I recently visited Philadelphia Rock Gyms - Wyncote, and while it was an overall fine experience, there were a few things that stood out, especially based on feedback from my more seasoned rock-climber friends. Firstly, my friends, who are avid climbers, weren't overly impressed with the gym. One thing they pointed out was the rental shoes, which apparently aren't the best for more complex climbs. So, if you're looking to tackle more challenging routes, the shoes might hold you back. The gym uses taped routes which caused some confusion for us at times. It wasn't always clear which path to follow, and this added a layer of frustration to the climb. Another thing my friends mentioned was that some of the routes had pieces that were heavily chalked up, meaning that they weren't cleaned or updated frequently. From my perspective as someone new to climbing, the experience was decent. However, for more serious climbers, there might be better gyms out there that offer clearer routes and more well-maintained equipment. All in all, it's not a bad spot, but it could benefit from some improvements in terms of modernization and upkeep.

I'm fairly new to rock climbing. My husband and I go here to boulder, and we love it. The routes change often and they are challenging and fun. Staff is super friendly and supportive, as are fellow climbers. So glad it's here.

Came here for date night with a Groupon and had a blast. The staff explained everything quickly and ensured we were comfortable with the equipment then let us climb. The walls were all pretty challenging for a beginner. The East Falls location has a better variety of courses but this was a fun activity.

Very nice facility! There are a lot of routes for all levels of experience. The membership is a steal with free rentals and other benefits! They have a weight room with dumbbells, cable machine, and cardio equipment. The bathrooms have a shower and lockers. The PRG Wyncote team are so kind and excited to help anyone who needs it! I’ve been going here for about three months for summer break and it’s been a great way to stay in shape and relax! It also doesn’t get super busy even on weekends.

As a beginner, I couldn’t be happier with my experience at PRG! The staff made me feel welcome and supported from the moment I walked through their doors. There’s a lot of climbing walls and routes that vary in difficulty, which is perfect for someone just starting out! The community is also great— super friendly and inclusive! I’m looking forward to continuing to grow as a climber and I highly recommend PRG Wyncote to anyone, whether a beginner like me or someone looking to improve their skills.
