massage The service was nice when I came in clean but price is high over 200 month I enjoyed working out there

I just found out, that because we are 65+, we cans only register for AURORA pool class a week in advance. The registration starts at 11:15 am. At 11:25 this morning the class was filled and was no waiting list. I was told that for Albany registration we have to have a different membership. And I suppose more expensive one. It is extremely disappointing. I consider it a discriminate practice. We only got this membership so that I can exercise on the pool. We tried a yoga class several ago and were severely disappointed . So at this point i cannot in good conscience recommend Life Time to anyone. I will just tell them our experience.

I came here because I was the guest of Marriott Park Ridge hotel. They gave you the pass to use this gym during weekday. It’s a very impressive and lively place. Friendly staff and nice facilities. Two thumbs up!!

Space is beautiful. But the customer service sucks. Left several messages for the manager Jonathon and emailed corporate with zero response. Told one price and then charged more. The one woman at the front desk was able to reach the manager, but then proceeded to have the conversation in Spanish with him. When I returned another day and saw her, not even a hello.

Beautiful gym, luxury feel. They really make good use of the small space. Unfortunately had to cancel this month - the closing hours are just ridiculous. Especially 5PM closings on weekends is insane, no other gym does that.

Amazing gym, small but very well designed with great equipment and amenities such as sauna, cold plunge and different classes, yoga, cycling and running and more.

This gym is an experience. Definitely a luxury feel from the moment you walk. At first glance it may seem small, but once inside the gym is very spacious. They have several machines (not a lot) and they also have classes. A huge plus is that this facility has a daycare for any parents looking to workout, but have no time or place to live their kids. It’s not bad compared to other gyms since you can get in and out pretty fast. At prime time, sometimes the locker rooms can get slightly cramped and it seems like the floors are dirtier than they have been in the past. The showers are good. The sauna is too small and the benches in them make a lot of cracking sounds when people move or sit on them. Sometimes it is a little too close for comfort. The equipment is very good. They really need to get the cable feed working so people can watch tv, especially sports games while they are on the treadmill or bike or stair master. For the price we pay, this should be fixed immediately. Otherwise there are only two TVs and you cannot watch any games while on the cardio equipment. Please management act as quickly as you can. Seems like a reasonable request to make cable available for the bikes and treadmills. Not everyone has yahoo or wants to watch Netflix, etc.

They charged me for months after my membership was cancelled, every time I call to fix this problem I’m told I would receive a call back and never have. I have been calling since October.

Had the best experience from the moment I called to inquire about classes to the moment I walked out after class. Carin was kind enough to extend the 1st class free offer to me even though I’m visiting from out of town (member at another location). That’s a true testament to the type of leadership and positive environment cultivated here. The studio is very clean and they offered towels, shoes, and wonderful cleansing towels post class! Class was energetic, positive, and the new bikes are amazing! Thank you all for a fantastic experience. I will definitely be back!

I was so excited to find and join Montvale Cyclebar!! The location is perfect and getting there is easy from Rockland, Bergen, or anywhere else in northern NJ! The instructors all have their own unique flair that they bring to class. The facility is clean and obviously well cared for! The staff is always incredibly friendly and willing to help you get your bike set up for a successful ride! And the workout is like NO OTHER! I feel like I am performing my best and given tons of positive encouragement. The classes are usually 45 minutes long and every minute is fun and entertaining, all while working hard and breaking a sweat! Do not be intimidated to come give it your first try, the staff, classes, and other riders are all SUPER friendly towards beginners! I am so excited to continue riding.

Gym is ok, but they have limited classes, and although they have some great instructors, some instructors i could not understand a word, and customer service is far from what you would expect.

I've done a few classes in CA and really enjoyed the atmosphere but the studio in my area is pretty expensive. I thought I'd do a trial while I'm unexpectedly back in NJ for a few weeks and I'm glad I did - the music and atmosphere is so motivating...I bought more classes to make it my go to workout! The classes are always pretty populated (a good thing IMO) and the instructors are fantastic - they care about your form & safety and always have sick playlists!

I’ve been a member of Orangetheory fitness for 10 years at least. I’ve been to several gems. Montvale is absolutely the best one and surpasses all of my expectations. Facility is spotless, the trainers are motivating it understanding. And the front desk staff is always welcoming and kind.

I have been to almost 100 OrangeTheory Studios and OTF Montvale is a FAVORITE. *Coach Katelyn always makes me, and EVERYone feel good about themselves with her support, encouragement and all around good cheer. *She also gives alternatives on the Fitness Floor when the Lunges hurt my Foot. Or my thighs. Ha!! 🤩ALL of the Coaches are so Great!🤩 *Coach Destiny is another great Coach Cheerleader. She gives great personal training suggestions on the fitness floor!! I always know she will make sure my form is correct for my most efficient movements. *Coach Steven is enthusiastic, helpful, kind and demonstrates with wonderful clarity!! I love taking his Strength50 classes!! *Coach Taylor is a born teacher and coach and her classes are so well run that clarity is her middle name!! I love Sundays with Coach Taylor! *Coach Drew coaches at 5am so I haven’t made it to his class but I know everyone that does, loves him!! 💪 *Coaches Lucas & Coach Dan are new so I hope to get to their classes one day. 👯‍♀️OrangeTheory is my best place to get a full, complete and well rounded Workout with the Tread or Bike or Strider and the Rower and Fitness Floor. -The Workouts are different EVERYday and the Coaches enthusiastically guide through the 60 minute Class. -OTF has Studios all of the United States and the World!! -I never have to lose consistency of my Workouts. -I make OrangeTheory Reservations before I go to Florida, California and even driving across the United States. 🏬 My favorite New Jersey OrangeTheory locations are Montvale, Wyckoff and Ramsey!! 🤩Manager Mia!! I love orange theory Montvale the coaches are the best. They are always ensuring that I get the best out of my workouts and I love how they come over and give me pointers on how to improve my exercise to get the most out of class. Although not every class is my best I know that I work hard for an hour and got some exercise done.

Horrible Experience - Avoid at All Costs I have never had such a frustrating and infuriating experience with a gym or business in general. I signed up for Orangetheory in Montvale when they had the founders' membership rate of $139, and I was going religiously until COVID hit. Like many others, my routine was disrupted, and when the pandemic hit, gyms closed. Orangetheory was one of the last gyms to close, but even after restrictions were lifted, I wasn't comfortable going back. So, I paused my membership. Here’s where everything went south: When the gym reopened, my membership automatically resumed, and I wasn’t informed about it. I didn’t even realize the charges started again until months later. I called the gym, and the manager at the time assured me that the charges would be refunded for two months, and they would freeze my membership until I was ready to return. That seemed fair, and I was happy with the arrangement. However, after I noticed another charge 11 months later, I realized they had resumed billing me after just one month of "freezing" my account. I immediately called, only to find out that the manager I spoke to was no longer with the company, and John had taken over. John was completely unhelpful and cold. He told me there was nothing he could do, and that the best he could offer was to refund me six months of the charges and cancel my membership. At that point, I was out $1,529, and I felt completely helpless. I tried to work with him, begging for any other solution, but he was rude and dismissive. I was in tears. To make matters worse, after I contacted my bank to reverse some charges, Orangetheory went ahead and recharged me for the amount they had refunded. I was livid. John, as usual, was conveniently "out of the studio" every time I tried to get in touch with him. Eventually, I had no choice but to cancel my credit card and ask my bank to help, but they only refunded me for one month as a "courtesy" due to the ongoing issues. Now, almost a year later, I’ve received a collections letter for a payment that was their mistake. Honestly, I never even wanted the "six-month credit" because I just wanted nothing to do with their shady practices. To top it all off, John was incredibly rude in every email correspondence and repeatedly misspelled my name, even though I signed every email clearly with my full name, “Sanah.” The lack of respect was astounding. This has been the worst customer service experience of my life. Avoid Orangetheory Montvale unless you want to get charged unfairly, deal with apathetic management, and face the possibility of being sent to collections for their errors. This place is a nightmare. **Rating: 0/5**

OTF is the only workout regimen I can actually stick to and I love this location. The coaches are great and staff are friendly and welcoming. The equipments are also well maintained and clean. Thank you Orangetheory for helping me on this fitness journey!

Love Rumble! The classes are fun but challenging. In 45 mins, I burn more calories with their workouts than any other workout I do! Plus the staff and instructors are friendly and really try to build a community within the studio. Shout out to Drew, best instructor there in my opinion, really knowledgeable and really pushes us in class!

Once you RUMBLE you WON’T WANT TO STOP!!! It’s a fully comprehensive workout where you are guaranteed to sweat and get sore in all the right places! It’s all worth it! The BEST coaches, staff and SUPER CLEAN, well organized studio! If you like high energy, loud music and nonstop fun, RUMBLE IS YOUR PLACE!

Had an amazing experience with coach Liz on 10/26 for a Saturday morning class. It was all mátense motivational and fun wrapped in one. My partner signed up to rumble after our session and it has been the best decision to change the pace of our workouts! Liz was funny, pushing us to move better and got all of us sweating. Will be back

Rumble Boxing is an amazing place to work out! The instructors are motivating and skilled, making each class challenging yet fun. The atmosphere is upbeat, with great music and energy. Perfect for anyone looking for an engaging, high-intensity workout!

Great energy in this class. The moves are clearly explained and you can go at your own pace. Teachers make it easy to follow, for a great workout. You get out what you put in!

I’ve been going to Spenga since the summer and more frequently now. I’d recommend it to anyone looking to get in shape. I love the structures of the workouts, the community and all instructors. They are all super kind, energetic and motivating. The facility is ALWAYS clean. Such a great place

I absolutely love this workout! As a full time working mom of three boys life is BUSY! I had to find a class that targeted it all in one and SPENGA does just that! I joined as soon as I toured the facility last summer and was so excited with my first class when they officially opened in November 2023. I have consistently gone 2-3 times a week since then and it has helped me lose 40 pounds! I haven’t felt this good since over a decade ago before my first son was born. I love the 20/20/20 platform and after working so hard thru cycle and strength the yoga and stretching is the best way to end the class! All of the staff and owners are wonderful and encouraging! I highly recommend you try a class if you are looking for a total body workout! 🙌🏻🙌🏻👏🏻👏🏻

Loving SPENGA getting stronger all the time. In one hour you get cardio, strength and stretching. Great instructors in a clean gym. Highly recommend SPENGA Montvale.

STAY AWAY. I am very disappointed. Initially when Spenga Montvale was starting back in the summer of 2023, I needed to leave my credit card to hold my spot for a class. I waited and waited. They didn't open up as promised so I joined another gym. Now, I have been charged for the last few 6 months a $159 fee to my credit card. Not a very good way to begin a business. I never even stepped foot in the gym. Sept 2024 and I'm still waiting to hear from them. I guess now I can add that they are liars as well. Highly recommend to stay away

Love love drop! All the staff and trainers are so welcoming! The facility is SO CLEAN!! bathrooms are gorgeous. The humming puppy studio is beautiful! Tons of options for classes. Definitely a place I look forward to working out in! Highly recommend.

A truly unique and immersive yoga experience unlike any other! The instructors are extremely helpful and welcoming. The studio is absolutely stunning and I love using all of the amenities after class, especially the sauna and cold plunge!

Humming Puppy is unlike any other yoga studio I've been to. The environment, the vibration, the culture, the staff...it always feels like a warm welcome home. Highly recommend!

I feel a sense of inclusivity in the presence of the Humming Puppy space, the instructors and the other practioners. Happy to call this yoga studio my home studio. The teachers at Humming Puppy share authentic yoga practices and the beautiful space is so relaxing. I love the Hum in replacement of music, the grounding frequency helps me drop into my body for deeper focus and connection.
