Jeremy (Manager California) handled a situation that for the most part left me feeling less than human. I have been a member of PF for over 3 years and have lost over 150lbs. Panama lane machines for handicapped have been broken for over a year and I was told they are not under a warranty so likelihood of repair is nonexistant. The main issue was having to use an aluminum chair and a yoga mat to exercise on the equipment, after which when I asked the employee if I could leave the mat at the counter because my back and foot I was hurtine i was told, "That's not in my job description". I guess customer service isnt this employee's Priority. Furthermore the employee went back to checking his phone after, and I walked away feeling defeated. To think I actually wanted to work for this location because Ayla is a great manager and her staff talk highly about her. I already struggle to get in a work out, stay pain free, and consistent and this employeess judgement left me wanting to cancel my membership. If It was not for Jeremy here at California I would be an inshape member today. He expressed empathy and let me work out on their equipment even though I was not a home member here. Planet fitness needs to maintain its equipment or have someone who's job it is to ensure its not down For months or a (year). We pay monthly im sure the community expects working machines. I look forward to a response to this situation.

Clean location, great amenities, I love planet fitness because it’s never over packed like most gyms get, you can come in do your specific workouts without having to wait for machines to become available to use

I went to the planet fitness on California Ave and the rude manager there told me and my guest to “you could leave, the door is there, leave” only because I told him that I got messed up with the names but the old as manger that should retire told us to leave and didn’t even let me speak and explain why I got messed up with the names. I never had a bad experience with pf but after that I’ll be canceling my membership very disappointed in pf. I was really disrespected by a MANAGER there do better in picking managers!

Horrible customer service specially with a guy named Mario in the front desk he is so incompetent doesn't know anything. I was trying to cancel my membership from a Planet fitness club in Carson ca. this guy said he couldn't help me that I specifically had to go cancel in person to the very same gym I started my membership at. I called the old gym and someone kindly helped me over the phone and helped me transfer clubs to this one here in Bakersfield on California. Even after I transfer club I still couldn't cancel my membership immediately. Planet fitness sucks so fast to take u as a member but make it difficult to cancel your membership..... I still have to be here back unfortunately to cancel my membership another day... hopefully with another competent well knowledgeable employee.

The addition of all-new Matrix treadmills, ellipticals and stair climbers is nice to see. One pet peeve of mine, and this isn't exclusive to Planet Fitness, is people who spend more time on their phones while sitting at a weight machine than they do exercising on it. Even with us standing nearby wanting to use the machine. Do your internet elsewhere, folks. Leave the gym for those of us that actually want to work out and then get on with our day.

This gym keeps every section clean. From the main gym floor to even the bathrooms. Depending on the level of membership, the amenities are worth it. Weights, cable machines, classes, swimming, sauna, steam room, the recovery room with message machines, and their smoothie and shakes area. And for those with kids, check out their kids center.

Have been to this gym as a buddy with my friend's Max membership and by using a 1 week free trial on the app. I like the gym, the equipment, amenities and decided to pull the trigger and get the Max membership with Kids Club access so I can bring my kids to the gym when I work out. I walked in and said I wanted to join. Then I was directed to fill out my information on the app already on my phone. I wanted to use a credit card as my form of payment and told that I could. However I was told by the supervisor that I would be charged a $30 fee if I used a credit card as my form of payment. When I questioned this and why the app seemed to not allow me to move forward without banking info, the supervisor said the app wouldn't let me sign up without banking information in order to save me this $30 fee, and that if I insisted on using a card, she would have to create a whole new account for on their side, and to just go ahead and fill out my banking information anyway. This struck me as odd and I prefer to use my credit card for monthly expenses like gym memberships rather than my full blown banking information. I don't understand the $30 setup fee for using a credit card. Is this fee listed in the promo ads for $1 enrollment? Is this just an arbitrary penalty for using a card instead of my banking information because it's easier to pull money from bank accounts rather than charge credit cards? I was told by both the employees I spoke to that it was an option to use a card for my monthly dues, but only if i was ok with the extra hassle and an arbitrary up front fee of $30. This seems unfair. I came in to purchase the Max membership but walked out with nothing because no one was able to explain this to me. If it's supposedly an option to use a card, why are employees trained to simply insist/pressure you to give up your banking information? Frankly, I've been a member of a lot of gyms and this was weird to me, so I walked out.

I Like this gym and their amenities, but can the bathroom stalls be attended more frequently?. I have been coming here for about five months now and the toilets are consistently discussing. And I know it’s not because there isn’t someone to do it because I guarantee there is 2-4 workers hanging out in the front to greet people every day.

Alright...so this place has been open for almost 1 day. Go ahead and ignore 98% of the previous reviews as they have nothing to do with the actual facility... and are all about the LONG delay we all had (I signed up in May of 2022). The facility itself is beautiful. Obviously, it is very clean as it is new. The staff have also been friendly whenever I've asked questions. There are all types of workout equipment and areas. Barbell weights feel solid, and dumbbells go up to 100 lbs. There's a yoga room, meditation room, cinema room (yes, watch a movie while doing cardio), outside workout area, group exercise area. Bathrooms are very nice and showers are big! There are plenty of drinks choices, and it's not overly cold (like Planet Fitness that has all their giant fans turned on to keep their gyms at 50° or below 🙄). I'm definitely looking forward to using this gym and checking out the other ones around California in time.

Here to give 5/5 stars to combat everyone who decided to rate this place 1/5 before it even opened. How do you feel now? This place, especially for the price, is absolutely phenomenal. The facility is massive and whenever you think you’ve seen everything, there’s more. The cinema is no joke, the stereo system is on par with an actual theater experience. There’s SO MUCH equipment—gone are the days where I have to wait an hour to use one of the three benches that are functional (I’m looking at you PF). I can’t say too much about the pool yet since it won’t be open for another month but it looks super promising. Seeing as it was their first week opening, I didn’t expect too much from the smoothies, so I’ll give them a pass on that but excited to try other drinks on the menu. The staff almost remind me of the kind of employees you’d find working at an Apple store. Shout out to Matt for giving me an awesome tour and getting me hyped up to come in for my first workout session there. So excited to see this place grow and thrive.

This place is a Bakersfield treasure for people who want to lift. I don't hold a full time membership here anymore because I live way on the other side of town, but I get day passes here regularly to workout with friends that have memberships. From the moment you walk in you'll recognize something immediately: this gym is everything that commercial gyms are not. It is extremely well stocked and well organized (weights are always put away!). The cleaning towels are plentiful, high quality, and replaced regularly. There is a real vision about the place that makes it clear the owners actually care about the gym's usability (I love the labeled cable attachment wall). The gym culture is unmatched. I'm a hobbyist bodybuilder so once upon a time I was worried I'd be out of place, but I have been welcomed time and time again by the friendliest men and women lifters in town. Whether you're a powerlifter, Olympic lifter, bodybuilder, or anyone else who wants to work on themselves, you will have a place here and I can't recommend it enough.

Wife and I signed up yesterday (August 12th). We went to work out for the first time this morning (August 13th). The lights were not on and we had to walk around a few minutes before we could find the light switches in the dark. Once we got the lights on. We noticed that it was actually cooler outside than it was inside. Far too warm for me to be able to work out without passing out from the heat. None of the fans were on. I turned the light switches back off and we left without working out. I just got off the phone canceling our membership. We spent $120 for zero work outs and being a gym member for less than 24 hours.

I dropped in while traveling on business and couldn’t have asked for a better experience. Everyone is super friendly and the gym has everything you need for an amazing workout. It’s well-set up and very clean. I’ll definitely be back!

One of the few places I look forward to whenever I’m in Bakersfield. The gym has everything for weightlifting and accomplishimg your fitness goals. Unlike commercial gyms, they are pretty welcoming of all people wand have an unbeatable gym access… just make sure to rerack your weights and have a spotter on the squat rack. I highly recommend this place.

I've had a pleasant experience here. Staff is friendly and is also knowledgeable about working out. The owner and trainers have assisted me in understanding some of their specialized equipment. I always recommend this gym to everyone I know. Also, if you're into lifting competitions, this is definitely the place for you as they coach and host competitions there at the facility from time to time. Big thumbs up 👍

I wanted to check out this gym before committing to a membership, but they wouldn’t let me get a daily pass to try it out. It felt like they were more interested in getting me to sign up than actually letting me experience what they offer. It’s disappointing when a gym isn’t confident enough in their service to let potential members try it first. Thankfully, I found Chuze Fitness nearby, and they were the complete opposite. They were welcoming, let me try their facilities, and the equipment was top-notch. Chuze’s staff made me feel like they actually wanted me there and were proud of what they offered. If you’re looking for a new gym, I’d definitely recommend checking out Chuze Fitness instead!

The manager told me to move my Harley like he controls the parking and then told I could cancel my membership if I payed $150 on a month to month membership. The owner called me to resolve the issue and blew me off. And admitted he rides a Harley and would be able to park where the bike is safe. Really bad business.

I've never been treated with such disrespect from 2 employees located here I was told over the phone that I would be able to pick up the free gift cards for joining but as soon as I arrive at the location I was not only treated like if I didn't belong there but told that Thay just gave out the last one 🥲 I'm not sure what the heck it's for but it's free and it's not okay to tease people with false ads WORST PEOPLE EVER and to top it off I kindly ask if they could call the other locations to see if they have any but I was told to DO IT MY SELF I BELIEVE THEIR NAME'S ARE TRACE AND ELANE? WORST PEOPLE EVER

I love Body Xchange on Allen Rd! What makes this gym so special is the great community of fellow members and employees. We are truly a gym family. My favorite part of the workout is being greeted by Jay at the front counter. He always offers a friendly smile followed by encouraging tips for a great workout!! Thank you, Jay!!
