WARNING about City Sport Personal Training Services (PRT) - DO NOT sign up for their personal training program. While I am happy with their regular "drop in" gym membership, my experience with their PRT program has revealed systemic issues at every level. After reading other reviews, I realize this isn't an isolated incident but rather a consistent pattern of problematic business practices, and I want to ensure others don't have to experience this. My experience included the following specific issues: 1. Deceptive Sales and Contract: I signed up for a 6-month PRT contract after being assured both verbally by Noel the local PRT Manager and seeing explicitly stated in the contract that "accrued sessions never expire." This was a key factor in purchasing a larger package, as I travel frequently and planned to use my accrued sessions after the 6 months. However, after making all the monthly payments over the six months and only using 50% of my sessions, I was told these sessions would only be available for 30 days after my last payment - directly contradicting both the verbal assurance and contract language. They insisted I would need to keep paying monthly to access sessions I had already paid for. 2. Unresponsive and Unprofessional Management: - The Local PRT manager Noel was highly engaged during the sales process but became unresponsive and unprofessional after I signed up. When I was finally able to track him down, he would promise to "check with his VP" but never follow through. - When I tried to cancel my contract using the corporate contact listed in the contract and get information about how to use my accrued sessions, they took no ownership and would just redirect back to Noel. I spent over a month with multiple emails and got nowhere. - The PRT VP (Christian) who was supposed to handle the escalation was unresponsive - No one took ownership or provided resolution. The only way to cancel the contract was by initiating a dispute through my credit card. 3. Operational Deficiencies: The scheduling system is inadequate for a professional service. While there is an on-line system it is not up to date, and I showed up multiple times for sessions on the schedule but no trainer showed up. Noel's solution requires the client texting trainers the night before - an unreliable system for a service costing hundreds of dollars monthly. The individual trainers demonstrate competence when available, but the documented issues with contracts, management, and operations present significant risks. Consider alternative personal training providers.

Gorgeous, clean facility with every piece of equipment you could ever need. Their PRT Training program is customized to each client, and the trainer's are super friendly. I enjoyed working with Sergio who explained the membership and got me started with a plan that works for me.

The new PRT classes are great. A solid approach to efficient small group workouts. Top notch instruction from expert coaches. Highly recommended. You can tryout different instructors and find out who you appreciate the most.

I'm doing an online bodybuilding program and needed a gym with weights and machines. I tried all gyms in Mountain View and a few nearby. I chose this one and I LOVE it! Very well equipped. Many stations, weights and machines have a few items of the same kind, e.g. three smith machines, two leg press machines, etc. LOTS of cardio machines. Nothing is broken or quickly repaired. The sauna is truly hot and I'm often alone there. They have shower gel, shampoo and conditioner, and lotion. It's very clean and I see cleaners working almost every time I come. And the best part - monthly membership is one of the cheapest. Only one other gym was cheaper, but that gym was so dirty that I feel disgusted even to finish my trial. I usually come between 3-5pm - not crowded. I don't know how crowded it is during peak hours. Can't comment on classes or personal training - I haven't tried.

Gym offers all the basics but don't ask for help from any staff. I rarely ever see them smile much less help anyone. They are owned by LA Fitness - notorious for not paying their employees well. I was shocked when I heard what the group ex instructors and PT staff get paid. Their group ex schedule is so small that they usually have tons of ppl in each class. Only 2 cycle classes that take us a lot of room because no one will teach there for that rate. When you call customer service or corporate you get a gym in Texas or New Jersey. For LA Fitness it is all about saving money and it shows. 2 former members told me they could walk there but they were so sick of the staff and lack of service they now drive to other gyms.
