The facility itself is adequate. It seems to be regularly cleaned at least. It's smaller than other San Diego Y's and doesn't offer all the amenities of the larger Y's but at a basic level it does the job. However, I have to agree with other reviewers of this Y, the customer service (entry & front desk) in the mornings is awful. They are not helpful at all and quite often the employees in these areas, their attitudes border on arrogance. I find it to be truly comical. They lack knowledge about the YMCA's published policies & shouldn't be in a customer contact position at all. Additionally, Jackie Robinson Y, seems to have as many days when its closed or "closing early" as to days when it's fully open. But its one of the cheaper Y's in San Diego and you get what you pay for. On several occasions I've seen little girls who I assume are kindergarten or 1st, 2nd graders, inside the male locker room with their dad's, I guess. I've seen this not only at this Y but others in the area. There are signs asking men not to bring opposite sex small children into the male locker room. Strange they don't already know NOT to do this.

Worst customer service ever. They have an issue that they need to close the pool for around 2 weeks. I only pay my membership for my kids using the pool but we have to stop using that because of their issue. I asked to extend or refund my membership for those 2 weeks. Then they said they cannot do that. That meant I lost money for my 2 weeks family membership. It's so stupid, doesn't make sense to me. Why they could do that . I paid my membership for a month but can use only half month. Super stupid customer service. No more membership here.....

They are amazing! We have been stuck at home with flood damages and horrible mold smells when my apartments were not able to provide us with shelter but everyone else that was in the flood got hotel rooms and whatever reason they have we didnt get one … YMCA , they were able to provide us with a hotel and other resources. When i gave up they came to me like an angel 💜 our family really appreciate’s everything they are doing for us !

Spectacular state of the art facility with as many machines, weights, and classes as you could possibly need. The facility was very well maintained and the young man at the front desk was courteous toward us visiting from out of town. Our YMCA membership was easily found and accepted...we are thankful for the great customer service he provided. Highly recommend this YMCA if in San Diego!

Avoid this YMCA. Get your monthly membership elsewhere. Copley-Price Family YMCA is very poorly managed. You never see any leadership mixing with members, it seems they are too busy in their offices. Overall, there is absolutely no respect for the Customer Experience, the facility is filthy, smells, and staff are a joke. 1. They are replacing 20-30 year equipment, closing the fitness area FOR THREE DAYS!!!! Any other facility would complete the task overnight, but not the Y. They would rather inconvenience paying members for THREE DAYS. It's absolutely outrageous!!! (See picture) 2. Management closes the popular Meditation Room regularly for staff events when the Community Room, the Coffee Bar area, and other rooms are available. Management would rather inconvenient paying members than manage the facility correctly. (See picture of recent event) 3. Front Desk staff 4-6 individuals at any given time are on their cell phones, gossiping, slouching in their chairs daily. No, Hello, no goodbye, nothing!!! 4. Fitness Floor staff are a pathetic. They are always behind the desk staring at the computer. You ask for assistance and they act like they are being bothered. Some of them couldn't save you in the event of an emergency. For example, Eza walks around pretending to count people, his clothes don't fit, he bends over, and you see his arse, etc. Other floor staff are similar in their overall presentation. 5. The facility is filthy, dust everywhere, bathroom stained toilets, takes weeks for repairs of equipment and restroom facilities. Management has ONE outsourced facility hygiene individual for the ENTIRE FACILITY!!!! Absolutely no YMCA staff cleans or tidys up the facility. Just completely uncalled for. 6. 70-80% of staff are not Health or Fitness focused, most would be considered obese. So much for leading by example. Bottome line, I have never seen any manager visible or interacting randomly with members. No name badges, no information center with pictures outlining Management for Members to review. Just because this YMCA is in an socially and economically disadvantage area doesn't mean the Customer Experience should reflect such. Avoid this YMCA. Get your monthly membership elsewhere.

This location is awesome. The staff is very cool. I have been to all the locations, and this one is by far the cleanest. I used to complain about all the high school kids running around, but after seeing them acting more respectfully, I'm glad they are at the gym. A lot of kids are less fortunate to have such a great place to enjoy and do healthy activities rather than our on the streets doing drugs. They also just got all brand new cardio machines that are way better than any I've seen at other gyms. Love this place🤟

I never write pointed reviews, but I felt compelled to after seeing the last review by NATIVE SD posted with 1 star. Clearly, this man has WAY too much time on his hands to be complaining THIS much about a gym. Who complains about a gym replacing all cardio equipment? Like, you literally cannot please people LOL. I for one appreciate when I see my membership dollars being spent on renovations! This location is huge. Bright, airy, both indoor and outdoor work areas with some duplicates of machines, makes for easy access and minimal wait times. Other locations (looking at you, MV, are dark, dirty, and feel like you're in a dungeon). Here, they supply freshly laundered towels always, have full sanitizer bottles, and I always see someone cleaning the floors or windows when I am there. The staff has always been very helpful and kind to me whenever I need something; usually for messing up my locker combo .__. Calling these people "not health focused" and "pathetic" as NATIVE SD did is...a choice. Maybe a bit of projection happening there, who knows! The comment about the bathrooms being under repair, there are literally SEVERAL bathroom locations including locker room, downstairs near the coffee shop, outside facility area, AND near the pools. You will find a bathroom if one is OOO, I have faith! Anyway, love this gym and the vibes, keep up the good work and take all the time you need for new renovations ;)

Update: 10/9/24 I cancelled my membership at Copley and they never did it and keep charging me. I signed the application 3 weeks ago. No one cancelled my membership, no one contacted me about any problems with cancellation. I just found a new charge at the start of the month. I still haven't received my return. I am very upset with YMCA work, since there are no complaints about the gym itself, but the management of the organization is very bad. The employees do what they want and no one is responsible for anything. And when I asked to call the manager, they just brought me another employee who does not decide anything. As a long-time YMCA member, I'm usually very satisfied with the helpful and accommodating staff. However, I had a disappointing experience recently with an employee named Kal. When I requested assistance with parking my scooter, Kal seemed unwilling to help and instead complained to other workers about my request. It took several asks before he finally brought over a manager, who was able to quickly resolve the issue. Kal's passive-aggressive attitude made me feel uncomfortable. I hope the administration will use this feedback to provide additional customer service training to ensure all members receive the same high level of service I've come to expect from the YMCA.

The worst experience I've had with a YMCA. I've been a nationwide member since elementary school, but this one is by far the worst. They are literally incompetent and lack comprehension. Buyers & scholarship holders beware. They have charged my card about $200 over the last two months. I communicated with multiple people to ensure my card wouldn't get charged & a pause was issued. Despite my card rejecting the payments, my bank tells me they continue to run the card multiple times until a payment goes through. They harassed me, claiming I owed them a payment, only to later admit, "Oh, it was a mistake, you did pay..." Yet, they can't communicate when they decide to start charging my card $100 a month? This is insane. Finally put a stop payment on my card for this establishment. Start your membership at a different YMCA!
