The easy access to the faculty and the amazing staff is what I love about being a member at the YMCA. They are welcoming and never make you feel like you’re a bother. They are helpful, courteous and most of all, kind…I appreciate their spirit of Aloha!!!

Staff at the welcome desk is very friendly and helpful. New equipment. Clean locker rooms. Good sized pool. Can get quite crowded. The maintenance manager and staff are very good. Staff in the physical fitness center aren't interested in helping anyone or cleaning anything, though. They just want to hang out with their friends or be in places they are not supposed to be. Finding them can be difficult. And their managers hide in offices or dissappear.

Being new to the island, I was a little hesitant to sign up because I didn't know anyone. But now I go almost every day and that has alot to do with the friendliness of everyone there. They make you feel like family!

I love the YMCA at Nu’uanu. Best yoga teacher- Genie Barker, absolutely incredible class that changed my entire well-being. Love the child care givers, David is a real sweetheart. Dane always has a nice smile & greeting upon arriving! Big weight rooms that are rarely full. Love the humongous locker room with lots of showers and even a dry sauna. Can’t beat it for the amenities and price on the island!

OrangeTheory is amazing! The coaches are motivating and make every workout fun and challenging. I love that you don't have to plan anything—just show up and get a solid workout every time. It's the perfect mix of cardio and strength training, and I always leave feeling accomplished. Highly recommend!

Orangetheory has changed my life! On 2/20/24 I went to “check out” the Orangetheory Waikiki location in search of a new gym having had left shoulder surgery 2/14/23. I took the noon class with Coach Dakota and joined right after! I have gotten so much stronger on the workouts utilizing the treadmill rowing machine and weights. I have completed many of the challenges. This past Saturday I completed the STRENGTH DRITRI doing things I would have never done or could before. I consider OTF Waikiki my Ohana. I have met so many great people from the coaches staff to participants. LIFECHANGING!

I was in Hawaii for 10 days and decided to purchase a week pass. Perfect gym with great equipment and friendly staff. Even though it is small, it was never busy when I went and sometimes it was just me there lol.

Info on their website is hard to come by but other than that it was a good experience. The gym is up on the third floor and offers day passes for $25 and weekly passes for $75. Comes with lots of amenities such as free locker access, showers, shaving utensils and other toiletries. Gym is well equipped though I would’ve appreciated a place to do tricep dips. Has lots of lighting thanks to large windows overlooking the downstairs fish tank which offers a behind the scenes view of the maintenance area. I will be going back.

Joseph the tennis instructor is AMAZING. The fact that his lessons are included in the gym membership was the driving reason my boyfriend and I decided to spring for the membership. Even though $175 for a month is steep, it’s so worth it to us to have access to not only the gym, but also lessons from Joseph. He’s so nice and a great coach. He notices the details and fine tunes your technique. Additionally Mindy at the gym front desk is always SO sweet. The gym is small but has everything I need. It also has a unique view of the top of an aquarium and you get to watch people go in to take care of the fish. Overall - I’d totally recommend this gym but ESPECIALLY Joseph and his tennis lessons!

Fit Waikiki is the obvious heir apparent to the old Honolulu Club. It is a high end fitness club with top quality gym equipment. In addition to having plenty of cardio machines, free weights and cable machines, it gives you access to the Alohilani Hotel's infinity pool, tennis courts and lots of other perks. There is also a spacious empty room with an enormous TV equiped with a huge variety of cardio workouts. This gym can satisfy the typical meathead who wants a heavy weight resistance workout, or the businessman who wants a casual workout followed by a swim in the pool or a game of tennis. If it had a steam room and/or sauna, it would be perfect. Perhaps they'll add it!

For a hotel complex this huge I was hoping for a full gym w/ barbell and rack, or cable machine, but oh well. If you're lifting they do have a really big set of dumbbells and 3 benches, plus some old kettlebell and medicine balls, a pull-up bar, etc. They also have 6 machines: 3 leg machines (press, curl, extension) and shoulder press, lat pulldown, and chest press. Lots of cardio equipment available! 14 treadmills, 5 steppers, 2 stair masters, 9 cycles, 3 reclined cycles, 3 ellipticals.

Definitely a small weight section but overall the gym was very nice and suuuper clean. Also was very convenient having the towels there. Oh by the way this is up on a higher floor, so if you're in a different building just know you have to take the elevator up to get to it.

Think you'll be finding any of the equipment you normally use at your gym? Forget it. This is just sad, and completely overcrowded. I feel like I need to see if I can get a temporary pass at a nearby gym. 🙄

Staff always welcomes us. They are always cleaning the high traffic areas. The machines are easy to use. The people that use this gym are all ages and respectful to each others routines. I try to come 2 days a week with a friend and it’s never too busy to get on the treadmill or stair master. It’s super convenient and has lots of parking.

Staff is always friendly, and facilities are super clean. Machines are always in good condition and if something is out of order they seem to be handled quickly. I only wish the whole facility was bigger, with more space to spread out and do functional training. But it's still my preferred gym over others in the area.

A lot of great things at Planet Fitness and a lot of them revolve around the app. You just bring up you upc code to check in. The massage chairs and beds are a huge plus for someone with a sore back. Really helps you loosen up especially for older members that takes a bit more effort. The machines are set up nicely and the hours you can’t beat open 24 hours 5 days of the week. The one thing I don’t like at this location at Ala Moana is almost every machine you go to people get on a machine and stay there for 20 minutes and this seems to be acceptable to the staff . They will do a set and then just sit there. 90% of the time they are resting and recovering to do their next set. There are not enough machines if you’re going to allow members to spend 80% of their use of a station to rest as well as do their workout. There should be signs that say “Do your set then get up until you are ready to use it again for your next set. Let someone else get a set in. At the very least alternate with one other person. This is no lie….you could have 3 other people do a set by the time the person rests their muscles to do their next set. The good thing is the app gives you an idea of how busy the gym is before you decide to go. If it’s 3 bars or more which is nothing expect to wait a ridiculous amount of time because at least 3 out of 4 people on a machine are resting. Why this behavior is allowed is beyond me. I’ve had many different gym memberships and this particular gym is the number one worst one as far as selfish people and wasted time for utilizing the equipment. That being said you can still probably make it work if you are willing to come when app says bars of 2 or less. If you do get up to let someone do a set they believe they then own the station which probably accounts for why this feeds on itself. Put up a sign “No resting on a machine for more than a minute”. That alone would triple the utilization. Some stations such as bench press are almost impossible to get a set in if there are 4 bars or more showing on the app

The gym is fine, but the customer service is horrendous. I signed up on Nov 16, 2024. Because I was staying in Honolulu for only 30 days, I've explicitly asked the employee who signed me up when I should cancel my membership to not be charged for the second month. She said to cancel in person before I leave, by Dec 16. When I came to cancel on Dec 15, another employee informed me that I'd be charged for the second month because the billing day was on Dec 10. This is not what I was told when signing up, and if I knew I would've cancelled before Dec 10. I've been calling PF numerous times to ask for a refund because of the misleading information I was given and the fact that I left Honolulu and didn't use the gym after the first month. The manager keeps saying that she needs to talk to her director and will call me tomorrow (she never did). Finally, she gave me a phone number to the director (which always goes to voicemail). It's been a month and nobody cares to fix this situation. Utterly disappointing because I enjoyed my PF experience otherwise but this lack of honesty and respect for customers is the reason to not return ever again.

We had a very positive experience with our swim lessons at the Y, and I am grateful for the time and effort the teachers gave our family. The teachers were very clear and patient and made learning new techniques much easier. It was great to receive tips tailored to my son’s specific needs and skill level. Each lesson had a clear structure and goal, and we had so much fun!

The YMCA and Miss Cindy are amazing! This is our son's first experience in the pool at 6 months and Miss Cindy is so great with him. He is super comfortable in the water and it has been wonderful to learn how to properly introduce him to the water and what specific activities to focus on. We've already signed up for the next session!

We do the parent-tot swim classes for 6 months - 3 year olds. Our son is 17 months and absolutely loves it. The swim instructors are very kind and helpful with technique, especially since the ages are all spread out they are very good and tailoring the task at hand to your child's age and skill level which is something you don't get at a lot of other places.

Went to the 2023 senior wrestling recognition ceremony. It was pretty impressive with the "runway" made up of wrestling mats and the pictures of the seniors on the wall. It was special that they were all introduced and met by their parents after all their hard work. Nice job! Keku still is an impressive building.

I was in Honolulu for a week on vacation. I was looking for a locally owned gym to lift, because I don’t really like the bigger commercial gyms. This place was great. Basic community gym. It's older, so gym is on the smaller side but big enough to play volleyball on 2 courts or a full court basketball game. Gym has 3 to 4 rows of bleachers.
Ron L (Google User)

This is one of a few indoor basketball courts I've been to. Limited hours, but they need a supervisor there at all times. Amenities include: bathrooms, a COLD water fountain (!!), additional meeting rooms which I see being using by a church(?) or just some well-dressed group on Sundays, vending machines, bleachers, and they have extended hours for basketball league play. The courts are odd because you use them sideways, so 4 hoops are available. Bathrooms are pretty dirty. Overall, it's free, so great value, and a great facility for the neighborhood. Parking: the lot outside is limited, especially when there is a baseball game being played, but you can street park along Lanakila Avenue, and also up on North Kuakini St.

Nice facility but not very beginner/intermediate friendly. Nobody wanted to play doubles with us because we were not as good as them. So instead we were given only 10 minutes of court time rotating in playing singles while everyone else played doubles. To a certain degree I understand, but the atmosphere was very unwelcoming, and we were not acknowledged by other players. The experience was not worth the $37 paid to play.
