It is a beautiful area but why did they forget this area we are sitting on dirt watching our children play baseball theres bleachers in 3 spots but the fourth area is all dirt 🤔🥺🥺🥺

The facility itself is adequate. It seems to be regularly cleaned at least. It's smaller than other San Diego Y's and doesn't offer all the amenities of the larger Y's but at a basic level it does the job. However, I have to agree with other reviewers of this Y, the customer service (entry & front desk) in the mornings is awful. They are not helpful at all and quite often the employees in these areas, their attitudes border on arrogance. I find it to be truly comical. They lack knowledge about the YMCA's published policies & shouldn't be in a customer contact position at all. Additionally, Jackie Robinson Y, seems to have as many days when its closed or "closing early" as to days when it's fully open. But its one of the cheaper Y's in San Diego and you get what you pay for. On several occasions I've seen little girls who I assume are kindergarten or 1st, 2nd graders, inside the male locker room with their dad's, I guess. I've seen this not only at this Y but others in the area. There are signs asking men not to bring opposite sex small children into the male locker room. Strange they don't already know NOT to do this.

Worst customer service ever. They have an issue that they need to close the pool for around 2 weeks. I only pay my membership for my kids using the pool but we have to stop using that because of their issue. I asked to extend or refund my membership for those 2 weeks. Then they said they cannot do that. That meant I lost money for my 2 weeks family membership. It's so stupid, doesn't make sense to me. Why they could do that . I paid my membership for a month but can use only half month. Super stupid customer service. No more membership here.....

They are amazing! We have been stuck at home with flood damages and horrible mold smells when my apartments were not able to provide us with shelter but everyone else that was in the flood got hotel rooms and whatever reason they have we didnt get one … YMCA , they were able to provide us with a hotel and other resources. When i gave up they came to me like an angel 💜 our family really appreciate’s everything they are doing for us !

Spectacular state of the art facility with as many machines, weights, and classes as you could possibly need. The facility was very well maintained and the young man at the front desk was courteous toward us visiting from out of town. Our YMCA membership was easily found and accepted...we are thankful for the great customer service he provided. Highly recommend this YMCA if in San Diego!

I love this studio! I can walk there and the staff is so kind! The only thing is the rooms always seem to be way hotter than other studios. I can do HPF at another studio and it feels great but when I do it at NP, I always end up feeling like I’m going to pass out. I don’t know if they do the temperatures different or if it’s just me. I’d love to be able to come to this studio more often!

The North Park Studio is wonderful, the staff and the classes are great! I have attended the HY1, Hot Fusion Yoga and the Restorative Class (which was a double class with HY1) and I LOVED IT!! I wished my schedule permitted me to go weekly but it doesn't, but when I have FRI's off I will definitely be attending HY1 & the Restorative class again!

When considering a yoga studio, ambiance and facility quality significantly impact the experience. Core Power Yoga, unfortunately, falls short in these aspects. The studio's state of disrepair and an unmistakable smell of mold or mildew are immediate red flags for anyone seeking a clean, serene environment for their practice. Moreover, it appears that Core Power Yoga's corporate oversight is lacking, particularly concerning the support and maintenance of their studios. This is especially concerning given the high membership fees charged, which one would expect to contribute towards a well-maintained and functioning facility. Several visits to different locations have revealed a pattern of neglect, including lack of hot water in showers and issues with heating systems that compromise the quality of hot yoga classes — a core offering that should never be compromised. Such inconsistencies not only detract from the overall experience but also raise questions about the value for money and the brand's commitment to providing a premium service. Given these experiences, it's challenging to recommend Core Power Yoga. While the quality of yoga instruction may still be high, the physical conditions and operational oversights are significant drawbacks. Prospective members are advised to consider these factors carefully and perhaps look into other studios that prioritize both the quality of their classes and the condition of their facilities.

Love Heidi's HPF class! Heat was perfect, great energy. All around very friendly positive uplifting community. Namaste, thank you!

Didn’t make it to class due to inability to find parking. I couldn’t find anything on their website site that mentions where to park and had to read the reviews. Pretty frustrating to come early and spend 20 mins to find parking and not make it in

Avoid this YMCA. Get your monthly membership elsewhere. Copley-Price Family YMCA is very poorly managed. You never see any leadership mixing with members, it seems they are too busy in their offices. Overall, there is absolutely no respect for the Customer Experience, the facility is filthy, smells, and staff are a joke. 1. They are replacing 20-30 year equipment, closing the fitness area FOR THREE DAYS!!!! Any other facility would complete the task overnight, but not the Y. They would rather inconvenience paying members for THREE DAYS. It's absolutely outrageous!!! (See picture) 2. Management closes the popular Meditation Room regularly for staff events when the Community Room, the Coffee Bar area, and other rooms are available. Management would rather inconvenient paying members than manage the facility correctly. (See picture of recent event) 3. Front Desk staff 4-6 individuals at any given time are on their cell phones, gossiping, slouching in their chairs daily. No, Hello, no goodbye, nothing!!! 4. Fitness Floor staff are a pathetic. They are always behind the desk staring at the computer. You ask for assistance and they act like they are being bothered. Some of them couldn't save you in the event of an emergency. For example, Eza walks around pretending to count people, his clothes don't fit, he bends over, and you see his arse, etc. Other floor staff are similar in their overall presentation. 5. The facility is filthy, dust everywhere, bathroom stained toilets, takes weeks for repairs of equipment and restroom facilities. Management has ONE outsourced facility hygiene individual for the ENTIRE FACILITY!!!! Absolutely no YMCA staff cleans or tidys up the facility. Just completely uncalled for. 6. 70-80% of staff are not Health or Fitness focused, most would be considered obese. So much for leading by example. Bottome line, I have never seen any manager visible or interacting randomly with members. No name badges, no information center with pictures outlining Management for Members to review. Just because this YMCA is in an socially and economically disadvantage area doesn't mean the Customer Experience should reflect such. Avoid this YMCA. Get your monthly membership elsewhere.

This location is awesome. The staff is very cool. I have been to all the locations, and this one is by far the cleanest. I used to complain about all the high school kids running around, but after seeing them acting more respectfully, I'm glad they are at the gym. A lot of kids are less fortunate to have such a great place to enjoy and do healthy activities rather than our on the streets doing drugs. They also just got all brand new cardio machines that are way better than any I've seen at other gyms. Love this place🤟

I never write pointed reviews, but I felt compelled to after seeing the last review by NATIVE SD posted with 1 star. Clearly, this man has WAY too much time on his hands to be complaining THIS much about a gym. Who complains about a gym replacing all cardio equipment? Like, you literally cannot please people LOL. I for one appreciate when I see my membership dollars being spent on renovations! This location is huge. Bright, airy, both indoor and outdoor work areas with some duplicates of machines, makes for easy access and minimal wait times. Other locations (looking at you, MV, are dark, dirty, and feel like you're in a dungeon). Here, they supply freshly laundered towels always, have full sanitizer bottles, and I always see someone cleaning the floors or windows when I am there. The staff has always been very helpful and kind to me whenever I need something; usually for messing up my locker combo .__. Calling these people "not health focused" and "pathetic" as NATIVE SD did is...a choice. Maybe a bit of projection happening there, who knows! The comment about the bathrooms being under repair, there are literally SEVERAL bathroom locations including locker room, downstairs near the coffee shop, outside facility area, AND near the pools. You will find a bathroom if one is OOO, I have faith! Anyway, love this gym and the vibes, keep up the good work and take all the time you need for new renovations ;)

Update: 10/9/24 I cancelled my membership at Copley and they never did it and keep charging me. I signed the application 3 weeks ago. No one cancelled my membership, no one contacted me about any problems with cancellation. I just found a new charge at the start of the month. I still haven't received my return. I am very upset with YMCA work, since there are no complaints about the gym itself, but the management of the organization is very bad. The employees do what they want and no one is responsible for anything. And when I asked to call the manager, they just brought me another employee who does not decide anything. As a long-time YMCA member, I'm usually very satisfied with the helpful and accommodating staff. However, I had a disappointing experience recently with an employee named Kal. When I requested assistance with parking my scooter, Kal seemed unwilling to help and instead complained to other workers about my request. It took several asks before he finally brought over a manager, who was able to quickly resolve the issue. Kal's passive-aggressive attitude made me feel uncomfortable. I hope the administration will use this feedback to provide additional customer service training to ensure all members receive the same high level of service I've come to expect from the YMCA.

The worst experience I've had with a YMCA. I've been a nationwide member since elementary school, but this one is by far the worst. They are literally incompetent and lack comprehension. Buyers & scholarship holders beware. They have charged my card about $200 over the last two months. I communicated with multiple people to ensure my card wouldn't get charged & a pause was issued. Despite my card rejecting the payments, my bank tells me they continue to run the card multiple times until a payment goes through. They harassed me, claiming I owed them a payment, only to later admit, "Oh, it was a mistake, you did pay..." Yet, they can't communicate when they decide to start charging my card $100 a month? This is insane. Finally put a stop payment on my card for this establishment. Start your membership at a different YMCA!

I've been working with Alexa, as my personal trainer, since March of last year. I have increased my strength and feel very strong as a result of her expertise and encouragement. She is kind, fun and makes working out not seem like a chore! We have great conversations and she never stops pushing me to lift more and heavier. The gym is nice; as a 51 year old woman, I never feel awkward about being there. I'd love for some new mats (they are old), but overall I love working out here, and Alexa makes it even better!

Front desk girl at this gym was extremely helpful and polite. If not for her, I would probably give this place 3 stars. Only has one squat rack and much of their equipment is dirty and disorganized. Overall, not a terrible gym.

Wow let me start off by saying this is my favorite Crunch location. The staff are super friendly and greet you with a warm welcome feeling as soon as you walk in. The facility is always super clean and nice. (: I would recommend everyone to this gym. Try it out !

I have been a member at this gym for about a year and a half now. I love the gym, it is spacious, it has a sauna among other things and the staff is awesome. I joined their personal training program around May 2024 with Sophia. The whole PT team is great, very knowledgeable and encouraging. Sophia cares about her clients and works with me to reach my weight training goals. With her help I have been able to hit personal bests several times and feel very confident in the gym. She is very knowledgeable about weight training, nutrition, and how everythung works together to obtain the best results from my workouts. I highly recommend Sophia and the rest of the PT team here at Crunch Fitness University.

First and foremost, I came to Crunch with little to no experience in the gym. I, of course, was initially intimidated. Three months later, the Crunch at University Square has become my "safe space". The clientele are friendly, non-judgmental, respectful, and largely serious about working out. The staff are beyond welcoming. They are genuinely interested in the well-being of the gym goers and are invested in seeing them grow. I often see the staff assisting and advising different individuals on their own time. HOWEVER, the MOST generous, helpful, caring and supportive staff member is unquestionably their personal trainer, Sam. I have had the good fortune of training with Sam for 3 months now, bi-weekly. I have seen a dramatic change in my physique. And it's not just me; my family, friends and acquaintances constantly comment on my transformation. Sam has a Degree in Kinesiology and is working towards her DPT (Doctor of Physical Therapy). She is not only encouraging but extremely knowledgeable. For someone who is just beginning, intermediate, or an expert in the gym, I can guarantee Sam can teach you something new about your body and yourself. I had hoped to grow physically as a result of taking personal training... And I did. But I never dreamed of how much I would grow on a personal level. Sam has helped me reach my goals inside and outside of the gym. Would recommend! Thanks so much to everyone at Crunch and a big Thank You to Sam for helping me become my best self. -Oliver Maurice Martin

I wanna give a shout out to the employee Jonathan. He was courteous, kind, helpful, and made our experience awesome! Unfortunately, the bearded owner or manager that was on site was rude and dismissive of my friend and myself while we were there. If it wasn’t for Jonathan, I probably would’ve gave this place two stars.

Nate at the counter was extremely helpful and resourceful. The gym was easy going with lots of places to climb for all different skill levels. Also, the outdoor workout space is great!

Great gym. You will get strong if you commit to climbing here a lot. The owner is a solid dude and cares a lot about his gym. Setting can be weird for tall people but just adopt the Megos approach.

I've been climbing on and off for about 5 years and I've never felt so welcomed at a climbing gym. The Grotto community is so supportive, and the staff is always so friendly and helpful. The setting is great and they have a good variety of problems for all skill levels. The yoga classes are also a great bonus! I highly recommend Grotto to anyone looking to get into climbing or just looking for a great community to be a part of.

Grotto climbing and yoga is a great place for climbing, yoga, and fitness. The facilities are clean and well maintained. The staff is always super friendly and knowledgeable. The climbing is definitely challenging and there are plenty of routes to try. The yoga classes are great and the instructors are very knowledgeable and helpful. Highly recommend Grotto to everyone!

Amazing Muay Thai Gym! Pacific Roots is incredible! The coaches are highly skilled and supportive, making it perfect for all levels. The training is intense yet fun, and the atmosphere is welcoming and motivating. My daughter has improved so much since joining. Highly recommend for anyone interested in Muay Thai!

I’ve been training at Pacific Roots Muay Thai for a while now, and I can honestly say it’s one of the best gyms I’ve ever been to. The coaches are incredibly knowledgeable, passionate about the sport, and genuinely care about your progress. Whether you're a beginner or advanced, they offer great instruction to get you where you wanna be. Love this gym!

Pacific Roots Muay Thai is honestly such a great gym. The coaches and the community here are what make it special. Everyone is super knowledgeable, kind, and welcoming, which makes it an awesome place whether you’re just starting out, a more experienced fighter, or somewhere in the middle. Seeing how dedicated and passionate everyone is at this gym is really inspiring. Plus, they take hygiene and safety seriously, which I really appreciate. People make sure to wipe down the equipment with disinfectant, and the space is always clean. If you’re looking for a place to learn, train, and be around amazing people who love the sport, this is it

If you want to learn real muay thai come to this gym. Kru Shaun is the real deal. Coaches and team here really care about you and will strive to get you to your full potential. Only good people here at Pacific Roots. Been here for a year and half and I claim everyone as family.

I have moved around a lot in the past decade so I have tried a lot of different combat sport gyms across the country and can confidently say that Pacific Roots offers comprehensive high quality Muay Thai instruction and training for all ages and ability levels regardless of what your goals are. There are folks looking to get a full-body workout while learning striking to those training for championship bouts. There are lots of opportunities for those looking to compete with an active competition team that participate in developmental point sparring, amateur fights and national tournaments. All the coaches are very knowledgeable and provide valuable feedback in classes. There is a very strong sense of community and everyone is supportive of one another.

Overview: The BEST climbing gym in San Diego, welcoming community, great facilities —— Grotto changed my life. After my first visit, I fell in love with bouldering and signed up for a membership the very next day. The sense of community here is so strong - the people I’ve met here have become like a second family, and this gym feels like a home away from home. —— Facilities: This is exclusively a bouldering gym with a variety of sections, competition walls, a spray wall, and an adjustable MoonBoard. - Route setting schedule posted next to the water fountains and next to the fitness area - Each wall stays up for around 2 months and a different wall is reset every 2 weeks - Their mats are soft, a LOT softer than Mesa Rim - There’s dedicated holds to help you climb down marked by a red tape square - Also it’s faster to sign the waiver online before coming! —— Fitness Area: - Great for supplementing climbing, it would be even better if there were cable machines - Strength Training: Squat racks, benches, free weights, barbells, kettlebells, medicine balls, resistance bands - Cardio Machines: Elliptical, treadmill, stationary bike, and rowing machine - Hang Board Area: A wide variety of holds for grip training Yoga: - Free for members - Different types of yoga from slow, rhythmic flows to strength-based power yoga - Classes are scheduled in the morning or evening depending on the day and location - Easy sign-up; check the schedule and reserve your spot online - Make sure you sign up at the correct location! (Miramar and not Mission Valley) Amenities: - Bathrooms with free tampons and hair ties - Two changing rooms - Water fountains with a refill station - Dog-friendly! Water bowls are located next to bathrooms - Plenty of cubbies for storage, including smaller ones near seating areas and a larger storage area. —— Membership Perks: - 1 free guest pass per month (usable anytime) - An additional guest pass on the last Friday of every month - Access to both G1 (Mission Valley) and G2 (Miramar) locations - Free yoga classes —— Pricing: - Regular Monthly: $98 (+ $100 initiation fee) - Discounted Monthly (Military, First Responder, Student): $93 (+ $100 initiation fee) - 10-Day Membership: $49 Prepaid Options: - 1 Month: $151 - 6 Months: $540 - 12 Months: $972 Pass Options: - Day Pass: $31 - 5 Punch Pass: $140 - 10 Punch Pass: $279 - 20 Punch Pass: $476 - 30 Punch Pass: $684 Extras Purchases: - Drinks, protein shakes, and bars available for purchase - Shoe rentals $7 - Chalk rentals $4 - Shirts, sweatshirts, pants, shoes, and chalk also for sale —— Seating and Workspace: - There’s plenty of seating around the gym— plastic garden chairs and wooden stumps with small cushions. - A large communal table with outlets; great for charging devices or getting some work done (music is always playing, so if you need concentration, bring your own headphones) Crowds and Parking: - Quiet Sessions: Visit in the mornings - Busier Times: After work hours (around 6 PM) - Extra Crowded Days: Mondays and Wednesdays (UCSD climbing club meets at 7 PM), and Thursdays (adult climbing class starts at 6:30 PM) - Parking can fill up quickly on busy days, but street parking is available nearby —— The staff are so genuinely nice and welcoming, they set Grotto apart from all the other gyms. —— Overall: Whether you want to try out climbing for the first time or you’re an experienced climber looking for a gym, I can’t recommend Grotto enough.

Really nice gym with super fun boulders! Issues are in the safety aspects. Serious lack of down climb holds, especially on vert/slab terrain. Also some pretty unsafe setting with large volumes low on the wall and in fall zones. I stepped on multiple large screws on the mats as well.

Amazing gym! The price is definitely worth it. The atmosphere and people climbing there are so nice and friendly. They have spray wall here which is a must for every gym in my opinion. As well as adjustable board climbing and comp routes. Also the setting here is lovely! Kudos to the setters they're doing an astounding job!

My partner and I recently visited Grotto during our trip to San Diego. Pros: The staff at the front desk was awesome. They were very welcoming and generally peppy. The gym also really felt like it was working to cultivate that community that gyms thrive on. Very clean and diverse climbs. Cons: the day pass was very expensive for how small the gym was. It was almost $30. The workout area also wasn’t great. The treadmills kept stuttering when I tried to run and I felt like I was sort of in the middle of things. I’m really glad we checked it out, but we are going to keep exploring other gyms in the area.

This gym is the best gym in San Diego. The setting is 100% the best. Justin is really nice, and I like the music he plays. The other climbers are really friendly too. The vibe is right.

Carrie is amazing! One of the best yoga instructors in San Diego. Jay has great hit work outs as well

The installations are very nice, clean and hot and humid (whrn needed) ample parking and they have classes almost every hour Monday through Sunday the only downfall I see is that not all the teachers are top notch, some of them really guide you, instruct you and you can tell theyre keeping the time so you can perform an even/balanced practice, others seem like theyre there to practice themselves and spend too much time talking instead of practicing, this is unfortunate because if you have a membership sometimes you cant or dont want to attend because the teacher in turn is not as good as others and is not as beneficial for your practice.

I've really enjoyed my first week. Attended 3 Core-1 sessions with three different instructors, and each was excellent. As a beginner to yoga, it's been very challenging, but I love it. The combination of strength training, stretching/flexibility, balance, as well as mind/body/spirit connection are terrific, and just what my body needs. Thank you!

My first time to this location. The yoga instructors did a great job. They taught me the way in how to direct your body core in easy way and to relief the tightness of my muscles. There are six instructors going around each yogis to correct posture and help out in a proper procedures. I felt my muscles softens and I felt more energy and flexible. I definitely will come back to do more Yoga.

The 11am Sat dance class is the best! Bolly Dance! So fun and lively! The Wed 12pm dance class is also amazing with the lights off and disco ball. So fun! Wish it was possible to drop in to a class for around $30 instead of $50. Gym equipment is outdated but the vastness of the entire complex make up for it. Wish the basketball court schedule was online because sometime the pickle ball people play where the basketball court is for a large chunk of time so it's hard to get to play if you don't know the schedule. Wall yoga is really nice. Also wish the cafe sold espresso drinks. Would love to have an iced latte after my workout around noon but they only have coffee up until 11:00 a.m. but it is free so you have to work out really early if you want to enjoy the coffee but I wouldn't mind paying for a coffee if they had a espresso machine so I could go there workout and then have a coffee so I can go to work super energized. I think as well since it is like a community center it would be nice if they had community events like meet and greets or dinners or appetizers or just social hours so that way everyone could have a chance to meet each other because you start to recognize people because you go all the time but it would be nice to have an event to break the ice and make some workout friends to help keep you motivated and so you would have a gym buddy! Because my friends didn't want to pay the price to join so I didn't have a gym buddy so I cancelled my membership.

This gym has it all and it feels like a second home. You can workout, relax, and even meet new friends. In just one month, I have become more fit, happy, and relaxed. Thank you, Bay Club for keeping me young! My father passed away just before Thanksgiving, and the Bay Club has brought life back into my life!

We re-joined the club in Feb. We love it since it is great location for the area resident and ample parking spot. They have added great new classes like Ignite and Hit. They also have outdoor classes so inside classes do not get crowded. The reason for 4 star is with being a huge place with cafeteria there is a big need for recycling bin and unfortunately they have none. I did complain to one of the staff and he said he is completely all for it and he has mentioned to the management. Also equipment in the inside need to be cleaned once in a while.

Please do yourself a favor and choose a different club. The membership rate is ridiculous, the staff it rude, there is no parking and there is no available equipment like treadmills, bicycles and stair masters. You can get much more and better at different club. This club is not worth it for what they charge for membership

I switched to this club in January after seeing that the club was incredibly clean, has had a beautiful remodel and all of the equipment is brand new. The real value though has been working out with trainer Lexy. Lexy has easily taken my workouts and results to the next level. Crunch also has technology that measures my results monthly. The amazing thing is that this training program costs significantly less per month than my previous gym.

I’ve been coming this last year and honestly love this place. Really clean and organized and most of the time the gym goers will leave you alone. The staff is super sweet, and will literally remember you even if you haven’t said anything. Shout out to Brittany, she always makes me feel like family and hooks me up with all the special features of the gym!!

The facility is clean and well maintained. The staff are friendly and personable. I have been coming to Crunch Carmel Valley at least three times a week for four years. That being said, I am a big fan of the recent renovations and general improvements. I love the addition of new and duplicated equipment because it has cut down the time waiting around and increased my versatility. I actively recommend Crunch to my family and friends.

The 6am Spin class on Mondays and Thursdays taught by Melissa is fabulous! A 10/10! Finally a class offered in the morning so we can get the workout done before work with great music, a great workout, and a fun experience overall. The class is a calorie scorcher and you gain strength at the same time. Great addition to your spin classes!

I have to say best gym experience I have ever had. The front desk young ladies Brittany and Amanda immediately made me feel welcome. Extremely genuine. Highly recommend this location. Very clean and overall friendly environment.

Standard MC gym. Overall pretty nice, but some cardio equipment is down. It can be busy at times. AC seems like it's working sometimes and not others, which can be a problem.

Too small, closes way too early. I don't see why a gym on an air station would close this early. Can't be that hard to set up a cac in and cac out system.

Easily the worst gym I’ve been to on a Marine Corps installation. The layout makes no sense, cleaning supplies for the equipment is lazily put out and hard to find, and with what equipment they do have a good portion isn’t used and takes up space.

Great place to workout if you're on base or in the area of SD and want to be surrounded by MOTIVATION!!! The busy times ar 5-8, 11-13, & ,16-1900.

The weight room is over crowded withe equipment. There is no room to do HIIT unless you want to pay for F45 classes.

Great use of a smaller space. You couldnt fit another piece of equipment in here if your tried. Locker rooms are what you’d expect, small, smelly and in need of some funds. But all and all it’s a great place to workout on base.

The public won't have access to the gym unless you are military personnel. I've been coming to this gym since 2007 and still by far the best on base with better equipment.

Good place to workout first thing in the morning. The barn opens at 5 and I suggest going then, you'll have free range of all the equipment. They have cable weights, free weights, and plenty of treadmills of you don't do the outside thing. Avoid going at lunch at all cost.

Exclusive club. If you like picking up heavy things and putting th back down, over and over, this is the place to be. Some of the biggest and strongest men and women you will see are here. Check with your local friendly Marine Corps recruiter for more information.

They are annoying about the covid card.... its a piece of paper if I have it with me all the time it will get wrecked. I have a pic of it and they said that isnt good enough. Yet the other gym less than a 1/4 mile away doesn't even ask for a card. I do also have both shots.
