ICE Athletic Company

ICE has been a life changer for me. There’s a top tier coaching staff, a variety of fun workouts and a group of friends that have become family. At ICE I feel welcomed and challenged every day!

I practice martial arts with a sword and shield made of plastic. It does not even look like real weapons as the color of it is yellow and black. I do a sort of cosplay and I do it out doors. I explained to them that other than coming in and out the premises with it that it would be in the locker and I am only using the gym for lifting and I would only do empty handed karate and stretching in the aerobics room. The shield and plastic sword fit perfectly in the locker where it would be kept. Despite explaining this to them they treated me as if I was crazy and a weirdo and possibly dangerous. I understand that their are kids there and familie but I would think a plastic sword and shield would be the least of their worries. I did feel as if maybe because I am Hispanic that it played a role in this behavior but I don't want to jump to conclusions. I did feel like I was being treated like a criminal just for being different. The old lady even blamed it on her being old fashioned. I explain to her that it's a new world and people cosplay but nothing I said mattered. She said I could go to planet fitness because it's cheaper and she would not want me to waste my money at that gym. I walked into planet fitness with the same sword and shield and they where kind, pleasent and the guy giving me the tour even said that what I was doing was cool. I also attended an LA fitness gym and they had no issues with it either. The guy said that I could even practice my sword karate in the aerobics room and I did at L.A. fitness. Other than that the gym was awesome and since I'm a kid at heart I loved the environment the hockey and family energy. Despite this issue I intend to visit to watch one of their little league games. This gym would have been great had it not been for the closed minded and prejudice staff.

Didn’t take much for me to decide to join after dropping in a few times. The team is very welcoming and great at building workouts that can be adapted for people of all fitness levels. Very happy I found ICE.

Found this gym by dropping in. Great coaches and even better workouts. Good atmosphere for 1st timers or seasoned exercise vets!

Incredible workout, Great coaching and great environment! Definitely will be back or considering a membership!
