This review is a summary of my wife's and my experience the Bay Club and why, after 12 years, we've left. Price increases. From Jan 2022, our rates (2 members) went up ~64%. Yup, 64%, even paying annually in advance. Since we joined in 2013, it's increased 100%. If you are not a regular gym rat (3-5x per week), the average cost per visit can be a bit daunting (if you miss a month for any reason, that's a nice gift on your part). There is a way to get a somewhat lower price. If you form a "pod" (max of 6), you can get a "family" plan rate. With 6, the lowest rate. This is great (and fair) for real families instead of paying max rates for everyone. But for people not in large families (i.e., my wife and I), to get the lowest rate, you need to recruit 4 people, collect their money and pay Bay Club. If one person (or more) leave, well, your price goes up unless *you* recruit more. If pod members are late paying you, *you* still need to pay the full amount on time. If you are just 2 people, well, your membership just needs to pay more than a random group of 6. Sorry. Second, we've have had charges on our account by individuals at other Bay Clubs (Bay Area and Portland). This happened SIX times over 2 years. It was hard to get the staff to care and took repeated visits to clear the account charges (they literally said this is not our problem but the other clubs issue). My wife had to change the spelling of her last name in her membership in order to stop the charging because our club had *no* other solution. Hmmm. Third, my wife's locker recently got broken into and her wallet was stolen. Not a fun experience. Lastly, the gym dynamic has changed. The gym used to be adults, college age or higher, doing their workouts with space for everyone. With the new family plan in high gear, not just adult pods but families with teens (and their teen friends) are taking advantage. At times it seems like a high school has taken over the gym, especially on the basketball court and some workout areas. It's nice that the parents can drop off their kids in a safe environment, but other adults need to contend with the all the added overcrowding (plus the normal kid behavior). Even mid-day has started to get quite busy! What an odd combination of paying a lot more and getting a lot more crowded workout space. I can't post without mentioning why we stayed as long as we did. Bay Club has many niceties for a gym. It's a huge space, and a wide variety of facilities, such as a lap pool, basketball court, multiple activity rooms. In the general workout rooms, there is a lot of equipment, of various type - it's a little surprising as to how many different types of equipment there can be, but they have it. This variety and scope had been a big reason why we were satisfied members for years and willing to accept the early price increases. The locker rooms are just okay (they are a bit on the old side but clean) but they do have a jacuzzi, steam room and sauna. The final straw was getting that last bill with a 35% increase. Yesterday was our last day and no one from the Bay Club staff reached out to ask why we didn't re-up. It really feels like they don't value their members. Listen to your reviews Bay Club. Make changes.

I truly love this gym but the hours aren’t conducive with a working 9-5 schedule. The weekends are when I run errands and would like to enjoy the gym in the evenings they close Saturdays and Sundays ( most peoples days off) at 7PM! And earlier on Friday nights. I know a lot of members aren’t happy with the hours and I’m sure more members would join if the hours were more flexible! I heard from the front desk they haven’t changed there hours back to normal from COVID DAYS! For 260$ a month the hours should be adjusted expeditiously!

Awful hostile front desk, employees. The man with the thick glasses whom doesn’t wear a name tag (likely against their policies) wouldn’t help or accept gifts for their toy drive. They had an open house/Christmas party “Open House admission free with new, unwrapped toy donation. Guest pass invite for first-time guests who live or work in the area” I recommend people don’t go here. I’m sending an email to their corporate management.

INFLATION!!! I have been a member at this club for two years and they have raised the rates 4 times. I’m paying $260 a month and it’s going up to $275 a month in January 2025. They even charge me $6 for paying with a credit card! Other gyms don’t do that but Club Inflation does! If you’re going to raise rates, at least open the club later on weekends, not 7pm. I have a gut feeling that they are going to raise rates again this year. PROS: 1) Beautiful gym with great amenities and professional Staff 2) Recovery Room has excellent machines for muscular pain 3) Excellent showers and towel service 4) Great workout equipment CONS: 1) Repetitive Price Increases ( paying with credit card has a fee) 2) Club closes early on weekends ( 7 PM) 3) Hard to get in the pool in the evenings with all the kids I would like to thank everyone working in the Recovery Room for always being professional and helpful. Thank you:)

When it comes to Gyms in the South Bay, Bay Club El Segundo is top 2 and it's not 2. I write this to you, my dear reader, dripping in sweat on the spin bike near the Racquetball courts trying to lean out as much as possible before I leave for this Mexico trip tomorrow. I don't even know where to start with this review to be honest. So much to cover. It has been a staple of the community since it was the Sports Connect (or Sports Erect as the locals called it hehehe), then when it was Spectrum, and now Bay Club. I have been a fixture in here ever since the Spectrum days (2005ish) when I was cooking other 9 year olds at the School of Skillz camp that was running in the Clipper Gym, as the Clippers used to practice here. Summers in here used to be like a low budget all star game as there were 2 full indoor basketball courts. I've seen Derek Fisher, James Harden, Lisa Leslie, Andrew Bynum, Klay Thompson, Timofey Mozgov, Devin Fleming, all cook in here over the years, among many others. When Bay Club took ownership and removed one half of the basketball courts, they removed a piece of my soul with it. But that's okay, all good things must come to an end and there is beauty in that. When I lost the basketball bug my junior year of high school (due to getting cut from the basketball team haha) I coped by picking up the weights. The weight room in here is idyllic as there are plenty of bench presses, squat racks, machines, dumbbells, pull up bars, open spaces, etc. Seldom have I ever had to wait for a bench press in here, which is a luxury I didn't understand in my youth. That was a rude awakening when I got to college. Once I realized that girls really don't care about how your body looks as long as you are in decent shape, my passion for picking up weights and putting them down withered. I signed up for a half ironman because I figured I'm in the gym all this time, may as well put it towards some sort of end goal. I then did my 4 month crash course in ironman training in Bay Club, rotating from the olympic sized pool, to the spin bike, to the treadmill for 6 days a week. It was hell, but it was my chosen form of hell and I felt like a world champion when I completed that half ironman. All this to say, this place has seen this young chimp become a full grown gorilla and has been there for me through all 3 phases of my workout journey. What more could I possibly ask for in a gym? Oh you thought I was going to end this review without shouting out my boy Ray, who has been holding it down at the front desk for YEARS? Well think again, my dear reader. Ray used to have to kick us out of the gym when closing time came as we’d be begging “Please Ray it’s next basket wins just one more basket” as he would stand there and begrudgingly oblige. Ray is honestly the best employee I could ever imagine, nothing gets by Ray. You wanna sneak a homie in when Ray isn't looking? GOOD LUCK. Best to just come back on another day I promise, we never got by Ray. Y'all need to pay Ray more, man I love Ray. IG @jnov_ Tiktok @jnov__

I’ve been an OTF member before joining the El Segundo location, and keep coming back for the amazing workouts! The staff here is fantastic; they always greet me with a warm welcome and a smile. When I joined in April, Steven took extra time to explain the different memberships and patiently answered all my questions, especially since it had been over a year since I was last in the studio. The warm and inviting atmosphere keeps me motivated every time I visit. Plus, there’s plenty of parking—you might just have to walk a little (which is a good warm-up!). Highly recommend this location!

Love this location. The coaches, staff, members, equipment, … all great! They have accommodated me for several personal issues that have come up and have always made me feel like a valuable customer. They are always available when I call. They have reasonable policies that serve everyone and make for a more enjoyable experience for the group. They are welcoming to every and anyone who walks through their doors.

The exercise class itself is great, but the staff at this location is difficult. I sprained my foot and got covid and, because I called and let them know I had covid towards the end of being sick (rather than at the beginning), my choices are to either go to 4 classes a week or just lose the money. I was criticized for calling when I did (rather than at the beginning of being ill). Rather than blaming me for why the studio can't do anything to help; they should thank sick members for not showing up ill and be able to work with clients so that they can actually enjoy and use their membership, even with minor illness and injury. If you sign up, you're just asking to lose money. In response to the owner’s response: 1. I was eventually given 4 classes, and that was nice, but that doesn’t undo the fact that I do not want to show up to the studio because the manager was so incredibly rude to me. No one deserves to feel bullied by the staff of a fitness studio. I even skipped the social event I paid $100 to attend because she made me feel so uncomfortable. 2. I do not feel confortable emailing the manager email address because it is the manager who’s treating me/presumptively others like this.

Terrible studio. Do not go here. Was in from out of town for work don’t know the area took a Lyft to the studio and was 7 minutes past the time to get into class. Steven wouldn’t let me In and was rude and treated me poorly. Hopefully you don’t have to deal with him. I used to be a coach at OTF and it’s a terrible place to work too. Do not go to this studio.

Absolutely love every class with Heather at Barry's South Bay! She brings such incredible energy and positivity that you can't help but feel motivated from the moment you step into the room. Her enthusiasm is contagious, and she pushes you to give your best while making it fun. Heather is not only a fantastic instructor but also a genuine person who takes the time to connect with everyone, offering encouragement and support. I'm so grateful for her dedication and the effort she puts into each class. Thanks to Heather, I always leave feeling stronger and inspired! She's truly a gem in the Barry's community and is going to change so many peoples lives (and bodies) through fitness!

Great energy and vibe. Moves were tough but perfectly timed. I felt like I got the most out of every move. The transitions allowed me to give my all at the right time and find respite when I was about to burn out. Loved it.

I've been going to Barry's for over a year and it never gets old. I highly recommend taking Galya's classes, but all the trainers are great you can't really go wrong!

I took Steffan's class on 10/22. Amazing. His cues are easy to understand and effective. He speaks from years of experience and leads a hard and fun class. The staff was warm and welcoming. The changing room/showers are clean and well stocked. 10 out of 10.

Heather is awesome! She has great energy, is very clear in what the class should be doing, and plays great music. She's exactly what you want out of a Barry's instructor 💪🏼

Great gym been going here for about a year now, always clean never really gets full, has all the major equipment you need and then some even a punching bag. Bathrooms are super clean, working and always stocked up. The manager and everyone working here are really nice and welcoming; gym size not to big not too small which is perfect!

This gym is an absolute disgrace! How can a facility that charges premium membership fees fail to provide something as basic as hot water consistently? Half the time, clients are left shivering under icy showers after a workout, which is not only uncomfortable but downright unacceptable. It’s insulting to pay for a service that can’t even meet basic hygiene needs. Management’s lack of urgency to fix this ongoing issue shows blatant disregard for their members’ comfort and health. If you’re considering joining, save yourself the frustration and look for a gym that respects its clients enough to provide a hot shower—it’s the bare minimum!

Great gym, friendly and helpful staff. KC is a great coach who always had a killer workout ready and pushed me to challenge myself in my strength training. She actually made working out fun and always celebrated my small victories! Really happy with the progress I’ve made with KC as my coach. I was new to the gym setting and intimidated by lifting weights and using all the machines, but she made me feel so much more confident and comfortable holding my own at the gym when we weren’t meeting for a training session. P.s KC stands for killer coach 😆💪

This was the first gym I ever applied for a membership and I’m so glad I found this one. As soon as I stepped inside for the first time, Gazel, the manager at this location, was there to greet me, help me setup my membership and then show me around the place. It is a smaller gym but it has everything I need and the time I go, I never usually have trouble using the equipment I need for the day. I don’t see myself moving to any other gym anytime soon.

Not the biggest gym but has most of the necessities and more (Smith machine, 3 barbell racks, full dumbell racks, cable machine, etc). It has a good amount of people coming through everyday but it doesn't get TOO crowded. It has an even flow to people leaving and coming in. I usually come in mid morning or early afternoon and can do my routines in an hour or so. Staff is always friendly and cleaning up. Gym is quite clean which I like and plenty of antibacterial wipes to polish equipment with once you're done. There's usually parking on this lot and active turnover with spots so you're not endlessly circling around looking for one. Happy with this gym and staying here as long as I can.

First time here. A friend and coworker dragged me here after completing a 2 hour workout at a regular gym. I survived. The workout is intense. Attractive people and in great spirits. I love the atmosphere. Will definitely attend more classes.

Came here and tried the class once. The class was high energy with booming music and everyone had a great workout. The front desk was not very friendly and had this stuck up attitude that seemed hard to erase. Cycling road shoes are required, if not it's a $4 rental.

If you're looking for a dance party on a bike and a physical, emotional, and mental journey, then SoulCycle is the place to be. SoulCycle provides you the means to have fun but also to push yourself. I love coming to SoulCycle because I feel good doing it. I’m by no means a professional, nor am I even close, but there’s no judgment, and no one cares about all that. The instructors push you and get you through it. The music and the ambiance in the room moves you and helps you complete the journey. It is such a good workout, and by the end of it, you’re exhausted and dripping with sweat, but you’re also proud of yourself for doing it and getting it done. The staff there is accommodating when checking in and adjusting your bike to fit your comfort. The instructors are very uplifting and guide you on your bike journey. The restrooms are always clean and are in excellent condition. They have lockers to keep your belongings safe. So what are you waiting for?

First time at SoulCycle - I really appreciated the dimmed room because I was not ready for 45 minutes of pure heart pumping agony. Don’t get me wrong I really enjoyed the work out but be ready to worrrk and push yourself to your mental limits. The instructor was motivational and had soo much energy that I’m convinced I finished the workout purely by feeding off his vibes. Front desk staff was helpful and efficient! I recommend arriving a few minutes early to find parking as it can get crowded at The Point.

Great place to push past your limits! The room is little dimmed so even if it’s your first time or you don’t want people to see how sweaty you get or etc you’re not that exposed. Everyone is friendly and helpful. They help you set up your bike and with any other concerns you have. The place is well kept. Parking is crazy! You really need to head to class about 30-45 minutes to get close parking, if both you can always find parking further away.
