I can't say enough good things about GB Cypress! From the very first class, I could tell that the head instructor, who is also the business owner, has dedicated a majority of his life to mastering his craft by learning from various top-tier instructors. His passion and deep knowledge in both Jiu-Jitsu and Muay Thai are evident in every session. What really sets this gym apart is how much he values the students' opinions and overall happiness. You can truly feel that he cares about everyone’s progress, making it an incredibly welcoming and encouraging environment. The fact that he leads both the Jiu-Jitsu and Muay Thai programs makes it seamless to ask questions and explore how to blend techniques effectively, creating a true mixed martial arts experience that enriches you both physically and mentally. Whether you're a beginner or experienced martial artist, GB Cypress offers an outstanding atmosphere for growth and improvement. Highly recommend!

We love this school. Professor Joaquin and all of the instructors/coaches are great. They are always positive, helpful, and encouraging of the students. There are many classes to choose from each week to help accommodate our busy schedule. The quality of instruction is very high, and the coach-to-student ratio is excellent. The classes are challenging and expectations are high, but Professor and the coaches are always actively watching and instructing the students. My son looks forward to his classes every week. Highly recommend this school!

I found out my friend and co-worker also trains in BJJ. He invited me to train at at GB Cypress. I finally had time to make a class and it was fantastic! The academy is very technical, the professor focused on the technique and safety when applying higher level submissions. I already recommend this place to a friend. Thanks to Professor Joaquinm Garay and the students for the great training.

My daughter recently started classes here and I am so impressed by the structure and positive energy. Class starts right on time with a friendly greeting and warm-up. After warm-up, the kids go straight into takedowns. It's so smart to do this first when the kids may be a bit wiggly. The next part of class requires the kids to pay careful attention, which they are ready to do because they've just burned lots of energy with takedowns. Professor Joaquin's explanations are clear and brief, and he repeats them and demonstrates them with a coach several times before the kids try them on their own. Once the kids are practicing on their own, Professor Joaquin and several other coaches move around the room giving tips and feedback. This means that several sets of eyes are on each pair and that they are receiving lots of varied feedback. The kids stay with the same partner throughout the entire class - smart, because asking them to find/assigning them a new partner for each new activity would take up a lot of time. I like how the professor and coaches tell the kids what TO DO rather than what not to do...their expectations of the kids are high and the class is very structured, but always in a very positive way. Every minute is productive, and the class flows in a way that gives the kids no opportunity to get off track/fool around. This means the professor can be positive and spend his time teaching them rather than working to regain their attention.
