Best Gym near South-plainfield, New-jersey

There are more than 10 machines that need to be repaired. Lack of Management experience, men's restrooms always smell bad and need better maintenance. Update... They fixed many of the machines. Only 1 leg press machine is still out of service. Will rate gym now 4 stars.

The cleanliness in a place like this should be maintained frequently throughout the day, especially in the bathrooms, due to the high daily traffic of people. Lately, the machines appear to be out of service, and there is no visible effort from the management to repair them. The gym is less than 3 years old, yet it already looks like a place with many more years without responsible care and maintenance of equipment and infrastructure.

I’m a recent LA fitness member so I haven’t seen too many locations but I liked the set up of this location. The equipment looks new and there are a lot of options to choose from. I like that their personal training area is big and in the middle. I’m usually more in North Jersey but wouldn’t mind coming here when I’m in the area.

I used to be working out with LA fitness years back and came to this location again , after 4/5 years . Loved it . Good location , very close to so many other shops in oak tree road . Good facility with so many things to work out . 🏋️‍♀️ I like the weights area but it gets crowded in peak times and you hardly get a bench . I also like ellliptical machines and they have plenty. My wife likes the aerobics classes . Spin classes are good too. Lots of parking outside . Change rooms are good . Overall a good experience… 👍👍

I give it a solid TWO only because I’ve been to better LA’s. There doesn’t appear to be ONE SINGLE smith machine or machines that don’t move and rotate when you sit on them. There’s only 2 freestanding smith machines. Big no no. Not a fan. Won’t be returning. This is a budget Planet Fitness.

Very rude staff some of their members I think need to get checked out because it seems like they are bipolar and have temper tantrums and are very racist I am definitely changing locations after the experience that I just had at this location. Lady was very rude and screaming at me for no reason I don’t know if she’s a manager or what she is but she should be fired. never did I ever get treated like this from anyone at any kind of business for literally no reason the lady started screaming at me as I went to sign in because my husband was helping me, she started screaming at me and throwing me out. And telling me I have an attitude because she asked to, and I told her my name is Alex, I don’t know if she was having a bad day or whatever the reason is, but she needs help and should not be at the front desk or around people she was screaming in the gym and being a nuisance. All the people around was looking and laughing at her. She was acting as a complete animal I am in shock right now. Being Treated like this is not worth the $30 membership. She started throwing me and my husband out. I asked her what is your problem and she said you are the problem. I do not know this Lady calling her Lady is actually being too nice because she did not act like a lady or have any manners or know how to treat people, I even told her this is not how to treat customers, but she did not care and continue screaming at me but I will not ever enter this location again, and I don’t think anyone ever should from the way that they treat members and people it is really ridiculous. Do not waste your time going here go to another location no matter how far it is from you.

Update- Broken Equipment-My experience has been degraded. Initially I was really impressed but now facing lot of issues specially with poorly maintained equipment. More than 50% of trade mills are out of service. Very limited bench press. Long waiting to get good and working equipment. Reported my issues multiple times to staff and trainer but no outcome. Tried reaching out manager/ owner but I was told he/she is not available. We get good response on good reviews but would see how my concerns are addressed. Previous Review Still Valid but Disappointed with Broken Equipment: Neat and clean. Well maintained. Staffs are nice. Prime location. Free locker , shower available.

monthly inexpensive complex for fitness. There is also a large parking area as it is easy to access and is in the shopping center. Since they have many branches, they also offer the opportunity to go to other branches. There is always someone at the reception to welcome you. There are paid machines inside where you can buy drinks. They also have an area where you can sit and drink coffee. There are enough machines and weights to exercise, but when it is crowded in the evening, it may be necessary to wait in line. What I like the most is the cleanliness of the locker rooms. The cabinets are a little small, but the inside is clean and neat. Sinks, toilets and showers are well-maintained and cleaned constantly. they did two 12 and 30 minute study sessions for beginners. There are officers who constantly clean the machines and weights. I think that there can be teachers who will help those who do sports at certain hours in the hall. There is a massage room at the exit of the salon. After doing sports, you can use the armchairs and beds free of charge to relax and have a massage. they allow your friends to come and do sports in the gym 3 times free of charge.

Great space and clean establishment. The machines are slightly different from other locations but still does the same work. The only thing I didn’t like is the person at the front desk kept emphasizing that the massage chairs were just for black members which I know since I’ve been a black card member for many years now.

Visiting from South Florida and this was a nice location to workout at. Plenty of smith machines (about 5 I think) along with other machines and weights. Location was also well kept and staff seemed friendly. I only felt comfortable taking pics from the Abs room.

Very nice atmosphere and friendly staff, quite clean and most importantly there is a swimming pool and sauna which is very important. The only thing is that when something breaks in the gym, they don't fix it quickly, let's say the jacuzzi was broken and they couldn't fix it for more than two months, it's very inconvenient.

Very helpful staff. My membership process was very smooth. Nice facility and clean. Very happy with the gym. Update: 22 days after joining the gym, I had to cancel the membership because of unforeseen circumstances. The guy at the front desk picked up my call today and threatened to report me to credit bureau and affect my credit score for asking for money back. Very rude staff. Did not even offer to prorate the heavy enrollment fees and annual fees I paid when not even a full month has passed since I joined. They are happy to pocket my money and be rude at the same time. Also there class schedule is not good. Only has a handful of classes in the evenings or weekends. Same schedule every week so you don’t get different workouts. Once you get the membership, they will call every other day to make you sign their private coaching which comes with group classes for an extra $140 per month. The entire gym is below average in cleanliness. Water from the fountain tastes bad and the staff at front desk is very rude. Below average gym. Do not recommend joining!!!

I signed up with Scott for a membership. This has been the best gym I’ve gone to. Great equipment, cleanliness, top and bottom floor. Very spacious gym and the front desk staff always greets me when I come in and leave. Also the Personal Training Director Brian has helped me with some of my workouts. He is very knowledgeable and patient. If you are looking to make a lifestyle change I would recommend this gym and definitely speak to Brian to help you get to your goals. He helped me reduce 15 pounds of fat and gain a lot of muscle.

Unless you're in highschool to play basketball in the court or an older guy waiting to play squash or badminton this gym is not for you. Look at how the weight section is less than 10 minutes before closing. I don't blame staff when your clientele doesn't give a damn about putting things back where they found it. And that's just the tip of the iceberg. You're better off going to planet fitness across the street or any other gym for the same price.

So happy CocoBowlz opened up in town! I live in Hoboken and order from Playa Bowls & Jungle Juice but don’t have a reliable place for fresh bowls & smoothies when I come home to visit my family. The interior is beautiful and clean. The lovely man who made my bowls built them like artwork. I ordered one bowl off the menu and one custom bowl with a mixed base (coconut and açaí) with all the toppings including goji berries. Both were incredible and big servings. My mom, sister and I shared them and had leftovers (altho that took self control). We will be back!

This is my second time coming here. I am treated like a five star celebrity or a family member. I love the bowls here and the fruits are real and bursting with flavor. Everyone is welcoming and takes their time to explain the menu. I am honored to find this gem and I hope they have more locations soon. I will spread the news about this fruity oasis. I had a smoothie the first time I came here, and it was great. The second time I came, i had a bowl, and it was delicious. Can't wait to come back to try different options on their menu. Highly recommend 👌

Delicious, yes. But where is the açaí????? The bowl came with a bulb lid that was completely unnecessary. The chunky fruit took up most of the container and barely had enough a so to enjoy with it. $15 for a cut up banana and strawberries.
