I recently had the chance to swim at the YMCA while it's undergoing renovations. While the current construction makes navigating a bit of a challenge (getting from the pool to changing areas, etc.), it didn't detract from the overall experience. The pool itself was lovely, and the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. Everyone I encountered was very welcoming. I'm excited to see the completed renovations and experience the full potential of this YMCA.

Only complaint is the front desk, especially the young staff that work there ,would be more polite. On their phones and if you ask them a question they have a attitude! You are at work get off tik tok. Put the phone down and start saying hello to the customers .

I like going for the pool and facilities however I wish more evening classes were offered for people that work. Most classes are in the morning during the week. Given the price of membership I wish they catered better to working people

Don't waste your money. Especially if you have kids. The pool is always closed. They don't notify you when the pool is closed even when signed up for text messages, social media updates, etc. The playground is closed to camps. Basically a huge waste of money. Update: 10/13/24. Yet again the pool was closed with no notification. Yea they called me last time and said the aquatics director was on vacation. This time they said there was no excuse and would cancel my membership if I'm having issues. I'm not having issues with my membership I'm having issues with the fact that people can not do a job they are paid for. Drive to Carbondale don't waste time with Scranton. Two times in 2 months pool closed with no notification. And I've only tried to go twice in the past 2 months, so I'm guessing it happens more often than they will admit. And all these comments from the YMCA saying they want to hear more about your experience is not true. If you keep bringing up the same unresolved issues they will suggest you cancel your membership.

Did summer camp here as a kid. Camp leaders/adults would yell and berate us for the littlest of things. One violently grabbed my wrist and dragged me to the area where everyone else was (for context, I had anxiety issues at the time.) My biggest disappointment: if any of us broke the littlest rule, they made us play a game called “Dead Fish” where we would have to lay on the floor motionless with no talking or sound for 30 minutes. I have some friends who did the same program (whom I didn’t know at the time) and described the exact same experiences. There are far more better and appropriate summer camps for your kids than this one. If a lawsuit is applicable, expect it on the paper.
