Any of the classes I’ve taken at the Melrose Y are great . The new renovations added are a plus for this facility. All the employees are kind and friendly. A great place for your indoor exercise regimen

A truly great YMCA. Clean, well maintained, and renovated facility. Excellent staff. Great energy in the place. So many classes to choose from including yoga every day with great instructors and full classes. Drop-in pickleball and basketball are held regularly in the gym. Plenty of open swim in the pool and there is a new sauna for cool down next to the pool. You can't beat the value for the money.

A place for community. They serve people of many dynamics. I am a breast cancer survivor and participated in the Livestrong Program. So many miracles happened through the program and it opened the doors for many opportunities for my family. Thank you YMCA.

the YMCA in Melrose has recently remodeled their fitness center and honestly, I haven't been to a nicer facility. They have a very wide range of free weights and ample cardio and strength machines. I also take a couple of fitness classes, including a strength class and a TRX class. Although I haven't been in the swimming pool in a long time, last I saw it was in great shape, if a little cool (which is just right for swimming laps). And there are lots of available hours for swimming laps. I think there's also a sauna, if that interests you.

Was not notified I wouldn't be able to sit in the pool area during my son's swim lessons until the middle of the third class. At which point I was not able to communicate with my child that I was leaving (not by choice) and would be back. The swim instructor does not enforce safety rules with the students. With three students at the wall while he swims away with one at a time, the three at the wall are out of his reach and sight. They are allowed to swim and move away from the wall when they are in the class to learn to swim to begin with (Stage 1). During the two lessons I was able to sit in, I witnessed many times my son was struggling to keep his head above water while playing away from the wall. The lifeguard nor the swim instructor had eyes on him. All it would've taken was him to lose his toe grip on the pool floor and he would be drowning. So you can imagine my frustration when third class in, now I am not allowed to sit in and potentially be the only one with eyes on my child. At this point I asked what my options were and was told no refunds. I am ok with losing the money and walking away with my child breathing. Do not recommend.
