After many years of trying to do fair business with Five🌟Starr Pilates I am sad to note that this establishment has gone out of their way to be unkind and disrespectful to the disabled community . I am a caregiver of an adult with different abilities and have worked really hard to attempt to keep my person engaged on a regular basis in physical activity. We had gone out of our way to participate in spin class(es) at Five🌟Starr. Please note that all the instructors we have experienced are AMAZING!!!! Tommy in particular is an outstanding teacher and pours his heart and soul into each class no matter the hour. He also has been very welcoming and patient with my Special Needs Adult. We will miss Tommy very much. Management however...different story! I could site several different experiences throughout the years that I have felt slighted on behalf of my adult with different abilities but recently they have up there ante with greed and unethical business practices that have left us where we are today. I caution anyone wanting to do business with this establishment to think twice. There are lots of great instructors around Long Beach and you might want to look for some because if you have an emergency or you're unable to attend class you could be charged as much as $45 each time a class is missed. The class doesn't even cost that much. So PLEASE do the math and make the decision. Just know you've been warned. PART II: (After owner response) There you have it ladies & gentleman. The professional interaction from the small studio owner. Lovely lady huh!? I could very well enter into a pissing contest and WIN with this beastly human being though I’ll allow her words to show you better than I could ever tell you WHO SHE IS. If that was an attempt at embarrassment you have hit another road block. There is no debt owed to this studio. No collecting needed nor necessary. The account belongs to my Special Needs person and it was charged $45 for a “late cancellation & NSF fee” that cleared his account when I transferred money to it. There are others / plenty others that have endured the wrath of Starr. Just know I’m not at all afraid of the big bad wolf and will continue to have zero tolerance for such lowly behavior. I will always speak truth to injustice of all kinds. Happy to take this offline or we can continue your walk of shame on this format. You picked the right one today ma’am. I’ll make time!

Took my first intro/orientation to Pilates class here and I’m so happy that it was such a welcoming, step-by-step class! Our instructor really gave personal attention to each of us, the environment was clean, and now I want to keep going! Highly recommend this especially if it’s your first class too.

If you’re hesitant about trying out this studio, I hope this review steers you in the right direction. A few months ago I was in search of the “perfect” studio. One that has fair pricing, is less than a 10min drive, and has an intimate setting (8 reformers). Five Starr Pilates checked all these boxes but I was hesitant because of the negative reviews. Decided to give this studio a shot and well, I absolutely LOVE this studio! The instructors are extremely personable and always make sure to help correct your form. This studio is very inclusive and I’ve only been treated with kindness from fellow attendees. Please take the negative reviews with a grain of salt. This studio has clear guidelines that really aren’t hard to follow. And honestly, I really love that this studio has an app, making it easy to look up, book, and cancel classes conveniently.

A couple of their instructors are decent, however most are not. They give instructions without follow through, checking for body positions, or even paying attention. I would say this place is an accident waiting to happen. I am a certified Pilates as well as a certified spin instructor. I think I know what I’m talking about. My last class there the instructor came in 15 minutes late. She had us do jump board, which is fine but she did not know that I knew how to do it. She never asked. And during that short 25 minute class (supposed to be 50 minutes) she actually had us doing things on the jump board that could seriously hurt someone’s back. When I messaged the owner, she gave me a short answer That I was at fault for not trying other instructors. Would not recommend

I have been a client at Five Starr for ten years and highly recommend! The instructors are well-trained, enthusiastic and reliable - it is not a revolving door like so many studios. With only 8 reformers, you get individualized cuing, modifications and adjustments as appropriate. We are so lucky to have such a great Stotts facility right in the neighborhood!
