I teach and practice at Philadelphia Ashtanga Yoga, and I just have to say— this community is so special. Melissa has done an incredible job creating and fostering a welcoming, supportive community. No matter your experience level or your goals— being a part of this community will inspire and motivate you. I know for me, I am inspired daily. If you’re new to yoga (or new to Ashtanga yoga)— I’d recommend starting with the Ashtanga 101 course or ANY of our Mysore classes on the schedule! The teachers will meet you where you are, and teach you step by step. If you’re local to Blue Bell, join us in person. Otherwise, join us online!

If you're new to yoga or just looking for a different experience, check out a class at Philadelphia Ashtanga Yoga. I've been practicing here for almost 2 years now and it's really changed my life. I found the studio when I was looking for a consistent practice and community. After one class, I could tell Ashley, Melissa, and Amy would give me the support I needed to begin my yoga journey. While I'd never done Ashtanga-style yoga, I found that the poses' repetition gave me something to work on and helped me become more focused. No matter where you are in your yoga or fitness journey, the teachers will meet you where you are and you'll find that the benefits of this practice improve both your physical and mental health. Since I can't always make it to the shala, I practice on Zoom multiple times a week and it helps me stay accountable. I love this community!

I cannot say enough good things about Philadelphia Ashtanga Yoga. If you're on the fence about trying Ashtanga Yoga, or looking for a differrent studio, you have to try here. I hardly write reviews, but PA Yoga is definitely worth it. The teachers are extremely welcoming, kind, professional, and personable with a wealth of knowledge. Ashley, Amy, and Melissa actually meet you where you are and individualize their guidance to you. The community they are building is also friendly and welcoming to new students and doesn't give off any vibes of cliques. As a new student with no experience in Ashtanga, I was worried and intimidated about practicing in a way that is so different than a modern vinyasa flow class. However, after my first few classes, I think I am hooked and like this form even better. You can really have control of your own practice and make it your own with the support and guidance of Melissa, Ashley, and Amy. It's a great experience overall; I'm very glad I found this studio. Edited to add: If you're nervous about starting a new practice, the Intro 101 course they offer throughout the year is a really great opportunity to learn Ashtanga as a beginner.

I am so grateful to have found Philly Ashtanga, Melissa, Ashley and Amy as I stumbled back to my mat after a hiatus. You could not ask for a more welcoming or more authentic mysore experience. The community Melissa has gathered is a testament to her talent, discipline and compassion as a true yogi. The studio will embrace you whether you are new to mysore or a seasoned practitioner -- and will help you find that daily path between challenging yourself and finding grace and kindness to yourself. If you are a person who loves and needs mysore, Melissa will help keep you on that mat!
