I've been coming to Crunch since September and have been so happy here. Jana is a fantastic personal trainer, who pushes me and encourages me at the same time. I am seeing big changes in my overall health and accomplishing my fitness goals. The facilities are always clean, great variety and availability of equipment, and the staff is so friendly!

Found this gym to be very welcoming and after being out for so long coming back was tough. I’ve had the help from some of the coolest workers here such as Christina, Jeremy, Shawn, and others at the front desk always being there to help support. Great gym, great equipment, great crew of team members. Recommend highly! -Coty

This gym is definitely my favorite! It not only has a lot of fun classes for different tastes, but it also has great trainers and really helpful and patient people at the front desk. I love how they greet you with a smile! The other day I had a question about the bikes in the cycling room and Christina, a manager, came with me to see the bike and answer my concerns! She made sure the bike got the attention needed. She did this while smiling and being really nice. I feel really taken care of at this gym! I love to come and be always greeted nicely, it is also very clean, the classes are amazing and they have very good machines…. Great place to work out!

Dodging cameras in the locker room has made my experience incredibly uncomfortable. I have brought my concerns to staff twice now. The lady I spoke with at the desk was rude and informed me nothing would be done. Women snapping pics in private spaces (literally while others are changing/showering) is not a membership I signed up for. Management seems to be perfectly fine with this behavior.

Extremely frustrated with my experience. Since the renovations at the Old Trolley location has started it has been a true hell to workout at this gym. Not enough space nor equipment to accommodate this whole bunch of people. You don’t have motivation to workout when you look to the equipment you want and there are 5 dudes doing rotation (which is another concern that should be addressed). Today I’m going home on a 20 minute ride after being here for 40 minutes and 20 of them I was in the treadmill. Crunch in Summerville is DONE. Absolutely do NOT waste your time and money here.

Been here for years (started as a pivotal member). First issue was our year plus of prepaid pivotal memberships. As crunch bought out pivotal, our balances were never shared. We were told we would get an email showing current balance and new fees within a month. Well, 8 months later we are still waiting on this to be resolved. Not sure my balance or how many months remain (as crunch is a cheaper fee with less class options). After crunch purchased pivotal we were told some renovations would be made but they would be phased by area and the gym would remain operational during renovations. Last Friday, we get notice that gym will be closing on Monday and hopefully reopen in a month. We were simply told to go “another one of our facilities”. While I’m certainly disappointed that we are scrambling to find a new gym for fitness classes, I’m disgusted that crunch only gave their instructors the same 3 day notice they gave members. To see instructors who were teaching 20 plus hours of classes per week, have zero notice of shutting down for renovations is beyond disappointing. Not convinced that my balance will be fully refunded, but I’m done here.

One of the best gyms I’ve ever joined. My kids love going with me. The staff there are kind and friendly and engaging with my kids. They have plenty of activities for them to engage in, and the play area is big enough for them to run all day. Whether it’s playing basketball or tag they always have a blast!

Had to come back and edit this review since the Crunch buyout. To start, I'm not a fan of Crunch dominating the market lately and buying up every gym in town so there's like ONLY Crunch. To that end, Crunch has another, smaller gym on Ladson Rd that's a 3 minute drive from here. As soon as they bought this location, which was already pretty busy, everyone from Ladson flooded in. At this point, unless you're there at 6 am or 10 pm this gym is now packed solid busy. They also shortened the hours to make sure the crowding is increased. Speaking of hours, since it's no longer 24/7 they close a lot. There are a lot of days they'll close at 12 now. Not that it's unreasonable to let staff see their family on holidays, but the gym was already rigged for un-staffed hours and was changed for seemingly no reason. If it stayed 24/7, this wouldn't be an issue. A couple weeks ago, all members were informed the day before that this gym would be undergoing 'renovations' and, as I pried out of staff since they didn't want to let this info go, these renovations could go until February. Until then, the seismic crowd is welcome at the extremely small aforementioned Ladson location. Let me give your a peak about what it's being renovated to. I went to the other Crunch locations, and they're all the same: 85% of the gym floor is cardio machines + an enormous area dedicated to the LOUDEST class you've ever heard in your life. The last 15% is every free weight and machine crammed together so there's absolutely no place to stand. If there's a square foot, there's a machine there. Amazingly though, there's only one (Two MAX) machines for every muscle group, so get your phone ready because you WILL be waiting. In the month since this gym closed I've put on a bunch of weight and don't even care because the Crunch experience at other gyms is so abysmal. Between the crowd, the cramping, and the lack of diversity in equipment I'm usually only able to get one lift in in the hour or so I have to work out. Based on my experiences, I'm positive that this location, which used to be a wonderful gym called Pivotal, is going to be exactly the same. It's a very cheap membership but I'd encourage anyone even interested in getting on a new year's lifting routine to avoid here. Other places cost more but will absolutely be worth your dollar. Honorable mention is all the sales people they let harass you relentlessly. You'll have to fight off charities at least once a week. R.I.P Pivotal, I'm not sticking around to watch them but my childhood gym.

Was a happy a member at the Gold's on Dorchester/Ashley Phosphate, but once they folded to Planet Fitness I went to pivotal. While not as convenient, Pivotal had great equipment and space and it was a good alternative. Then Crunch bought them out and our membership fees didn't change, and on top of that they closed for renovations with hardly any notice to members or trainers. The next closest location is on Ladsen road and it is smaller, has fewer and less comfortable machines, and fewer serious people. I'm sick of being a gym orphan. I really hope the Trolley location isn't replacing the equipment.
