I enjoy this gym but it’s definitely not geared towards the working family/mom. They offer child care hours but only three hours during the morning between 8am and 11am and that really limits a huge group of working moms.

This review is specifically for the swim school. We have seen tremendous improvement in both of our children since starting here at Vanderbilt. They’re learning real skills, having fun, pushing themselves to try harder, and learning to really enjoy themselves (safely) in the water. The instructors are exceptionally well trained and well managed. The facilities are….fine. But you’re not coming here for brand new luxury, you’re coming here because it’s a warm welcoming atmosphere where your kids will learn to swim confidently. For that it gets five stars.

This club is great, the staff is so welcoming & encouraging. I do aerobics with Deb, just amazing. Have met new friends. Joe C got me on the rowing machine. Tomorrow I am trying workout class. All because of the encouragement of staff. A huge thank you!

I have been swimming at the Vanderbilt Club for many, many years. I have lost count! The structure is a canvas bubble; in the summer the top comes off for an open air environment. In the Fall, Winter and Spring, the bubble is on to keep the heat in and the air temperature comfortable. Before 2020, the owner replaced the opaque canvas wall along the parking lot with with a new one with windows and a double door for increased light and ventilation. There is one heating unit in the facility and it is located over the deep end of the pool. There is a fan in the top center - the peak - on the cement wall side that draws and circulates the air. In the winter months, many of the participants wear neoprene to stay warm. We all have different body temperatures and different comfort levels. The pool water and the hot tub water are both tested frequently and often for the communities' safety. All of our Water Instructors are wonderful! We are blessed to have them! Regarding the windows on the parking lot side. Yes; they do slide open. Some people are comfortable having them open and others are not. Since we are a diverse community, body temperature varies from person to person and some are hot and some are cold. Some of the participants wear neoprene and some do not. There could be a draft if one window is open and the others aren't as the air flow could be drawn to that location depending on the temperature outside. I respect all of the members of our community and the different health challenges we all navigate. Communication with the instructors and members of the classes helps meet the goals and needs of all swimmers. The pool is my happy place!
