My experience at Equinox Boston was nothing short of excellent. The gym is always clean, with top-of-the-line equipment, and the atmosphere is incredibly motivating. The staff was always friendly and supportive, making it a great place to work out. A special shoutout to my personal trainer, Kevin Roache, who has been an absolute game-changer in my fitness era. Kevin has a unique ability to tailor workouts to my goals, pushing me to work harder while ensuring proper form and injury prevention. His knowledge and expertise have not only helped me see physical results but also given me the confidence to tackle challenges I never thought I could. Kevin’s approach is personal, professional, and motivating – I always looked forward to our sessions. Not only is Kevin an incredible personal trainer, but he also has some seriously impressive talents. I’ve seen him smash a watermelon between his thighs — yes, you read that right! His strength and control are truly at the next level. If that’s any indication of his dedication and power, it’s clear that Kevin can handle any challenge, both in the gym and beyond. Overall, I highly recommend Equinox Boston for anyone looking for a premium gym experience, and if you're in need of a personal trainer, Kevin Roache is the one to go to. Especially if you need that extra push in 2025. His dedication and passion for helping clients succeed are truly unmatched!

I recently cancelled my membership at Equinox Sports Club Boston due to relocation, but I couldn’t leave without sharing my wonderful experience! I first joined Equinox in November 2022, and after a brief stint as an employee at Equinox Bethesda, I returned to Boston and rejoined as a member on June 1, 2024. Every moment spent at this club has been truly exceptional! First, I want to express my gratitude to Matt Strutt, the General Manager, for creating such a welcoming and inspiring atmosphere. Second, a special shoutout to Michael Mlambo, my membership advisor, who was always there to help and make the process smooth and enjoyable. One of the most impressive changes I noticed upon my return was the upgraded equipment and furniture throughout the club. It really enhances the workout experience and makes the environment feel fresh and inviting. Since I rejoined, I participated in over 100 group fitness classes, and the instructors are simply top-notch! Emily Comerford’s Playground Experience class was a standout; her energy and creativity made every session a joy. Paula Fonseca’s Pilates classes were fantastic for building strength and flexibility, and I always left feeling revitalized. And Maryanne Blake’s Ropes & Rowers class was an exhilarating challenge that kept me engaged and motivated! As I relocate to the Midwest, I’ll truly miss this incredible community. I made a ton of friends at this fitness club. Thank you, Equinox Boston, for the amazing memories and the fantastic fitness foundation you’ve helped me build. I’ll carry these experiences with me wherever I go!

Enormous equinox. So much space and so well laid out. I wish I took pictures of the yoga studio but I didn’t bring my phone to class. It was the most beautiful studio. Flooded with light. Tall ceilings and curved windows. This facility is just so enormous and they really do such an incredible job keeping it so clean. Thank you for having me!

Equinox in Ritz-Carlton Boston's outstanding quality and atmosphere not only make using the gym a pleasure but also motivate me to come for my daily workouts. In addition, the outside view is amazing. Had a boxing class with Jim. Great explanation of the moves. Really fun class. Felt so energetic after it. Recommend to attend.

Best group classes. 100% recommend to anyone looking for amazing classes and motivation. I feel all the teachers are great, and all classes are better than studio classes at other places that only offer one type of class. Location is great, only missing sauna for womens bathroom.

Barry’s Back Bay is no joke! The class was SO hard, but absolutely worth it. They really push you to the brink, more than any other HIIT class I’ve taken. If you’re looking for a challenge, this is the place to go. The instructor was fantastic—super clear with instructions and really kept the energy high throughout the whole class. I walked out feeling completely spent, but also really accomplished. If you’re serious about getting a great workout, Barry’s is where it’s at!

Good class with Kate! She was high-energy and fun, which kept the class engaging. Not as challenging as Barry’s classes elsewhere (London & Milan), but still a good workout. The locker room space is cramped and poorly laid out.

Love. Incredible workout, it’s fun, motivating, challenging, and dramatic. All the instructions 8 have taken class with have been phenomenal. The studio itself is very well run, the front desk staff are inviting and it is easy to get someone on the phone if you have questions. The shower + styling amenities are great. Im a huge fan and think it is well worth the price. Bonus is the smoothie bar that can have your smoothie ready as class ends!

Kate's classes are masterful. Nothing short of perfection. Her instruction is clear, her internal sense of timing is impeccable, and she doesn't blast the music too loud. She also provides a psychological element, and challenging structure to the class, that stops you from plateauing. She is an amazing Barry's instructor!

Healthworks is a good women’s only gym, has the potential to be great. Just lacking strong AC and quality classes. The stepper machines are not in locations for taller females, can hit your head on the ceiling if not properly leaning over. Have been coming here on and off for 3 years. Currently doing construction downstairs, very loud and less space. Hopefully the construction will be done soon and AC will be added! Overall if ok classes and low AC do not bother you, I would recommend Healthworks!

Honestly, this is the best gym ever!!! They have all the equipment you would want whether you are more into weightlifting with barbells or prefer cardio machines or group fitness classes. It's always so clean; I feel like it's spacious enough where you aren't waiting forever or even that long for a machine or equipment on a busy day. I started coming here because of the perk through work and coworkers of mine who were members who moved out of state said that one of the top 5 things they miss the most about Boston is this gym.... it's pretty great.

By far my favorite gym that I have ever joined. The staff are really welcoming and helpful. The locker rooms and amenities (steam room, jacuzzi, and sauna) are top notch and unmatched for the price of membership. They have woodway treadmills and top notch training equipment - more than any other gym I've been to. I only left because I moved to another state - but I put in a request to Healthworks to open a location to my new city because I love it so much. I worked with Personal Trainer Kati and she helped me develop confidence in the gym and reach my fitness goals. By the time I left healthworks I had a solid gym routine that I felt much more comfortable using equipment safely. One of Kati's biggest strengths is her organizational skills - she sent my routine to me virtually with everything broken down by week. One last comment: a few reviews mention difficulty canceling membership. I did not experience any issues with them not allowing me to cancel and they have not charged my card since. Just call and have them walk you through the process and try to call one month out from the date you want to cancel to give them good notice and prevent any extra charges.

Joined a few months ago and really appreciate how clean and nice the gym is. However there are some issues with the classes. There is extreme variation between instructors with some of them being awesome and some seeming like they are either inexperienced or underprepared. There is also a lot of variability is how challenging the class is based on the instructor, especially with some barre classes being super hard and some being almost no work at all. Most of the classes with the good instructors fill up immediately also which is frustrating. I joined mainly because I like doing a variety of classes vs working out on my own, so not sure how long I’ll stick around if I keep being unable to get into certain classes or have to take a gamble on whether the class will be worth my time.

I’ve taken a handful of sculpt classes at the Southie handle bar location, and I’m definitely a fan! I got a gift card for christmas so looking forward to going more. I just took Emily’s 5:30 pm class on Thursday and i think i found my new favorite instructor. I just absolutely loved her infectious energy- was so motivated the entire class. All the instructors are amazing but she’s a stand out. Highly recommend coming here. Pro tip bring your own Yogi towel and lots of water- it gets HOT!

Let me tell you about Handle Bar! When I visit their South End location, I never miss out on the spinning classes led by Rachel MC and Maddy B. These instructors are amazing, and don't be fooled by their friendly demeanor - their classes are challenging but they manage to make them enjoyable. Plus, the music they play makes you feel like you're at a party. Personally, I dread cardio, but I always eagerly anticipate their classes.

I love HB! The whole crew is incredibly kind, and the workouts are awesome. What I think sets HB apart from competitors is how welcoming they are to new joiners. My first time there vs with other companies was totally different -- someone showed me to my bike, help me set it up, helped me clip in, all the works. The instructors also help coach you through the choreography (e.g., what is position 1, crunch, push-up, etc.) vs leaving you out to guess what's going on. The owner, Tom, is also fantastic. I left a medication there after a class and he went above and beyond to help me get it back. Cant say enough good things about HB!

Absolutely love this gym!! The atmosphere & gym itself is a BIG motivation for me to keep coming back. From the moment I walked in 2 months ago I felt like family and welcomed into the 1 more rep community. Was given a tour and shared my goals/limitations with all the trainers which they are mindful of everytime I come in. I highly appreciate that and sometimes would suggest workouts for me to do. They have everything you need for your work out & more, even food! Better Bodies is located inside so I love that I can get a pre workout if I forget my own, or even a protein/high calorie shake or muscle recovery drink before I go. I can go on but just goes to show how much I appreciate this gym and their services to the community. Truly a gem located in Roxbury you won’t regret signing up!

Best gym I’ve ever been to. Owner is always around and one of the nicest people I’ve met, he goes out of his way to motivate you and help you. The gym and people look a little intimidating at first as it feels like a MMA/boxing gym, with an all black theme (super cool and fits the aura of the gym), but there is not a single person here (especially trainers) who isn’t willing to drop their stuff and help you. Made some good friends here, 100/10 would recommend.

Hands down, the BEST gym in Boston. Super dope and unique equipment aside, your experience here will literally make you never want to go anywhere else. If you're looking for a place where the vibes are just always positive, always warm and welcoming AND the satisfaction of having pushed hard as soon as you walk out: 1 More Rep is it and more. I've been coming here since 2019 and I've grown so much. In knowledge, in strength, in respect for myself and others who work so hard every single day to reach new heights. I don't think I'll ever find a gym this amazing and if you're thinking about trying it, I'm telling you - give it a chance. All levels are welcome and like all things, if you stick to it, you WILL see the change you're looking for 😉 ~ Positive vibes only ~ P.s. Get to know Jose Lora, Allen, Michelle and so many more - they are all some of the coolest people 🙏🏽👊🏽

Staff is great! They are always super friendly, helpful, and ready to answer any questions. I’ve been a member since this location was BSC so I went through the transition as well. The new renovations and equipment has been an incredible upgrade. They doubled their dumbbell quantities, added new power racks, back equipment, and some other miscellaneous equipment as well. They also refurbished all the old equipment they kept with new padding and anything else the equipment may have needed. I was honestly nervous about the transition but I’ve been very pleased so far and would recommend anybody to check it out! Just wanted to say again the staff is incredible!! Jacqui is always so warm and welcoming it’s an amazing way to be greeted every day and Reggie answered all my annoying questions about the new equipment. Thanks to the both of you!

My perspective: male focused on hypertrophy-oriented resistance training, Crunch Fitness Dorchester (formerly Boston Sports Club) left me with mixed impressions at best. The Good: - The staff are approachable and generally pleasant - Trial days are offered, helpful for assessing the gym before committing - Dumbbells up to 120lbs, not common at other facilities - Designated parking lot - Space for static stretching - Natural lighting - Weekends not overly crowded - Memberships options include paying more for access to other locations The Bad: - Floor space is dominated by cardio equipment, several machines are frequently out of service - The low ceilings make the gym feel closed-in - Open until 5pm on weekends - Lack of cable attachment options, exiting options are dismal The Ugly: - Membership Structure: While marketed as “no commitment,” the fine print reveals otherwise. Members are charged a ~$75 annual fee alongside the second month’s dues. This fee isn’t mentioned upfront, and the details of the membership contract is bypassed during sign-up. If you cancel within your first month, you’ll still be charged the second month and the annual fee, effectively penalizing you for leaving early. This “no commitment” promise feels misleading and underscores a broader trend in corporate gyms leveraging fees to trap members in unfavorable terms. - Equipment Selection: The range of machines is frustratingly inadequate. There’s no preacher curl machine, no hack squat, no calf raise, and no power racks. Even basic equipment like Olympic barbells (which are bent) and plates are limited, while cable stations are always in use. What machines are available often feel woefully outdated, poorly designed, or gimmicky—particularly the newer machines from Hoist, which sacrifice ergonomics for novelty. - Sanitation: Hygiene standards are disappointing (but improved in recent weeks.) Touchpoints on machines and equipment often leave hands smelling unpleasant after use. I’m usually tolerant of gyms with some wear and tear, but this felt especially poor in that regard. Members rarely clean equipment after use, and the gym’s reliance on spray bottles and paper towels instead of wet wipes seems to encourage this. While Crunch’s acquisition of Boston Sports Club gives some hope for improvement, this location’s private equity ownership makes me skeptical. The Dorchester area has an unfortunate lack of quality gyms, and while this may be one of the better options locally, that’s not saying much. The fitness industry’s trend toward consolidation only exacerbates these issues.

Been a member here since before Crunch bought it. I find the team members who work for there very friendly, helpful, and professional. They did a wonderful job updating all of the large equipment. If I could provide any type of constructive feedback it would be the dumbbell racks to be re-labeled and reorganized - folks kinda mix up the lower weights with the medium weight. Other than that, they almost get an A!

Formerly a BSC, now crunch . Has decent mix of new and old dusty equipment left over from the change . Seemingly seems very busy now but could just be the January crowd. Has its annoying cell phone stand influencers despite having a policy. Oddly enough there adding water massages room ? Or whatever that may be. Better then planet fitness without having to drive to far.

Parking!!!!!! I have been going to this gym for years now. The parking is unreal. They used to monitor the parking lot and tow individuals who parked there while they dined in a nearby restaurant. This is no longer the case especially on weekends. You can watch people walk out of restaurants to their cars when you are trying to find parking and there are clearly signs not to park. I have asked gym staff and they said that they do monitor parking , however I have yet to see it. Former BSC members were given and strongly encouraged to sign a form to avoid increased cost of membership from BSC to crunch. We were told we would be locked in at our current memberdhip rate. They stated in person and on the form that this premier crunch site would be much higher than the current rate of our membership. The rate would be 100-150 a month. This is not that case. I am still paying $50 dollars a month while new members are paying $30 a month. They capitalized on having former BSC members pay more by keeping their old BSC membership. Even when asked about why we are paying more, there is no clear answers. I suggest anyone who was a BSC member and signed this former to go in and rewrite their contract. A few friends of mine have written to the Attorney General of MA and have reported this to the better business bureau.

Bspoke is a great experience. I decided to purchase the 50$ package for unlimited classes for 2 weeks so I could see if Bspoke was a fitness center that I wanted to commit to. So far, I have been to 1 spin class and 1 hot yoga class. Both were challenging, but they were also exactly what I needed. Especially since winter is right around the corner, and I don't want to continue being a couch potatoe. I also do a lot if sitting for my job, which contributed to my weight gain as well. The fitness center staff are very nice, and the environment os pretty welcoming for new comers. The playlists and the ambiance inside the cycling and yoga rooms are very cool. The vibes are extremely positive, and Im glad I decided to try it out. After the 2 weeks, I plan to become a member.

I’m so incredibly impressed by the caliber of this studio! I recently trialed B/SPOKE’s two week pass at both the Cape House location (equally amazing) and the South Boston location. The pass is a great value to try the studio (2 weeks for $50). The studio: It’s clean and beautiful. The rooms are dark, have plushy mats and towels provided and the infrared heat and lighting feels amazing. The dark room is awesome. I love that they have hair elastics, bandaids and earplugs readily available. Their product suite is Mrs Meyers and they have a sensitive skin face wash which I never see at studios and always need after class. All high end choices and always fully stocked. The people: The front desk staff is so nice and super helpful! Honestly, above and beyond. I had one billing question and through email the team was incredibly generous and helpful and I was so impressed!. The classes: The spin classes were awesome. I loved the bikes and that shoes were provided to rent without surcharge. I especially loved Lo’s and Monica’s classes. I really enjoyed Claire’s and Brittany’s yoga classes. The yoga here is a 45 minute vinyasa flow. If I were to make one suggestion I wish they had a sculpt variety of yoga on the schedule - the studio would lend so nicely to this! I appreciated the option to take strength classes, but they didn’t work as well for me due to prior sports injuries. Overall an amazing experience. They also have free community rides to try the studio which is a nice inclusive touch. My only pause with committing to a full membership is the cost per class. I attend studios very regularly and from a cost effective perspective am always looking for an unlimited class monthly option which isn’t offered at this time. I will be on the lookout if that is ever offered it would be very well received!

Awesome gym. They have everything and each room is broken up by body part which is helpful (ex: sections for legs, arms, squatting, benching, stretching). Good amount of cardio equipment. Older and newer weightlifting equipment and machines. Really enjoyed my workout here - good vibes and friendly members. The women’s locker room has showers with soap and a nice sauna. Plenty of lockers to store your things. I went for a day pass as I was visiting a friend who lives nearby - price was $15. I thought it was worth it for a good workout

Very disappointing, came to the gym to take a tour and workout, was told no and must purchase a $15 day pass. In 20 years of checking out new gyms when moving to a new neighborhood, I have never been told you had to pay to try out a new gym for one time. Easy decision to never come back. I had heard it was friendlier in this part of Boston. Clearly not the case.

This place is alright. A no frills neighborhood gym that gets the job done. The owner is nice, the folks you email with are helpful and solves issues. 1. But — forget about the front desk folks — specifically the young man who sits there after 6pm — knows nothing, in a hurry to say off tangent things all over the place instead of listening to what you’re actually asking about, and defensively says things like, “I don’t care what the email says…” while you’re not even done with what you’re asking about and then contradicts himself saying “we are easy to talk to”?!? And the older man who just sits there and watches his shows. 2. They promote their phone app — but it sucks and doesn’t really serve much purpose. e.g. I already have memberships—but when I click on my app under my memberships, it shows nothing about my own membership; it shows the memberships that they’re currently selling. 3. When I first came to the gym, I told them it’s my first time and I asked where I’m supposed to go. The front desk elderly man just pointed to one side of the gym and went back to watch his show on his phone. Basically they take ‘no one will bother you’ to the next level. No one who works there actually bothers to know about the memberships they sell or anything at all! No one knows anything but the owner and whoever answers the email. Lol. I still go because this is the nearest gym facility near me. I suppose the area is ripe for competition or I hope this place gets bought out under new management or something.

Nice local gym. A little shabby, but there is everything you need for training, and it's pretty big as well. The best thing - they do not have contract, enrollment fees, commitment fees, annual fees and any other hidden fees. The price you see is the price you pay. And if you wanna make a brake, you're just stop paying, and that's it. Pretty honest policy, in my opinion, which is a rare good nowadays.

There's a 15 dollar day pass if you're not sure you want to commit or not. However, they usually have promos if you're willing to commit several months of training/going to the gym.

They are very welcoming and willing to answer any questions you have and the individual coaching and group classes are both a challenging and rewarding experience. Most of the gym goers are also friendly and willing to help you if needed. The equipment is in good condition and the gym has come a long way from when I originally became a member years ago. For the price, it is absolutely worth it and a good investment.

After 7 years of going to this gym I was recently charged $69.99 for a yearly fee on top of my monthly $26.99 fee. GREED at it's finest. I cancelled my membership and the girl at the desk tells me rudely they are not refunding me my $69.99 yearly fee so I had to put a dispute in with my credit card over this greed. They just increase the costs and they expect you to pay. Never joining this gym ever again.

This place has a wide range of machines and maximizes the space really well. The gym is clean and I enjoy coming here. Workers are very nice and inviting.

I been going here since it was opened. It’s solid for a cheap option. Friendly staff and a good price. I enjoy the gym. One thing I noticed tho is for the first ten years they always played Latin and hip hop and now they don’t haha. Gentrification has swooped in Roslindale and it seems they are playing all bad rock music eventho 95% of the clients are still black and latin and don’t like this music . Doesnt make sense.

this gym is amazing. It has tons of equipment. The employees are really nice and it’s always clean. The membership prices are reasonable too so that’s another plus
