The easy access to the faculty and the amazing staff is what I love about being a member at the YMCA. They are welcoming and never make you feel like you’re a bother. They are helpful, courteous and most of all, kind…I appreciate their spirit of Aloha!!!

Staff at the welcome desk is very friendly and helpful. New equipment. Clean locker rooms. Good sized pool. Can get quite crowded. The maintenance manager and staff are very good. Staff in the physical fitness center aren't interested in helping anyone or cleaning anything, though. They just want to hang out with their friends or be in places they are not supposed to be. Finding them can be difficult. And their managers hide in offices or dissappear.

Being new to the island, I was a little hesitant to sign up because I didn't know anyone. But now I go almost every day and that has alot to do with the friendliness of everyone there. They make you feel like family!

I love the YMCA at Nu’uanu. Best yoga teacher- Genie Barker, absolutely incredible class that changed my entire well-being. Love the child care givers, David is a real sweetheart. Dane always has a nice smile & greeting upon arriving! Big weight rooms that are rarely full. Love the humongous locker room with lots of showers and even a dry sauna. Can’t beat it for the amenities and price on the island!

We had a very positive experience with our swim lessons at the Y, and I am grateful for the time and effort the teachers gave our family. The teachers were very clear and patient and made learning new techniques much easier. It was great to receive tips tailored to my son’s specific needs and skill level. Each lesson had a clear structure and goal, and we had so much fun!

The YMCA and Miss Cindy are amazing! This is our son's first experience in the pool at 6 months and Miss Cindy is so great with him. He is super comfortable in the water and it has been wonderful to learn how to properly introduce him to the water and what specific activities to focus on. We've already signed up for the next session!

So community oriented and welcoming! I love the convenient location, variety of classes and well-maintained and clean gym and pool facilities. Instructors are excellent and staff are so friendly and caring always! I regularly attend yoga with Ayako in person usually but also via Zoom when I can’t come in person. This engagement is important and positive for me, in nurturing my physical, mental and emotional health and well being. I love connecting regularly with my yoga friends! MAHALO, Kaimuki-Waialae Y ‘Ohana!!! Naomi

We do the parent-tot swim classes for 6 months - 3 year olds. Our son is 17 months and absolutely loves it. The swim instructors are very kind and helpful with technique, especially since the ages are all spread out they are very good and tailoring the task at hand to your child's age and skill level which is something you don't get at a lot of other places.

They have lots of different classes to attend whether you want to break a sweat, tone, meditate, or relax. They are welcoming, it has a chilled atmosphere but upbeat as well. Very clean facilities and located in Kahala mall which has a Whole Foods store.

Tonight my friend and I did the hot yoga session and it was amazing! Or instructor Kina'u was amazing and really thorough with the movements that we did. She was sweet and very well/soft spoken. She helped us out when we were struggling to relieve tension. The class itself was very relaxing and power indusing. I would definitely recommend coming here and look for the instructor Kina'u, Isabella, and Emily!

I have enjoyed my experience with Core Power. I’ve taken Hot Power Fusion which has been so fun to try something new. I tried it out with a few instructors but Kina’u has made the class more enjoyable and I enjoyed her style. She allows for further instruction and demonstration, making the class easier to follow especially for a newcomer.

My girlfriends and I are trying to find new ways to keep active and we've been telling each other we'll try yoga for the past 4 years lol and so we're glad we finally chose to try it out! We signed up for Yoga Sculpt with Armay and she was freaking amazing! :) I loved how supportive, bubbly, and strong she is. I mean I don't really have anyone else's class to compare it to but I would def go see her again, she made me SWEATTTTT like I haven't done so since my teenage volleyball seasons. Although, I highly recommend to please eat a good meal or snack and hydrate before you take this class cuz ya girl almost died but we pushed through. Overall 10/10 great class. We went to the 7:30pm class which was a pretty nice turnout, not too crowded but a good handful of people who also help motivate you in the room.

Shout out to Krista Catafago/Sakaba for being such an awesome and inspiring instructor! I've been friends with her husband, Phil, for a few years and during that time Krista would regale me with stories of her CPY/yoga life and how I should get into it. Literally for years I've been telling her and every other CPY enthusiast I know that I'm not interested and prefer surfing in my free time. She invited me to an 'ohana/friends class this past Sunday at Kahala and I had such a great time that I signed up for a 1mo membership. Looking forward to my next class! Mahalo big time Krista

Locker Rooms with Showers Basketball Court(s)Reviews

Just wish it was better organized. There is a cardio room, but cycling, rowing, stair, and other cardio machines are also on the basketball court. 3 weight rooms all have randomly placed weight equipment, and the stretching machines are upstairs from the weight room, but there are also some stretching machines and floor mats on the basketball court. Maybe a diagram in the lobby would help. Staff has always been really nice and helpful, and I appreciate the long hours and after-hours access.

Not sure what kind of culture you are trying to cultivate here. I’ve lived here for 2 years now and have frequented this gym as well as tripler and AMR on an every day basis. The experience at all of the gyms have been very pleasant and I am nothing but friendly and respectful of the others around me. For some reason Mike decided that one of the outfits I wear wasn’t allowed in the gym. No big deal I’ll just work out at other gyms that don’t mind what I wear and don’t really bother me unless it’s a friendly conversation. Mike lost his mind after I calmly and relative low volume replied “cool I’ll just keep working out at AMR” he then decided to rudely and loudly start insulting me at the front desk. Making disparaging comments about my looks, making disparaging comments about my character and saying he is a better person than me, and finishing it off with making implications that I was not educated enough to be able to read. This is ABSOLUTELY unacceptable behavior from an employee in an establishment meant to help people. The only resolution for this type of situation is termination of employment. If he is going to openly treat and talk to me in the manner he did how many others has this employee treated so poorly?

Military only gym. Staff is nice, facility is clean, ID is required, decent amount of equipment to include machine, free weights, kettlebells, yoga stuff, bikes and more. There are bathrooms and changing rooms. Lastly, there is a full court gym that is well maintained. Hours are posted but be warned that if there is a holiday hours change.

Best military gym currently. Doesn't have the strict guidelines like Pearl and Hickam. Additionally, you can register for 24 hour access. The basketball court has been converted to a machine weight room and their old racquetball court is now a bench / row room. Clean and organized.

Cost is awesome - free. Gym is a bit small, equipment a little old, and machines are packed pretty tight. Not usually too busy, so you can usually get in a good cardio and strength workout in a reasonable amount of time. Sometimes people camp on one machine though, and you just have to do something else.

Parking is terrible, often full in the morning. I signed up because they had child watch. this particular location just has the tv on during child watch while the caregiver uses her laptop and doesn’t seem to interact with my child. everybody that works there was very polite and friendly. Its just that I can work out at home for free while my kids is glued to the TV there. Also, I always have a parking spot at home.
