I've coached youth basketball for 20+ years. This is the best run league and facility I've been to. Brandon is fantastic. Great environment. Player/child safety is a priority. Facility and the court floor is always clean. Once we started this league we left the other's behind. Keep up the good work!

Played in a tournament here this past weekend and the experience from the directory was a disaster. I’m very familiar with the basketball community coaches, refs etc, & this particular ref that refs my team every Sunday just so happen to be the ref. With that being said the game was intense the fans was overwhelmed and were saying things about the officiating on both sides. So the team were playing against one of the players shoved one of my players to the ground. Obviously this wasn’t a basketball play so my players parent stood up and said “ Ay man that’s not a basketball play you need to do better with foul calls”. The ref replied and said what he said and that was the end of it, so as the game goes on the other team crowd would say your trash to the ref everytime he called a foul for us. As the game ends and we win the ref is walking back to the officiating room and again the losing team was saying vulgar things to him. So After the game like normal I check the bracket to see the next game time, and it said we had lost the game but in reality we won. So I walk up to the director Brian and let him know it was a mistake we won the game, he replied ok and left it at that ,next thing I know the bracket was fixed! So about 15 mins has passed by and I’m talking amongst other coaches waiting on the next game and Brian the director comes up and ask to speak to me. I replied yea what’s going on, he informed me that “if my parents act like that again and walk onto the court and threatening the ref he will forfeit the team”.! Unknowingly what he was talking about because it was a NORMAL intense game I replied in what way? He replied threatening my refs walking onto the court , I stopped him and said nobody threaten the ref I know him personally and did you address the “PARENT” who did as well as the other team? His replay was this isn’t a debate! Excuse me I don’t know what planet he lives on but your def not talking to a kid and I’m very much going to say what I have to say and your not superior over me to tell me it isn’t a debate! My parents spent their money to watch their kids play like everyone else so as a director to speak to someone like that is unprofessional and disrespectful!! I just spoke to 15 mins prior and had nothing to say and to address me like I did something wrong is totally unacceptable!! So coaches if you spend your money at this establishment make sure your treated with respect because this is an unprofessional place that think they are superior over others!

If Team Griffin Academy is separate from Solid Rick itself then this review should be directed toward that. Although the coach was nice polite and showed respect and sportsmanship our children and team did not progress in the least throughout the season. I’m not sure what was happening during all of the long practice hours put in but I attended several team and skills practices where I personally felt like they were just playing pick up games, gotcha, and run drills nearly every time. Our kids severely struggled with passing and inbounding the entirety of the season and seemingly got worse as the season went on. When teams pressed there were multiple games throughout the season that when a team pressed against us we would go 10+ rounds without a possession. Often times leading to high double digit deficits in the 1st qtr without any answer to that game plan. It was obvious that there was a very lopsided balance of talent on the floor as well so I wouldn’t put all of the blame on coaching however that would lay some or even most of the blame on the league who thought it would be a good idea to put these teams out against this competition. Now for my part I am no coach or previous basketball star but I worked with my son weekly and we put him through other skills camps where we did see improvement. Now solid rock charges upwards of $300 a month for what only seems as the ability to say you can claim you play for solid rocks league team although I would be embarrassed of the results that are posted here, however we played multiple teams from other leagues that we’ve been a part of and they charge much less and yes they were teams that played competitively when we were with them but dominated Team Griffin Academy. I honestly believe that they had a coach willing to participate and filled the team for financial purposes only. Seriously with no intention of providing the benefits. Just disgraceful stuff. It was also expressed that sportsmanship would be strictly enforced and anyone that fell outside of the standards would be asked to leave but we witnessed on multiple occasions instances specifically discussed in the standards of conduct where absolutely nothing was done to correct it including an actual shouting match between a coach and ref. Now I will say that took place in another facility which is another issue itself where even though you intend to play in Solid Ricks facilities that rarely actually happens. This did not exclude our team where we had an individual that would absolutely loose his temper and aggressively foul and throw tantrums on the court. He was actually a very good player and his frustration was very understandable but his actions should have had him removed from the court multiple times but the coach clearly knew that would have poor results on the scoreboard and even said as much on the one occasion when I spoke to him about the sportsmanship on the court after a child punched my son in the gut after a game. That kid eventually quit himself which didn’t alter the results in the least. Needless to say overall this was a bad experience that lead to this review. I am very skeptical now of what Solid Rocks intentions are now and will not be participating in this fraud again. This would have been a one if not for the commission and friendliness of the coach. Just wished there would have been any sign of team improvement at some point.

We love Solid Rock basketball. We’ve seen a tremendous improvement in our son’s skills and abilities since he’s started there. Friendly staff and excellent officiating cap off the great experience.
