It’s gross, dirty, old, and overall weird 😣the best that can be said for it is that it is, technically, a gym. But even though this one is way closer, it’s the Cambridge YMCA for me dawg.

The homeless guys upstairs I believe have a free membership to the private men’s club. And no matter what the staff says to them they use it as a laundry mat.. so you see people down there picking sores on the bottoms of their feet .. truly they were taught no basic hygiene whatsoever, men in their late 50s and 60s? Disgusting. I’ve had stuff taken out of my lockers. So I quit. Stay away from that place. They barely clean it. Same rolled up Band-Aid in the corner for two weeks. The maintenance guy. I don’t know what he’s doing in there.

Old and small, like a 1940s gym. At first you might think just the building and facilities are old, but I was surprised to see an elderly man watching a Laurel and Hardy film in one of the small upstairs offices. This may also strain credulity, but believe it or not -- there is a man in an iron lung living in the basement. Wow! I really liked the quirkiness of the owner of this particular YMCA (a very nice guy), a brolic mustachioed man who typically wears pinstripe unitards.

The price is right and the location can't be beat. Are there that many places I can walk five minutes to lift weights, swim, and do my cardio? I will be sad if this place ever finds a new location. Is it fancy? No. Nobody expects the Y to be an Equinox. It's a community center. In the suburbs people sit in their cars for 20-30 minutes just to get to a gym or pool. I am very grateful for the Y.

Unprofessional Attitude of Morning Staff My experience at the gym has been quite disappointing due to the attitude of the morning staff. On several occasions, I have encountered a vulgar and unprofessional demeanor from one of the employees. Recently, when I requested the key, the employee was reluctant to provide it and displayed their displeasure at having to get up to fetch it. Additionally, their verbal language was aggressive and entirely inappropriate. As a paying customer with a monthly membership, I do not believe I should endure such behavior from a stranger. When I asked for their name, the employee, who identified themselves as "Mitch" or something similar, showed even more disdain. I hope the gym management takes steps to address this kind of behavior among their staff. Lack of professionalism and respect towards customers is not acceptable in any establishment.

New too the Somerville area and have been looking for a good gym I have tried a few and none were a good fit until today I found my PERFECT GYM!!!! Listen if you hate that stupid Lunk Alarm and all the crap that comes along with it. GET HERE !!! 💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼 Everybody at this gym is beyond nice and helpful and accommodating. It’s relaxing to work out there. You don’t wanna go to a gym where you feel stressed. You wanna be able to go and relax and get your workout in. This is the place.

Ever Fitness is truly one of the best Gyms located in the Somerville/Cambridge area. Despite that, the facility has everything one would need to get a killer workout, and the staff and management are very kind and friendly! The latter transforms the experience into enjoyable and motivating to go there every day -- without hesitation -- even at 5:45 am. Moreover, the equipment is consistently clean. I have been a member at the gym since September and it's been an ongoing pleasurable experience. Thanks to the efforts of their meticulous and determined team. I highly recommend you check them out and don't hesitate to register at their affordable rate(it does include Sauna access)!

Gym is spacious and has a good selection of machines. I did notice a lot of members not reracking their weights.Tried to use the sauna but I believe it was broken.

Joining this gym a few months ago was the best decision I could have made. They are very affordable, and the gym offers both coed and ladies-only sections, which is a big plus for me. The weight section also looks brand new, and overall, it’s just a great gym. Definitely recommended!

Been to a lot of gyms in my day, but have never experienced such disrespect by staff. One of the front desk employees named Felix raised his voice to speak over me causing a scene, drawing the attention of several others. Do better Ever Fitness with your employee training and hiring respect people. All others, save your time and go somewhere else to work out.

Good trainers; dishonest practices. The gym sets up a recurring monthly charge. I was told this would be paused when I was out of town. It wasn't. Instead, the gym charged me thousands. I asked the gym to fix the issue and they said they couldn't refund anything. Then they said they'd ask someone higher in management and get back to me. They never got back to me. I used this gym for seven months, but maintaining an ongoing and mutually beneficial relationship just wasn't a priority for them.

review takes into account this is a gym located in city, so different expectations vs gym in suburbs (such as LA fitness). overall, pretty good gym for me who works out 5-6times a week. about 3-4 squat racks in total (3 can be modified to do other workouts), 2+ horizontal and 2+ incline bench press etc. one platform upstairs for deadlifting. plenty of free weights. room for cycling upstairs, many treadmills, could use more elliptical machines, some stairmasters do not work.. I usually do not have any issue getting on the machines/equipment i need since i workout in mornings.. can’t say much about how busy it is after work hours.. overall solid choice

I've been going to the Davis Square location for over 3 years and have to say, it can be great at times, but then you get reminded of how poorly the club is managed and wonder why you pay so much for so little. Today (01/29/2020) the Davis locaiton did not open untill after 6:30AM (posted hours are 5:30AM). I can appreciate the moring opener had an emergency but the fact that the GM does not have more than 1 employee open the gym every morning, and there is no alternate in the event of illness/emergency is astounding. Add to the fact that after calling all the other gyms in Boston (who dont have the GM's contact info), another employee got to Davis before the GM, and this is at 6:30AM! I pay $70/month (just so you know, they increase your rate every year by $5.00) and standing outside in 32* temps for an hour does not seem to be $70/month quality. I'd like to report that this is a one-off but this location has a history of poor quality, from messy locker rooms (see pictures) to the gym being closed while being an absolute mess. Again - I dont think $70/month quality involves spending my first 20 mins re-racking weights and clearing the space of empty water bottles and used towels from the night before. I've tried multiple times to bring this up and the buck gets passed along - I highly recomend looking anywhere else if you can, this location alone is the only reason I still go but have started looking at alternates closer to work. If you are deciding between BSC and another gym, choose the other and save your money.

no complaints so far. Good gym, interesting classes, great sauna. Decently-priced, well-located.

The Overall atmosphere at BSC in Davis is always a wonderful experience. Your greeted with a warm smile from the staff, and are always there to help when you need or want it. The gym itself is always clean and sanitized, and has all the equipment you need to have a full efficient workout. I have been working with Renee->(personal trainer) since February. She shows up to our appointments motivated, with a solid game plan, and inspiration. Not only is she attentive to your needs, she will find alternatives if you can’t complete the task. She uses all the equipment provided at BSC and ensures your comfortable with all of them. Her workout plans are simple yet vigorous which helps you meet your workout goals.! Thank you Renee for hard work, motivation, and positive attitude!

I joined orange theory two months back. On my second day I bought hart rate monitor with them for $130 but, it was defective. I told them almost every day they gave me the loner for each class but they never give me My money back or the new band. Now I canceled my membership already still I call them about my hart rate monitor they always tell me that they will call back after talking to their manager but I never got the call back. It is really frustrating they sell cheap quality product for that kind of price when it’s defective they don’t wanna take any kind of action.

staff was amazing and super supportive during my first workout after a injury. i can’t recommend this enough you leave feeling so good about yourself.

I’ve been an OrangeTheory member for over 5 years and recently brought my boyfriend to the Somerville location for the first time. Although he is familiar with OrangeTheory workouts and equipment from his previous visit to the Brighton location, and had his paperwork ready, we arrived a few minutes late due to traffic. Despite his prior experience with OrangeTheory, he was denied entry because he was new to this specific location. This policy seemed to apply only to him, as I was also new to this location. We were genuinely looking forward to the class and were disappointed by the experience. Unfortunately, due to this, we will not be returning to this location.

I’ve been to OrangeTheory before but this was my first time visiting the Somerville location. My girlfriend, a long-time member, brought me along. I was familiar with the workout and equipment, and had all my paperwork ready. However, due to traffic, we arrived a few minutes late. Despite my prior experience with OrangeTheory, I was told I couldn’t join the class because I was new to this particular location. It seemed that this policy applied only to me, as my girlfriend was also new to this location. We were really looking forward to the class, so we were disappointed by the experience. Unfortunately, because of this, we won’t be coming back to this location.

As someone who is moderately active and has previous exercise experience, I enjoyed the challenge of Orange theory workouts. They also had good music, good parking options and a studio that is pretty big. I would not recommend though to beginners as, in some classes, trainers would not fully demonstrate the workouts that you are being asked to do and I saw a good amount of people doing the workouts wrong and not being corrected by trainers. This studio also is very full, so you have to book classes many days in advance to come take a class. Also, because of the large amount of people that go, it makes it even harder for beginners to be corrected on form when doing workouts. While I enjoyed Orange theory, I recommend a smaller studio is you’re a beginner (Saugus is great). If you know what you’re doing and want to be motivated by seeing other active people hit some high workout goals, this may be your place.

Absolutely love CycleBar! I wish I had join way before I did. Doesn’t matter the class or instructor you will get a great workout. Though can’t miss Leah’s class- she is one of the absolute best instructors I have had! Always a killer class! The staff is friendly and the studio is immaculate. The leadership is always there to help you with anything you need or are concerned about. Can’t wait to keep riding at CycleBar - Assembly!

So I will start off my saying the instructor was very motivating and actually made the class fun. The rest of this review isn’t placing full blame on Cycle Bar, but rather to hopefully spread awareness in case any first time cyclers read the reviews. I took a class Sunday afternoon, and although I was in the saddle more than some other people, I felt that I challenged myself an appropriate amount. Immediately after class I could barely walk without my legs giving out, but I thought I was just very fatigued. The next day I ended up in the ER with Rhabdomyolysis and have been in the hospital for four days and counting. If you do research on rhabdo you will find that it causes muscle loss, muscle fibers going into your bloodstream and in some cases, including mine, can be fatal if left untreated. And again I’m not putting full blame on the studio, however since being in the hospital I have heard countless stories from nurses and doctors about how taking a cycling class for the first time has put people in my situation, so it’s not uncommon at all. I was asked multiple times in the studio if it was my first time cycling and I answered yes everytime. I think it wouldn’t be harmful for staff to be properly informed about the possibility of this happening and to inform first time cyclers that they might want to dial back even further than they feel necessary. Even though people should do their own research, signing up for something that is supposed to benefit you, like a workout class, does not prompt people (or at least me) to look into serious medical contritions like this. Again not placing blame on the studio or the staff, just want to spread some awareness so hopefully someone can avoid the shitty situation I have been placed in.

I love cyclebar! Even when i was in Cali. I had to find cyclebar over there! The staff and Shannon are amazingly so warm and friendly. Leah class is the killer! I wouldn’t miss her Sunday class. She definitely has amazing energy and motivated everyone in the class. I always came out drenched with sweat and it’s so worth it!!!

I can’t recommend spinning at CycleBar Assembly Row enough! The studio itself is in a fantastic location super close to the T and also right near free parking. You’re always greeted by the friendly front door staff, who keep the studio running smoothly and helping with anything you need. The instructors are fantastic - whether it’s a theme ride or a normal ride, the music is always unreal and the best time and they create such a great community in each class. I especially love the Connect ride with its fast speeds, out of the saddle jogs, and fun choreo! Even though I live 30+ minutes away, it’s so worth it coming to CycleBar to work out!!!!

Newer to the area but absolutely made the right choice to join CycleBar Assembly Row as a transplant from CycleBar GreenGate in Virginia. The front desk staff are friendly, and the instructors are fantastic (shout out Allie & Anna's 7am MWF classes)! The music and energy are electric as you would expect in the CycleBar universe. The best spin option around!

not ideal, you pay premium, uneven numbered stickers to level safety pins, new quad machine janky. Very limited hours unless you pay extra. Even more to use half of the rest of gym. You'll get blocked in during busy times too.

Gym has the best staff and vibe of any gym I've belong to. Very inclusive environment for all lifters. Highly recommend.

So great to have connected with the nice folks at Rx Strength Training when I was visiting this week in the Boston area. All the right equipment and plenty of it. Lots of weightlifting platforms, full sets of plates in either kg or lbs. Very welcoming atmosphere and it was easy to see that the regulars had excellent gym etiquette - even the "fur members", who seemed very comfortable in this gym. Thanks for hosting me when I needed to drop in. Highly recommend!

Unique, exciting programs, and welcoming to all! I was so impressed by my personal training sessions (in kettlebell proficiency) with Jeff. *Absolutely for anyone* looking to grow and evolve their strength training- no matter your level. I’ve been to manyyyyy many gyms all over the Boston-North Shore, and I can’t recommend enough checking it out and finding your focus!

RX Strength Training is an incredible place. Owner Jeff has created a really great culture here. All levels of experience are welcome and everyone will feel like they belong here. I've been in the fitness industry as a coach for almost 2 decades and I can tell you this place is the, if not one of the best gyms in the greater Boston area. Great coaches and this place makes you feel motivated to do work. If I could give more than 5 stars I would. Coach Kenji
