I recently had the pleasure of experiencing exceptional customer service when I thought I had lost a valuable item of clothing at This YMCA. The staff member Marisa went above and beyond to help me locate my lost item, searching high and low until it was finally found tucked away in a corner. I was impressed by Her dedication and kindness throughout the entire process. She was patient and understanding, making sure to keep me updated every step of the way. Their professionalism and willingness to assist me in finding my lost item truly made a lasting impression on me. Thanks to their efforts, I was able to retrieve my lost item and leave the Y feeling grateful and satisfied. I find it incredibly rare to find this amount of dedication and perseverance from someone and wanted nothing in return. I can not be any more thankful for Marisa and All of the other staff members.

I have been a member here for a few years and the last few months I have watched the building go down hill. The men's locker room showers are beyond disgusting filled with bugs and mold and I have mentioned this to the front desk numberous times. I have also witnessed a bald black man who I think is from the corporate office speak down on the women at the front desk on multiple occasions now. He walks around like he owns the building with a meanmug on his face and treats the female staff as if they are beneath him. When he comes around I can tell the ladies feel uncomfortable and the whole atmosphere changes. Whoever that guy is hopefully he doesn't stick around for to long.

The absolute cleanest, modernized, friendliest, & welcoming Y I have ever had a membership at! A wonderful family environment with plenty to do for everyone (infant-senior).

I like how huge and modern the facility is. I also like that they have a variety of classes. However it's never really clean especially in the gymnastics room and dance room they use for the toddlers. My toddlers feet and socks are always filthy after her classes. The bathrooms are never really clean & fresh either. I definitely feel it's room for a lot of improvement when it comes to the cleanliness. Most of the employees are friendly but there are some who don't want African Americans there. They give fake smiles and are very passive aggressive. Give off the vibes that you're not wanted there. Months ago I was trying to enroll my toddler in preschool. Marissa told me not to feel bad about all of the spots being filled at this location. She stated they didn't have license teachers and they children don't learn anything. She suggested my child would be better off at the Griffith location and they have licensed teachers. I kinda felt something wasn't right but tried to give her the benefit of the doubt. Another young lady helped me enroll my daughter in the preschool in Griffith but didn't give me any of the information I needed. It was about a week or two later I stopped by the front desk and I was talking to one of the ladies at the front desk. I informed her of everything Marissa said and how I wasn't given the information I needed for my daughter to start preschool. The woman looked so confused and informed me that Marissa had lied to me about the preschool and she didn't understand why. She told me to reach out to the director over the children's preschool. I emailed Christina Davidson-Kurec over a month ago about what had happened and she never responded to my email. It gave me confirmation on everything I had felt in my spirit.

We signed up our 9 month old son for the November 0-2yo Saturday 9:45-10:15 swim lessons. This was his first time doing swim lessons. The first class (Nov 2nd) my husband takes our son into the pool. The swim instructor, Cassie, tells my husband that our son can not come into the class because he has on a swim diaper. Mind out he has on a disposable swim diaper underneath. It was not a cloth diaper. I asked to speak to someone. She tells me to speak to the aquatics director who is in the middle of a swim lesson but I had no choice I didn’t know who else speak to (it wasn’t his fault was not able to deal with the situation right then) He gets another lifeguards attention who tells me that our son is allowed to wear his swim diaper and this shouldn’t happen again. Half way into the class she tells my husband we are in the wrong class. We had to check in with a guy at the entrance to the pool to make sure we were in-fact in the correct class BEFORE the class even started. So when I showed her on my phone that we were in the correct class she just giggled and said “my bad”. So she has tried to kick us out of our sons first swim lesson 2x. She wasted half of the class trying to kick us out. Not only did she waste our sons lesson time but also the other children’s time. Then come today (Nov 9th) his second swim lesson. Before I even got all the way into the pool she said again that our son was not allowed to wear his swim diaper. I told her that they said it was okay last week. She started to argue with me, then tells “I’ll let it slide this week but next week he needs swim trunks” there is no difference between my son wearing a reusable swim diaper over a disposable one vs a little girl wearing bikini bottoms. While I’m still half way out of the water she tells me that we are in the wrong class AGAIN! I told her that we were not in the wrong class and we went over this last week. She tried to argue with me about that’s not what’s on her schedule. There was literally another baby in the class who she didn’t say anything to! When I asked to speak to someone again she pointed us into the direction of the aquatics director, Jeremy. When I told him what was going on he said that our sons swim diaper was allowed! And that we are in the correct class! He offered for us to just continue with the class and be refunded for the classes or choose a different time. We choose to just leave and we will be doing a different time. We appreciate Jeremy resolving the situation. I don’t appreciate Cassie trying to kick us out of 2 classes 4x! I don’t understand why choose to pick on us but I definitely feel like her behavior was unacceptable.

Wow! Very nice YMCA with upwards of a hundred cardiovascular machines and vast amount of fitness equipment from a couple different manufacturers. Large free weight area with a couple platforms surrounded by a lengthy indoor track. Huge aquatic center with both indoor and outdoor opportunities including indoor kids park. Two large gymnasiums with various activities. Gymnastics center under renovation, but looks to be a great one. A couple different studios along with a shake bar. Steam room, sauna and wonderful locker rooms. Endless opportunities at the impressive YMCA.

Great facility lots to do! Very friendly especially Ann at the front desk! She is So Welcoming every morning and deserves a raise. A friendly person like her is hard to come by. Clean facility with great amenities for the family. Love to get a good workout in and enjoy the sauna. Our children have enjoyed trying many programs such as swim classes, soccer dance and ninja classes, and both of our kids have used the preschool programs. Mrs Sarah was the best teacher both our children had! Mary is awesome at the yoga classes and is super friendly and welcoming ! Ray is an awesome instructor during cycling classes he makes it challenging but fun definitely recommend his classes for beginners and those who like a mixup my favorite cycle instructor thus far . We have enjoyed using the facility for birthday parties as well which have been nice. There have been a few issues with the parties on communication and not enough food being ordered to one of our outside pool part area not being cleaned before one of the parties before we have had multiple issues I feel because possibly that staff is always rotating with young workers so that department could use better oversite but other than that we love going there and using the amenities to the fullest!

I have been up tossing and turning all night due to having one of the most embarrassing moments of my life. As a resident of Winfield, this is the only YMCA within close range to me, so this is the facility I choose to frequent. However, after being a member for nearly three months I always felt it would be just a matter of time before I experienced my “Karen” moment. Therefore, to avoid having such a moment, I tried to follow the rules, focus on my purpose for being there while being respectful and kind to everyone. I guess no matter how hard you try individuals who don’t want you in their space or don’t feel you are worthy to be in their space will always find a way to wreak havoc on your life. If enjoy working out, and try to visit this Y at least three times a week. I especially love the “E gym” as I have found this to be the only program to keep me motivated to exercise. I love being able to stay within the lines and see the orange dots disappear within a minutes time. I feel I accomplished my goal after completing my ONE minute, which is why I am a huge fan of this program. It’s a quick fix and I’m done! However, I am not a routine person. Some days i don’t want to start my workout with my arms. If there is an open machine, I may choose to use that machine to complete that ONE minute exercise, as I attempted to do yesterday. I saw a leg machine available for use, so I went to the machine to use it. The lady on the machine in front of me was in the middle of her workout on her machine. When her program ended she noticed that I was using the machine that she wanted to use next. She then tells a man, who I assume to be her husband, that I “cut” in front her. The man confronts me and stated “I can’t cut. I have to start at the beginning.” I tried to explain that I did not want to start at the beginning and that the machine was open for use. The woman and the man became irate at my response and angrily questioned my training on the program. I informed them that I was trained on the equipment but nothing was set in stone as to the order In which I was to do the program. The man insisted on dragging the conversation out, as he stated several times “unbelievable.” It amazes me how they turned, what i thought was a conversation, into an argument. They both kept loudly saying “I’m not going to argue” so other members and staff members could hear the conversation. I attempted several times to try to get my ONE minute workout in, but I was so distracted that I couldn’t complete it. The distraction and going back and forth with this couple only prolonged my minute I intended to use. The couple then have their “Karen” moment. They tell a staff member to explain to me the flow of the rotation. The staff member yells out that I am supposed to rotate. I questioned the staff member by asking where I could find the information regarding which machine I had to use first. During this entire time, everyone was looking at me as if I had the plague. I heard other members approach the couple and ask “did she cut in front of you?” I heard the couple angrily explaining to them that I “cut” the line. I ended up getting off of the machine because I didn’t want to stop the other members from using the equipment due to me having already wasted three minutes. I attempted to go to another open machine and noticed a group of people looking at me. The lady of the group (Karen, real name) approached me, introduced herself as the manager and asked if I wanted to talk to management about something. I replied “no, I didn’t ask to speak with anyone: I stated that maybe the couple wanted to talk to her, but I did not request to see anyone. As I am talking to Karen I see the couple, along with everyone else in the area looking on. I felt that I was being chastised by Karen and made to be seen as troublesome due to her approach. After my conversation with Karen I had the most eerie feeling. A feeling of tension and uncomfortableness. I saw the whispers and the stares. At that point I decided to leave the facility.
