Gold's Gym Silver Spring

The exercise equipment is in good shape and new but the treadmills are old lacking a lot of functionality. The screens on them aren’t connected to anything so they are just blank. The locker room is small but clean. The most annoying thing is the sauna has been down for maintenance longer than the gym has been open and the showers take fifteen minutes to get warm in the morning then turn into scalding hot infernos. You have about 3 minutes of actual warm water and the handle doesn’t change the temperature at all. Just a lot of problems for a place that is expensive

EDIT: Gold’s loses their five stars for their unprofessionalism. How are you going to let two men who are there to fix amenities in the women’s locker room when women are bare-skinned, undressed? After said woman was done dressing, the female attendant didn’t even double check the bathroom before letting these men into the locker room. It took a while, but the gym is finally open and it’s beautiful inside! There are some little things they need to add to the gym like mirrors in the turf area, and additional lighting in the dumbbell section, workout mats, etc, but those minor things will come with time. The equipment is very nice.

I am reposting my original review. I joined this gym with my partner after they took a while to open. Originally the gym was lacking a hamstring curl machine that they finally got. Members leave weights on equipment frequently. The sauna has been broken for a few weeks. The main reason for the two star review is the fact that our membership dues randomly increased with no explanation. The corporate point of contact did not provide an explanation as to why our membership dues increased but did adjust them back to the original contract. I’m wondering how many people they decided to up charge for no reason that aren’t aware. I suggest you check your monthly statement and your original contract if you are a member of this gym!

I have been looking forward to Golds Gym opening in Silver Spring for quite a long time (over a year). I’m giving it five stars because honestly the gym is great. It has a variety of equipment and lots of space. The only criticism I have is the locker rooms were never updated. They advertised an infrared sauna and premium locker rooms. These are the old locker rooms with a from the old gym. There should be more communication on when these updates will happen or if they are not going to make the updates. I added a picture of their advertising, which currently is very deceptive. Overall, the gym is great.
