tl;dr - solid, competition-focused judo program in Flushing I came for a FREE judo camp they were offering which was focused on practical techniques for competition emphasizing entries and subsequent counters. Class size was large but there was ample space for all practitioners and the instructors made sure everyone on the mats were actively engaged. I can say with confidence that this is a great place for judoka looking to hone their craft.

IJC is a great place to practice judo and improve overall health between the technical classes, workouts, and randori sessions. There are also many opportunities to work with people from other dojos through various seminars hosted at IJC.

If you want around 20 or more rounds of randori in a single day…go to IJC. That’s exactly the type of training camp that Saro runs. No nonsense, top-notch technical instruction, and he knows how to push you past what you thought were your limits. Come with a good attitude & a full gallon of water, maybe some electrolytes and you’ll have a good time.

A bunch of us from Kano Martial Arts traveled to IJC for the Adonis Diaz seminar. It's a little out of the way depending on where you're coming from, but worth the trip. The training area is very large (about 10 meters x 20 meters), so there's plenty of space to train and do randori without worrying about bumping into people. The tatami were well maintained with no gaps in between them. The IJC students we trained with were a blast, and the head instructor/owner is was really nice. He recommended some good food places for lunch during the 2-day seminar. The dojo and changing rooms were very clean. Bring sandals if you visit. You will leave your shoes outside of the dojo entrance (there's a shoe rack).

Top-notch instruction, high level training and a friendly, supportive environment. Highly recommend for kids, teens and adults of all levels of experience.
