I am appreciative of any gym that allows non members to drop in. It’s a $20 fee for out of town guests. The gym has everything you need and then some. There are specialty barbells, platforms, weight racks, and cardio machines. They also had Peloton bikes, which you don’t often find in gyms. I loved the aesthetic and layout. They definitely could use more squat racks/platforms though. I was there for 2 hours and throughout that time, there was never not a wait for the racks. Other than that, nice gym!

I just moved to Philly from D.C. and couldn’t have felt more welcome by the staff at City Fitness Fishtown! Josh was amazing and offered a tour of the facilities, which are spacious, clean and well-equipped. Eric at Thrive also was amazing during my first training session.

I’ve been coming here since they first open and I wasn’t a member. My trainer was a member and I would come with him and he trained me and What I liked about the gym that it wasn’t too big but it wasn’t too small and I like the fact that everybody focused on working out, is really not too much socializing and just hanging out with people are actually working out and doing workouts And I never Never had a problem there. Everyone’s respectful and friendly everyone keeps themselves they might bring a gym buddy with them, but everyone usually comes by the self and work out. I was part of the strive training group for about three months, which well I felt I can do everything on my own. Sabrina was my trainer And she was excellent. I did get a chance to work with other trainers there, and they were great too. The trainers are committed and dedicated to their clients. Health is wealth. Stop by and ask for Jack..

I joined City Fitness six years ago and fell in love with the spin classes. During the pandemic, two out of three of my favorite spin instructors left. Still, nothing could stop me from lip syncing to Sam's playlist during a power cycling class or so I thought. After sustaining a knee injury on a run, I decided to try Thrive to strengthen my body. I signed up to do the group personal training sessions twice per week. I didn't want to work out two days in a row, so I scheduled my classes for Wednesay and Friday mornings. The instructor I worked with cancelled three Wednesday sessions in a row and requested I move my sessions to Thursday. Members have to cancel within 12 hours of their scheduled sessions. This instructor cancelled on me with less than two hours notice each time. The last time he cancelled, he sent me a text at 5:23am on a Wednesday morning (37 minutes before my session was scheduled), saying see you tomorrow. When I talked to his manager, Patrick, he communicated I signed a contract, and he couldn't do anything about that, but he would talk to the instructor. He never referred me to his manager. It wasn't until I messaged billing that the head of Thrive (not Patrick) contacted me. I was disappointed with the way the situation was handled and ended my relationship with City Fitness. There are better and more affordable gyms in the area where the trainers show up on time and not hung over.

I did the Thrive class on Tuesday with Will. He put me at ease and listened to my health issues he catered the workout to my abilities and challenged me as we went. He was very congenial and knowledgable explaining what effected what and when we went over my in body scan, he broke down target areas and spoke with me about what's next. He very much gave the sense this wasn't a transaction and that we were building a relationship.
