I’ve been going to crunch since opening day, and don’t plan on going elsewhere. It’s the gym I recommend to anyone who’s working out at a PF, or looking for more variety in their training. I’ve always liked that they not only have all the free weights, and machines you need, but they also places for cardio, HIIT and stretching. My biggest complaint is machine maintenance, and crowding (which I believe will be resolved with their new expansion). Although most of the machines work consistently, there are always a couple broken cables. I do blame the users rather than the gym, but with cables being the most versatile equipment in the gym, it’s annoying when I have to check if the open cable is actually working; stuck in place, stuck at a weight or doesn’t move smoothly. I understand maintaining equipment with as many members as they have is difficult, but it would be nice to have things fixed in a timely manner. And to touch on crowding: I’m someone who wants to do my workout and leave. I have found if you go during the day, or in the evening you can just about count on having to wait for the machine, bench, squat rack, weight, or space to workout. Because of this I go either early in the morning or late at night. As I had said previously, I do believe that their expansion will help a lot with the crowding and I look forward to its opening. Lastly the staff: In my time there I have seen many employees and trainers come and go. I have never had any issues with their staffing and I believe they all do a great job. P.s. shout out to the good lighting and the gym buddies I’ve made there!

A great gym, but they took all mymoney. It's impossible to cancel. They took my last $16, over drafted my account, and I still can't cancel because I just moved and have no mail yet to prove my address. I have no car, so I can't go back in person. I have no more money, so I can't pay my bank to manually stop the charges. Scandulous, if you ever want to stop paying them and can't show up in person.

TLDR: Great gym, busy during peak times, easy cancelation. 10/10 would recommend Loved working out here, great atmosphere, amazing equipment, employees don't bother you much. You scan in and they don't pay you any attention unless you have questions, comments, or concerns for them to listen to. (Which I love, I just want to exercise and go home.) Since it's located within a college town being right next to Michigan State university it obviously will have quite a large amount of people being there from time to time. Which is completely fine, I don't understand peoples incandescent complaints about it being "too crowded". It's quite literally the best public gym around MSU, of course it will be crowded at peak times, some people have zero critical thinking when it comes to understanding that and it's laughably appalling. I unfortunately had to cancel my membership as I was planning on moving to a whole different part of the state, and comparably to other gyms I've had the misfortune of being a member of (planet fitness [awful]🤮🤢🤮 and powerhouse gym) the cancelation process was extremely easy. I just showed up asked to cancel, they asked why. I simply told them I was moving, they offered to transfer me to the ann arbor location, I declined and that was it. No fees, no hassle, just easy and straightforward. I would absolutely love to begin my membership again since I didnt end up moving just commuting to work instead, especially now that there has been a massive expansion I've heard about, but being a father with a full time job doesn't leave me with ample time to get a complete stretch, workout, cardio, and cool down completed. I'd love to check out the new expansions and maybe that would motivate me to not have excuses and just reactivate my membership, small at home excersises with a 2 year old terrorizing me can only get me so far lol.

I joined Crunch Fitness under the Peak Results plan because it was advertised as “Month-to-Month No Commitment.” Unfortunately, after signing up, I discovered hidden terms that contradicted this claim. For example, I was charged an annual fee that I couldn’t avoid even if I canceled before the first 12 months were up. This was never clearly stated on the sign-up page, and the fine print was buried in the membership agreement, which only appeared after I had provided my payment information. When I tried to cancel, I encountered significant challenges. Crunch Fitness has made the cancellation process unnecessarily difficult, and based on other reviews here, I’m not the only one with this experience. Additionally, the advertised “free month” is misleading because it seems tied to terms that lock you into payments you can’t easily get out of. It’s incredibly frustrating that a gym advertising “no commitment” actually enforces terms that make cancellation feel like a commitment. While the gym facilities might be fine for some, the lack of transparency and honesty in their advertising is a major red flag. I encourage anyone considering Crunch Fitness to read all the fine print carefully and be fully aware of the hidden fees and challenges you may face.

The employees are scammers and will purposely leave out information to take your money. I called to cancel my membership a month ago and they told me it can’t be done over the phone. I go in person last week they tell me there’s no manager there. I go and finally cancel it today and they tell me that there’s a 10 day cancellation notification and I’m gonna have to pay another month before it is canceled. They also increased my rates without asking me and said it was because my contract ended. Why would you not just put it on pause if my contract ends instead of increasing my rate from 10 dollars a month to 18. I explained that I tried to cancel the month before and the same person I talked too was there and she asked if I had any proof.

Gym is great with equipment but I don't know how anyone gets a good workout in this place. Constantly having to wait for equipment while people sit on them for 15 20 minutes at a time scrolling their phones or switching between multiple pieces of equipment. I've tried going anytime from 7-3 during the day and it is constantly like that. Great gym in you plan on working out between 3am-6am.

Been going to this Powerhouse for just under three years now. A great environment with their workers, especially Katie as she has helped me on multiple occasions. All around a perfect gym, from the equipment to the overall cleanliness of this location.

Powerhouse EL was my second home when I was at MSU! Not only do they have all of the equipment a girl could need, but the locker rooms are always so clean. Don't even get me started on the staff-- Emma and Jaycee were two of the front desk workers who greeted me EVERY SINGLE MORNING. The culture at this gym is welcoming, fun, and encouraging, I recommend it to everyone.

Easily my favorite gym in East Lansing! The atmosphere is very welcoming and I’ve never had any issues there. There’s plenty of space in the gym so I never felt too close to anyone, and it has all the equipment and necessities for any and all fitness pursuits. When I first visited, Megan showed me around and was very supportive and energetic. If you’re looking for a good gym to call home, this would be my first recommendation.

Powerhouse is the best gym on campus! Especially because of their great employees like Katie! Someone should definitely give her a huge raise she’s the best employee there.

Not a ton of machines. Also when i signed up, there was the $1 activation free ad that i saw. when i went into sign up, the manager didn’t explain the plans at all or give any details. I thought it was just a month to month membership that could be cancelled but now when i call to cancel, they tell me that im locked in till september unless i wanted to pay a fee. this is really bad business and should be explained when signing up. there was no mention of the other plans and the guy seemed to just hand us the papers and smile and not share any info. i feel like i got looped into this when its a small gym for the area. BAD BUSINESS PRACTICE

It gets the job done. The owners are nice, but a lot of the equipment is often broken or flimsy. Mid and small gym, but has most all the basics.

Nick (the owner) is a good dude! Nice equipment, clean, nice clientele.

I was a member here for 3ish years while I was a broke college student. Overall it was a great experience. The gym was always clean and usually there was never a line for any of the equipment. They have everything you might need here regarding free weights and machines. Plenty of cardio equipment (even a row machine) as well. The owner is very friendly and understanding. I had issues with my card declining occasionally and as a result sometimes my payments were pretty late, the owner seemed to get that I was pretty broke and never charged any additional fees. Gyms can be really hard to cancel sometimes and I just had to cancel my membership since I am moving away from the area. I cancelled after getting charged for the upcoming month and the owner didn't charge me. If you are in the area I'd highly recommend this gym.

Safe, clean, well outfitted with a great manager/owner! I've been coming to this gym for over 8 years, working out with Nick as my personal trainer and HIGHLY recommend. As a woman, I especially appreciate that Nick upkeeps standards of safety and collegiality towards other gym-goers. People of all ages and body types use this gym and experience the positivity Nick brings!

An excellent gym!! The energy is amazing and the coaches really care, you won’t regret trying it out. The community is so supportive and makes me love spending time at the gym.

Best gym in East Lansing! The workouts are fun & effective, I always look forward to working out at OTF. Friendly, welcoming & encouraging community!

Overall everything about OTF is great. Frankly, Liz almost singlehandedly has the energy and care that makes this spot amazing. If anyone from OTF reads this... You need to give her a raise, time off, or both. I wouldn't even have signed up without her killer attitude and energy. I dock one star because their whole system is derived around buying their bands to see your effort on screen. You'll do a free class or two, sign up... The suddenly realize you don't have a band. Gotta buy that extra. $100+. Got a watch that broadcasts HR? Too bad. Can't use it. Overall I'm a fan and have no alternative that rivals. I do admit the scheduling shown in the mobile app can leave a lot to be desired.

Love this location! The front desk staff makes you feel so welcome. My friends tried this location out with me for their first class and can’t stop raving about it. Great for all fitness levels. The trainer Paul was so encouraging! Would definitely stop back here whenever I’m town.

Had to stop in even though I’m on vacation because I Never Miss A Monday! Coach Flex whooped my butt and pushed me past my redline in the most energetic and fun OTF class I’ve had in a long time. Great spacious studio. Wonderful front desk staff! Will be back next time I’m in town.
