I love Club Pilates! Low impact works CAN and WILL transform your body! I am a runner and I go to the gym a lot and so I was looking for something different to add into my workout routine and had always been interested in Pilates. I had never been on a reformer and was definitely intrigued by this workout style so I decided to take a free class and I really liked it! I signed up right away and I got a chance to speak with the owner who is VERY friendly! It is definitely a more expensive experience but it’s worth it if you use it and actually want to see a difference in your body. I’ve been trying to get my step mom to join as I really believe this would be such a great and doable workout for her! I’ve been a member for about a month and a half now. I try to go 5/7 days a week and I feel so much stronger already. It is very clean and I really love the lighting. You walk in and lay down and insistently feel calm. (The trainers usually play good music too) :) Every trainer is very different. Some you may love and some you may not love so I would recommend trying them all out and seeing which you like best and then proceed with taking their classes. That was the first thing I did when I joined and I honestly love them all for different reasons. I read the recent reviews about the instructor Angela and I can understand where they are coming from but I LOVE her! She’s very knowledgeable and gives great workouts! I am writing this review because I am the type of person who makes decisions based on reviews and I almost didn’t join Club Pilates because of these reviews but I did anyways and I am so glad I did so give it a shot I bet you will love it!

I rarely write reviews, but I felt compelled to share my experience at Club Pilates due to the awful treatment I received. I had an introductory class scheduled for Saturday, February 10, but called on Friday to reschedule for Monday, February 12. The staff confirmed availability. I arrived on Monday at 12:29 pm, but waited on line and got to the counter at 12:33, I was told I was late and couldn’t join the class due to a strict late policy, despite the email only suggesting arriving early for parking and check-in. I explained I took the day off for this class, and the instructor agreed I could join, but the staff member that returned to the counter rudely denied me entry, and escalated the situation. The woman behind the counter treated me disrespectfully, raising her voice and giving me hostile looks. The other customer in line, a woman, left due to similar mistreatment. I decided to speak with a manager, but the staff continued to speak rudely to me. It felt like we were targeted because both the other customer and I are African American. Meanwhile, a white male customer wasn’t treated the same way. After leaving, I returned to ask for the staff member’s name to file a review, they locked the door. The manager finally unlocked the door but refused to provide her name after I mentioned writing a negative review. I spoke to the owner via text message and even after I explained how badly I was treated, the owner, who wasn’t present at the time, wasn’t apologetic. This experience left me feeling disrespected and unwelcome.

So far loving my experience at this club pilates. I haven’t experienced a class with Angela (lots of negative reviews about her) but I actually came to recommend not taking a class with Melissa. Every class I’ve taken with her she has been so rude and condescending to everyone in the class. Genuinely just seems not happy with what she’s doing. Other than her every instructor has been amazing!

I have been coming to Club Pilates in Bay Shore at least twice a week for all of 2024. I take/have taken classes with Jessica, Angela, Marguerite and Tyler. I think it is good to keep in mind that every person works out differently, takes correction differently and teaches differently. Club Pilates is great because people of all skill levels get access to quality supervision and instruction, but with that said, just like how you didn't like every teacher in school you won't like every instructor at any CP location, so it's important to try different instructors/classes out till you find the one(s) you click with. Like I took one Cardio Sculpt class and KNEW with my whole being those classes aren't for me, but that's not on Melissa. I was possessed to write this review because Angela, while certainly firm and direct, has in my experience provided me with the most meaningful corrections and honest feedback to improve my performance, and I think that her skills, knowledge and expertise in Pilates is really second to none. I have a permanent injury that limits my ability occasionally and while all of the instructors are helpful in offering modifications, Angela has been especially effective in helping me be successful through rough flares ups with my trouble area. When she took month off I genuinely missed her instruction. She has a unique teaching style, and she asks that exercises be done in specific ways, but she doesn't ask for something without explaining why, or offering an alternative if it doesn't/can't work for you. I really enjoy seeing her every Wednesday at 4:30. Her classes offer the widest range of exercises that I've experienced but I think Tyler likes to throw in a good curve ball here and there too. Tyler is newer to Bay Shore, but not new by any means and she wrecks my ish like every other week. Her classes are VERY challenging for level 1 some weeks but I've decided that I'm into it, we all have to grow up sometime I guess. She has been nothing but accommodating and helpful in regards to my condition, which flares a bit more often in her class because I push my limits. I also really like the music she chooses, which may seem silly but it matters. Jessica has fun music as well. Jessica is really just a ray of sunshine, which is good because she does early am classes and she is excellent at hyping me up to that level by the end of class too. She also inspired me to care about my squat form, all I want is to make it through her squat/lunge sets. Her classes are very popular and that makes sense, they are a nice challenging pace and a full range of exercises, there is a lot of consistency which I like in an early am class, you don't have to think too hard. I leave sweaty and full of endorphins every single time. I haven't been to one of Marguerite's classes in awhile because my schedule changed but she much like Jessica was very nice and offered a nicely paced class that went through a good range of exercises. A solid lunchtime class, I miss the mid-day stress relief honestly. All and all Club Pilates is not cheap, but you can get your money's worth very easily. I have two herniated discs in my lower cervical spine along with significant spinal stenosis. I decided to try pilates instead of PT for the 8th time and it has been really good for me. I am starting to notice changes in my physique and I feel a whole lot better. I'd recommend it if you have the time and money :)

I love Club Pilates. All of the instructors have been great, the environment is clean, no complaints. Looking at some of the other reviews I've noticed some bad comments about an instructor named Angela. We were a little bit nervous but I have to tell you she was one of the best Pilates instructors I have had. She is tough and specific, and she will check you... But that's what Pilates is all about. She truly cares about your form and wants everyone to get a great workout. With that said, if you're going for fun, don't go to Angela's class. If you want to challenge yourself and build muscle and knowledge.... Try a class! She was wonderful!
