The facility isn’t bad even though they gotta start rid of equipment that was very useful. First thing happened when they took money out my account for payments that I didn’t have to make. They let a bunch of little kids in the gym and stuff gets stolen. iPhone have been left to charge and nothing happened when all adults. But they let the kids and all hell breaks loose. Good workouts bad experiences.

The Roxbury YMCA is a great facility for my exercise and fitness needs and has great programs for seniors. The personnel at the front desk are very courteous, professional, competent and extremely helpful.

Wonderful soccer session with Coach Kazimbe & Coach Kenneth — it was like my kids were being trained as professionals, learned the importance of stamina/what it means to be in shape & appreciated that this session taught the fundamentals with such high expectations. They weren’t babied & were really challenged, my sons said, & that’s why they both loved coming. Plus, the staff at the Roxbury Y is so friendly & welcoming - love this Y & looking for other sports for my kids.

Summer 2023 was my first year at Roxbury YMCA and my son (age 6) had a phenomenal time. The staff was very nice, the curriculum was one that he even enjoyed & I was pleasantly surprised at. Being in the pool everyday & going on field trips wore him out and allowed him to sleep well at night. At the end of the program I made sure to double check with the director that I would be contacted next summer as this will be my go to summer academy for my son until he ages out. I can truly say we both loved our experience.

Everyone on staff is amazing with the kids! Mr.Johvon and Ms. Clarissa are amazing with the toddlers! They are patient, funny, kind, and well versed in how to deal with young children all day and what will help them thrive and develop! We love it here!

Absolutely love this gym!! The atmosphere & gym itself is a BIG motivation for me to keep coming back. From the moment I walked in 2 months ago I felt like family and welcomed into the 1 more rep community. Was given a tour and shared my goals/limitations with all the trainers which they are mindful of everytime I come in. I highly appreciate that and sometimes would suggest workouts for me to do. They have everything you need for your work out & more, even food! Better Bodies is located inside so I love that I can get a pre workout if I forget my own, or even a protein/high calorie shake or muscle recovery drink before I go. I can go on but just goes to show how much I appreciate this gym and their services to the community. Truly a gem located in Roxbury you won’t regret signing up!

This is the coolest gym i ever been it’s locally owned it’s have really great vibes family / neighborhood atmosphere everyone there the people who work there and the people who train are super nice it’s best place in the city to train or learn Muay Thai and Thai Kickboxing the teacher / coach AKA the professor Xavier I would confidently guess is one of if not the top teacher in Boston area he trained and fought few years in Thailand

Best gym I’ve ever been to. Owner is always around and one of the nicest people I’ve met, he goes out of his way to motivate you and help you. The gym and people look a little intimidating at first as it feels like a MMA/boxing gym, with an all black theme (super cool and fits the aura of the gym), but there is not a single person here (especially trainers) who isn’t willing to drop their stuff and help you. Made some good friends here, 100/10 would recommend.

Hands down, the BEST gym in Boston. Super dope and unique equipment aside, your experience here will literally make you never want to go anywhere else. If you're looking for a place where the vibes are just always positive, always warm and welcoming AND the satisfaction of having pushed hard as soon as you walk out: 1 More Rep is it and more. I've been coming here since 2019 and I've grown so much. In knowledge, in strength, in respect for myself and others who work so hard every single day to reach new heights. I don't think I'll ever find a gym this amazing and if you're thinking about trying it, I'm telling you - give it a chance. All levels are welcome and like all things, if you stick to it, you WILL see the change you're looking for 😉 ~ Positive vibes only ~ P.s. Get to know Jose Lora, Allen, Michelle and so many more - they are all some of the coolest people 🙏🏽👊🏽

Very nice indoor track they host lots of meets and are fully accommodated to hosting large meets they have a big screen for results and lots of seating along with a basketball court track shot put high jump and long jump. They have vending machines and a concession stand plus a gift shop. It’s in a good location with parking near. Track meets here have always been good.

Great place to practice running 🏃‍♀️..Karate and just having fun with the family...location is always great..right in the heartbeat 💓 of the inner city.

I would love to give them five stars, because the facility itself is beautiful and exactly what is necessary for our cheer competition. However, they won’t allow food or drink inside the main field house, and I, as one of the head coaches and coordinator of my cheer organization, am here all day. When I say, all day, I mean from 11 AM to 9 PM and I am not allowed to eat because they don’t allow food inside the field house. In addition, if you go to get a water out of the vending machine, they are either empty or they don’t work properly. It is a long day and they don’t make it comfortable! In addition to myself, sometimes the girls are here for an extended amount of time, and the fact that they don’t allow food inside makes it very difficult.

Not terrible to find equipment to workout on even at peak times 6-9pm. It is busy, but folks don't mind sharing in between sets. And also it's a proverbial city-gym the members are kind and treat everyone respectfully.

It’s a nice gym with lots of equipments and parking spaces. The staffs are friendly and it’s relatively clean. However, I hate how hard it is to leave to the gym, it’s a nice location to get to but leaving gives me a heart attack each time because I have to get through like 4 busy lanes in a very short distance to get home. This is why I’d go the bsc/crunch down street even though it’s smaller and more expensive. Wish there is an easier way to leave.

It's the best planet fitness I've been around Boston. Big, nice view, air quality is good. The only problem is some noisy latino customers on the second floor, yelling at each other, talking loudly on phone.... the usual.

It is a great location with respectful staff, cordial members. The environment is positive and extremely clean. The culture is one of respect for the equipment, members and staff. If I were to offer this location a grade it would be an “A.”

I really like this place because it has many machines. Also, almost every person there is just to work out and not shoot videos or get attention. However, you're a HEAVY LIFTER, then this isn't the place for you. Another issue is that it can get crowded at certain times so schedul accordingly.

Great workout, and a welcoming staff. However they will renew your membership without your approval and charge your card as well. They've tried billing me for 7 months straight. I wonder when they'll get the hint.....

I have always liked this place - I had not been there for a few years but I went there this weekend and I was again very pleased. I am super new to yoga even though I have done maybe 15-20 sessions in my life. So from the perspective of someone that has no clue how to do things right and wants it for the relaxation part more than anything, this worked - the instructor - Courtney, was all about being with yourself and not necessarily checking if directions are followed on the dot.

They have a few good instructors but the room is too cramped. It can hardly accommodate 20 to 25 people comfortably but they have set the limit insanely upto 33 people in that room which compromises the quality.

Been going to Power Yoga every week and love it so much! Open Doors in Dorchester is my fav studio, the instructors know my name and I couldn’t say anything bad about this place! Highly recommend for hot yoga classs.

My favorite yoga studio in the area! Most classes are heated 85-90 degrees and there is a parking lot in the front, which gets filled up so come early. The studio offers blocks and restraining bands for use during the class. Towels can be rented, water bottles can be bought. I've enjoyed all types of classes here, highly recommend.

I stopped in a few times while visiting family in Boston. The facilities are great and include plenty of options for everyone including some powerlifting and boxing equipment. The staff are also very friendly. I stopped in today around 10:30AM and the staff at the front desk were very helpful and incredibly nice and professional. This gym experience is just another example of why the YMCA is such a great membership!

The woman at the front desk was very unwelcoming and rude on Sunday. Tried to get in after buying a membership and was told to leave because the membership would not be active until after 24 hrs if done online. Went back he second time and after pursuing it again, the card worked and I was let in. Had the same thing happen to an old man before me. He paid, but since there was nothing in the computer, he was told that he's lying. Once I was done with my workout, the lady was adjusting the doors and holding one of them and as I was leaving, she let go of the door and the door slammed into my hand with its metal protrusion. Please work on training the staff to be more welcoming and willing to help or at least not be rude and hold grudges

It's right next to where I stay, so it's easy access to a good gym. They have a pool, workout classes, and a variety of fitness equipment for all levels. Sign up is a breeze, then get started right away. Pick up their monthly activities calendar to stay in the loop.

They need to update their hours. It says opened at 6am I show up at 6:00am and it was about 20 other people standing outside waiting for the gym to open. The gym didn’t open until 20 mins later. If they can’t honor their hours what am I paying so much money for?

I was there many years ago and I remember the place being unclean and unkept with even some bedbugs! I hope they have changed to to be better and clean.

Staff is great! They are always super friendly, helpful, and ready to answer any questions. I’ve been a member since this location was BSC so I went through the transition as well. The new renovations and equipment has been an incredible upgrade. They doubled their dumbbell quantities, added new power racks, back equipment, and some other miscellaneous equipment as well. They also refurbished all the old equipment they kept with new padding and anything else the equipment may have needed. I was honestly nervous about the transition but I’ve been very pleased so far and would recommend anybody to check it out! Just wanted to say again the staff is incredible!! Jacqui is always so warm and welcoming it’s an amazing way to be greeted every day and Reggie answered all my annoying questions about the new equipment. Thanks to the both of you!

My perspective: male focused on hypertrophy-oriented resistance training, Crunch Fitness Dorchester (formerly Boston Sports Club) left me with mixed impressions at best. The Good: - The staff are approachable and generally pleasant - Trial days are offered, helpful for assessing the gym before committing - Dumbbells up to 120lbs, not common at other facilities - Designated parking lot - Space for static stretching - Natural lighting - Weekends not overly crowded - Memberships options include paying more for access to other locations The Bad: - Floor space is dominated by cardio equipment, several machines are frequently out of service - The low ceilings make the gym feel closed-in - Open until 5pm on weekends - Lack of cable attachment options, exiting options are dismal The Ugly: - Membership Structure: While marketed as “no commitment,” the fine print reveals otherwise. Members are charged a ~$75 annual fee alongside the second month’s dues. This fee isn’t mentioned upfront, and the details of the membership contract is bypassed during sign-up. If you cancel within your first month, you’ll still be charged the second month and the annual fee, effectively penalizing you for leaving early. This “no commitment” promise feels misleading and underscores a broader trend in corporate gyms leveraging fees to trap members in unfavorable terms. - Equipment Selection: The range of machines is frustratingly inadequate. There’s no preacher curl machine, no hack squat, no calf raise, and no power racks. Even basic equipment like Olympic barbells (which are bent) and plates are limited, while cable stations are always in use. What machines are available often feel woefully outdated, poorly designed, or gimmicky—particularly the newer machines from Hoist, which sacrifice ergonomics for novelty. - Sanitation: Hygiene standards are disappointing (but improved in recent weeks.) Touchpoints on machines and equipment often leave hands smelling unpleasant after use. I’m usually tolerant of gyms with some wear and tear, but this felt especially poor in that regard. Members rarely clean equipment after use, and the gym’s reliance on spray bottles and paper towels instead of wet wipes seems to encourage this. While Crunch’s acquisition of Boston Sports Club gives some hope for improvement, this location’s private equity ownership makes me skeptical. The Dorchester area has an unfortunate lack of quality gyms, and while this may be one of the better options locally, that’s not saying much. The fitness industry’s trend toward consolidation only exacerbates these issues.

Been a member here since before Crunch bought it. I find the team members who work for there very friendly, helpful, and professional. They did a wonderful job updating all of the large equipment. If I could provide any type of constructive feedback it would be the dumbbell racks to be re-labeled and reorganized - folks kinda mix up the lower weights with the medium weight. Other than that, they almost get an A!

Formerly a BSC, now crunch . Has decent mix of new and old dusty equipment left over from the change . Seemingly seems very busy now but could just be the January crowd. Has its annoying cell phone stand influencers despite having a policy. Oddly enough there adding water massages room ? Or whatever that may be. Better then planet fitness without having to drive to far.

Parking!!!!!! I have been going to this gym for years now. The parking is unreal. They used to monitor the parking lot and tow individuals who parked there while they dined in a nearby restaurant. This is no longer the case especially on weekends. You can watch people walk out of restaurants to their cars when you are trying to find parking and there are clearly signs not to park. I have asked gym staff and they said that they do monitor parking , however I have yet to see it. Former BSC members were given and strongly encouraged to sign a form to avoid increased cost of membership from BSC to crunch. We were told we would be locked in at our current memberdhip rate. They stated in person and on the form that this premier crunch site would be much higher than the current rate of our membership. The rate would be 100-150 a month. This is not that case. I am still paying $50 dollars a month while new members are paying $30 a month. They capitalized on having former BSC members pay more by keeping their old BSC membership. Even when asked about why we are paying more, there is no clear answers. I suggest anyone who was a BSC member and signed this former to go in and rewrite their contract. A few friends of mine have written to the Attorney General of MA and have reported this to the better business bureau.

I can’t say enough good things about Backyahd Boston. The trainers and staff are welcoming and so so knowledgeable, and the community truly feels like home. In every group fitness class I’ve taken here, the exercises are intentional and, despite taking class in a group setting, you’ll get the hands on individualized attention needed to get through the workout strong and safe. I love the variety offered between Strength, Strength & Conditioning, Strength & Mobility, and even yoga! They also provide muscle group focused classes, making it easy to schedule your weeks of strength and ensure to cover all muscle groups. Backyahd has helped me build strength alongside run training, and was an integral part of my training for both a half and full marathon in 2022. Modifications are always offered in classes so it is beginner friendly. I’ve never left feeling anything but amazing after class, and am so grateful for the backyahd that they’ve created for us. Thank you Rob, Lauren, and Laura for this space.

I have been to Backyahd for around three months now and it has been honestly, the best decision. The trainers, staff, and people are the best. I am Deaf myself so I rely on lot of visual communication such as gestures, thumbs up/down, modeling etc. when it comes to lifting, form etc. and the trainers never hesitate to show me the proper way! Best gym in Bos!

I've been going to Backyahd Boston for 1 year now. I use weight training to support my running goals and to become functionaly stronger. I've PR'd the mile, 10K, half, and full marathon as a result of the functional fitness I have gained from Backyahd. This is not a packed room of people sharing weights. This is an appropriately sized fitness class that gives everyone the proper attention from the instructor to build confidence in every exercise in every class. The strength you'll gain from Backyahd will create a better version of yourself. The people you will meet - staff and members - will make you appreciate the welcoming space created for all level of fitness. I'm continuously supported, coached, and motived by this gym to achieve my personal fitness goals.

I have been coming to backyahd for the last 6 months and absolutely love it. The workout is always challenging but built for people of all levels of experience. More importantly, it's a community unlike any other I have been a part of at a gym. The instructors know everyone by name and make an incredible effort to build a relationship with you. They go out of their way to help you improve in each class and are available for questions/advice.

I've been a member at the River Street Planet fitness off and on for a few years now. I really enjoy the friendly greetings from the staff, they are all very nice and helpful. The gym is great and I love the new equipment that has been added, for example the rope and new treadmills. I've seen the positive changes from when I first started working out there. The location is very convenient it's only 10 minutes from my home, and there is lots of free parking. I also, like the early hours that they are open, this gives me time to workout before I head to work. Also, the membership is reasonable. The only thing is that I wish that they had a separate room for women to workout. And a few workout classes like kick boxing, yoga, and female weight lifting classes. Other than that I enjoy Planet fitnes. 😁

If I rated it a few months ago before the cardio 🏃‍♂️💨upgrade I probably wouldn’t give it 5 stars ⭐️ but with the new stairmasters, 📈 treadmills , bikes 🚴 and ropes it has made it a perfect 👍🏾 out of the way gym. I started back in July 2023 and I’m down ⬇️70 plus pounds today thanks to this gym being a 3 min walk and of corse changing my diet but I owe this gym for being a large change in my health life. Sign up for a blackcard membership and bring a friend. Check out the hydro beds for a new experience

This was my favorite PF location but sadly the vast majority of the elliptical machines have been removed. The 4 that remain are clustered unpleasantly close together. Exploring other gyms in the area.

This location is great. Very clean. The staff is helpful. This location's members actually go and workout. You rarely see someone sitting on a machine on the phone or even worse, that one member that grabs all the weights and uses an incline branch to rest her water and phone..

The staff was always great at this location, but I've been trying to cancel my membership for months and I keep being billed. I have requested to cancel once in person, once via email, and once via mail- each attempt one month apart. I am still being charged every month. Had I known how often this happens when people try to cancel, I never would have joined PF. Apparently people have sucess sending a request via certified mail, so I'll try that this month. Hopefully the 4th time will be the charm.

Great ride, fun energetic playlist and lots of sweat! LOVE the water station! I also want to compliment the front desk staff from today. They had so much hustle and kept busy between class changes to keep things clean. My cleat clip on my bike was loose and they were there quickly to get it right so that I had a perfect ride! 🥰🥰🥰 When I am back in town or near another location - def taking another Ride!

Best Spin Studio Ever! I’ve taken spin classes all over Boston and even while traveling the world, and I can confidently say this studio is by far the best. The instructors are incredibly motivating, the playlists are unbeatable, and the facilities are top-notch. Plus, the whey protein shake at the end is the perfect finishing touch. Highly recommend to anyone looking for an exceptional spin experience!

Everything with Trey was fabulous - I've been dying to take his class for ages and the timing with the holiday just happened to work today! Looking forward to the next Monday holiday so I can ride with him again! I really liked the South Boston studio; I was impressed with use of space throughout, and everything was thoughtfully executed when it designed and built.

Bspoke is a great experience. I decided to purchase the 50$ package for unlimited classes for 2 weeks so I could see if Bspoke was a fitness center that I wanted to commit to. So far, I have been to 1 spin class and 1 hot yoga class. Both were challenging, but they were also exactly what I needed. Especially since winter is right around the corner, and I don't want to continue being a couch potatoe. I also do a lot if sitting for my job, which contributed to my weight gain as well. The fitness center staff are very nice, and the environment os pretty welcoming for new comers. The playlists and the ambiance inside the cycling and yoga rooms are very cool. The vibes are extremely positive, and Im glad I decided to try it out. After the 2 weeks, I plan to become a member.

I’m so incredibly impressed by the caliber of this studio! I recently trialed B/SPOKE’s two week pass at both the Cape House location (equally amazing) and the South Boston location. The pass is a great value to try the studio (2 weeks for $50). The studio: It’s clean and beautiful. The rooms are dark, have plushy mats and towels provided and the infrared heat and lighting feels amazing. The dark room is awesome. I love that they have hair elastics, bandaids and earplugs readily available. Their product suite is Mrs Meyers and they have a sensitive skin face wash which I never see at studios and always need after class. All high end choices and always fully stocked. The people: The front desk staff is so nice and super helpful! Honestly, above and beyond. I had one billing question and through email the team was incredibly generous and helpful and I was so impressed!. The classes: The spin classes were awesome. I loved the bikes and that shoes were provided to rent without surcharge. I especially loved Lo’s and Monica’s classes. I really enjoyed Claire’s and Brittany’s yoga classes. The yoga here is a 45 minute vinyasa flow. If I were to make one suggestion I wish they had a sculpt variety of yoga on the schedule - the studio would lend so nicely to this! I appreciated the option to take strength classes, but they didn’t work as well for me due to prior sports injuries. Overall an amazing experience. They also have free community rides to try the studio which is a nice inclusive touch. My only pause with committing to a full membership is the cost per class. I attend studios very regularly and from a cost effective perspective am always looking for an unlimited class monthly option which isn’t offered at this time. I will be on the lookout if that is ever offered it would be very well received!

plenty of room even on busy days and definitely a cleaner cut crowd. Haven’t been to all the PF locations but out of the three i’ve gone to so far, east Boston one is definitely my favorite

Great management, Clean and great equipments. Wonderful staff, always friendly! I love the fact that it's open 24 hours 5 days a week. Highly recommended. I want to share how much I love Planet Fitness in East Boston, especially because of the amazing people at the front desk. Let me start by mentioning Luis and Julie first. Their professionalism and great attitude have made my experience at Planet Fitness in East Boston so much better. They are both valuable assets to this company. I have also received wonderful and positive attitudes from Mikey, Tyrell, Devin, and Ximena. Their welcoming nature has made my visits to the club a pleasure. The club is clean, and I love its setup. Thank you, Planet Fitness, for having these amazing people working for you!

CURRENT REVIEW: This gym has returned to propaganda central! Change the TVs to something neutral or inspiring for exercise please! 👎 THIRD REVIEW: it appears they have reverted back to mostly CNN and sports. I am a non-partisan/independent so I would appreciate balanced news reporting or none at all on the TVs. Thanks! PLEASE LIKE THIS REVIEW TO GET THIS FIXED 🙏 SECOND REVIEW: it looks like they actually listened to my feedback! Five stars. Thank you very much for listening to feedback. FIRST REVIEW: I really like this gym but they need to turn off the TV news channels bombarding us with negativity as we workout. Once they do, I will change this review to 5/5. Thank you.

Just recently re-opened after renovation. The space is nice with plenty of new machines, a specific 30-miute workout area/routine with a light to guide the timing, a stretching area, many bikes and treadmills. The cost is probably as low as it gets in terms of gyms honestly, so not a bad deal at all. For a little more money ($25 instea dof $10) one gets access to some massaging chairs, tanning beds (bot sure why haha), and red light therapy machines. One also gets access to other locations worldwide and possibility to bring a guest, so really not a bad deal! Everyone gets access to lockers, bathrooms, and showers, but no towel service.

My favorite thing to say about the East Boston YMCA is that the staff is outstanding Walking into a fitness facility has always been a challenge for me, however when I rejoined this past December I was greeted and warmly welcomed back by Kelly, her smile and personality made it possible for me to think, I’ll be ok here Yesterday I stopped by and was greeted by Oscar, his smile and conversation led me to believe I could try a Zumba class or any class and be ok It’s people like Kelly and Oscar that make the East Boston YMCA the best choice for me

There should be a 0 star option. Not a real ymca, staff totally unhelpful and rude; and refuse to give a schedule or more information on the place. Staff was like talking to an automated phone system but she appeared to be a real human. Don't go here, seriously.

Excellent but I would like them to have longer hours for those of us who leave work late, it is the best.
