There are not enough pleasant things to say about this school & the family who runs it. The owners are always compassionate and understanding. Their patience with the kids in the younger class shows their expertise and experience. My kids always look forward to class (even the ones that aren't signed up yet!) They are also extremely accommodating, we travel to Florida many times a year for months at a time and they allow my son to take make up classes to ensure he doesn't fall behind. So to acknowledge the review below me, in the year we have spent with Mayo Academy Ive found them to be nothing but accommodating and hospitable.

I joined Mayo Academy in March of 2024 and it's had a really positive impact on my life. All the coaches and sensei's are great teachers that are very knowledgeable and they push you to keep improving. The community at this academy is great and everyone here is friendly and willing to help you. Sensei Mayo and his wife created a wonderful atmosphere with this gym and if you're looking to learn martial arts in the Queens area then this is a great place to join.

The Mayo Academy is an amazing academy. Being part of this academy it's like being part of a big welcoming family. The dojo is the perfect place for children to strengthen their confidence as well as their bodies. Its a warm, family oriented place that supports development. My son loves coming here. We have been coming here for about 9 months and in this time I have seen my son grow both physically and mentally. He exercises, learns self defense techniques as he makes long lasting friendships.

Great school. All the coaches are very knowledgeable and dedicated to martial arts. The sensai and his wife are extremely kind and understanding. Highly recommend going here to practice any martial arts.

Mayo Academy is great place for kids and adults to learn martial arts. Very family oriented! Our kids have been coming for about a year and have learned so much. We’ve seen them grow both personal and physical. They’ve met new friends, get a great workout and learned self-discipline and hard work. Specially during these last few months with the pandemic, it has given them something to focus on. Would highly recommend it if you’re looking for a place to work out and make lasting friendships. Great addition to the Woodhaven community!
