This was an amazing experience! I was very nervous, and this was certainly a challenge, but the environment was very welcoming to a newcomer. Don't get me wrong, these guys are serious about their craft, but they take their time with you and the intensity really depends on what you want. Overall, it was great for my introduction, next time I'll take it up a bit! Thanks guys!

If you’ve been thinking about trying MMA but don’t know where to start, Coach JD is the man to go see at Shackelfords MMA center. I know trying something new, especially a sport like this, can be intimidating… I think we all experience a little anxiety building up the courage to trying combat sports, but from the moment I walked in I felt welcomed, no ego detected… humble, good hearted people. JD was just awesome, and the instructors were just as great. Self defense, mental health/strength, physical, spiritual… whatever your reason may be for wanting to try the sport out… this is the gym for you and your family. Check em out🤙🏼

Wanted to check out BJJ and I went to a couple place and ended up starting here. They are all great people, and make a new comer extremely comfortable. JD and the other staff there have been so friendly and welcoming. They know their stuff and how to explain what they know. If anyone is ever had the thought to try BJJ come here and try a class, you won't regret it!

A great place doing great things, I am in my 30’s and have never done any form of martial arts or wrestling. I was so nervous going in that I was hesitant to even go through with it. But let me tell you once we got started all of the fear and nerves left me and it was a great time, I’m beyond excited to start this journey with coach JD and would recommend his gym to everyone.

I’ve had an incredible experience at Shackleford’s! The family atmosphere is truly special - the instructors are not only skilled but also incredibly supportive. The sense of community and camaraderie among the students is remarkable. I felt welcomed from day one. If you're looking for a place to learn jiu jitsu and be part of a fantastic family, this is it! 5 stars all the way!

I must say my Daughter has been attending Taekwondo University for over 8 years. Mr Brumley, Mrs Brumley, Jorge and Ashley are some amazing people. This place taught my Daughter not only how to defend herself if needed it also taught her confidence, determination, dedication and how to respect authority. This is just part of the reasons I love this place. My Daughters great grades and the reasons she excels in “everything” she does is because we started her at an early age. Love and Light.

My children went to taekwondo university for a few years. In my opinion I do not recommend any child attend their program, I feel they are negligent, also heard they left a child at the park, another parent also told me Julie Brumley threatened them. In my opinion, their turnover for instructors and child care is extremely high for a reason, the Brumley’s have proven themselves to be difficult to work with. I feel they take advantage of there not being many childcare programs in the area and are not open to criticism or bettering their program. It’s a shame because this place could really have some “potential” if it were ran properly.

Complete waste of time, the kids learn to dance not defend themselves. There's no conditioning, strength training or discipline. The wife of the grand master Mrs Brumley is in charge and Mr Brumley is barely involved other than random appearances at the belt ceremonies which cost an arm and a leg, she is an absolute nightmare to deal with and treats all the parents like they get on her nerves. I regret getting my kids involved here and would not recommend it, a lot of parents feel the same.

My 4 and 6 year old absolutely love Taekwondo University. My 6 year old started the after school program in Kindergarten when he was 4. He has learned more respect and the discipline that comes along with Taekwondo. He's currently 3 belts away from his Little Warrior Black Belt. He loves the instructors and learning his patterns. He's in the little warrior program. My 4 year old has visited with him a few times and he's counting down the days until he starts the after school program.

Best taekwondo school around. My daughter started 21/2 years ago and is now a recommended black belt. She was shy and unsure of herself now confident and courageous. Highly recommend.
