I’ve been a member of Equinox for pretty long time, and I’m extremely frustrated with the recent experience I’ve had with their billing and customer service. I requested to freeze my membership for one month, as per the terms of my agreement, but was still charged the full price for that month. Despite reaching out to the gym’s management multiple times to request a refund, they have refused to correct the issue or issue a refund, even though it was clearly their error. I’ve always been happy with the gym's facilities and services, but this lack of responsiveness and failure to honor the freeze terms has been incredibly disappointing. I expect better from a company of this caliber, and I would caution anyone considering a membership to be aware of how they handle billing discrepancies. I’m considering taking further action to resolve this, but it’s been a frustrating and time-consuming process.

The gym is big and has a good variety of equipments, despite that I’m unsure if it’s worth the 300+ membership. The pool is always crowded and many swimmers don't wear caps. The front desk lady was pretty rude and unhelpful, the worst I dealt with compared to all other sf locations

This gym is enormous! They have all the latest equipment and keep this location incredibly clean. I love they have weights in 2.5lb increments (22.5lb and 27.5lb dumbbells)! It’s very spacious and the equipment is placed strategic for many types of workouts.

I came into this club with high expectations but unfortunately had a disappointing experience with the front desk staff. I arrived on a Tuesday evening at 7 PM and explained that I wanted to tour the location because I was considering switching my active membership from the Berkeley club ($226/month) to this club ($305/month with a corporate discount). However, the staff member informed me that, due to the club’s different tier, I couldn’t do a walkthrough on my own and would need to meet with a membership advisor. When I asked if a manager was available to assist, I was told there was none. I then asked if he could simply switch my membership on the spot so I could use the gym immediately. His response? “I can’t do that; you need to meet with a membership advisor.” This made no sense—why would switching an active membership require a manager or advisor? All that’s needed is to adjust which club bills me and the associated cost. To make matters worse, he suggested I pay $45 for a day pass to use the gym. Paying for a day pass at a gym where I’m already a paying member, shelling out $226/month, is absurd. After I made it clear I wasn’t interested in the day pass, he asked again if I wanted him to charge my card on file for it. What’s especially frustrating is how much worse the customer service was here compared to the Berkeley club. At Berkeley, I’ve had managers directly reach out to help resolve issues and ensure my experience as a member was positive. The contrast couldn’t be starker: while Berkeley provides proactive and thoughtful service, this club left me feeling like my loyalty as a paying member wasn’t valued at all. Other locations, such as Beale Street and Pine Street, also provide far superior service: Beale Street Club: Their staff were much friendlier and accommodating. When they couldn’t switch my membership on the spot, they apologized sincerely and took the initiative to connect me with their membership team. Pine Street Club: Also a great experience, with helpful and welcoming staff. For a club that charges significantly more, I expected much better. If you’re considering a membership here, I’d strongly recommend looking at other locations that value and respect their members.

The gym is fairly well equipped. It feels like a converted office. I think people join for the classes. Not many power racks and they don't get used very much. Equipment is always open. Nice executive lockers if you want your gym clothes laundered. It's a minor benefit and I always found the towels smell like old coffee. Also they shrunk my shorts and all the labels peeled off my shirts. My advice: keep it simple with fitness sf, instead.

Do not come to this gym if you are trying to use the advertised 3 day pass to try the gym. I wanted to check out the gym before committing to a 2 month membership, but the worker named Marion or Marlon did not give me the option. It practically seemed that I had no other choice than signing up, so I left. It looks like in other reviews it has happened to other people, so I should have read them in advance. I don’t know why they offer this option if they are not going to let people use it.

The management is actually nice and try to help you with the best they can. The best part is they got all the machines that one usually needs. If anything is broken, they fix it within few weeks. There’s ALWAYS at least one cleaning staff working there. So yes the gym is clean! And it’s basically chain of LA fitness so you get access to all city sports in the bay area, which i really used a lot and LA fitness across the country.

OMG I am so appalled and let down by the management at this facility. They failed to inform anyone that the pool would be closed from the 13th to the 17th for maintenance. I only found out that the pool was closed When I arrived there to use it. I was also stunned and very disgusted by what I saw in the pool. They have set up dirty contractors scaffolding in the pool, it's actually sitting in the water. I hope to God that they drain and sanitize the pool after they're done with the work on the ceiling. Furthermore I called and asked to speak to a manager and when I explained that the only reason I go-to the gym was to use the pool he pretty much told me that there was nothing he could do. He did not try to make me feel whole or treat me like a paying member he just fobbed me off by saying that there was nothing he could do. I have attached a picture of the contractors scaffold that's currently in the water.

To be honest I don’t even know where to start with this review, there’s so many things wrong with this gym. I used to be a member years ago and canceled my membership because it was too crowded, but I decided to try it out again and come as a guest since my friends are members at this gym. For starters, the gym is insanely crowded at all times. It’s also not maintained at all and a lot of the machines are out of order periodically. The machines are also all ancient and all ripped up, some of them have stickers on them because you can no longer see the numbers on the weights… The staff are also incredibly unfriendly and all have attitudes, especially when you have any questions other than “where do I sign up?”… To top everything off, I have been getting harassed with calls and non stop voicemails over the last month asking when I want to come in and sign up. I asked them to stop calling me twice and have received 6 calls since asking the second time… I get you guys are trying to get more members (probably not a good idea since the gym is already insanely crowded as it is) but harassing potential customers with calls is making me want to sign up for this gym even less 🤦🏼♀️ Save your troubles and sign up for Crunch Fitness instead! Their gyms are so much cleaner, the machines are all working/in good condition, and all the staff are very nice.

This gym is my go to. I recently signed up after talking with Anant, one of the general managers at the gym. He was one of the most courteous people Ive had the pleasure to work with in this space. Most gyms, because i still need work, make me feel anxious and super uncomfortable. Anant reassured that this place would be different, and it absolutely is. Ive been now coming for about a month, and i'm happier here than I have been at any other facilities. and im getting healthier! Thank you you for making this space a place I want to be, rather than a place i feel forced to go!

They need to put more benches and free weights in the gym. During the semester, everyday the free weights are packed while 15 treadmills are just sitting there collecting dust. If people want to run, there are multiple tracks on campus and plenty of sidewalks and grass. What is this? Planet Fitness? I love cardio, but this is dumb. Not to mentions all the guys sitting on their phone for 10 minutes between each set. The gym culture is not great. I assume that's because there's always an influx of people who are not familiar with the gym. Also, the pool should have more lanes instead of a large chunk of space dedicated to being a kiddie pool. Also, the vending machine in the gym is filled with junk food. Where are the protein bars and shakes? There is like 1 protein bar in the vending machine and 80% of the time, it's empty. Guess, I'll just eat some chips after the great workout session I had. WHERE'S THE PROTEIN. It's also hot in the gym. Bouldering is cool though.

Pretty nice gym. There can be a lot of people sometimes but whenever I go it’s never really too much and there will always be some machine avaible for you to use

Paying high rate tuition and waiting for a bench or a machine long time in the gym. Machines are old, occasionally broken or in unbalanced,As always just a nice building and nothing worth inside it,

Nice building, as far as fitness equipment, pretty old and janky, weight plates almost completely stripped of rubber, machines from last century. But it is clean and has cool stuff like climbing wall and pool, gets a pretty crowded though.

It's mid at best. If cleanliness and general looks are what your worried about then this place is for you. There's a dumb platform sign up rule that only half of the people follow and basically none of the staff enforces. The equipment in the gym is decent but the weight lifting areas are small. The most egregious thing is that whenever they change their operation hours you won't know unless you follow their instagram. Totally makes sense not to have it somewhere visible by the entrance or have the employees tell the people coming in that their hours changed for that day :). Also a lot of the plates used for weight lifting are damaged in one way or another and there aren't enough plates for everyone to be frank.
