I attended a Yogalatites class- great heated class- packed to full capacity. I’m not used to the students hollering more like an aerobics class than a yoga class, but only an observation. The teacher was outstanding. Easy and flawless parking.

I gave it a try with 2 weeks new student unlimited pass and overall I liked this studio, yoga is just not my thing. I liked Hot Ra with Jamie most of all. But also I had really bad experience here. Gentle stretch with Brian was the first time in my life when I wanted to leave the class, and I’m taking a lot of different classes. Instead of explaining and correcting us, he was getting so nervous and his comments were like - we all are so stupid and don’t know poses, what he didn’t actually showed us properly. The concept of teaching is explaining and teaching, right?! So instead of relaxing atmosphere what supposed to be at yoga studio, it was tense there in the air. Now I understand why at the begging of the class he said “nobody here had my class before right” , because I can’t imagine anybody willing to come back to this class. At the end I’m giving 5 stars, because they reached me out and I appreciate how they do care about students and our experience! Thank you!

My review is pretty much for both the costa mesa and newport location: -The instructors are amazing. They write interesting classes, are friendly, and have good music. Stephanie R, Madison, & Huma were my recent instructors that were memorable. - Locker rooms are nice. -There's a great selection of activewear & accessories in the lobby -I like all the membership options. -The parking situation is terrible and needs to be addressed. Here's a few suggestions to the owner: more time between classes, buy spaces from the greedy neighbor tenants, encourage student to get in their cars and leave immediately after class. Arriving early does not matter. I have been late to class a few times due to no parking. The parking at Newport is terrible but more manageable. - When class is full you are very close together. Like a couple inches from the other mats. -Front staff could be friendlier.

RA Yoga has great class options + instructors, you’ll get a workout! Where I felt it wasn’t the best was how you are welcomed. First time going I wasn’t told a room number so I entered the wrong class. The studio has multiple rooms. The confusing part is there are no room numbers, rooms seem to be labeled by a word. I may have missed the numbers on the door/wall, nonetheless not a great start to a practice when you enter the wrong room. The other part is classes are packed, you may get 2 inches between each other which can be challenging when practicing. Air flow isn’t great either, stale and stuffy smell during classes. The instructors do open the door occasionally during class which helps.

I’ve enjoyed coming to Ra Yoga for over a year now, and was the place I felt most comfortable when learning and practicing for the first time. I’ve enjoyed all the instructors, and like that they all have their personal style. Classes I’ve enjoyed the most: Vinyasa Level 1- Isa Isa is amazing. And if there’s only one class I can make it to, I make sure it’s the Tuesdays at 8pm. Definitely look forward to it when I start the week. Her flows are just challenging enough, where you can still focus on breathing and bettering your form. She also makes it very open to make any modifications you need, and maintains a nice pace throughout the class. She’s very engaging, and encourages you to set an intention for your practice and find something you’re grateful for at the end. I’m always in a good place during savasana. Yin RaStore- Chelsea My boyfriend and I enjoy coming together on Monday night’s to Chelsea’s class. Even for a restorative yoga class, it can be challenging if you’re stiff in some areas but it’s very intentional time to practice opening it up and maintaining mobility in those parts. Chelsea is always so positive, and provides multiple ways to relax into a posture. She’ll even take time to explain the reason why we’re doing certain poses, and what you should do outside of class for long-term self-care (like toe-stand, or reverse into an ankle stretch). She has a relaxing voice, and even with loud music bumping from the next room over, we’re still able to find a meditative state by the end. Other shout outs- though I’m not able to go as often as I used to: Vinyasa level 1 or Meditation - Shelby I had done a meditation workshop with Shelby, and it was such an amazing experience. She really speaks to the heart when you’re in one of her classes, and encourages you to set an intention and be kind to yourself. Her vinyasa classes can be challenging, but in a good way. If I’m able to, I like to take her meditation classes before Yin Rastore too. Always has a very sweet and positive presence. Hot Ra- Stephanie Stephanie is great, and there’s a reason why her classes are always full. I like that there’s always a mix of new to yoga or seasoned ones in her class, as she’s able to offer guidance to both. She’ll make adjustments if needed, and always keeps a good pace. Hot Ra is great because it’s the same poses every time, so you know what to expect going in. The heat gets better with time, and it affects us all different ways (so don’t get discouraged if you’re sweating the most you ever have and someone else complains it wasn’t even hot). If you do the class consistently, you’ll be encouraged by the progress you make because you’re able to directly compare how you did. Like how you’re able to get deeper into poses, better balance, or overall stamina throughout. Lastly, Ra Yoga is a great spot to practice. The employees are nice, the place is clean and maintained, and have great instructors. My only complaint would be the parking, though that is just out of their control. Just make sure you give yourself enough time to find parking.
